Though I can post replies or topics elsewhere, I can't post to User Tips Forum.

You need to be at least Level 2 to submit a suggested User Tip; this is done by going to the User Tips Contributions board, reading the instructions there, and then creating your tip. Tips require the approval of a host before they are added to the User Tips area, and only hosts can create threads directly in the User Tips folder.

Instead, if you wish to make a contribution, you should post to Apple.com > Support > Discussions > User Tips Library > User Tips Contributions . Only the Hosts can move approved tips to the "Apple.com > Support > Discussions > User Tips Library > User Tips Library forum.
It's unfortunate (or maybe it's designed that way) but the link from the main Discussions page takes you directly to the "approved" tips forum, bypassing the "User Tips" Category.
Why can I only post to Unix board?I'm sure you can post to the vast majority of the other forums listed on the main Discussions page.

Can't post on an online forum for the game 'Runescape'? Using Macbook Pro 13'

When I press the button to publish it, the page just freezes.
I use a Macbook Pro 13', and on Safari.
I also bought this last Friday.
If anyone has any suggestions, that would be appreciated.

Select "Never" when you want to visit this particular site.
After that revert back to "From third parties and advertisers".

Can't Post in the User Tips Library

Hello,
I just recently achieved Level 2 ranking status in the forums. For some weird reason, I can't post in the Tips Library. I click on 'Post New Topic', and it asks me to log in. I had already logged in, but I do it anyway. I type in my password, and click Log In. I am back in the Tips Library, and now logged in. When I click 'Post New Topic' again, it asks me to log in again, although I am already logged in! It is an endless circle.
I really want to contribute!

The approved posts are moved to the User Tips Library. In other words, you can't post there; the Hosts move your approved tip to that forum.
Read through the steps explained in the section titled "The Process" on both pages. It explains this in detail.

What's the logic behind the prefixes in User Tips?

I'm browsing through the User Tips, and maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I don't recall all those prefixes in the subject lines.
e.g. kmosx, kmos, k.mac, kad, kaw, etc.
Is there a logic behind it somewhere that would be useful for searching? e.g. put one in the search box and get all the User Tips on such-and-such topic?
If so, can someone please sticky-post a glossary in the User Tips forum?

User Tips General Procedure

Hey all,
I was thinking of drafting a user tip or two for the FCE forum and I thought I'd first ask here regarding the couple questions more experienced posters might have the answer to.
1. Is it even worth posting a User Tip seeing as the forum transformation is happening in the near future? Will these tips remain prominent in the new forum layout? (this one is mainly directed toward the Hosts.)
2. Would you recommend posting a separate tip for each narrow topic, or a large combined one such as "Basic Troubleshooting Procedure in Final Cut Express" that addresses more than one common problem?

I still use the Users Tips Contribution Forum (your post reminded me to check my last).
If you happen to know the knowledge base lettering to aid Searches I would include that in the leading info (Such as kichat or kisight)
I tend to write items that address a specific topic issue and address it to as many versions of iChat as possible. (As I specialise in iChat)

I know iFelix keeps these Pages
Pondini seems to have a Users Tip on Time Machine that is Title/links to external pages. Keeps the Users tip Short(er), groups the topic but keeps the detail somewhere else which can be easier to update.
I started with Users Tips then realised I had more info than I could get in the Tips (Old Forum Software) so started keeping a web site. (it now has a life of it's own )
Basically, as Eric says, it is do as you feel.
However if you plan to cover everything you can think of I would think of combining the two.
I use Level4 And save the Message as a Snippet (to Save a Copy) so that I can edit newer version when required)
I would certainly recommend keeping something locally preferably something that can handle the HTML links and formatting you use.

How can I post a simple message in the User Forum's page, immediately after logging in ?

I had earlier asked a question re: including Merriam-Webster online dictionary into the list of search engines in the text area to the right of the location bar. I received a very helpful answer from cor-el, using which, I was able to include both the Dictionary and Thesaurus into the said list.

Where can I find a user-guide for the awfull Text-Editor used to enter/edit these forums entries?

