Can't ping, email or access my domain -- on occasion.

Very weird but I have no idea what is happening. We have two MacBook Pro's one 15 and one 13, both have mobile me and some pop email accounts with our own domains. Also have iphones that connect to the same network, all connecting to Airport Wireless.
So on occasion I can't access one of my domains (for example mydomain.com). So, when it happens:
1) I can't access the domain in mail, or entourage (on wife's computer). says: "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “mydomain.com” or try again."
2) I can't ping mydomain.com
3) I can't access it via the web browser.
I know the site is up and running because:
1) if I turn off wifi on iphone and go through att, email and safari access the domain ok.
2) I can also go to another domain that is on the same server and the same IP (via web browser, webmail and via ping).
3) I can also take my computer to the office and access the domains ok.
So It is as if the airport DNS tables at home get hung up on mydomain.com (perhaps because all the devices checking the same domain for email)? I've rebooted both the computer and Airport, and even cleared DNS cache on my local computer. Still nothing. I have to wait until it just magically starts working again.
So I'm out of ideas. Any Apple Ninjas out there care to take a guess on what my problem is? Is there a way to reset the router DNS without having to reset the device.

Go to System Preferences and then head to Sharing. See if there's anything weird there.

  • Can I send email using my own domain address with iCloud the way I can with gmail?

    Let's say I own mydomain.com and have a [email protected] email account.  I have set that up to forward to gmail, and that would be easy to switch to iCloud.  Here's the tricky part: gmail allows me to send email as [email protected]  I've been doing this for years and it works, but I'd like to switch from gmail to iCloud.  Can I set up this same behavior with an iCloud @me.com address (which I already have but haven't been using yet)?  I know I can obviously switch the forwarding of incoming mail to my @me.com address...  but can I send [email protected] email through iCloud the way I can with gmail?  All of my devices are Apple: a Mac Mini using Apple's Mail app, and an iPhone and an iPad both using the Apple email app, so I'd rather switch everything over from gmail to iCloud.
    P.S.  Awe, c'mon Apple.  Don't turn those fake addresses into links.  I just used them for the sake of giving an example.

    Ah, I should have made that clear.  My domain didn't come from google.  It was purchased at and is hosted at dreamhost, but I haven't used their email servers in years - I just route everything through gmail.  I actually have a bunch of domains (with websites).
    Gmail has an option that lets someone with custom domains send (and receive) email through gmail using the custom domain once Google confirms proper ownership of the domain (to prevent spammers and such).  Gmail has a setting for "send email as" which allows gmail to be sent using a custom domain as the sender.  I'm pretty sure Apple's old mobileme had this feature too, but I didn't use it.

  • Can't send email to my own domain

    The mail program on my iphone works fine, except for one thing - i can't send email to anyone using the domain name as me (our business has its own email domain).
    Since most of my emails are to other people inside our business, this is very frustrating).
    I am guessing I have done something silly in the set up, but am too much of a novice to figure it out.
    Any suggestions?

  • No errors with NAT or DHCP, but can't ping server or access internet

    2 weeks ago my Xserve was positioned directly behind a modem and acted as the router to my small office - supplying DHCP, NAT, etc. Then, the Xserve lost it's connection to the internet. The Xserve was unable to pull an address from the modem (via DHCP) and troubleshooting the issue with my ISP resulted in getting my modem swapped.
    My Xserve is still unable to pull an address via DHCP directly from the modem. So, I called apple support. The tech I spoke to was extremely helpful and instructed me to place the Xserve behind a router so it could use a static ip - without having to pay my ISP for one. So, I did as he instructed.
    Regardless, since my Xserve originally lost connection to the internet I have been unable to get my Xserve to supply NAT to my internal network successfully. DHCP is working fine, the firewall isn't logging any refusals, NAT isn't returning errors. All internal network functions work, I just can't access the internet from any machine other than the server.
    Here is the network port breakdown:

    The Xserve leases an ip to the devices on the network, but cannot ping them using their leased ip address.
    Initially, I was receiving the following error:
    "xserve subnets: create failed, Invalid/missing 'net_address' property
    So I modified bootpd.plist by adding:

    <string>192.168.1.0</string>
    I no longer receive the error and DHCP works properly.
    Any help is thoroughly appreciated as this issue has set me back over a week in troubleshooting.

