Can't open tiff or jpeg attachments.

Using enterprise and 8703e.  Emails with tiff and jpeg files do not have the paper clip icon next to the message.  When you open the email, 1 attachment shows up but there is no option to open it.  Any hints would be appreciated.

I'm sorry I don't use Chrome - but I would suggest you look at the security settings in Chrome, and see if there is a setting that may be preventing this. It also may relate to which programs are approved by Chrome as the default to deal with various file types, and what action to take. For examle, there should be settings which tell Chrome what to do with a *.pdf or *.xls or *docx file, whether to open it (and if so, what program to use), save it to disk, or "always ask". Anyone with Chrome want to help with specific settings?

  • A client who is on a pc can't open my mac jpeg attachments. Help?

Has anybody else had this problem? I attach a jpeg to an email from my Mac (Send Windows-friendly attachments is checked) and my client on a PC using Outlook says they are embedded. I send using different servers, but no luck. Anybody have an answer?

If you use the automatic functions in other programs like iPhoto, they may be embedded by default. This encapsulates them in an html enclosure in the message and makes reading them more difficult.
If you allow the insertion point to be at a random location when the insertion is performed in Mail, the photo may be embedded by default. Move the insertion point to the very end of the message text. OR,  send the attachment alone, with a Subject like, Photo ONLY attached (nt)
-- (nt) is a common shorthand for no message text.
In desperate situations, you can use this:
    Mail > Preferences > Composing
    Message Format:[ Plain Text ]
--this will not allow attachment to be encapsulated in html, but you get no formatting in your message text.
    Not that also:
Responding: [√] Use same message format as original message
--will impact the format of your messages in some cases.

  • Can't open Tiff in Camera Raw CC

I have checked the Camera Raw preferences to open jpgs and tiffs in Camera Raw.  I have the Bride CC preferences set to Bridge CC for jpgs and tiffs.
I c n open jpgs in Camera Raw, but I can't open tiffs in Camera Raw.  I must be doing something wrong.
The settings for jpgs and tiffs in Windows file association are identical.
The settings for jpgs and tiffs in Bridge preferences are identical.
Yet, I can open jpgs in Camera Raw, and I can't open tiffs in Camera Raw.
    Any suggestions?
    Lynnea

Can you, from within Photoshop, choose File - Open As, then choose the TIFF file, and set the selector over on the right to Camera Raw?
I know that you'd really like to set up to open them automatically through Camera Raw, but this could serve as a workaround.

  • Lightroom won't open TIFF or JPEG files to CS5

Recently upgraded to a new iMac. This morning when I tried to open a TIFF file from Lightroom 3.4.1 into Photoshop CS5 I got a message saying: Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected file at /Volumes/Drobo1/Photos/2011/02-14-2011 Yellowstone/Yellowstone-0641-Edit.tif for editing.
    It will not be opened.
The only way Lightroom will open a TIFF or JPEG image to CS5 is if I tell it to open a copy of the image with Lightroom Adjustments. If I say I want to edit the original or a copy, it won't do it.
If I go into CS5 and open the TIFF there, it works fine, so the problem doesn't seem to be with CS5.
Lightroom WILL open RAW files into CS5 without any error message.
I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.8, which was upgraded yesterday and am wondering if that's the problem since I could open TIFFs on the new computer before.
    Phil

Do you have full permissions to the DROBO folder the files are in?  I'm a Windows person so I can't tell you how to check this, but upgrading a OS and then things not working might be related to permissions where the files were created with a profile on the previous OS.

  • No longer capable of opening TIFF or JPEG in Camera Raw

    Hi,
I was able, initially, to open TIFF, JPEG and even PSD files in Camera Raw , but today I installed an HP image application that came with my iPAQ and have found that I no longer can open these files with Camera Raw from Bridge (or from anywhere else for that matter).
what can I do to restore the previous behavior?
I am doing this now to see: open Control Panel and click on Photoshop CS3 and select reinstall. I don't know if this will work. Any ideas?

I think this is a problem caused by memory fragmentation during the use of Bridge and Photoshop. I find that right after I start the two programs everything works the way it should. But then things gradually start to bog down, and eventually the TIF or JPEG images will not open in Camera Raw. When this happens I generally turn to the "Open As" option in Photoshop knowing that things will be better tomorrow. And they usually are. I think this is probably a problem that is more common with Windows users than those who are using a Mac. I believe Adobe concentrated more on the recoding for the Mac than they did on verifying everything for Windows users. Apparently "real" Photoshop users only work on a Mac. Those of us who are on Windows are just wannabes. :)

  • I can't open tiff in raw. I have opened the same files in raw in the past.

Hi D Fosse (and everybody else) are you still there? You won't believe, but I am having the oposite problem! I have some tiff, and they have never been converted to PSD, and I can't open them in raw. Actually, they are scans from the lab. However, they have been in raw sometimes in the past, yes, and they are still tiff. Using your precious info I went to:
Photoshop pref>file handling>prefer camera raw for jpeg and supported file, (I know, they are tiff, but just in case): CHECKED
Bridge pref>thumbnails>pref adobe camera raw for tiff files: CHECKED
Camera raw pref>always open jpeg tiff using camera raw: CHECKED
    But the magic didn't work.

What version of Photoshop, Camera Raw & Bridge?
From your description I suspect it's CS3 (since in CS4 the prefs are all now in Camera Raw)...
If so, try purging the cache in Bridge and make sure the tiffs have no layers and are RGB files.

