Can't post reply to my question

I have tried all morning and in 2 different browsers to reply to an answer to my question. Despite repeatedly logging in, I am being logged out every time I hit reply.
Extremely frustrating

I was unable to reply to Hemanth's follow up.,I had to send my reply to him as a private message. It appeared as if the forum was logging me out every time I hit the Add Reply button. The error dialog suggested I might not be logged in.

  • Why can't I reply to my Question????

I have tried to reply to a question I asked several days ago and can't??: The question was "Should I renew my contract for 2 more years"  I not sure which is more frustrating my service or this forum??  Guess I'm headed to US Cellular.

You mean Should I renew my service for 2 more years? discussion? How were you able to create this new post? Some browser versions have issues with the community. IE10 is one them that does. Try a different browser or device. You can also setup your profile to receive email notifications of posts and allow you to reply from your inbox.

  • This is actually in response to varjak paw's reply to my question, but I am unable to directly reply for some reason hence the separate post, but so it's open to anyone to answer

This is actually in response to varjak paw's reply to my question (thank you!), but I am unable to directly reply for some reason hence the separate post, but so it's open to anyone to answer. Anyway, my original question was
Hello, I am from a Korean institution. We are looking into enrolling in iTunes U, but are aware that our country, South Korea, is yet enrolled in the iTunes U. Can our institution still enroll and if so, what is the procedure? Or do we have to wait for our country to be enrolled in iTunes U first? We're surprised South Korea isn't listed yet among the 26 countries so far, considering how it's one of the more developed countries and also highly advanced in the technology field. Thank you!
    Varjak paw's answer:
Sorry, but iTunes U is not available to institutions in South Korea at this time. It is only available to institutions in those countries on the list. Why Apple has not yet been able to provide that service in your country or when (or indeed if) they ever will is something none of us here can say.
    Regards.
    My follow-up question:
So then, is if there's a general standard procedure country governments have to follow in order to have the iTunes U service provided (ex. a site/online application on Apple). So in other words, if the Korean government were interested in enrolling in iTunes U, what would they have to do/what channel(s) would they have to go through? We are a government-affiliated institution so if we're provided the necessary steps, we may be able to forward the procedure along to the right government body that would be responsible for setting this up.
Any information would be appreciated, thank you!

As I said in your original post, iTunes U is not available to any institution, government or otherwise, in South Korea. If or when Apple will extend iTunes U to your country is something none of us here can say, and Apple will not until such time as they're ready to make an announcement. What Apple's criteria and requirements are for being able to open iTunes U in a given country is unknown; there is no "procedure" that any of us here can state or direct you to that you could initiate. It's totally up to Apple, and if they are working on this, I'm sure they know who in the SK government they would need to work with.
Sorry, but you will just have to wait and hope that something develops in the future.
    Regards.

  • Lost my contacts in ios8 update and now I can't post my question here

I posted my question here and it got deleted and they told me to go post it on the Developer forum cause it contains info about the new version of OSX coming out next month, but I'm not a developer and the developer forum sends me here if it's a question about using a product. And I have a question about using my iPhone 5s. Please don't delete this question again.
I updated my iphone 5s (64 gig) and ipad 2 (16 gig) to ios 8 last week and I stupidly said yes to iCloud Drive before I read all the warning signs not to. My photos are still there cause I didn't have them in icloud, but my contacts are gone on my phone. I updated my Mac Mini to (the new version of OSX after Mavericks and I'm hoping if I don't say the name of it this post won't get deleted) and I still see all my contacts on my computer, I'm just not sure how to get them back on my phone. Should I restore my phone in itunes to a previous backup from last month? Figured I'd check here before I went with that.
Please don't delete this post cause I can't post it in the developer forum. This is a question for the support forum. I am an end user.

An error message came up on the computer and said it couldn't complete the installation.
When I plug the ipod into the computer nothing happens.  It sill shows the apple icon on the touch and a bar.  It doesn't show in itunes at all.

  • Can I post my same question again?

I have posted an apple related technical question in the forums and it's already been a week and I have not had any replies. Although it's encouraged for members to look in old threads too, but members very rarely seem to do that. So would it violate the rules of this forum if I posted it again so it would be listed on the first page again? If it does, is there any way I can delete my unanswered question and replace it with a new one? If so, would that also be allowed? If not, can I bundle hyperlinks to my question along with answers I make to other peoples questions? I just want to make sure I don't violate any forum rules. Thanks.

As ali said, you've only had 3 posts in the past week (actually within the last two days); just in case you didn't know, there are only users just like you volunteering their time trying to help on these forums; you are not addressing your questions to anyone from Apple. So, either someone has not had time to read your question or does not have an answer for your problem. If you want immediate help and are still covered by warranty, you can call Apple, or, if you're no longer under warranty, make an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar for free advice/help.

  • Can't mark reply "This solved my question"

In the email I received that notified me of a reply to my question, when I click on the link for either "This solved my question" or "This helped me", it takes me to Safari, but gives me the following:
    Apple Support Communities
    Unauthorized
It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake.
If I sign in to the Discussions, and go to Your Stuff and choose the question, I see the Legend, but there are no buttons for me to mark a reply as "This solved my question" or "This helped me".
Any idea why I can't do this?  I'm running Mac OS 10.8.5, and Safari 6.0.5.  Could there be something in my Safari settings that is blocking this?
    Thanks,

There have also been intermittent problems with the forum software lately and this might be causing this problem.