I am desesperate to understand how quite basic functions (just as one of many examples: how can I paste text, that I have formatted in MS Word and want to paste into a Forum Post-Entry?) can be done with the primitive and awful Text Editor used to enter/edit Forum Entries. Notice, that like many other Adobe users, I am not familiar at all with HTML and it is therefore a description of the badly named "Full Editor" that I am looking for.
Where can I find a User-Guide for this Text Editor?
My recommendation to Adobe: exercise enough brute pressure on the developers of this primitive Text Editor to force them to provide something more reasonable, more powerful and more intuitive.

I was trying to understand how I could do things as simple as inserting text that I had previously copied. Since there are neither command menüs nor buttons for the Insert of previously copied text, I was trying a mouse right click.....and was being offered in the context menu the choice between "Insert Link", "Insert Image", "Alignement", and "Insert Table"....... but no possibility of a plain insert of previously copied text.
Now, I realize, that Clearstream supports at least the keyword shortcut of "Ctrl V" ........that I am not using in any other software (I never use any keyboard shortcuts).
Since Clearstream does not support reasonable choices in the contextual menus, I will need to memorize the most important keyword shortcuts.
By the way: I detected now, that the "Ctrl V" keyboard shortcut allows me to insert formatted text.
Even, if I will now begin to be able to use reasonably Clearstream, I am quite surprised to see that such a software provides neither reasonable Contextual Menus, nor a User Guide, nor........

How Can Users Contact Forum Support?

While browsing through the site, I found this post: Welcome to Verizon Community Forums
While most of the links provided work, there is a link for "Forums Technical Support" that leads to a 404 error page. Is there a correct link for Forum Support?
The only real issue I seem to have with the forum is when it won't allow me to log in, and I've only ever had that happen twice. Both times I had several other people try from different networks with different logins, and no one was able to login. This makes it impossible to post in the forums, even to report that there is an issue.
It would be nice to have a way to contact Forum Support to let them know when there is an issue with logging in. Also, maybe a thread somewhere that only Admins/Mods have access to edit that lets forum users know when there is an issue. (This would put my mind at ease. No need to contact support to let them know that there is an issue if they are already aware of it.)
So, the short version:
1. Forum Support link is broken.
2. Forum Status thread would be helpful.
Just my thoughts, feel free to use, not use, add to, or consider indefinitely.
If a forum member gives an answer you like, give them the Kudos they deserve. If a member gives you the answer to your question, mark the answer as Accepted Solution so others can see the solution to the problem.

This appears that the link is supposed to go to the Forum Feedback and Suggestions board, which I already knew about. (Obviously, since this post is on that board.) So it looks like the link just needs to be updated.
Unfortunately, I was hoping for an alternate route to support and/or a status post.

At the end of the day, if they're saying you are something that you're not, there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be allowed to tell them to back off and prove why. I have logged in using my Apple ID, but I keep getting amessage that I can't post to the forum because I'm not logged in.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
This happens when you first navigate to a page that you may not access before you are logged in. For some reason Apple Discussions tells you you must log in. Then you log in, and then you are directed back to that 'you must log-in' page. Don't worry just carry on as normal - as you have done hear. I hope this is on the Moderators wish list as I have queried it before.

Can't post to forums since reset

I've done a Firefox reset, but I can't post to forums. There is no warning message, and if I post the same thing twice, there's a box that says "you've already posted this comment", but it doesn't show in the forum. It's fine on Internet Explorer. I used this constantly before the reset and it started when I uninstalled AVG and installed Symentec. Any suggestions?

Hi Meghraj, Thank you for your reply! I am afraid a screenshot will not reveal much. When I click on "add file" on the forum to post a pic it opens my files and once I select my file that I want to post and click on "open" it goes back to the forum page but the file is not there. When I do this same action with Internet explorer it works. But I don't really use internet explorer and would like to use firefox rather. A few members on the forum using firefox have the exact same problem. Any ideas? Thank you! :)

Tap and hold down on the link, and then select Copy from the pop up window. Once you have copied the link, tap and hold down in the text field to get the option to paste.
