Can't play burned Dvd-'s on DR4-A

After recording a movie with dr4-A, I can't play it through the dr4-A, but with my other dvdplayer it plays well and also with my tvdvdplayer
Is there a solution to solve this problem or should i just go back to the store
Tnx

Try to get a DVD+/- R that are burn over from another drive and see if your DR4-A can pick up the data.

  • Superdrive won't play burned DVDs

So now my SuperDrive won't play DVDs that were burned by my superdrive. It will play store bought DVDs, however its hit or miss with the burned DVDs, every once in a while it will recognize a burned DVD, but most of the time you can hear it trying to read the disc and then just ejects it...these are DVDs that I burned on this computer. What gives, I would think that it should be able to play burned DVDs, especially when they were burned using the same drive. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Is it me or does it seem like the quality of Apple Products has gone down over the years. I rarely had any issues with my older Apple Laptops, however, it seems like I'm constantly on this discussion trying to solve some sort of problem with this one. Thought I was upgrading when I bought this 17" PB, well I got a faster laptop, along with a bunch of headaches trying to fix it...somebody please give me some answers.

    The problem is 2 fold.
You must use good quality Media. Not bargin basement cheap media. This more than any other thing is a huge problem. I find that using 16X DVD-R Media. This is the most recognised of all media for player, and computer recognition.
Most users make there biggest mistake by buying cheap media and then can't fiqure out why they have a problem.
Next It is a Software problem. Apple's media can sometimes be a problem to learn and use and is very limited as to it's capability.
I find that if you plan on doing a lot of burning you need to have a top of the line software.
    http://www.roxio.com/
This software comes with several features, This software will burn
    Video TS
    Audio
    Data
And most importantly has an automatic compression feature, that will compress Video TS folders that are larger than 4.7gb to fit on a standard 4.7gb disc.
If you plan to do dvd burning here are 3 links that will not only back up what I have stated above, but gives all users a ton of important information.

  • I can't play a DVD from my superdrive via my macbook pro to apple TV via airplay.

I can't play a DVD from my superdrive via my macbook pro to apple TV via airplay.  The movie plays fine on the macbook if I'm not trying to airplay.  The airplay works fine if I'm not trying to play a movie from the superdrive.  I think my apple TV is Gen 2.

If you get a checkerboard pattern it's because Apple block Airplay Mirroring of protected media.
    VLC Player may work.

  • Can No Longer Burn DVDs

I have a Lenovo G700 series laptop and have recently found that I can no longer burn DVDs.  I can burn CDs and the drive can read DVDs & CDs.
I trawled the forums for any clue of what has gone askew including the registry fix, tried different media, different burning programs, files vs disc images and still no result.
I, and also a friend who works in IT suspect a hardware fault and, since still under warranty, contacted the support helpline who were quick to answer.  went through all the options for diagnostics and came down the "hit the system with the One-Key-Recovery" option to reset it back to factory preset condition to see if that fixed it.
    Problem........
I have spent a very long time getting this machine set up with my home studio software etc and have large amounts of data which beggers the question, do I want to go through all that and how do I back up all my data prior to that as the machine will be wiped with no DVD writer.  I assured the guy on the phone that we we almost certain that it was the ODD hardware that had failed and could he send out a replacement?
Being still under warranty, I would have to return it to the service center where they would......... guess what, reset to factory preset prior to fitting the new hardware to ensure that the hardware was indeed faulty.
    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!
    Catch 22
Why can they not just send out a replacement drive for me to fit myself?
Warranty runs out in September which is probably how long it will take me to zip and backup my data using CDs or for out a pile of cash on a USB HDD all for the price of a replacement drive.
    Can someone please help?

Anyone know how I can get someone from Lenovo Customer Support to read & reply to this post?  I'm not that sussed with forum methods.

