Can't place song onto iPhone on my new computer.

I just got my new computer today and I can't place songs on my new computer. Whenever I try to drag a file into the phone a circle with a diagonal line stretching across shows up (I have no idea what this sign is called). I also can't delete songs either. The only options when I right-click on songs are:
Play "song name"
Ping options
Get info
Anyone know a fix? I assume it's something like one iPhone per computer or something that's causing this? If so how do I change my iphone to connect to another computer?

You can't. It will get erased. This is the design of the iphone.
You need to move everything from your old computer ( or your backup copy of the old computer) to the new one.
The iphone is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing :File>Transfer Purchases

hi, my laptop was taken to be formatted, therefore i downloaded itunes onto my desktop. now i bought a few cds and would like to put those cds onto my ipod, how do i do this without erasing the songs that are already existing on my ipod? my desktop does not have any downloaded songs, and the itunes library is empty since i just downloaded the software.

Connect your iPod and when you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual.
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
If you want to recover the songs that are on your iPod and put them on your new computer, there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

Basically all I want to do is transfer a couple of songs to my phone from my office computer. Now I downloaded itunes on the desktop. But I cannot sync the music because it will delete all my songs from the phone. I am using window 7 on my old laptop right now. I would like to transfer all of my song along with rating and play to my new computer which is also using window 7. Does anyone know how to do it? I have try home sharing but I just transfer only song not rating and play.
I have tried consolidate method however not all my song are transferred especially the new songs I recently add.

Select the phone in the device list in iTunes, navigate to the music tab, check the music you want iTunes to sync with your phone, click the apply/sync button.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are using a new computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:

Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under iTunes>Preferences(under the edit menu if using Windows)>Devices in itunes.
2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book & iCal or Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, DO NOT SYNC at this point.
4. Store>Authorize this computer.
5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
7. Right click again and select backup.
8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.

First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

I cannot add songs to my Iphone 4S unless i buy through itunes. I RIP songs from my cds and they go to my library but when i drag to my iphone, it won't allow me to do so. how can i delete songs from iPhone when they are grayed out. It doesnt let me delete from itunes either and its just taking up space on my iphone and i cant even listen to the song that are grayed out

I did this with about 100 songs, and the problem is everytime I connect my iphone with itunes, It will automatically sync back every single song I did delete on the phone by swiping.
I did search on google and found out that serveral people has this problem. The songs wont delete from itunes library.
So why do they even make this function if it only deletes the songs for a short time?
