Can't play movies from library on Apple tv

I have been streaming purchased content from my PC to my apple tv with no problems until today. I can see my PC library displayed on the apple tv menu on my tv. I can select a movie to play but after a bit of spinning I end up with the message "authorization is required" and instructions on how to authorize my PC through itunes. I have tried so many different things to correct this but with no luck. I have deauthorized and authorized. I removed all other authorized computers, so my PC is the only one of the five that is authorized. I have reset my apple tv. The problem is not the ATV2 because it recognized my library from my PC but it will not play. I only have one apple ID so I know that is not the problem. I can play all purchased on my PC and stream it to the apple tv via airplay. But I cannot directly play a movie due to the "authorization is required message." I have no idea what to do. Any ideas, or similar issues anyone has been able to resolve?

From what I've been able to tell from other postings, it's related to the Apple servers - they are being upgraded for the iCloud and many Apple TV users are getting the "Need to Authorize Computer" message when they try to play a TV show or movie. Your iTunes movie RENTALS and MUSIC should still work though.
A get-around is to stream your TV shows and purchased movies. To do that, start the movie or TV show in iTunes on your computer as if you are going to watch it on your computer. Once it starts to play, click on the little icon in the lower right-hand corner (hover your mouse around the area to get it to show up)....and then click on "Apple TV" (one of the two options the little icon gives you).....that will start it streaming on your TV. It's going to "push" it to your APple TV box rather than it being pulled there by Apple TV itself.

I don't usually download video from the iTunes store. I had a couple of long plane rides coming up and thought I might have time to watch the Stanford IOS7 programming class. On the plane I discovered this issue which has gone unaddressed since 2011 and has been worsened in Mavericks. in 2011 the advice was to open iTunes' get info pane and click run in 32 bit. That worked at least for some people. In Mavericks, iTunes will not launch in 32 bit.

) you can click on the file in the finder and it will launch in QuickTime. For some reason on the plane I could see the first lecture in the iTunes view but, although I could see all the other lectures in the finder, I could not see the first one.
Ah well, maybe some other year I'll think about getting up to speed on ios7. Heck, maybe by then they will design a decent user experience.

You may have some problems because Apple has not certified that everything works with Windows 8 yet.

Can't play movie from gallery on mac

I can not play movies from my gallery on my macbook. These movies are imported from Canon A630 to iPhoto. In iPhoto I can play them well. All of them are published to my mobileme gallery using iPhoto. Then I open this gallery in Safari on my macbook to check if everything was published. I visited this page earlier and installed divx, xvid, recode raw and ensharpen codecs. Also I have Perian and Flip4mac installed codecs. So my main question is: why can't I play movies from gallery using safari if in the same time I can view them well from iPhoto?
Playing of movies published with iMovie works well. But this does not matter to me since I want videos to be published in events with photos. If iPhoto has functionality to publish videos so it must work! Also I must mention that videos published with iPhoto can be played without problems from my PC with safari+quick time for windows. But under my Mac none of Safari, Firefox and Camino can view videos from my gallery. So I think problem is in QuickTime.

Anybody?????? Im using web premium CS5.5 it seems ludicrous that by default it lets every website play content on my computer but regards my own content as a security risk and wont let me rectify the problem!

The body of your post seems to be asking if you can take BluRay movies and play them on your iPad. No. Commercial DVDs are encrypted. In order to make a copy, you'd need to break that encryption. That's illegal in the U.S., so, we're not able to talk about it on this forum. Sorry.

AppleTV can't play movies from MobileMe, wrong format ?

The first time I accessed MobileMe Gallery on ATV it all worked fine, for photos and a medium sized movie. I decided to change the movie size to large, I took the medium off the gallery and shared the large movie from iMovie. I tried to view the movie on ATV, but got a message that it could not show the movie because it's the wrong format. So I changed it back to medium, but still got the no show message. How did the movie format change, I used iMovie every time.

My ipad suddenly stopped playing music through airplay. It was working fine then I noticed the airplay icon had disappeared.I rebooted my ipad several times, made sure my apple tv was up to date and nothing. Movies and videos play fine, music not at all.

Can't play movies from iphoto in snow leopard.

When I double click on a movie in iphoto nothing happens. But when I drag it onto quicktime it will play. Any suggestions? I'm using itunes 7.1.5 if that helps.

However, changing the default application to Quicktime Player 7 does not let iPhoto open it in that application. It still opens in the new Quicktime Player app.
I found a "bug" in the new QT Player. If your have a movie at 320 x 240 QT Player opens it at 478 x 359 which is the minimum window it can be set to. That makes the playback of files less than that size pixelated/fuzzy.

Quite simply, I'm having a bit of bother playing/streaming films without downloading. Is this a problem with my (seemingly fully-functional) wifi, or something with iTunes itself?

What speed does your ISP state that it provides for you. Mine claims 6 Mbps, but with the normal so-called 'overhead' which includes packets of data being routed & rerouted all over the place, I usually get a reading of 5 Mbps at best according to this website > http://www.ip-adress.com/speedtest/
I also run Little Snitch Network Monitor which reveals that iTunes servers (which rely heavily on Akamai's servers) usually top out (for me at least) at about a paltry ~618 kB/s.
So that is why I always download everything in full from iTunes before playing as I just don't want to be bothered w/any annoying content buffering; especially as it's content that I pay for.

ITunes 8 download - now can't play music from library

I recently had to reinstall my operating system. Moved all my music to back up drive. Downloaded iTunes8 and directed it to see music on back up drive. When I open iTunes, I see the all my songs but....when I select to play a song I get the following error message:
"This computer is not authorized to play "song name". Would you like to authorize it? I then enter my apple ID and password and hit authorize. When I hit the play button again, I receive the following message:
"This machine is already authorized. I hit okay and the whole process starts over again if I try to play the song. HELP!

I have the same problem, where iTunes seems to work OK, but the server where they maintain their help files is not available. It looks to me like Apple keeps all their help information on a server named help.apple.com, and the people that maintain that server have not gotten around to creating the appropriate help folders for iTunes 10.5. If you go to http://help.apple.com/itunes/win/10.4, you find the help for 10.4. Maybe it's the same as for 10.5, and maybe not.

TS3623 When I play movies from Netflix via AppleTV, the picture is very bad quality (looks like the first color movies from 1960).

When I play movies from Netflix via Apple TV, the picture quality is like a color movie from 1960. When I play Netflix on the computer or Iphone, I have no quality problem. Also, the movie plays for 4 minutes, then freezes and download for another 5 minutes before continuing. The signal strenght on Apple TV show 3 boxes out of five. I have the Apple TV set up about 30 feet from my Airport, separated with drywall walls and on hardwood floor. I tried to find the answer of my problem on the Apple troubleshooting site without success. Finally, I am trying to download an updated software for my Apple TV and Apple TV tells me there 4 hours left to the download; is that normal?

I did the SPEEDTEST, and my download is 25Mbs. My connection should not be the problem. I use Shaw cable with HIGH SPEED INTERNET. If I watch it on my computer or Iphone, the picture quality is excellent. The problem is the communication between my Airport and my Apple TV. At the store, the guaranteed me there would be no problem anywhere in the house. As I mentionned earlier, the signal has to travel between walls and floor. I get only 3 boxes out of five for signal strenght. I moved my AppleTV 3 feet from my Airport and I donèt have anymore problems; image quality or download speed. But of course, I do not want my AppleTV beside my computer. The reason I bought it is to be able to watch Netflix and my computer content on my TV in the family room. That was the whole purpose, but the AppleTV does not work well at that distance. I may as well bring it back to the store and continue to rent BD dvds.