  • Preview can't open TIFF produced by Kyocera 4550 Workstation

The TIFF output that the Kyocera 4550 workstation produces for scanned documents is not able to be opened in Preview or Pixelmator but it can be viewed in Windows Photo Viewer.
    Here is a sample:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/77775927/Kyocera4550Scan.tif
This seems to indicate a problem with the interpretation of standards.
Can anyone determine if this file is somehow incorrect (ie Kyocera is responsible) or otherwise?

Kyocera have responded to our support ticket on this issue with the suggestion to change a setting:
    >Kyocera is not limited to TIFF compression code 6. It is possible to change TIFF compression level.
    >Go to System menu -> Common Settings -> Function Defaults -> Colour TIFF Compression on the device and change to TTN2
    >When this option is selected TIFF will be created using compression code 7.
Unfortunately, compression code 7 is a form of JPEG which is lossy and there are no other choices available in the Kyocera settings.
Preview on MacOS X 10.8 can open TIFFs with compression code 7, however MacOS X 10.5.8 cannot.

  • Help: Can't open TIFF in ACR from bridge. ACR not an "Open With" choice

    Hi,
I have a TIFF file on my OS 10.4.11 desktop. I open CS3 Bridge and select the file ( A TIF from a scan generated in SilverFast AI Studio) I right click the file and the drop-down menu shows me CS3 as an "Open With" choice but I do not see ACR as a choice. I choose CS3 and it opens in CS3. As I have TIFF and JPEG files as a default for ACR when I choose a JPG and CS3 it opens in ACR... why not this TIFF? Could it be that as it was scanned with a bit depth of 48 ACR can not interpret it?
How can I add ACR as a choice in "Open With" so that when I right click any image file on my Mac desktop I see ACR as a choice?

I actually slightly prefer the NikonScan software to Silverfast's so I only use NikonScan with my Coolscan and scan to 14-bit RGB Tiffs.
For the larger format film, I use Silverfast with the Epson 4990 and do the same thing.
Then I open the resulting Tiffs in ACR 4.4.1 (hosted by Bridge) to do any preliminary color- and tone- corrections before proceeding to Photoshop.
I have not found a need for HDR when working from Color NEGATIVE film (but I do remove the ridiculous Shadow/HL clipping that these scanner software manufacturers seem to program into their default settings!) and I don't use "slide" film.

  • Can't open tiff files in PSE8?

In PSE4 I saved files as Tiff's, but now I can't open them in PSE8.  What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

If  simple_chi is using Preview, that means Mac, so no irfanview.
If you do a Save As in Preview and save as tiff again, does that make a difference? Can PSE open them then?

  • IOS 8.0.2 iPhone 6 can not open photo or pdf attachments in email

After the photo (jpg) downloads, all I get is a grey screen with the photo name.  Same as when I tried to open a PDF attachment.
Is there a security setting or something I missed on the phone?
The files are fine, opened everything on my iMac and MBP.  Just can not open on the phone. Attachments are being sent through email.

    Hey Mrstudio,
Thanks for the question. Are you experiencing this issue with an Exchange account on your device? If so, the attachment may now be downloading fully. Check out the following resource:

  • Can´t open word or excel attachments on mail

I was working perfecty but after istalling Virus Barrier express for Mac and made a scan, now I can´t open any attachments that I opened before.

I am also having this issue. When I try to make my mapped drive, in my case it is the S: drive, the trust center does not allow me to make that drive trusted. I also tried to make a specific folder on that drive trusted with the same denial. When I copy
a specific document to a local drive, like the desktop, then I can open the document. Another computer on the network running the same Windows 8.1 OS and same version of Microsoft Office products does not have this issue. On that computer, I can save and open
documents directly from the mapped network folder.

  • Can't open PDF e-mail attachments

Windows 7, MS Outlook, Reader XI
If someone sends me an e-mail with PDF attachments, I can only open them one at a time.
If I double-click one attachment, it opens in Adobe Reader (XI). If I double-click another, there's a flicker and then nothing.  I have to close not only the first file, but close down Reader too, before the next file will open.  Very tedious.  Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?
Occasionally, some time later (>5mins), when I'm doing something entirely unrelated one of these files will suddenly open up.  It's as though the request to open a PDF is being backed up somewhere.  Mostly though, they just don't open unless I go through the process above.  With Reader closed down, the first PDF I try to open comes right up with no delay at all.

  • Not enough memory (RAM) error. Can't open TIFF file.

I can't open a 74MB TIFF file in CS5 photoshop.   I get error message: Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory (RAM).
I have 16GB of RAM and 55.5 GB of scratch disk.
I am using my recently installed copy of Photoshop CS5 64bit on a virtual Windows7 machine running in Parallels on a recently bought MacBookPro. This software (now deactivated) has run successfully on an XP machine and has successfully open TIFF files of this sort before.
I don't know whether this is relevant, but I can't update my copy of photoshop either. It downloads the updates, but will not install them.

I have discovered that the problem is that the TIFF files I am tying to open are 32 bit files.  There are several references on the Internet to Photoshop not being able to open these files   These are output files produced by the astro-imaging software Deep Sky Stacker.  Within DSS  I can save the 32 bit TIFFs  as 16 bit files which photoshop CS5 can open fine.
Does anyone know whether Photoshop CS5 can open 32 bit tiff files at all?  Would it help if I could update my version of Photoshop (see update problem above)?

  • Can't open very large JPEGs from PSE 13 on other computers

I've produced JPEGs in the 40-300 MB range in PSE 13 (Windows 8.1).  However, I can't open them on other computers operating with Windows Vista or Windows 7.  I get an error message to the effect that "Windows Photo Gallery can't open - file format not supported, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Gallery".  I do have the latest updates, so that's not the issue.  The photos will open through PSE 11 on one of the other computers, but that won't help if I give the photos to someone who doesn't have PSE on their computer.  Any ideas?

    Does this help?