  • Can no longer burn DVD's on my MacBook Pro

As the title says, I can no longer burn DVD's. I can burn CD's but not DVD's. I get Sense= code errors and stuff no matter what burner I try out. It doesn't always want to read the DVD's either but ejects them one- two times before it surrenders and starts reading the disc. I've had this Mac for about 1.4 years and I haven't been sitting around every day since, slotting 30 discs in and out of it all day long, i.e the drive hasn't seen that much action to justify this problem.
It can't have anything to do with the media as I've been reading a lot about since the DVD's I try to use have worked perfectly fine before this problem popped up. And I find it hard to believe that my $3200 Mac aint equipped to burn these things and especially not since it was able to earlier. It stopped burning about 2-3 months ago so my guesstimate is that one update or the other from Apple screwed things up but I have no idea how to find out what that might be or more to the point how to solve it.
So, since I strongly disbelieve the media factor ( I have tried different brands and that if it would only be able to burn Verbatim discs then that would be ridiculous ) I wonder if there's any real solution to this. Any firmware to be found for it or some such? I've tried to browse around the Downloads section but can't seem to find anything that addresses this issue. I've also googled quite a bit about it and I've found many others who experience the same problem(s) but never any real solution for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • IDVD CAN  I PLAY A DVD FROM MY MAC ON TO MY TV ?

    PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP
CAN I PLAY A DVD FROM MY MAC ON TO MY TV BY CONNECTING IT SOME HOW ?

    Hi
Does Your Mac have a S-video out ? Some does.
The way to connect isn't easy or straight forward - I use a S-VHS VCR in between
and now one can buy a DVD-player for less than $75-50 I wonder if it's really
    worth the hazzle.
Playback from iMovie via FireWire and an Analog/Digital box to TV is one way
but then the DVD has to be converted to streamingDV.
iDVD can't deliver out to FireWire
    DVD-player not so either
And PLEASE ! Don't shout (using capital letters = Shouting on e-media)

  • Superdrive can read and burn dvds but CANNOT read or burn CDs??

My DVR-107D can read and burn DVD's, but all of a sudden it cannot even read or mount a cd. It also cannot burn CD's. I've run 2 cleaning discs, and even manually cleaned the lens. I feel it may be a software issue at this point... Any ideas?? Finder is set to open CDs and DVDs to the desktop.

    Hi
There are two lenses in the drive. It is possible for one to fail while the other still functions. I manually cleaning the lenses made no difference, it is quite possible that aspect of the drive is dead.
You may want to try from a different admin User account (and with a third party app such as Toast, in addition to Finder, iTunes, iPhoto, Disc Utility)

  • How can I play a dvd on my Mac and display it through Apple TV

I want to use my DVD drive on my mac to play back movies through my apple tv2. I notice that on my iPad, iPhone, iTunes on my computer all have the AirPlay option to display the video on my TV through Apple TV. I do not want to burn my DVD onto my Mac and play through iTunes becasue its a hassle.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
One thing you can do is to play the DVD in your Mac using DVD Player instead of iTunes, and then, turn on AirPlay Mirroring to stream your computer's display to your Apple TV > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404
If your Mac isn't compatible with AirPlay Mirroring, use a third-party app like AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com This is the only option, because the Apple TV isn't compatible with discs
Logical but it won't work - DVD player output will be a grey checkerboard pattern.
Apple apps prevent Airplay of DVD content at low level presumably for some copy protection reason.
VLC player is believed to work.

  • HELP!!! HD DVD can't play with DVD PLAYER

Made a DVD with final cut pro from Sony HDV camcorder, play well on Macbook pro but can not play on regular DVD PLAYER

That shouldn't surprise you.  DVD players can play DVDs, which are standard definition.  They will not play HD DVD discs.  For that you need a Mac or one of the (now obsolete) Toshiba HD DVD players.
Essentially, you have three options for delivering video on optical disc.:
DVD: standard definition content only.  Finalized disc will play in DVD players and most computers with DVD drives and player software installed.
HD DVD: an obsolete format that was abandoned by its developers after losing out to Blu-ray.  HD DVDs use the same DVD-5 discs as DVD, but will play HD  content when played in an HD DVD player (none currently being made) or in later model Mac computers.  HD DVD discs will NOT play in DVD players.
Blu-ray: Can play Blu-ray discs and DVD discs.  Blu-ray can contain both HD and SD content.  To create a Blu-ray disc, you'll need Blu-ray authoring software and a Blu-ray burner.  To view the disc, you'll need a Blu-ray player.  DVD players will not play Blu-ray discs.

