Can't pair macbook (older model) and iphone4

I used the "setup bluetooth device" on the computer and entered the "0000" code.  I received a message that "the Bluetooth network is unavailable".  I get all the way to entering the code and then I get this.  Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

The iPhone does not pair with a computer (Mac or Windows) via Bluetooth for any purpose other than personal hotspot (sharing the iPhones cellular internet connection with the computer) and it will only do that if it is supported by your cellular provider plan. Following is a link to bluetooth profiles supported iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles
I'm not sure if the end of your post (i.e., re messages, Handoff) is a separate question or if you think that they need Bluetooth. If you are thinking they need Bluetooth, they do not. If it is just that they are not working, your question on that would get more visibility as a separate question without Bluetooth in the titles.

    Hello Everyone,
I have a MacBook older model with me.I am running 10.7.6 on that, I was trying to use BootCamp to install windows on my mac. Since BootCamp can only work on a single Volume, I partitioned my Hard Disk to one volume.
Using BootCamp I installed windows and everything worked fine. After installing windows and testing everything, I switched back to OS X and this time I tried to make another partition on my single portioned Mac volume and named it Backup. That too worked. Now I have three Volumes
    1)Development2)Backup3)BootCamp.
Next when I switched to Windows, It should the classic error, No Bootable device found, please insert a Bootable CD and press any key. When I tried to enter my Mac OS X install DVD and by pressing option key, it does not show me the proper Mac OS X development volume. It keeps going back to the No bootable device found message.
Any help will be much appreciated
    Regards
    Mithun

you can't add a partition in between - you put Windows to a new partition number.
    GPT (GUID)
    EFI
    Mac HFS
    Lion Recovery
    Windows
And now you have two HFS
One partition and one Windows (plus Lion Recovery).
If you were to have more, it can't be before Windows for one thing.

Call Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code via e-mail and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

No, it will hurt your battery, but it is not recommended by Apple. Additionally, since you have a model with a removable battery, you should calibrate the battery once a month if you leave it plugged in at all times.

  • Can't Pair Nokia 6303 Classic and Macbook White running Mac OS 10.5.7

I know the 6303 is not yet supported by iSync, so I downloaded and installed the Nokia Plug-Ins from http://shop.mactomster.de. They claim to cover the 6303.
When I try to pair the phone with the Mac, Bluetooth Setup Assistant 'sees' and names it correctly. The same numeric code is then displayed on the phone and the Mac, but pairing then fails every time.
Any suggestions? Mactomster hasn't got an answer, yet.
    Thanks

I'm going to answer my own question. All down to Bluetooth, I believe. I deleted all paired devices from Bluetooth and iSync, restarted and tried again. This time it worked, and I was subsequently able to re-pair the other devices (mouse and PDA) again, and to iSync successfully with the 6303, including To-Dos and Notes.

  • Can't pair iPhone5 with iPad2 and Cookoo watch via bluetooth

    Hi All!
I can't pair iPhone5 with Cookoo watch via bluetooth.
Bluetooth is on. But iPhone5 can't discover any device.
I turned on bluetooth on my old iPad2 - the same story.
They are searching, but see nothing.
    May be somebody have experience?

    OK! I've found the disision!
    1. Press and hold the CONNECT button on your watch for 6 seconds to place it in pairing mode.
    2. Open the COOKOO App on your phone.
If you haven’t already downloaded the COOKOO app, you can find it on the App Store (for iPhone/iPad)
The COOKOO app will automatically search for nearby COOKOO devices and automatically connect with the closest device.
    3. When prompted, select the option to “Pair” with your COOKOO watch.
Once the pairing is complete, the COOKOO icon will remain solid to indicate that your watch is connected.
    Good luck!

  • Can't Get MacBook 2007 Model to accept two sticks of 1GB 667 Mhz DDR2 RAM.

So I had this situation running on an older version of this MacBook, two sticks of 1GB. That computer broke so I want to do the same on this "newer" one. However when I put two 1GB ram inside it will not boot. Just the Disc Drive starts up and a black screen.
The most frustrating part is when I insert one of the previous 256MB sticks in with a 1GB, it will turn on but will be really slow.
I've tried everything I can think of. Different 1GB sticks. Putting them in different slots but I cannot seem to get it to run with 2GB.

