Can't play any media on 10.6.4!

Yikes! All of a sudden, in the last day or two, I've lost the ability to play ANY media file on my mac mini with 10.6.4! I've downloaded some video from my iPhone 4: the video is there, I can scrub to any point in the video but when I click Play, it flashes briefly to Pause, then the icon reverts back to play. I click play in iTunes, I see the indicator that iTunes should be playing the song, the play button changes to pause but the slider never moves, the music never plays!
I'm posting this here because I don't think it's specific to any one application. I move a video from the iPhoto archive to the desktop and it still won't play. I can scrub within the file in QT Player, but it won't play!
No new downloads of note, though I did upgrade the mini's memory from 2 gb to 4 at roughly the same time. Everything else seems to be working normally.
Would appreciate any insights! I've restarted and repaired disk permissions.

Turned out the problem wasn't QT at all. I did some additional investigation after I posted my query and discovered that, in the Sound control panel, NO devices were listed. I knew that was a big problem, and likely related to my memory upgrade in the mini a few nights before. Sure enough, it turned out that I'd failed to connect the little copper colored strip you see when the lid of the mini is popped up. Problem solved. Mac mini memory modders beware!

Firefox suddenly can not play any media (video, NPR programs, etc)

Recently, without a reason I can point to, I can no longer play videos on YouTube or listen to NPR programs.
I have seen another post that suggested that it is the fault of a recent Flash update, but everything works fine in Chrome and IE on this same computer.
I have uninstalled Firefox, rebooted and reinstalled w/o change in behavior.
I am running windows 7.

Would these replies/fixes apply to Win Vista system too? ff14, ff15, both slow as molasses loading web pages. They both seem to hang for a while, then start loading again. Flash ?? Give me a break. Updated to 11.3 when instructed to by updates procedure, then to 11.4. Neither one of these will load/play videos. Keeps "buffering". By the way, there was something about Flash incompatability with Real Player on the Adobe website. Who owns Shockwave Flash? Is it same as Adobe Flash?

I can't play any sort of media on my bb curve 8520

I received this phone from my dad who got a newer version. Everything was working fine when he had it, but I took it I went through "security options" and pressed a "security erase" everything he had was reset in order for me to be able to configure my email accounts, etc.
But now I can't play any music or videos, not from youtube or from the media player on the phone, I mean it doesn't even play the song that comes for default! an error saying "Unable to play content" keeps coming up, and I have already taken out the battery and put it back on three times.
Please help me!!

I had to reset it again and use the desktop software reinstalling the entire basic software. On your desktop blackberry software go to the software up date thoght tools and if there are no newer veresions available, chose the botton for las version and intall it.

it sounds like a tagging problem, but I'm not sure how to help.... what kind of files are they? Typically, if they are organized properly in WMP, they should organize well in the Zen... go to WMP and try the advanced tag editor.

Can't play any music or videos after 7.4.3.1 upgrade

Any body seen this type of problem after the update??
After upgrading to iTunes 7.4.3.1 I can't play any music on my PC. iTunes allows me to select the tune piece from the library, loads the player and just sits there not advancing the song.
If I try to play am MP3 through Windows Media Player same thing happens. I also can't play any of the video files I have on dick either. They play a few seconds worth, pause, then play a pit more and it repeats.

If two of your media players are doing that, we'd better have a look in your control panels.
Open your "Sounds and Audio Devices" control panel. Click the "Audio" tab.

The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not inlcuded synced media like apps and music. Thes those iTunes are not restored to the iPod unless they are in the iTunes library.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > iTunes being set 'off' ?

I emptied trash with itunes in it accidentally and now can't play any songs on itunes what can i do?

so i needed to clear disk space so i could use imovie more, so i put a load of stuff in trash and emptied it, but somehow i stupidly put itunes there too, so now when on itunes i can't play any songs because it keeps asking me to "Locate" it, which i can't do because it doesn't exist anymore arrrggh! i can't use any of my songs on imovie either, it's very frustrating. If there is any way at all that i could recover the songs so i could play them on itunes then that would be great-

If you don't have a back up, you have lost your music.
If you have iTunes Store purchases, you can go into iTunes Store and redownload previous purchases.

