Can't operate CS6 on my mac

I just paid for creative cloud membership and then after installation realised i have a 32bit processor that cannot operate CS6. How do i go about cancelling my membership? or getting CS5 instead of CS6? Please can you advise what my options are? Thanks

Sure. i have a mac running 10.6.8
I've installed photoshop so far. Which when i try to open it, it says "You can't open Photoshop CS6 because it is not supported by this type of mac"
I've been reading other peoples questions on forums for hours and found this:
(On the Mac side, we made the decision to end support for Macintosh systems that are not 64-bit capable. See related Apple documentation: How to tell if your Intel-based Mac has a 32-bit or 64-bit processor?)
That basically said if you have Intel Core Duo (not 2) - which is what i have - it is 32bit and it will not support Photoshop CS6.
Photoshop is the main application i want to use, so is the creative cloud useless to me? or can i get CS5 running instead?
Thanks for your help

you may be lucky, but you should expect problems if you do that.
you should properly install your adobe software using the adobe installation files.

  • Can I install CS6 for both Mac and PC with same license?

I have made my first installation to Mac and it's visible in my purchases. I tried to download CS6 to my PC but it didn't accept the same product serial number.
How can I install CS6 to PC also?

You can't. Standalone serial numbers are platform specific. Only Creative Cloud is cross-platform.

  • Can i use cs6 on a mac and a pc on one license

    - we have both in our office. I don't know if we ahve to buy cs6 mac version AND cs6 pc version or if we can buy a multiuser license and download the mac version to our mac and the pc version to our pc.
i think i may have the answer - a volume license. Does anyone know how much those cost?

With creative cloud you get 2 activation which allow to use the application on 2 computer but not at the same time and yes on different platform.
Mylenuim has already shared the link for the EULA in previous post. You can get the details in the FAQ of Creative cloud.

Are there any unique benefits that come with my paid membership?
Yes, as a member of Creative Cloud, you get many benefits that you do not get when you purchase a traditional shrinkwrapped product:
Access to both the Mac OS and Windows® versions of the desktop applications and the ability to install them on your primary computer and one backup computer. So, if you have a Mac at home and a PC at work, you can install your applications on both as long as they are not running at the same time. See the product license agreements page for more information.

  • Problem related to PS CS6 ext. on Mac.  Nikon DSLR D610 raw file can not be opened

Problem related to PS CS6 ext. on Mac. Installation is OK but I can't open picture from my Nikon D610 (Raw NEF format). I get a message "can not open this format ...". Checking Help menu to see if I miss an update the message I get is that I'm up-to-date but at the end Nikon D610 (format supported of course) files can not be opened . JPEG are OK but I work with raw files. Thanks

What OS are you running: 10.x.x?
What version of the Camera Raw plug-in do you have?  Do (About) Plug-ins / Camera Raw to find out.
You need at least ACR 8.3 to open D610 files.  If the Help / Updates process does not work, then there is a manual install process you can do.  The page with the download is for when people accidentally updated to ACR 8.4 and need to roll back to ACR 8.3 due to their OS being incompatible, but the installer on that page works even if you haven’t erroneously updated to ACR 8.4:

Download the trial from here and activate with your serial number.  Be sure to following the Very Important Instructions:

If you have already activated on two computers, then you’ll need to call/chat with Adobe to have them deactivate one.

I'm working in Photoshop CS6 on a Mac and am having trouble when I select a Path it automatically feathers the selection border. I can't seem to find any place to adjust a feather setting. Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm using paths to silhouette an image on a photograph to use in another document and I need a hard edge on it, not a feathered one.

In the Paths panel, click the flyout menu (in the top right of the panel) and choose Make Selection (this option will only be available if you have a path selected). Reduce the Feather Radius to 0 (zero) and click OK. This setting will be the default even when clicking the Load Path as Selection button.

  • I deactivated my CS6 and uninstalled on my PC, so I could install CS6 on a Mac. I downloaded CS6 on my Mac, but when I try and put in my serial number it's is telling me that the number is invalid.  What else can I do?

IIRC PS CS6 is not Cross platform. It takes a different license key code for each platform. A License key for Windows won't work on a Mac and a key for a Mac won't work on Windows. You'll need to buy another copy/License for Mac OS X.
At one time Adobe did allow you to switch platforms by paying them some money and getting a Mac license key code which I think then Deactivated the Windows license key.
IIRC the CC version does allow you to install on EITHER platform. But only one platform at a time. You can't have one copy on Windows and another on a Mac. Adobe does allow you to install on 2 computers with one license key but it must be on the same platform (Operating System) and both computers and or install of PS CC can't be used at the same time.

  • I am running Photoshop CS6 on a Mac OS X 10.9.3 and every time I save a large eps I can not open it again. I get this message when I try. "Could not complete your request because Photoshop was unable to parse the PostScript."

    Oh, dear.
If you use PSE as your external editor for iphoto, you need to save the images back to iphoto by using Save, not Save As and not changing anything like the name or format that would bring up the Save As window. (You may need to adjust the editor prefs>saving files>on first save to save over existing.)
OR you can export the photos from iphoto to the desktop, use file>open in the editor and then change whatever you want and either import the saved image to the organizer or import it back to iphoto as a new file. What you are doing is extremely risky, particularly to the iphoto library which you may easily damage by your workflow.
I would start the organizer holding down the shift key, then create a new catalog and switch to the new one. Then try opening the editor without opening an image and see if you get any farther.
PSE and iphoto are not designed to be used as you've been doing. You are trying to write to the iphoto library from outside iphoto, which is the fastest known way to corrupt the library and lose all your photos.

Can I and how, copy CS6 from my Mac to macbook?

Hello Kevin, to my knowledge it#s like this:
On a 32bit OS Photoshop CS6 is installed only as a 32bit version. The 32bit version of Photoshop can be used just for older plugins.
On a system with a 64bit architecture, you can install the 32bit version optional.
To use all features, you should use the 64bit version (which requires a 64bit OS).
Photoshop CS6 for Mac OS is available only as 64-bit application. Therefore the elder and 32-bit plug-in will not run.
