Can't open word files sent from my 9500 to E90

Can some one please help me,
word documents sent to my E90 from my 9500 won't open,
message says :Unable to open file not supported,
It all started with data mover, Contact & Calendar entries are fine but document folders are recognised but won't open,
Nokia suggested using drag & drop, using Pc suit
with the 9500 connected drag all wanted files from the phone into my Pc then connect the E90 and reverse the process, files appear but I can't open them,
Then I was told to e-mail from my Pc as an attachment,
did'nt work either, doesn't matter how you get the files into the E90 you don't seem to be able to open them.
So, is it possable to get word files into an E90 from a 9500
Thank you.

Open Word file in 9500, choose "Save as" from the Menu and you will have an option on one of the buttons at the right of the screen regarding the Format. Press that button and choose MS Word format. If you save all your Word files like this you should be able to open them on E90.
This is from memory alone. If I was not clear enough, please let me know and I will give you more detailed instructions. Good luck.
Me again, opened and a file in my 9500 and saved it in MS Word 97 then using Pc Suit copied it from one phone into the other, but once again I get the same message (Unable to open.. File type not supported)
I don't know if all E90's come with the same programs pre-loaded, in mine I have a program entitled Quick Office in which it says you can open and manipulate Word files along with Excel and also Lotus Notes but first you have to purchase and download software from Nokia to activate it,
I have found that if I go into Quick Office and write a document in word then save it, I get the same message as above when I try to open it,
As I said in my previous message, I suspect I will have to purchase the Quick Office software from Nokia,
I look forward to hearing your thoughts,
Kind Regards.

    Hi Eidda,
    This may because the attachment is a winmail.dat file. I would recommend taking a look at the article below for more information. Note: the article is written for OS X mail, but does also apply to this situation.

  • Illustrator can't open the drawings sent from Adobe Draw

    When I send my drawing from Adobe Draw to Illustrator, Illustrator says it can't open the file format. Is anyone else having this issue or have a fix for it?

    Hi,
    You will need the latest version of Adobe Illustrator 18.1.0 to open Adobe Draw files sent to Illustrator. Older versions of Illustrator do not have the support for this new file format.
    Hope this helps,

  • Can't open Word files in Yosemite

    I installed Yosemite on my MacBook Pro Saturday. Now, I can't open existing files with Microsoft Word 2011. I can create and open new files, but I can't open old files. What gives?

    Let's gather some more information:
    How many of the following ways to open one of your old Word documents have you tried?
    * Double-click in Finder
    * Right-click in Finder, Open with..., Word
    * File > Open inside Word
    Do they all fail? In the same way?
    When an open fails, does it...
    * ... give an error message? (What message?)
    * ... beep?
    * ... fail silently?
    What file extension do these files have?
    * .DOCX
    * .DOC
    * .RTF
    * .TXT
    * something else? (What?)
    Have you tried uninstalling Word, reinstalling it, and updating it to the current version? (The intent is to rule out the possibility some component of Word has gotten damaged at some time in the past, and Yosemite triggers the damage to manifest itself.)

  • Can't open .bin files downloaded from Belkin's site

    I can't get firmware updates from Belkin's website to open. Supposedly they're in .bin archives including instructions and the firmware. I even updated my Stuffit Expander to version 10. No luck.
    If I drag the bin file onto expander it pops up a dialog box (that goes by too fast to read in less than 7 or 8 tries ) but there's never anything expanded to the desktop (the folder where the .bin file is).
    This is the file I need http://www.belkin.com/support/download/downloaddetails.asp?download=993 and I've tried also to open files from this page too http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&aid=5027
    Can anyone make a suggestion on how to get this file expanded or is the linked file just a corrupt file? Thanks.

