Can't Open Word, Excel 2003 attachments through email.
My Bold tells me that I can't view these types of documents on my phone when I try to open them as attachments. They open just fine when I placed the files directly onto my sd card and opened them from there. What am I doing wrong with my email?
can you detail what happens ?
you open the email and you click on the attachment and there is the "Open attachment" option ?

Can't open Word Excel or Powerpoint since upgrade to Yosemite
Since upgrading to Yosemite I am unable to open Word Excel and Powerpoint
I'm not sure if you exactly mean what you mean.
Are you not able to save an attachement or are you not able to download a file?
For the first case: is the attachement showing up in Mail? If so, what happens when simply clicking on the attachement?
For the second case: check your download-location configured in Safari to ensure you save to a directory available for write-access. -
Office 2013 can't open word, excel files from the network after upgrade to 8.1
Hello,
Recently, I upgraded all PCs from WIN 8 to Win 8.1. After the upgrade I noticed that I can't open any word documents and excel files. Before the upgraded I have no problem opened any files. All PCs have over 500GB free space on hard drive. Other PCs that
run Win 7 have no problem open them only the one with Win 8.1. This is what I got:
I right click--> property and there is no unblocked. All files resided on the network server.
Please help.
JimmyHi Jimmy,
Did you get any error message when you try to open an Excel file/Word document?
If so, you can post the error message and event log here. Also ,if you had antivirus software installed, try to disable them to test this issue.
In addition, what happens if you add the network server location as a trusted location?

IOS 8.0.2 iPhone 6 can not open photo or pdf attachments in email
After the photo (jpg) downloads, all I get is a grey screen with the photo name. Same as when I tried to open a PDF attachment.
Is there a security setting or something I missed on the phone?
The files are fine, opened everything on my iMac and MBP. Just can not open on the phone. Attachments are being sent through email.Hey Mrstudio,
Thanks for the question. Are you experiencing this issue with an Exchange account on your device? If so, the attachment may now be downloading fully. Check out the following resource:

We use about 20 excel files to build a consolidated financial statement for our company. Some of the files were built when the computers were running 2003 and some when we had 2007. We are being upgraded to Windows 7 with Office 2010. In
2007, we would simply highlight all the files in a folder, right click, and open. Once they had all refreshed for new data, we would close them all. Now with Excel 2010, we've highlighted all the files, but when we right click, we get a message
that says some files may present an internet security risk. Then it ask if we want to open anyway. If we say yes, we get a box that asks us to scan the files. We've done a scan, but at the end it still doesn't open the files. If we
say no, it does nothing. Either way, we're not getting the files open except to open them 1 by 1. We're not sure how to get rid of this...any suggestions? In Excel 2010 setting those documents as trusted documents, or adding the folder containing as a trusted location may do the trick for you. There's a full description of what it does here
http://blogs.technet.com/b/office2010/archive/2009/09/28/trusted-documents.aspx but if you go into File, Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings..., and then Trusted Locations, you'll see the list of currently configured file paths that are considered
trusted on your machine.
At the bottom of that window you can check the option to allow trusted locations on the network (so you can trust the files that I assume are stored on a network location) and then add the location of those files to the list.
Note, this setting is done per machine profile, so if it does the trick for you then each person needing these files would need to do this. Also, keep in mind that by doing this you're removing some of the protections added into Excel, so you should only
go adding locations you know you can trust (not just the root of a network path where anyone and everyone might go saving spreadsheets they've downloaded form the internet). -
Can't open Word, Excel and Powerpoint Preview apps
Hi guys i hope thats the right forum for that question... I've installed these apps and they worked a while, but since a week i cant open any of these apps. I tried reinstall but no change. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance!
Hi Active_Copy,
How about the Carey Frisch suggestions?

here is the steps from it:
Instructions
1. Open Notepad
2. Paste the following text into the blank doc
echo off
net stop clipsvc
if "%1"=="" (
echo ==== BACKING UP LOCAL LICENSES
move %windir%\serviceprofiles\localservice\appdata\local\microsoft\clipsvc\tokens.dat %windir%\serviceprofiles\localservice\appdata\local\microsoft\clipsvc\tokens.bak
if "%1"=="recover" (
echo ==== RECOVERING LICENSES FROM BACKUP
copy %windir%\serviceprofiles\localservice\appdata\local\microsoft\clipsvc\tokens.bak %windir%\serviceprofiles\localservice\appdata\local\microsoft\clipsvc\tokens.dat
net start clipsvc
3. Save the file (somewhere easy to find) as "activelic.bat" (note the .bat extension)
4. Execute the batch file from an administrator privileged command prompt. (right click Start button (window logo) | select ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’) - see screenshot for example
5. Go to the Start menu and uninstall the App exhibiting the behavior.
6. Go to the Gray Store and reacquire the App. Launch it and it should now open, reacquire a new, valid, license.