    I'll try to be more clear about my current setup:
    Modem
    ->
    Router
    DHCP enabled but supplying server with static ip of: 192.168.1.2 - hence my Ethernet 1 settings on my Xserve. The DHCP address the router supplies to other devices range between 192.168.1.101 - 192.168.1.150 (this is temporary). I'm using the Router as a temporary network connection for devices as I continue to setup the server. Once the server is completed, I will hook everyone up through the switch.
    ->
    Xserve
    The Xserve receives a static IP from the router above (192.168.1.2) even though the router gives DHCP addresses to other devices. The Xserve then goes out Ethernet 2 to (which has also been assigned a static internal address: 192.168.1.3) a switch.
    ->
    Switch
    The Switch definitely has DHCP disabled, and merely extends the network connection.
    Right now, the Xserve is doing nothing other than attempting to supply an internet connection to devices attached to it. I performed a clean install after a day or two of troubleshooting.
    I really want to be able to control content access as well as give certain devices priority over others using the Xserve. I want it to control... the network, in all aspects: DNS, Open Directory (Master), Firewall etc. Am I still able to control the network with the Xserve if it is hooked up side by side to the clients without reconfiguring my router to hop through the Xserve before going to the internet? If not, why not just use the Xserve as a middle man as I currently do?
    What are the benefits of using it side by side to the clients? What are the drawbacks of my current setup? (Other than it not functioning)

    I am trying to add a gmail account to my iphone 5S which i have added a custom godaddy email to through pop3 but when i add the gmail account i cant send from the custom domain email.
    lets say the account is [email protected] with a [email protected] email attached to it, is there a way of sending emails from my iphone from this address?
    I have tried to find other guides but cannot seem to.

  • I can connect my cisco mobile vpn but can't ping & access internal IP

    i've configured mobile vpn configuration in cisco 7200 with GNS3. i can connect VPN to my cisco router with cisco vpn client software from outside. but i can't ping to internal ip and can't access internal resources.

  • VPN client connected to VPN but can't ping or access to server

    i need help urgently, had been troubleshooting for a day, but have no ideal what wrong with the config.
    Basically there is 2 set of VPN configured, one is site to site IPSEC VPN and another one is connect via VPN client software coexist in same router.
    This recently we having problem on client can't access or ping to internal server which is 192.168.6.3 from VPN client software.

    I did not try to ping 4.2.2.2. I just know I can not ping comcasts dns servers. I have updated the firmware on the router and it did not work. The computer was able to access the internet until about a week ago, I don't understand what could have changed that I would now need a static DNS.

  • Can't send email from internal server, same domain name as external.

    We have a domain "example.com", hosted externally, for email and a website.  We are thinking of hosting email 'inhouse' and have setup a dedicated subdomain on a 'fixed' IP, "mini.example.com" for AFP services mainly. mini.example.com provides DNS internally, its primary zone is also example.com. All access to the external web goes thru' a modem/router that the server is connected to. We have to set an A record for www access to our website.
    In our testing to migrate email, the internal setup works fine, until the switch over.  Now we can receive mail to the mini server, but can't send any out.
    We instructed our webhost provider to set the CNAME mail.example.com to point to mini.example.com and created a cPanel MX extry mail.example.com, 10 priority.  Previously, the external host had CNAME as mail.example.com to example.com and MX as example.com, 10 priority.
    Since the implementation of the CNAME change, we can't send emails out and they get stuck at the outbox waiting. Client Mail app, says to check for port and SSL and account settings.
    Any idea where we went wrong here and what we can do to get emails out? We could go to each computer and point-off the DNS to office IP, but we rather not.