    Did you take the trouble to read the install.pdf file located on the same download page as the firmware file?
    I actually read the instructions elsewhere on that site. I don't ask for help without trying to find the answers on my own. For example, before posting, I did both a Google search on "can't open .bin files" and also did a search on the discussion boards too. Or was that a rhetorical question?
    It gives specific instructions on installation.
    I wasn't asking about installation instructions.
    You don't open the .bin file with Stuffit. It's not an archive. It's actually a binary file.
    Stuffit Expander was listed as the default application when using CMD-I AND elsewhere on that site it said it was a Mac archive .bin file. The fact that it's NOT a .bin archive file is news to me. Thanks.
    If you continue to have a problem contact Belkin's tech support. Apple Discussions does not provide support for third-party products.
    I wasn't asking for support with a Belkin product. I was asking for help getting what I thought was a Mac formatted .bin archive open using my Mac. I provided a link to the file because I thought perhaps it was corrupt.
    No need to get your knickers in a bunch.
    Thanks for explaining that it's not a .bin archive because obviously I was not going to figure that out on my own based on what I read elsewhere.

    If Word is actually gone (apps don't just disappear) then you can download a copy of LibreOffice, it is free, and Word compatible.

  • Can't open Word file

    Ok, this is weird but I went to open a file that I haven't returned to since 1990 and, suddenly, it shows in the finder pane as a dark grey rectangular icon with green lettering saying "exec."
    There seem to be quite a few files like this scattered about my hard drive and if there's a way anyone can think of to open them, I'd appreciate it lots.  They were created in an early (circa 1990) version of Microsoft Word.

    Then in the file's name under the icon place your cursor there and press RETURN to activate renaming. Rename it to "whatever.doc" then press RETURN again. You may be asked about replacing an existing extensions with the new one - say OK. Now double-click on the file icon and see if Word will open on its own. If it won't, then you'll have to open Word, select Open from the File menu, navigate to this file, select it, click on the Open button. You will probably need to change the dropdown menu to show All Files in order to be able to select the file you want.
    Don't fear, but Word may not be able to open such an old file. I don't really know.

  • Since upgrading to OSX Yosemite cannot open word files downloaded from email.

    I have recently installed OSX Yosemite on my late 2010 macbook air. Since upgrading I have been unable to open files in Word that I have downloaded from my email. Old word files seem to work fine. My university has given faculty access to "Office 365" and that is what I use for my email. However whenever I try and download a word file from my email the computer opens word for a second - I can see the first page of the document - and then immediately closes. This happens regardless of whether or not I open the file from my computer in my desktop or in my downloads folder, or just download another copy from my email. The word file works fine on another windows computer, it's only on this mac that Office 2011 crashes every time I try and open this new file. Please advise?

    A web site for the community I live in. I can get into the site but when I try to open a PDF file all I get is a grey screen. I can open PDF files from mail, and other sites.

  • Can't open .png file unzipped from an email in PSE 9

    I get the following error when I attempt to open a .png file that was unzipped from an email:
    "could not complete request because of a problem with the file-format module interface."
    What is unusual is that another employee can open the file using Adobe Photoshop CS. I am also able to open other .png files. I was informed that this file was created on a Mac. I am using PSE 9 on XP Pro.
    Any ideas to what may be causing this issue? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    The OS should not make difference in this case.Try opening the same file through irfan view.

  • Can't open a file exported from Quicken, in Appleworks 6.2.9 Spreadsheet:

    n Quicken,
    File Export gives 2 format choices - Plain Text; MS Excel.
    choosing MS Excel results in file with .slk extension.
    To open from desktop, Finder has no recommended applications.
    from Choose Application, Appleworks 6 is not allowed.
    TextEdit is allowed; produces a text file.
    In Appleworks,
    File Open, for SS type and All Available file formats, produces a listing
    (like text file, not a SS); uses Textedit for some reason.
    Open, for SS type and Excel Win 5 format, shows the .slk file available,
    choosing Open causes Appleworks to quit; Try Again doesn't help.
    Somehow, changed extension to .xls Appleworks still quits;
    now what?? I could do this with an old version of Quicken and Clarisworks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions jimeast
    I don't have the option of exporting as other than a Quicken file type in Quicken 2005 that I can see. I'd suggest exporting as a plain text file. That should maintain the tabs between fields. You can then open it as a spreadsheet through the AppleWorks Open dialog or drag & drop the text file icon on a new, blank spreadsheet.

  • Can't open word files

    Ok, so I have tried every way of opening it under the sun, but I only get this message:
    The document “French Booklet.doc” couldn’t be opened.
    I opened it in textedit, and I can see it fine, but Pages seems to not want to open any word files.
    Anyone seen this before? Know how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance

    Make sure your iWork applications are updated. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