Opening word, excel, pdf, jpeg files as attachments on iphones
I've always been able to open word, excel, pdf & jpeg files as attachments on my iphone 5. But recently, everytime I tried to open one of these, the file image turned up all grey, and in the case of jpeg files, it just kept on loading, loading & loading, but never finished loading ... It seems like this happened after I updated to IOS 6.1.4 recently... This is just a guess. Could anyone help me with this? Thank you.
Srinivas,
Thank you for your reply. It helped me get to a solution. In essence I needed to copy the Unix file to an internal table and then save it to the end user's PC file. Then I am able to open the document / attachment.
I created a new function to:
1) call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>directory_browse, to ask the end user to pick a PC directory to copy the Unix file attachment to.
2) Then using the following code, copy the Unix file (as determined by application or user) to an internal table. Note that the line is not limited by a certain length.
types: begin of t_tab,
line type string,
end of t_tab.
data: k_wa_itab type t_tab,
t_it_itab type standard table of t_tab.
open dataset v_unixfilename for input in binary mode.
if sy-subrc <> 0.
raise unix_filename_read_error.
endif.
do.
read dataset v_unixfilename into k_wa_itab-line.
if sy-subrc <> 0.
exit.
endif.
append k_wa_itab to t_it_itab.
enddo.
close dataset v_unixfilename.
3) Using call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download, save the contents of the internal table to the PC directory from step 1 above.
4) Open the Attachment from the end users PC via:
call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>execute
It seems like a long way to get this to work, but it is working. If there is a better way maybe someone else can fill in the blanks. Ideally a tool to read and open from a file from Unix without using the cl_gui_frontend_services would be ideal. -

Word/Excel 2003 Files with Actionscript/MXML
Hello Friends.
A Newbe question I would appreciate your guidance and support.
The question is: How can I manipulate (create, update, delete) MS Word Excel 2003 Files with Action Script and/or MXML?
Or is there no direct way, do you know about some library, component or extension that would allow me to do that using Action Script and/or MXML ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Carlosif you're using the web, you'll need to have user's upload their files and you'll need to use server-side code to edit them and you'll need to use server-side code to create them. there's no way to delete files (thank goodness) from a web-based swf.
adobe air can be installed and work directly with the client's files but how and whether you can edit/create word/excel files is not likely without using a pre-built library and i don't know if anyone has built one. -
How do I get Safari to automatically open Word, Excel, Etc. files?
I can't get Safari to automatically open Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. files when I click on them from a Web site or Web-based email. They are automatically downloaded, but not opened. PDF files, and other "safe" file types, open automatically. The ""Open safe files after downloading" box is checked.
Any Suggestions? Thanks.
- jcorroonThere is no glitch. Lion does support Office and Word. You can use Office 2008 or 2011.

After installing Acrobat 8, can only open Word in safe mode
After installing Acrobat 8, can only open Word in safe mode. If I delete my customized Normal.dot, then all is well. However I want the macros available from the customized Normal.dot. I tried switching Templates after opening Word and it immediately triggers an error message: "Word has encountered a problem and needs to close." It then recovers all my recent documents even though they were fine, had no need to be saved. Thinking that Normal.dot had been corrupted, I went back to the original M$ Normal.dot and re-created my macros and saved as a new Normal.dot. The next time I open Word, I get the error message.
I have a template with only one macro. It does not cause this problem. The template I prefer has 3 macros and I will need to create more.

Word 2003 SP 3 with updates
Thank you in advance for any help you may give.I am told by my company's IT folks that the problem resides with Office 2003 sp3. If you remove SP3 and revert to SP2, the issue vanishes, so they say (I have not done it yet).
M$ is possibly ignoring the issue permanently, since they are on a new initiative to unseat PDF in favor of their own document format they're working on presently. I've sent a million error reports to them and....NOTHING.
Good luck.

I double checked RoboHelps Help...and it says Robohelp for
Word 6, Build 99.
Colum...
Here's what I did (I 'thought', I'd start off simple, lol)...
1. Start Robo.
2. Select New Project.
3. The left panel contains all of the folders (I think its
called Explorer).
The right panel is the default Helpfile word document that
contains the 'welcome' message.
4. I added my spreadsheet to the Baggage folder.
5. Back at the word document, I just added a simple word
'excel'.
6. Then I highlighted 'excel', Insert->Hyperlink...and
pointed it to my excel spreadsheet.
7. Saved it.
8. Generated it.
Everything opens up fine in IE. Excel is highlighted blue and
underlined. But its not clickable.

Can you open word doc. In pages? (Opening a doc. From the web) in the iPad or iPod tuch?
NH,
This may seem a fine point, but iWork apps don't actually Open Office apps. They Import them. The reason I make this distinction for you is that when you view the result of the import, you may see some variations from what was in the Office document because of an imperfect translation, and when you make edits, you are editing an iWork document, not the original Office document.