  • Can't post a question

I get a red banner, saying I can't update or create content when I try to post this question:
Using H&R Block Deluxe software on my MacBook Pro has been a nightmare this year. I've used Block software for years with no problems, but this year has been a bear. This is the first year, of course, that I've had Yosemite as my operating system. I initially couldn't save/open my return using a CD I got from Office Depot. I got an error message: "string ID insertion failed." Block Customer Support indicated the program ws corrupted. In talking with the Block rep, I picked up on her total unfamiliarity with Yosemite. She was only aware of the "cat" operating systems. I uninstalled Block and installed a download provided by Customer Support. I was able to complete both federal and state returns and successfully transmitted them. I got the message in my e-mail that both returns were accepted. My problem now is that when I go into the program and try to check the status, I get the same error message about an insertion error. I had saved my data in three different locations, including a flash drive, just before I filed, but I get the same error message when I try to open them. So, I have no acces to my 2014 digital return. Block Customer Support is telling me my returns can't be retrieved. This is the first time I've been in a situation where I have 3 back-ups of a file, but am being told the data is hopelessly lost.

Always keep your previous systems - you can make a bootable backup, called a clone of your system and data.

Always assume that software may take a full product cycle or 6-12 months even to be compatible and tested/certified.
This is not a MacBook Pro forum, maybe even Yosemite would be more to the point.

I would guess you mean you can't post on H&R?

My brother and I run some financial software on (gasp) Windows using Parallels or VMware or VirtualBox https://www.virtualbox.org/  which  have support and can use Windows 7 or later. If  you could virtualize your last OS such as Snow Leopard or Mavericks, would be convenient instead of dual booting.

  • I got an answer and I replied with a question about the answer, does no show in unanswered

I got an answer and I replied with a question about the answer, does no show in unanswered questions. I guess replying was not the way to get another anwer, How do I do that?
He said - Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox.
I want to know - Will I still have my bookmarks, history, addons, plugins, etc.? I do not know what plugins and such that I had. What about my pinned tabs and my tabs that where open.
More information - When I try to start Firefox I keep getting the message that I need to restart my computer in order to complete a previous update attempt. I had Sweetpacks on my PC and I do not know where it came from, it took over my home page in Internet Explorer and Ithink caused the issue with Firefox.
Should I do the clean install or try starting Firefox now.

You won't lose bookmarks and other data in the Firefox profile folder as long as you do not remove personal data in case you uninstall Firefox.

  • Please Indicate "Mark as Answer" if a Post has Answered the Question

While reading a reply to your question, you will notice a button with an icon that says "Mark as Answer."   Please select this button when a reply answers your question.
There are several reasons to do this:
Our search engine weights Answered questions more highly. By marking Answers you increase the chances that others searching this forum will find the answer directly rather than re-posting the question.
You give credit to the hard working folks who answer your questions. This is peer to peer support, so recognition is our only reward. (Check out the Top Answerers in 30 Days chart at the bottom of the thread list to see who is currently answering questions.)
You help Microsoft to track the health of this forum. Our forum gets 'measured' based on how many unanswered questions are in it at any time and we work hard to keep those numbers to as low a level as possible. By marking answers, others get a more accurate understanding of how well (or badly) things are going on the forum.
You can also vote "Yes" or "No" if the reply was helpful.
    Thank you!

I just asked a question and got a good answer, resulting in me asking another question. However someone other than me, I have no idea who, marked the original answer.
This seems baffling to me, surely its the person who posts the question who should decide when they have an answer that they understand and can use?
Plus even if the answer was perfect the idea that someone can take over control like that is surprising and is something I've only ever seen happen in Microsoft forums.

  • Re: How can I post an image?

Merging the hints, how does this look?
Showing an image in Apple Discussions requires two things.
    1. The image has to exist and be accessible from a working server somewhere.
    2. Then the image can be referenced in html and will appear in your post.
    1. To achieve the first you need to register on one of the many free web photo hosting sites. An example of one would be Flicker. (If you have your own web site you can of course host your picture there.)
Having taken a snapshot of the thing in question (the image), perhaps by using the Grab application on your Mac, you upload the image to your photo hosting site.
You'll then need to get its URL from the site. It might be easy to see or you might have to read the site's FAQ for those details, as there are differences between sites.
Easier still, if you are using Safari or Firefox right clicking (or Control click with a one button mouse) on the uploaded image will copy the link for you.
It will have a form like this:
    http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2186/24541163585b68ff68b8s.jpg
When you find it, open a new tab in your browser and paste it into it, to check that it displays and is therefore the correct URL for the image.
    2. To add this image to your post here on Apple Discussions, place an exclamation point before and after the link, illustrated as,
    !http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2186/24541163585b68ff68b8s.jpg&#033;
which produces the image in the post.
    An alternate html format is;
    <img src="http://source.address.of.image.jpg"/>

  • Can't post to online classrooms

WiFi and 3G are connecting just fine for web but I am unable to post to discussion boards in my online classroom. At first I was able to post using wifi but after chatting with Aplle support I can't post using wifi either. I bought the ipad to replace the heavy laptop on the go. Now.....

Man, I'm sorry I'm just now reading this. If HPcrimson see's this try this way to post from your iPad. When you select reply, a new screen will come up. Then select (if you have this) the icon on the reply toolbar for "paste as plain text". Then you should see a small reply text box come up. Type your message in there and then select post. If you have a spell checker enabled, there will be a bit of a pause. After a bit your message will be posted. Recheck your thread and you should see it. Hope you see this message and good luck your in studies.
