Can't post to Safari discussion

I don't get an option to post to the Safari category, at least when using Safari. I do, obviously, get that option in other categories (uh, this one for instance). Am I missing something?
Carl

Hi Carl!
The Safari Forums, are not the only ones that are set up that way.
Here is some additional info on the organization of Discussions.
If you have a Technical question about Apple Hardware, Programs, Services, Technology, Software, Applications, Products, etc, from this page Discussions - Forum Home, select an appropriate Category from one of the thirteen divisions.
For example, under Mac OS X Related Software, choose the Category Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger.
On the page that opens, select a Forum, such as Installation & Setup, or Using Mac OS X Tiger.
Most Category pages, have numerous Forums within them.
But some may have only one, two, or three.
For example, as Rachel R posted, the Safari Category page has five choices listed under Forum / Category, but only three of them, are Forums:
Safari 3 Public Beta for Windows
Safari 3 Public Beta for Mac
Safari for Mac Support forum.
And the Apple Remote Desktop Category, has only one Apple Remote Desktop Forum.
On Forum pages, there is an option to Post New Topic.
Click here for all iPod Forums.
Click here for all iTunes Forums.
More info here How Is Discussions Content Organized.
It can be confusing, but explore the different areas, and you will acquire a better understanding of the hierarchy.

  • I can't post to iphone discussion?

I wrote a really detailed description of my problem but can't post (do not enter symbol and greyed-out Post button). Why?

That's the post. On my end, all indications were that my posts could not be submitted. This hasn't been a good experience for me, either with the backups or the discussion forum.
Thanks stedman1; I need to take a break from all this and enjoy some fresh air without the smell of Apple in my flaring nostrils!

  • Can't post a new discussion? Oh Yes I can...

Trying to post a question about an issue I am having and I get a message stating that I am not allowed to edit or post...
So I am trying this post here...
Need help deciding if the invalid Launch Agents/Daemon could be causing an issue with my MBP.
These are listed below but I do not see them in my Library/Launch Agents folder nor do I even see a Launch Daemon Folder in Librarys?
My biggest issue I am having is that my Mail seems to suck my memory so much that the app is paused and I am forced to quit apps.
This only started after updating to Yosemite.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can't belive how fast the hosts are. By the time my above reply was posted you were already in the MacBook Pro Forum. Hopefully you'll get the solution to your problem now.

  • Why can't I post a new topic in the Safari discussion board?

When I go to the Safari discussion board, there is no Post New Topic button.
    Why?

    Hi Scot!
You are probably on the Safari Category page.
From there, you need to click the Safari Forum page.
On Forums there is an option to Post New Topic.
    EDIT: Yep!

  • I can't get into the safari discussion board.

    and firefox and opera are soooo lame. So, I'm going to post here;
I know I'm in the wrong board, but Firefox and Opera won't open the Safari discussion page. so here's trying here:
Hi, I use Safari 4.0.1 (there's my problem right there, probably), and although it crashes all the time, now it won't even start up. Please help me because Firefox is sooo lousy, I keep getting "Apple Discussions no longer exist" pages (or something to that effect) every time I hit a button.
I do a lot of editing on Wikipedia, and I'm always flipping back and forth from a page to the Top Sites page. The Top Sites page always gets the rainbow ball of death for some reason (I have "Medium" amount of Top Sites).
I went into the Top Sites manager, un-pinned one page, and then suddenly both Safari and my Mac turned into Windows XP and took forever for anything to get done.
Force quitting, then re-opening only results in a blank page with a rainbow death ball, and deleting 1200+ "preview" images from the cache didn't help either. Neither did a reboot.
So I'm most likely going to install the latest version of Safari because it is faster than Firefox and less cumbersome.
But I'm hoping someone may be able to tell me what loop or trap Safari got stuck in because that seems to be what happened:

O.k. Thanks for the clarification. I poked around in my TimeCapsule router's settings (TimeCapsule is an Apple Airport Extreme router with attached hard drive for wireless backup/storage). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can disable multicasting with the TimeCapsule. I can change the multicasting 'rate'. Settings are Low, Medium, High. It's currently set to Low.
I did a few web searches, and found an Apple.com article: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3789?viewlocale=en_US> which explained how to disable Bonjour Service Advertisements. I believe this is the same thing as 'Multicasting'. The process is a modification of "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist", and a restart of the Mac is required afterwards.
I'm a bit concerned that disabling multicasting will interfere with my AppleTVs and iTunes music sharing, but I may try it next time I'm up for a computer workout. This task will require editing of system preference files, could require multiple restarts, might interfere with my AppleTVs, could interfere with my iTunes file sharing, doesn't have a documented relationship to my problem.
This is way to difficult for something that should just work. Did you say you had read something about a relationship between this bonjour multicasting and smb connectivity? If it was online could you post the link?
I'm currently able to connect to the drive using NFS, but I have to manually configure that connection each time I reboot (can't get the 'Disk Utility' configured to do it automatically). While it's working with NFS, it's not my preferred connect method (for various reasons).

