Can't Play an Audiobook

I bought an audiobook from iTunes. After it synced with my iPod nano, I saw it on the iPod, but when I went to it, it immediately went to the main menu. It skips there and won't play the book. I thought something went wrong with the download, so I bought the book a second time from iTunes. The same thing happens. It plays my other books and songs. Please let me know what to do.
Thank you

I am having the same problem only mine is with two of my songs. It will play in itunes and if I hook my ipod up to my xbox it will play the songs but if I try to listen to them just using my ipod it skips right over it but It says that I listened to it. I kept trying to play one of the songs over and over again but it still didnt work and now that song is number 2 in my top 25 most listen to songs. >< I need help with this too.

  • After upgrading to ios7 can't play an audiobook with the music app.

After upgrading to ios7 I have been unable to play an audiobook from the Music app. I am also not getting a clean sych. The ipad goes through the sych steps through step 8, but just continues to sit waiting to apply changes.Any idea as to what the problem might be? Can I reload ios7?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • I can't play an audiobook on 6th gen Nano

I listen to a lot of audiobooks from the library. Until I got my sister an ipod I always listened on CD. But now I'd like to listen on the ipod, but can't figure out how to get them so the audiobook menu item on the ipod screen.
When I plug the Nano into my PC I can see all the .wma book sections. But I cannot access them from the Nano. What do I need to do?
Do I need to put a newer version of itunes on the Nano? If so, I have no idea how to do that. I just bought the Nano yesterday

If you get your mp3 files on itunes, right click on it, click info, click options, find where choose between medias(music, audiobooks, video, ect.), and click on audiobook. It pops up in the audiobooks section. The part you need to get first is make sure you have a mp3 file and just drag it on to i-tunes.

  • How can I fix corrupted audiobooks category--plays too fast and is gravelly?

How can I fix corrupted audiobooks category--plays too fast and is gravelly? Other music categories are unaffected..

On the audio book (and podcast) playing screen there is a playback speed selector. It is the box on the right hand side of the screen right below the scrubber bar. It say either 1/2X, 1X or 2X, the playback speeds. Tap the box to cycle through the playback speeds.

  • ITunes says it's authorized my computer, but I still can't play audiobooks

I'm having a very weird and frustrating problem. I've just bought an audiobook from the iTunes store, and I can't play it. Every time I try to play it a dialog comes up that asks me for my password so I can authorize my computer with the iTunes store, and when I type it in, it tells me that I'm authorized (actually, what it says is that the computer already was authorized). But the audiobook does not start playing. So I click it to play it again, and once more, the dialog comes up asking for my password, like the computer never was authorized. Of course, the same thing happens if I type in my password again (It tells me I'm authorized, but doesn't allow me to play the file).
I've tried deauthorizing my computer and authorizing again, deauthorizing all my computers from the iTunes store and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes from scratch. Nothing worked, still wouldn't authorize me.
Since I can't seem to authorize my computer, I can't copy the file to my devices, which all means that there is no way I can play the audiobook that I bought at all. This is really frustrating, and I'm hoping someone can help.

  • ITunes-bought audiobook -- can I play it on a Sony (MP3) Walkman via Window

Can you even play audiobooks on MP3 players at all? Thanks.

iTunes-bought audiobook -- can I play it on a Sony (MP3) Walkman via Window.
No. It contains Fairplay DRM and you must use iTunes/iPod to play them.
You can burn them to an audio CD and use as you would any other audio CD.
Can you even play audiobooks on MP3 players at all?
If the audiobook is the correct file type/format to play on the player you have, yes.

  • Why can't I play my audiobook on my iPhone?

My iPhone won't allow me to play my audiobooks. It shows them, and when I select the book, it shows it briefly, then slides back out of view.

Yes. It's on my computer, and sync'd to my iphone. It worked last week, and now it doesn't. I've always been able to listen to my books on my phone, until recently.?.? Thanks.

  • Just bought and downloaded an audiobook but it shows up with ! and I can't play it. Why?

It's Le Hobbit, read by Dominique Pinon. I can see it but can't play it.

You may be able to re-download the file like so:
First, delete the file. Then, in iTunes:
    1. Go to "iTunes Store"
    2. Click on "Purchased"
    3. Find the file from there and click the cloud next to the file.
Let me know if this worked.

  • Can no longer transfer audiobooks from overdrive to ipod nano 6

Can no longer transfer audiobooks from overdrive to ipod nano 6. Diagnostics: Connectivity test-ipod found. Sync test -ipod not found. This problem began about 2 weeks ago. I downloaded itunes update 12.1.0.71 about 1 week ago. I'm on Windows 7.