  • Unable to play burned DVD

    Hi,
I part-time video edit and my latest customer complained that the DVD I gave her couldn't be played in her DVD Player. I made the project using Final Cut Pro, exported it via Compressor and burned the .ac3 and .m2v in DVD Studio Pro.
I tried playing the burned DVD in a PC and found that I needed to download a codec in order to play the video. This is on an XP and goes the same on Vista. However, it plays fine in QT on a Mac.
I have 2 DVD players, the conventional one where it only plays DVDs and a newer one where it can read & play movies on thumbdrives/hard drives via USB too. On the newer one, the DVD plays just fine. However, on the older one, it doesn't. So I assume the customer's DVD player is similar to my older one which can't play my burned DVDs.
What is causing this problem and how do I solve it? My projects burned using Adobe Premiere Elements work fine. I'm using DVD-R printable.

How did you burn the ac3 and m2v file in DVD SP? Did you create tracks? Did you create menus? If your disc will not play in a stand alone DVD player then you did not author it correctly. A PC would only download a codec if it's seeing the disc as something other than a properly authored video DVD.

  • Dvd player 3.2 unable to play burned dvd-  Any suggestions?

    Hello all,
I'm trying to play a burned dvd movie on my dvd player 3.2, but the dvd player doesn't automatically start playing it. My ibook, 10.2.8, doesn't seem to be able to read it. However, I tried the dvd on a new Mac and it works.
Any suggestions on what to do, besides buying a new Mac? Thanks!

I can't find the "post new topic" so I'm choosing
"reply" and hoping someone can help.
The new topic button is at the root level of each forum (like iDVD 5 or iDVD 6) towards the upper left corner. You won't see it when you are looking at someone else's messages.
I have an iMac, 10.2.8, with a DVD Player 3.2 that
has been working fine for several years.
The last few weeks when I put in a commercially made
DVD, it won't play. It doesn't automatically show up
on the desktop, and when I manually open the DVD
Player, it doesn't read the disk although the program
opens without problem. This isn't happening to all
    commercial DVDs, but most.
This isn't happening to all commercial DVDs - Doesn't sound like a problem with Apple's DVD Player application - you may have a dirty lens in your DVD drive.

  • No sound when playing burned DVD with Windows Media Player

    Hello!
I made a 10 minute movie which I burned , tested and delivered today.
But it turns out that when playing the DVD with WMP, there is no sound.
I had tested the movie playing it with powerDVD, and it worked as it should. When playing it with a normal DVD player and TV it works allright.
But I had not tested it with WMP. And sure enough, when playing it with WMP there is no sound!
The ones who will show the DVD will do it from a computer to a video projector, and maybe they don't have a "proper" DVD program installed. But I heard that there was sound when playing with "VLC" which is a relief.
But I feel the need to get to the bottom of why there is no sound with WMP? Any clues?

In NTSC-land, one has but two choices: PCM/WAV or DD AC3, which is a particular "flavor" of MPEG. In PAL-land, one does have the option of MPEG (not DD AC3) as an option, but that seems to be falling out of favor.
When MS was re-tooling WMP, they wanted to add back the functionality of commercial (pressed/replicated) DVD's, but sought to limit any burned DVD's. Do not know what the mindset is now, so much could have changed with a few iterations of WMP. I have to admit that I just do not reach for it that often.
In the Project, or Disc, menus, one can tell En which Audio Transcoding to use. As John T, suggests, I would definitely do a test with PCM/WAV, and X my fingers.
If your client(s) is/are set on WMP as the player, there is hopefully a scheme that you can get to work. Also, remember that some older versions of WMP might not play the DVD at all, unless one finds the right plug-in, that basically hacked the intended setup in those older versions. Just like when delivering to a client, and not knowing their systems' calibration, or setup, trying to cover every base in a particular player software might involve a lot of work, and prayer.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
