Can't play music in my car after update?

Updated my iPhone today to latest version, and now my JVC in dash reciever won't recognize the device through it's usb port. Any suggestions?

This should fix it.
Shut the car off.
Shut the phone off.
Plug in the usb cord to the phone.
Start the car.
The phone should turn on.
Everything should work now.

So you have business contacts that were lost... do you not have these on a Database in some shape or form? Sounds like you need to invest in a RAID1 backup setup for your computer so you dont have this issue in the future.
As for repairing your problem, sounds like you are going to need to start from scratch at this point or if the data is still on your phone look into a program that can take the information from the phone onto iTunes.

  • Can't play music in Sonata 2011 after ios6

I have an iPhone 4 (not 4s) and after upgrading to ios6, I can't play music in my Hyundai Sonata. As always, I connect my phone to the Sonata using the manufacturers supplied cable. The car will begin to read it, but will eventually just stop reading and revert to whatever media was playing before or to the radio. The iPhone is left in an odd state where the Music app will just cycle through my albums until I shut the unit down and restart it. I tried using an Apple iPhone USB cable, but that generates a "Connection Error" right away. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a solution?
    Thanks

Sorry to take so long to reply, but I figured out the problem. Apparently, if you select a song to play on the iPhone, and the song is not available, the Music app will cycle through your music, until it finds a song that is actually on the iPhone. I believe this is a change with iOS6. Its my wife's car and I don't drive it that often, so there was a lag between installing iOS6, clearing space on the device and actually trying to use it in the car. Now to be clear, not all of my music was missing, just most of them and while troubleshooting the problem I actually played a couple of songs on the device to make sure nothing was wrong with the iPhone. As luck would have it, I selected two of the songs that were still on the device, so I neglected to consider my space clearing. I google'd my question and after much filtering, found the answer.
Apple should fix this such that at least one of two things happen in this situation:
    1) The iPhone tells you that the song is not on the device.
    2) The iPhone does not list songs, playlists, artists, etc. that are not actually there.
Although both of these fall into the 'duh' category, the second one makes the most sense as I would have seen right away that my music was gone.
Anyway, thanks for the reply. It made me look deeper.

  • Playing music on my iPhone after updating to iOS 5.0.1

After updating my iPhone 4 to iOS v 5.0.1 non of the songs I have purchased through iTunes will play on the phone.  It is not possible to synch the songs to iTunes and the songs are only visible on the phone. When playing songs  the songs on the phone are seemingly playing but no sound comes out. Can anyone help me?

So... Have you tried a Transfer Purchases to get the songs too your computer? Then if they play there, you can delete them off the iPhone, and then sync them back on from iTunes.

  • Can't play music or see artwork after iTunes redirect

I've just finished moving my iTunes folder from one external drive to another.  I then deleted the library on the first drive, but I was not able to delete the Library.itl, Extras.itdb or Genius.itdb.  I recovered them from the trash and saved them.  I was running iTunes (now redirected) during the deletion.  After the deletion, iTunes was still running fine until I closed and reopened it.  The media, playlists and play counts are properly listed but the media wasn't located when clicked and there was no artwork.  The files are all on the new drive, along with the artwork.  I've succeeded in redirecting it such that SOME media now plays and SOME artwork shows, but not most.  Oddly, for the albums that don't show artwork on the main icon, they do show it in the "now playing" bar at the top of the screen.
How can I redirect to all the media files and artwork properly?  Nothing essential was deleted I know of.  (Or presumably connecting to the media would accomplish both?)  If it matters, within the iTunes folder I have iTunes Media folder, Album Artwork folder, Previous iTunes Libraries folder, Extras.itdb, Genius.itdb and Library.xml.  Inside the iTunes Media folder, there's the Library itl. file.  I also was prompted to reorganize the folder to maintain the "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" so I did that.
UPDATE:  I think I may have worked out why certain media wasn't playing, but the artwork problem remains and is unrelated.  Songs will play, the art will show in the folder as part of the metadata, will show in the top iTunes bar, but not on the main icon in the library.  Any ideas about this?
Thanks for any help.  Have done this before without any problems.

Where are my iTunes files located? - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
What do you have on the drive?  The whole iTunes folder with all its subfolders and collection of library files, or just media?  All your business about "redirecting" is a method for moving only media and not all the other library files which is what gives it the structure you see in the iTunes application.  We need to know where exactly you are right now.  I have provided those instruction hundreds if not thousands of times to people and the only time they do not work is when somebody has something non-standard with their library or confuses moving media with their "library".  Just as a city library is more than a pile of books in an empty lot, an iTunes library is more than just media files.

  • I can't play music bought in iTunes after iPod turn off

    I need help!!!!
After I installed iTunes 7.0.1 I cannot play songs I bought, after the iPod turns off (not used for a two or three days).
I have to re-sync in order to play the songs on the iPod again.
    Any clues?

