Can't post a new topic

I have been trying to post a new topic without success. First, under the discussions there is no such topic I want to place mine under. I then proceed to do a search under "clock" under which I can find a button to place my new topic.
Basically I want to place a topic about if someone know any software/hardware on "Biometric punch clock" for the Mac.

Hi Angel!
Here is some additional info.
If you have a question, or suggestion, about using Discussions, from this page Feedback about Discussions, click on Post New Topic.
If you have a Technical question about Apple Hardware, Programs, Services, Technology, Software, Applications, Products, etc, from this page Discussions - Forum Home, select an appropriate Category from one of the sixteen divisions.
For example, under Mac OS X Related Software, choose the Category Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger.
On the page that opens, select a Forum, such as Installation & Setup, or Using Mac OS X Tiger.
Most Category pages, have numerous Forums within them.
But some may have only one, two, or three.
For example the Safari Category page has four choices listed under Forum / Category, but only two of them, are Forums:
Safari For Windows
Safari for Mac Support forum.
And the Apple Remote Desktop Category, has only one Apple Remote Desktop Forum.
On Forum pages, there is an option to Post New Topic.
More info here How Is Discussions Content Organized.
It can be confusing, but explore the different areas, and you will acquire a better understanding of the hierarchy.

  • Why can't I post a new topic in the Leopard discussions.

The option is available in other Apple discussions, but for some reason it's not an option for me in the Leopard area.
I just want to ask a simple question about why Firefox is now launching every time I restart my computer, but don't want to do so in a discussion about Final Cut or iLife or any of the other forums where posting a new topic is an option because that would be bad etiquette. At the same time, I'm not given much of an option.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • When posting, please post a new topic if you don't have an answer!

Occasionally you may be tempted to add your voice to a chorus of complaints. Unfortunately, if what you are here for is to get assistance for a problem which you can't find an answer for, trailing an existing thread with a second complaint, is usually considered bad form. It has been given the nickname of "threadjacking." Instead, when you don't have an answer, and are seeking an answer, start a new topic by clicking on the Discussions header links of the board below the big bold text "Apple Discussions" to locate the board most appropriate for your question. Once you have found the board appropriate for your question, above the posts on the upper left should be a "Post a New Topic" link. Use that link to create your own topic. If that link is not there, you have probably already entered another thread, and if that is the case, use the link Batch to Topic List link to return to where you can Post a New Topic.
Here are the advantages to not threadjacking:
    1. You will get a much wider audience of possible experts to help you out.
    2. The original poster of the thread will not get advice that does not pertain to their situation, and you won't get advice that doesn't pertain to your situation. You wouldn't want either you or the other person to get the wrong advice and try something which could make them get more in a hole.
    3. The experienced users with this situation won't get confused who they are offering advice to and give the wrong advice to the wrong person.
    Thank you!

  • Kad: What is a forum, board, and category and how to post a new topic?

Disclaimer: Apple does not necessarily endorse any suggestions, solutions, or third-party software products that may be mentioned in the topic below. Apple encourages you to first seek a solution at Apple Support. The following links are provided as is, with no guarantee of the effectiveness or reliability of the information. Apple does not guarantee that these links will be maintained or functional at any given time. Use the information below at your own discretion.
In the Discussions Feedback board you'll see this quote:
If your question concerns a hardware or software technical issue, please do not post in this forum — instead, go to the Apple Discussions Homepage, select an appropriate product category and follow the links until you reach the correct forum for your post, then click the Post New Topic link.
It appears that many still miss this advice as they go ahead and ask in the Discussions feedback page how to post a new topic. This advice is as clear as can be, though some may not understand what the terms are in this quote. To clarify Apple Discussions is organized into the following elements:
    Apple Discussions Homepage
    - Categories of Topics
    - - Individual _Topic Forums_
    - - - Individual _Topic Threads_
When you enter a Category you will see _Topic Threads_ but no Post New Topic link. The reason for this is that all the threads in each forum are combined beneath the individual Forum links. If you wish to post a new topic in any specific Forum, you have to navigate to the Forum first to post a new topic in that Forum. Don't let the preponderance of views or responders make you think you need to post a "me too". In fact this makes it harder on the original poster to determine what is the cause of their problem. It is better to post your own topic, so you can get more focussed attention, and a wider audience who can help you. If you have a reply that might lead to a solution for the original poster, by all means reply. Otherwise you just contribute to the length of the thread, and don't really help in finding a solution.
An example of a Category: iMac
An example of a Forum: Using your iMac G5
Note also the header of the board says: "Category" or "Forum" to help guide you.
Be sure also to identify your Mac or operating system before posting in specific forums, as some Macs may look similar. If you need help, ask first.

  • Depreciation run problem."You can only post in new year after closing the"

    Hi,
We are implementing Asset accounting to one of our co code.New Assets were created in Jan and when I tried to Post depreciation for Jan, I get an error log that says "You can only post in new year after closing the previous year."
When i double click on error message.
    Diagnosis
You want to post in a new fiscal year. However, a posting must have been made in the last period in the previous fiscal year before you can do this.
    Procedure
Post to the last period in the previous year first.
So I went ahead and opened the previous year, posted the depreciation, closed the year and tried to post Period 1 again, but still get the same error.
Why do I need to post the previous period if I just created the assets in this period?
I Have completed AJRW, AJAB also.
I think it may be a problem with Table. Please suggest me.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Please check the following :-
    1. Check the Last Closed year in your Asset Accounting.
    2. Check the Last Depreciation Posted in Your Asset Accounting.
These 2 menus are available in "Data Transfer in Fixed Asset Accounting".
revert back to me for further actions,
    regards

  • Asset You can only post in new  year after closing the previous year

    Hi Experts,
I am getting below error while running the depriciation:
You can only post in new  year after closing the previous year.
    Message no. AA687
    Diagnosis
You want to post in a new fiscal year. However, a posting must have been made in the last period in the previous fiscal year before you can do this.
    Procedure
Post to the last period in the previous year first.
Note : I closed FY09, even though there were no assets in it at the time.  The first  asset was capitalized on 12/29/09 (clearly in FY10).  I tried closing FY09 again and got the messege  No year-end close is necessary for company code XXXX .
Could you please any one help me on this.
    Thanks In Adwance
    Regards,
    Saritha.