Sorry I can't help but I have potentially a similar problem.
We have an Apple TV 3 and after the most recent software update (potentially coincidental timing), our purchased movies & TV shows will no longer play for our US account. We can play previews but that's it. We also tried renting a new movie but that didn't work either. No error messsage, just select play, it thinks about it, then returns you to the same screen again.

I take it you tried using the "right click" menu? That doesn't seem to work, as you noted, but, you should be able to paste text by pressing your CTRL key and while holding it down, press the "V" letter key.
CTRL + C = COPY
CTRL + X = CUT
CTRL + V = PASTE

I had noticed some quick little screen flashes, but everything had played fine just the night before.

Sites such as YouTube require Flash ...
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Back to Safari. Press Command + Option + E to empty the Safari cache.
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a video.
If that doesn't help, you may have the YouTube HTML5 beta enabled.

Wireless network setup with Microsoft virtual mini-port adapter, since connecting my iPad to the network I can't play any video in Safari in sites like Youtube or cnet...etc. also other Apps that depend on Safari to play videos has the same problem.
I tried my iPhone 5s, the same problem. Both iPad and iPhone has iOS 7.1.1.
The strange thing is that My iPhone 4 iOS v5.1.1 doesn't has the problem with this wireless network.
Anyone had the same problem. Please help.

Can't play any music on PC any more

I have 5800 CWM phone and the CWM licence expired in October 2010. Tthat's fine, as I was able to keep playing the music I had downloaded on both my registered PC and the phone itself.
After a little while I could no longer transfer music from PC to phone. I have about 20GB of music and the phone has about 5GB of space for music so periodically I would transfer different stuff to the phone.
Then I started being unable to play some songs on the PC at all - licence problems for some songs while others would play OK.
Now I can not play any music on the PC at all. I'm getting an error messge saying there is no licence, then an optimistic message saying "Your licence is being delivered" which would not happen. Then I would get a message saying I needed to delete the song/album and redownload it from my download history. I can see my download history but no longer have an option to re-download it - I can only buy it.
Additionally I am now getting a messge saying that "We can't sign you in" and that I need an OVI Music account which I already have. I can login to Ovi.com with it just fine.
This is starting to get really tiresome. From having a handset which i could download any music for a year and keep after the year was up, on both the PC and the phone. I now only have the music that is already on the phone. The remaining music I can't access and indeed can't play any of it at all on the PC.
Does anyone else have this kind of problem that has been fixed? BTW it is now a level 3 support problem with no fix in sight. Sorry for the long post.

Finally got the first part of the problem fixed. Though Ovi player said it was my registered PC, it was not. Nokia support (2nd level?) reset it so I can now see my Download History.
All was fine initially - started re-downloading all the albums I had downloaded and which no longer worked.
Fine for stuff after Oct 2010. Anything older than that I cannot download the album with 1 click, and instead have to download each individual track one at a time, then navigate away from that page, then back again to get track 2 etc etc. Which is about a 30sec round trip for each track. I had about 519 albums with about 8000 songs lots of classical) so that's 4000 minutes for me sat here manually downloading everything again.
Then, I thought I could use the website ovi.com instead to download music, rather than Ovi player, but... when I logged in there it claims that I am not using my registered PC (though I have the Ovi player open on the same PC saying it is registered).
Just being able to download the albums in one go would be nice. Not as nice as not having to do it at all, but it would be good nonetheless.
Even having a REFRESH option on the download history page would be nice. Or navigation to pages at the TOPas well as the bottom of the page.
It really starts to look like it is designed to be so frustrating that people eventually don't bother any more. It'll take me months (at 1 hour a day) to manually download all the stuff I used to have.

My 4th Gen iPod touch freezes often and doesn't allow me to play any media.

I had a replacement for my 4th Gen and after a few months it would play a video but the sound would cut off and for some time it wouldn't play any media and was very unresponsive but came back to normal soon after. However just a few days ago it has been stuck like this since and will not play any thing. I have restored it, restarted it, erased all media and settings and put it all back on, but it still unresponsive and doesn't play media.

Try:

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray BEFORE doing the reset.