  • I can't sync music or manually add after updating to iOs 8.0.2

I tried to add new songs to my iPod 5th gen earlier and it gets stuck on "Preparing to Update" or some other step. I did a restore and it did add some songs but only half of my iTunes. It shows up on my iPod but with an icon next to it (square with circle around) but actually song is not there. Have done a restore multiple times over but nothing. Not sure if this is part of the iOS upgrade issues. Apple really needs to get it together as I didn't pay to have an iPod I can't even use!

What do y mean by not working? I just clicked on all four lings and they opened/displayed the previous discussion in this forum.
    Or you can just try:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • I can't find music I previously purchased after updating my ipod touch

I transferred my ipod touch contents to Itunes, then I updated to 5.0, after which I can no longer find all of the songs that I had purchased.  Is there a way to reaccess them?  When I try to download them off of Itunes Store, it recognizes that I have already purchased the songs, and I also have receipts for them.  Any advice would be appreciated!!  Thanks!!

Have you went to Settings>Store and sign out and sign back in?

After ios 8 update I can no longer play music through my car. I have a 2012 Nissan Rogue - which has its own cable made to use with iPhone 4 - I use a apple adapter to converst to use with 5. Has been working fine up until update. Is there a fix for this? The car does not have usb

Here I come to save the daaaaaaaaaay!!!
Had the same issue with my Nissan Rogue 2011.
This listed below will fix it...
Go to General > Restrictions > CarPlay -- Make sure Carplay is DISABLED. (The new IOS 8 enables this on default)
Go to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
The Nissan Rogue radio system was never designed to work with CarPlay. By default, CarPlay feature comes enabled when you install IOS 8. Suckz, right?
You're very welcome! Have a great day!
    Sincerely,
    The Superhero

  • Whenever connect my ipod to my car to play music it becomes unresponsive after a few minutes and takes 10 mins to restart after ipod is reset how do i fix this?

ipod shutting down when i play music in the car via car connector

You can try the standard fixes:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
However, the problem may be that the car system is not compatible with your iPod and its iOS.  You might want to use the communities search box in the upper right and search for your car's make for similar problems.

  • "Accessory Connected" - can't play music in car

I have two phones - an iPhone 3GS (iOS 4.3.3)  and a anew iPhone 4S (iOS 5 obviously)
With both phones, when I connect the phone to my car's audio (Renault Mégane II with a dealer fitted Renault TunePoint audio connection box) and open up the iPod / Music app, my phone shows the "Accessory Connected" screen. I cannot control the music either from my car OR by the phone.
HOWEVER, I did jailbreak my out of warranty 3GS and installed the "No Accessory Splash" option, and as soon as I did this, I was able to control the music from my phone. I ran the jailbreak purely to try this out, and it worked - so I'm guessing that Apple have locked something down which is messing things up.
I've since performed a factory restore of my 3GS by putting it into DFU mode and re-loading the stock firmware.
I have no intention of attempting a jailbreak on my 4S.
Is there ANY way around this?

Actually there is no way around this, except when jailbreaking. We mist hope that Apple deletes this feature soon..
But I have one thing that is different from my issue, I can't control music from my iPhone 4S but I can control the music from my car!
My car is the Renault Scenic (2005) with a Parrot MKi9000

  • Can't play music with iPhone 4

    iTunes 10.5, iMac 10.7.2, iPhone 4 software 5.0
After the updates, I can't listen music via iPhone. After clicking the play button, no sound comes out and progress bar for music does not move, but the play button stays 'on". I can listen music through my iPhone from iTune store, I can listen audio books. I thought that it could be due to some error during sync, but after re sync ing whole music library, nothing has changed. I also have iPad, but that works well with new update.
    Anybody has any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem with the 3GS. Podcasts work fine. Books, fine.
Music I downloaded from itunes, I haven't checked it all, but a spot check looks like that music works.
Music imported from CD? Doesn't seem to work. Similar experience as above of it appearing to play, but the status bar doesn't move and there's no sound.
Or, it says it's playing a song, but it's really playing another song that I downloaded from itunes at some point by a totally different artist...
move info to icloud? HA. Not a chance.
Anyone have suggestions as to how to fix the music problem?

  • Play music in my car with a USB connection

My car has a USB connection for audio input.  When I connect the car with the USB cable that came with my 8530 to my phone, the radio does not detect that I have connected it.
My question is, can I play music through the USB port on my CURVE 8530 and how do I enable this feature if I do have it.
PS. This is my first smart phone, and I love my CURVE to death.

I'm pretty sure you can't do this. The only way for this to work is if your car has an AUX wire input. Most newer cars do have this.