Do you mean a playlist created by Overdrive?
I downloaded the newest version of ODM yesterday.  Couldn't do it from within the application, had to uninstall/reinstall it.  Here's what's happening now with WMA, which is my preferred format:
-Instead of just moving the audiobook and cover graphic and all that over as in the past, now ODM creates a separate playlist under 'Books' in your device.  Problem is, only some (seemingly random) tracks go over there.  The others just show up under 'Books' but not in the specified playlist, so you have to drag them over in iTunes.
-If you stop listening, it starts over from the beginning next time you're ready to resume, so if you expect to find your place again right away like in the good old days, think again.
-For me the WORST PART is only so much data of that sort is permitted under 'Books' so it seems, because after a certain threshold the transferred parts of books become greyed out and cannot be played.  You are limited to far less data in a period of time than previously.  I used to be able to keep several books on my device at once and listen to multiple things depending on my mood etc.  Now I can fit about 2-3 big books, or 4-6 smaller ones, MUCH less than previously was possible, which is a problem if you've waited for a popular title at the library that you don't have the room for (even though you have plenty of memory in the device).
All in all, I think ODM need to get their act together.  We should not allow them to think they are done with this upgrade, the fixes might be okay for temporary, but they are unacceptable for a permanent format.  They have a phone number on their website.  I left a message.  Others have been tweeting them too, not sure of the contact info.
Good luck everyone.  Post back here if you find something out.

  • How I can sort music files (audiobook) in music player on iPhone by file name, not by title name?

I have audiobook of abt.500 files, all titles are the name of the book. iPhone music player does not understand sorting by file names, but by title, hterfore it plays files chaotic. So, how I can sort audiobook files in music player by file name, not by title name?

    I have the same problem.
I've went through the pains of merging all chapters into one big file for each and every audiobook, so that at least the chapters don't get played in random order. Month and month of work….. In iTunes 12.01. I can now order my audiobooks by title or by author.
But once they're uploaded to my blo*dy expensive iPhone 6Plus 128 (which I bought especially to have all my music and my audiobooks on one device) my audiobooks are NOT sorted by author, but by Title.
So, let's say I have 15 books by Ken Follet, they don't appear as Ken Follet > Title of the book but they are sorted alphabetically with all the other titles of other authors.
iPods where originally designed for music and audiobooks, but each and every version of iOS makes handling your music and especially your audiobooks harder and harder….
I am very disappointed and after so many years of using apple, I am considering to move on to android devices.

  • I can't put an audiobook I bought on iTunes on my iPod. Any suggestions?, I can't put an audiobook I bought on iTunes on my iPod. Any suggestions?

I purchased an audiobook from iTunes a few months back and i can't put it on my iPod. I have an 80 gig iPod with PALENTY of space but for whatever reason i can't load the audiobook onto it. What's frustrating is that i can load movies, music and games on, just not this d*%$ audiobook. It's an older iPod (probably first or second generation at best) but i've never had any issues up till now. I manually manage all my songs on iTunes and my iPod, my computer IS authorized and i purchased this audiobook on my account which i've used to buy TONS of other stuff with. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the quick reply, Niel
Well, I am not exactly sure how to check that I used the same ID for those songs. I'm certain I used the same ID ("[email protected]"), but I recently changed my password. I did open up one of the songs that I can't play/sync using Command-I, and it says that it was purchased by "Sheryl" (mgvartist), which is my mum's name, but "mgvartist" is my ID name (just without the email attachments). I have no idea why this is like this or how I can change it.
I am afraid to delete these songs without knowing for sure if I can even redownload them. How can I check that I am allowed to redownload them? (I live in the United States.)
    Thank you for your time

  • I cannot play my audiobooks on my Iphone

For some reason, I can no longer play my audiobooks? I have several and went to listen today, and cannot hear them. My songs play fine.  I  have synced my phone to my ITunes and downloaded all purchases. All my purchased songs transferred to my computer, but none of my audiobooks did. Should they have transferred also?  Why can I not hear them?

That lock is the screen orientation, I believe.  Has nothing to do with Wi-Fi.
Wheny ou say you can't turn on Wi-FI, do you mean it is 'greyed out', or that it will not connect to a Wi-Fi network?

Do I need to load a different dictionary of English and I enunciate the word FANG very clearly in English. HELP and Mom thanks you in advance.