    I got in this am to find Mail.app could actually send out emails and I'm stratching my head wondering what happened yesterday.
    SMTP server addresss was manually set to mail.example.com for all accounts. In trying to get things to work, the mail setup was redone again by "Accounts", in Systems Preferences, when Login is clicked on, and mail was automatically given a SMTP as mini.example.com instead of mail.example.com.  I'm guessing that that could be where the initial 'inside' problems were, given that it had a 0 answer to the MX query. Or then again I wasn't patient enough.

  • Can't get email since I added personal domain.

    I have changed my web hosting to .mac and set up my personal domain. hurray! now i can't get emails to respond to my personal email account. i used zoneedit.com to direct traffic to web.mac.com, but i don't know how to fix the email. my domain is registered through melbourne IT and it doesn't allow me to add a subdomain for the email. every time i try to send an email to my [email protected] account it says:
    Each of the following recipients was rejected by a remote mail server.
    The reasons given by the server are included to help you determine why
    each recipient was rejected.
    Recipient: <[email protected]>
    Reason: 5.7.1 Recipient access denied
    this is turning out to be more difficult than it should be. help??

    The answer to your problem is simple. Change your domain provider.
    www.1and1.com is probably the best for you and iWeb use.
    That's what I did. It's all automatic and takes just few days. And no more problems after that.

    To initiate a transfer you just need a credit or debit card. Then go to 1and1.com and check availability for your domain. Just type it into the Step 1 field on the their home page. It will not be available but next to it is gonna be TRANSFER DOMAIN button. Hit it and follow instructions.

    I just wanted to know how to make an email at my own domain so that i don't have to subscribe to something like godaddy.

    Using Adobe Hosting :
    - You would need to upgrade site plan to web basic+ which includes email service.
    - After adding domain , you can create email records which would be on default domain added to site.
    Using external hosting :
    - If your hosting provides email service then you can create email records on your domain
    - Or use third party email service.
    Email account creation is done on hosting platform wherever you are hosting your site.

  • Can Multiple Webgate/OAM/IdentityStores access one multitenant WLS domain?

    Can multiple access points ( web tier + OAM + Identity store) access one application?
    The objective here is to have one multi-tenant ADF application accessed by users who are authenthicated by their own enterprise sso and identity store. Authenthicated session should pass the context with list of all enterprise roles that user belongs to which would be used for authorization by the multitenant application. It is assumed here that naming convention for relevant roles is followed by all participating identity stores.
    Can Webgate/OAM and accessed WebLogic domain be configured to accomplish this?

    OAM can pass as header variables all of the things you mention. For example, you get these by default:
    OAM_REMOTE_USER containing the userid of the logged in user (eg "jsmith")
    HTTP_OAM_IDENTITY_DOMAIN containing the name of the Identity Store that the logged in user belongs to, as known to the OAM admin console (eg "SunLDAP")
    additionally you can define a headervar that contains the user's ldap group membership, and one that contains the user's full DN (or any other attribute and other information).
    Of course, any receiving app would need to be configured to consume this information.

  • Iphone 4s in settings can't access Notes or Mail.  Also can't access mail from home screen. Can't send email. All else is good.

    I need help. I have reset my iphone. I have turned it off then on. Still can't launch my built in mail app from home screen. When I try it goes to blank page then right back to home screen view.
    In settings for the iphone 4s I can not access Notes or Mail, Contacts,Calendars. When I tap either of the two they highlight in blue and then go right back to Home Screen view. I seem to be able to access everything else in settings with no trouble.
    From home screen I have no trouble I can launch the built in utility Notes with no problem. I also can launch Calendars from Home Screen view. My Contacts are still reachable by tapping Phone from H/S view then clicking on contacts.
    I can not launch mail. nor can I send email. Also the built in mail app is not showing it is recieving mail either. All else seems fine.
    I can log in to my email from Safari on iphone and from my laptop with no problem.
    Anyone have any suggestions?  My iphone is out of warranty. Apples only suggestions are To pay for support.

    from other domains like yahoo,gmail etc but from a specific domain we cannot receive emails from them. I checked the whitelist of our Exchange and that domain is currently listed.

    Contact iCloud support. Apple's spam filters may have detected spam coming from users on that domain and blocked all email from it.