If you bought your RAM at a place that also sells PC RAM you may have gotten mislabelled RAM. PCs can handle different RAM speeds so they’ll often label higher speed RAM as a lower speed rather than make two different speeds of RAM. But Macs are much more picky. They require a RAM stick to be exactly 667mhz not 675mhz or 800mhz. The way to tell is to put one of your old RAM sticks in and it will force the new RAM to run at the correct speed.
This is from one review of PNY RAM:
"These modules are actually 800Mhz. PNY no longer makes or sells 667Mhz modules. Not all computers that require 667Mhz are compatible with 2 800Mhz modules. They refuse to down clock properly. This is especially true with a number of Core 2 Duo MacBooks. Spoke to PNY support, they flat out told me that yes, they sell 800Mhz modules in 667Mhz packaging. If you RMA a module that is 667Mhz (or supposed to be 667Mhz) they will replace it with an 800Mhz module as they no longer have any 667Mhz SODIMMs, not even for RMA replacement!"
These are good online stores for Mac compatible RAM
OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/ - They offer Mac tested RAM at very good prices.
Crucial Memory http://www.crucial.com/ - good place to buy RAM from all over the world. They also have an excellent memory selector that allows you to choose memory based on your computer's model
Data Memory Systems http://www.datamemorysystems.com/apple-memory.asp - another good, cheap place to buying RAM if you live in the U.S.

I am trying to pair up my new Muse Mini blue tooth speaker and my MacBook Air  computer wont even recognize it. I am able to pair it to my iphone5 and it works wonderful. I would appreciate any assistance solving this. Thanks Jim

Hi any one looking at this problem. I kept reading posts and found one that said to make sure if I had paired the muse mini to another device I should turn the other device blue tooth off. I did and bingo it paired to the Mac Air. Thanks all.

  • Macbook Pro, iPad2 and iPhone4 with iOS5

I have just upgraded iOS5 to iPad and iPhone. I wish to take full advantage of iCloud etc. On my MacBook Pro I have OSX 10.5.8 and a partition for Windows. Do I actually need the partition anymore seen as I have Office Windows for Mac (OWfM) programmes? However, I do not have the OWfM disc anymore. Will I loose my current OWfM programmes by upgrading to Lion? Can I release the segregated memory by removing the partition? Whats the best hard-drive options for back-up as it must be time I covered that senario that will not cost me 100s of $ or £?
    Any suggestions gratefully received
    Neil

Which version of Office for Mac are you running on your Mac partition? If it is Office for Mac 2004, then upgrading to Lion will render it unusable. If you are running Office for Mac 2008 or newer it will not be an issue. You would want to amke sure you create a Time Machine backup before upgrading to Lion to avoid any program or data loss in the event that the upgrade to Lion goes awry.
If you are using your Windows partition strictly to use Microsoft Office then you probably don't need the partition since you have Office for Mac.

  • Can you pair with an iMac and an iPad at the same time?

If you have an iMac and an iPad, is it possible to pair the same Apple Wireless Keyboard with both of them, rather than having to buy two Wireless Keyboards?

I've kind of found an answer to my question, but I'm not totally satisfied. Basically, yes, you can use one Apple Wireless Keyboard with an iMac and iPad, but obviously not at the same time.
To switch the Apple Wireless Keyboard over from working with the iMac to working with the iPad, you first have to "Disconnect" the keyboard in System Preferences > Bluetooth. This frees up the keyboard, making it available for the iPad to access.

  • Can not pair macbook pro with Logitech UE Boombox

    Hello,
I am trying to pair my macbook pro, Lion 10.8.2, with the Logitech UE boombox. While the iphone paired immediately, the macbook pro discovers the device but will not pair, returning the following message:
"The device does not have the necessary services"
I read somewhere that there is need for A2DP support in the Lion, but documetation says it is supported.
    Thanks
    Eitan

Same hardware and OS and no success pairing the UE speaker.

  • I was playing with my ipad settings (it's an older model) and noted in the advanced settings of Safari there was a place to view website databases.  When I clicked on this I saw websites.  How do these get there and what does the space amount mean?

I was playing with my ipad settings and noted in he advanced settings of Safari there was a place to view "website databases".  When I selected this I saw a multitude of websites.
Can anyone tell me how these get there?  Can a website be posted even if it was never went to?  What does the space amount mean?  For example, 1.5 kb...is this quite a bit?  Would it indicate someone has gone to a site multiple times?
I share my ipad with my teenage daughter and I'm trying to find out if she's lying to me.  Obviously she's swearing that she has "no idea" how these got there and I'm trying to keep her safe (she's only 14).
    Thanks everyone.

Think of your PC and the 'temporary internet folder' where it keeps cached copies of web pages or elements off a web page for 'quicker display the next time you visit'. That's pretty much what that folder is. 1.5K is tiny. Probably just a basic page with some text on it. (you might be confusing 1.5K with 1.5 megabyte....megabyte is large...it's roughly 1000 kilobytes, so the 1.5K is a tiny file)
As far as I know, the only way info gets into that folder is if the browser has been to that site.
if you have a concern there are browsers out there, McGruff is one i've seen recommended, that allow some degree of parental control and supervision. That or you could passcode lock the iPad or enable the restrictions to turn off some parts of the device to have some control.