    Hi Saritha,
    Please check the following settings:
o Is there one ore more years since the last depr. run?
Solution: in this case an entry must be made into the table TABA.
                      Note 144441  gives a solution to make a "Dummy-entry".
o If there was never a depreciation run, the there must be 000/0000 in
      TABA and T093D.
Solution: please take the report from the note  Note 144441
and put the values  000/0000 in this fields.
o Do you  have a non-calendar fiscal year (e.g. 2009/10)? In this case
you should have in the field T093D-AFBLG the year 2010.
        Solution: Correction with note 26073
    regards Bernhard

  • You can only post in new year after closing the previous year.

    Hi,
I got error "You can only post in new year after closing the previous year." when I tried to run depreciation for first time for a company.
In OAAR, it was noted that FY2008 already closed.
    Please advice.

I understand you did the asset upload in 2008 and want to run the first depreciation run for 2009?
In that case have a look in your take over data settings: SPRO:
Financial Accounting / Asset Accounting / Asset Data Transfer / Parameters for Data Transfer /  Date Specifications / Specify Transfer Date/Last Closed Fiscal Year
This should be 31-12-2008 (if the calendar year is the same as the fiscal year)

  • Why can't I post a new topic in the Safari discussion board?

When I go to the Safari discussion board, there is no Post New Topic button.
    Why?

    Hi Scot!
You are probably on the Safari Category page.
From there, you need to click the Safari Forum page.
On Forums there is an option to Post New Topic.
    EDIT: Yep!

  • How can I see only new topics from selected spaces on one page?

Just wondering how can I do the subj.
For instance, Im interested only in Database space, and only in several sub-spaces like high availability, upgrade, general.
So, I would like to see new topics only from these areas on single page. how can I do this?
Currently, in order to check for new questions, I need every time to go to every space, then select sub-space, go back,  select another subspace. This is very inconvenient, slow and takes server resources as well.
    Regards
    Ed

You have to select Track in Communications under Actions in the Overview view of the appropriate forum space you are interested in. You should then receive notifications under Communications and can filter by "unread". If you don't want email notifications, you need to set it OFF in your user preferences. • After compiling, I can't see the (new) topic...

I am using RH 8 HTML, I use WebHelp as my primary layout on Windows XP.
I created a new topic, saved it, compiled it, but then I can't see it on the topics list on the left once I've generated my project.  What's going on?  Can someone please help me?
    Thank you.

You haven't broken any protocol. My point was that this thread is about a topic not appearing and that has been resolved.
I could not see a link between that and your question and I still cannot. You seem to have been having a problem with the time taken to publish, nothing to do with a specific topic not getting published.

  • Is it better to post a new topic if a problem recurs?

I just changed a topic from answered to not answered in the Safari forums because it recurred again. Should I have started a new topic? It has to do with Safari not connecting to the internet. Yesterday I fixed it so when it happened again, I tried the same solution, but it didn't work. So I changed the topic to not answered. then thought, maybe it was better to start a new one? Figured this was the forum to ask that question before starting over?
    thank you.
    Laverne's Mom

    You're welcome!
I am starting to take serious notes as to what I am doing on Safari so that I can pinpoint (hopefully) when it happens. I do know that accurate information about when and what will help all of you help me figure out how to permanently fix it
That's the best thing you can do. You'd be surprised how few do and then try to come to the AD to seek help but don't remember key things that could correct the problem more quickly if at all.
I'm sure ~Bee will pop in over there to add help if she can.
    good luck,

  • Not able to post a new topic to Discussions Safari Safari for Mac

Hi, I'm new to Apple Discussions, but not new to posting to forums.
Currently I'm not able to post to Discussions>Safari>Safari for Mac. I can login, view all post threads, create and save a draft, preview the draft, but cannot post the draft to Discussions>Safari>Safari for Mac.
However I am able to post to a different category; Discussions>Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger>Using Mac OS X Tiger. See posting "This is a test. Please do not reply to this post".
    When I try to post to Discussions>Safari>Safari for Mac I get pushed to another web link and system message as follows;
    http://discussions.info.apple.com/backsoon/discussionstempaway.html
We're sorry, Apple Discussions is temporarily unavailable. We'll be back soon.
    Until then, please visit http://www.apple.com/support
    Currently when I open the category Discussions>Safari>Safari for Mac, I see an error message that reads;
    Error
An error in the system has occured. Please contact the system administrator if the problem persists.
I have searched for a link to "contact the system administrator", but cannot find it.
I get around the Safari for Mac category error message by clicking on 'next' and it then displays the current threads.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a bonus issue I'd like to resolve asap, to get to my original issue with Safari 4.1 crashing.
Thanks to those who can help!

    You're Welcome cuzindave!
That's odd. It was OK before but when I checked again it was down and now it's back.