  • Can't post on Aperture (or other Discussions)

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me. I just created a login profile, etc. a couple of days ago wanting to join the Aperture and Logic Discussions. I successfully did that.
When I'm in the Aperture and Logic Discussions, I notice that there is no "Post New Topic" button at the top of the page. As a result I can't post topics there. I've tried this on several machines with the same result.
For some reason in this Discussion, I can post (obviously).
Has anyone else run into this - no "Post New Topic" button in Dicussions? Is there something I need to do?
    Thanks!

    Hi b7AWb3!
You are probably on a Category page.
From the Aperture Category, select a Forum.
For example Aperture Installation, Setup, and General Usage.
On Forums, there is an option to Post New Topic.
    Good Luck!

  • Re: How can I post an image?

Merging the hints, how does this look?
Showing an image in Apple Discussions requires two things.
    1. The image has to exist and be accessible from a working server somewhere.
    2. Then the image can be referenced in html and will appear in your post.
    1. To achieve the first you need to register on one of the many free web photo hosting sites. An example of one would be Flicker. (If you have your own web site you can of course host your picture there.)
Having taken a snapshot of the thing in question (the image), perhaps by using the Grab application on your Mac, you upload the image to your photo hosting site.
You'll then need to get its URL from the site. It might be easy to see or you might have to read the site's FAQ for those details, as there are differences between sites.
Easier still, if you are using Safari or Firefox right clicking (or Control click with a one button mouse) on the uploaded image will copy the link for you.
It will have a form like this:
    http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2186/24541163585b68ff68b8s.jpg
When you find it, open a new tab in your browser and paste it into it, to check that it displays and is therefore the correct URL for the image.
    2. To add this image to your post here on Apple Discussions, place an exclamation point before and after the link, illustrated as,
    !http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2186/24541163585b68ff68b8s.jpg&#033;
which produces the image in the post.
    An alternate html format is;
    <img src="http://source.address.of.image.jpg"/>

  • Why I Can not Open a safari preferences,

Why I Can not Open a safari preferences,
I not even able to write a web address. My home page is aol I have to search to be able to open a web page
everything starts after I Update my computer to OX X Yosemite
    Can Someone help me

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take the action that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

I can not open my Safari. It quits unexpectedly. The issue only happens to a single user account. It does not happen to anyone else in my family. Please help!

☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Can't post to online classrooms

WiFi and 3G are connecting just fine for web but I am unable to post to discussion boards in my online classroom. At first I was able to post using wifi but after chatting with Aplle support I can't post using wifi either. I bought the ipad to replace the heavy laptop on the go. Now.....

Man, I'm sorry I'm just now reading this. If HPcrimson see's this try this way to post from your iPad. When you select reply, a new screen will come up. Then select (if you have this) the icon on the reply toolbar for "paste as plain text". Then you should see a small reply text box come up. Type your message in there and then select post. If you have a spell checker enabled, there will be a bit of a pause. After a bit your message will be posted. Recheck your thread and you should see it. Hope you see this message and good luck your in studies.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
This happens when you first navigate to a page that you may not access before you are logged in. For some reason Apple Discussions tells you you must log in. Then you log in, and then you are directed back to that 'you must log-in' page. Don't worry just carry on as normal - as you have done hear. I hope this is on the Moderators wish list as I have queried it before.

  • Can't post tweet on my iPad Mini!

Hi. When using the Twitter app, I can't post a tweet.
I get an error message saying
"Saved as draft. Error posting your message. There was an error sending your Tweet. It has been saved as a draft, please try resending later. (Error: forbidden)"
Here's a picture if you want to see that rather then the text: http://i.imgur.com/svvCzHg.jpg
This also happens when I tweet in the mobile site in Safari.
What's really weird is that I can tweet perfectly with my second and third account (I have 3 accounts), but with my main account, I can't tweet! That shows that it's something wrong with my main account, I guess...
    What should I do??
    I've tried this:
    * Rebooting (turning on and of) my iPad the normal way.
    * Rebooting (turning on and of) my iPad with holding down HOME + POWER for about 10 seconds.
    * Reinstalling Twitter.
    * Removing all my Twitter account from the Settings app and putting them back in.
    * Contacting Twitter support (no answer...yet)
    Please help me!

Based on your first post, you have already done pretty much all that can be done as far as troubleshooting, and there is pretty good indication the issue is on your account (on the Twitter side) not your device. Twitter support is going to need to address this.

  • I can't use my Safari app at all..

I hope someone can help! I posted on one of the other boards without success...
I can't use my Safari app at all. Every time I try to open it, the app I used (and closed) previously opens instead. It doesn't matter what app it is, it is just the previous app used. Settings: 4.2.6 (8E200). Model MC676LL. I've tried resetting the phone-no luck. Please help...Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean...?? Please help! Thanks~
