Can't play embedded videos in Safari

I'm using Version 6.0.2 and I can't play embedded videos. Youtube is fine but if someone includes a video in a blog post, for example, there's a big white blank space where the vid is supposed to be. It happens in both Safari and Firefox. I've paused AdBlock and can't think of what else might be causing the problem. I'm running Virus Barrier X6, if that's any help, although it hasn't been a problem in the past. Could it be an extension?

After some messing around, I found out that I can't press the red/white play button on the middle of the picture. For some reason, that isn't clickable anymore. Instead, if I press anywhere on the picture preview except for the red/white play button, then the video will play fine.
I Don't remember having to do that before, but at least I can watch embedded videos again.

Hi I can't play YouTube videos on Safari any more. I have noticed that I can play videos on Safari but not on YouTube. When atempting to watch a video on You Tube it won't finish loading. It appears to load at first evenutally stops before the video can play. I then receive the "Plug-in Failure" message.
I am using Safari 5.1.7 on Mac OS X 10.7.4.
I believe I am using the latest version of Abobe Flash Player, which I downloaded when I first noticed the problem.

Can't play embedded videos. Shows large question mark where the video is.

Need some help. I'm not able to play any embedded videos and all I get is the big Q with a question mark over it. I've tried reinstalling and checked the permissions in the registry. The problem that I found is that in the QuickTime preferences, on the File Type menu, there is absolutely nothing in there, just a blank white space. Any suggestions?

Had the same problem; quicktime plugin would only work for administrative users not normal "limited" user. I temporarily promoted the user to administrator and the plugin worked fine. When I restored the user back to limited it still worked. I only had this problem on one computer so I don't really know the root cause. For reference, the computer was running Windows XP Pro, SP3, on a Windows Active Directory domain, using free Quicktime version 7.6.2.

Can't play Quicktime videos in Safari after 1.1.2 update

My iphone would play videos perfectly, such as trailers from say http://iphone/pocketmovies.net.
However after an automatic update to firmware 1.1.2, although I can see the first frame of such movies in the Safari page, no play button is displayed. I can finger click to my hearts content.
Same with other sites, including the tutorial videos on http://www/apple.com/iphone
podcast from say the BBC have the Q/T symbol greyed-out.
Anyone else seen this behaviour? I can be pretty certain the problem was seen immediately after the 1.1.2 update.

It might depend on the video. For example, on www.apple.com, I can play the older Get a Mac adds, but not the most recent three. (The older ones have the blue triangular play button which launches full-screen video, while the new ones have the same button which, as others have said, gets crossed out upon launch attempt).
No idea if the new ones are set up differently.

If your machine is 2011 or later, running 10.8 or later, and is connected to the same network as your Apple TV, you can use the Airplay feature to mirror the machine's display:
Note that Apple TV also has a built in youtube application found on it's main menu.

Can I play embedded video in Adobe Reader for mobile device (android tablet)?

Repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the menu bar, quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
If that didn't help, install the v10.5.8 combo update.

My understanding is that you should definitely be able to play youtube videos using a Wi-Fi network. To me, it sounds as though the issue may be more network related as the videos will work over cellular data. I have a couple questions I believe could help narrow down the exact issue:
• Is the device able to browse to other websites while connected to Wi-Fi, or will no sites work?
• Are there other devices (iPads, iPhones, computers, etc) that work on the same Wi-Fi network?

I can't watch YouTube Videos on my IPhone 4 (iOS 5.0.1 No jailbreak) The Debug Console from Safari tells me, that there's a mistake in the JavaScript. How to fix it? Flash wont play embedded videos only on some accounts

Here is my system and software configuration. Windows7 - IE8 32 bit -- latest Flash version. Flash plays embedded videos under administrator account but not on the other user accounts. Youtube and tests on adobe site shows flash working on all accounts. I've checked IE security settings and kill bit in the registry. Harware acceleration does not make a difference. I've unloaded and loaded Flash multiple times even in the other accounts changing account type to administrator temporarily. Nothing will make it work. I've checked firewall and Norton AV turning them on and off. I am out of ideas and out of patience. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, just wanted to tell this is exactly the same problems I have. And I have tested like you said. My administrator user account can show embeded videos correctly, but both my non-adm user account can not show correctly embeded. And tried to change non-adm account to adm - did not help.
System: Vista home, IExplorer 9
Videos on Youtube.com plays perfect and the adobe "about" flash page shows I have installed latest and I see a spinning logo with my non-adm users.
I have also checked the kill-bit in registery.
But I did find out something, unfortunally it's not a solution, but a clue what's going on - I hope.
If I open this example webpage, all I can see are 2 blank frames and a icon in upper left corner.
If I open same weblink with my adminastror, I can see the videos.

After alot of search on the web, I found some ideas. Copy the below text and save it as "test.html", and open the file in IExplorer. This html text is a mix of collected html-text from above webpage and added some from youtube.com where you get the html-code to copy&paste to embed. The source at end is using IFRAME methode.
The only visible embeded sources using my non-adm account are those that has a "classid" added or IFRAME methode. If there is no "classid" my non-adm account only sees a blank frame and icon in upper left. My administrator account does see ALL sources.
But how to fix that I can see all embeded as non-adm user - sorry, I have no clue
One extra thing: I noticed when running IExplorer as non-adm user, I can see a line in the process-list in windows taskmananger, process-name "FlashUtil10n_ActiveX.exe" with info-text "Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 10.2r152" if I try to view a webpage with flash source.
If I do the same thing with my administrator user this process is not listed in windows taskmanager.

Can't play quicktime video in IE 11 on Windows 8.1

So, I wanted to watch the sweet new film of the iPhone 6, but after I click the "Watch the film" link, all I get is the player control... I can't get the video to play:
I'm running the latest version of IE 11 on Windows 8.1 64-bit. I also have the latest version of QuickTime v7.7.1.
For what it's worth, I also can't watch the video in Chrome, presumably because I have the latest version of Chrome 37.0.2062.120 m (64-bit) and the QuickTime plugin is only 32-bit and not compatible with this version of Chrome.

I updated quicktime to 7.7.5, restarted my computer, and again I was not able to view the video. Just like the screenshot above, I can see the player, but I can't play the video. I then tried to re-install, by selecting repair as you suggested, and still it does not work.
Surely I'm not the only person with this issue.
