Can't power on my device

I have da iPhone 3GS. for some reason I am unable to power it on. Can someone please help me??? I have tried even with the adapter plugged in the wall and its still not doing nothing.
thanks

I have had this apple tv for about a year and have had zero problems with it up until this week.  So far I have updated the software on apple tv, restored to factory setting, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, and made sure that all cables are securely connected to the tv and apple tv.  I know my internet connection is fine (because I can still watch movie previews) so that isn't it either.  I went to the apple support page and went through all the steps to troubleshoot it including making sure my firewall isn't blocking it.  Because I am clearly a moron I also managed to stop the streaming from apple tv to itunes.  Any ideas?

  • I have a PCI-FBUS card (dual port), can't connect over 60 devices to it?

I connect to various Fieldbus devices (all from the same manufacturer and same type as we are an OEM) that I am testing (I have 80 in my test system).  I have the dual port PCI Fieldbus card and am running communication manager 3.2 on Windows XP with service pack 2.  As part of my pretest (getting the devices on the bus and assigning them a unique address) I connect to a device and change its address to 20 and power off the device to have it drop off the bus then relay in the next device and connect to it and change the address to 21 etc etc---this process makes it easiest for me as then all I have to do is connect to the only device on the bus and know that it is the device I am interested in assigning to it a new unique address as the others are not on the bus.  I am able to get 30 devices per port (60 devices total since I have a dual port card).  After the 30th device is connected, albeit no devices show up on the bus since they are all powered off, I relay in my 31st device but I can't connect to it on a given port (at this point I have 30 devices that were connected to each port but are now powered off).  I have the card configured to operate within the address range of 16-102 for both ports.
What is the limit of the number of devices that can be connected to a given port?  What would be the recommended way of connected say 80 devices to a PCI card (40 per port).  For my application, after the so called pretest is complete, I do have to have up to 8 devices powered on at the same time (4 per port) so that is why I want to keep the addresses unique per device.  By the way I know this is not a physical connection issue with my station as I can connect to all devices when I limit my test to 60 devices (i.e. I can do the first 60 or the last 60 so the wiring etc is good as well as my assigned address space/parameters for the NI card).

    Hello Jim,
In NI-FBUS, the max number of devices that can be connected to a segment (port) at one same time is 32. This value is defined by FF specification.
    Please try the following method.
After connecting the 30th device, restart NI-FBUS Communications Manager (CM), then connect the 31th device. Check whether the problem still occurs.

My Apple TV can control all the apple devices in my home including my other family members devices why? I have home sharing on so my MacBook pro, iPad, and iPhone can be put on my tv. How do I only contol my devices?

Lots of questions but essentially you want to try three steps:
Reset the power on the device
    - issue continue?
Reset all settings from: Settings > General > Reset all settings > Reset All Settings
    - issue continue?
Restore the devices software: Settings > General > Restore > Retore
    - issue continue?
You likely have a hardware issue. Visit an Apple Retail Store

My iPod touch 4 generation 32gb sometimes is really slow. When ever my iPod is being slow and I get on an app the app will shut down. My lock botton is broken and I use the accesery botton to lock it. That being said I can't power down my iPod. I need help, I don't know what to do! Could you tell me how I can power down my iPod or how I can fix the slowness and the shutting down of the apps.

    - Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    - Next, reset the iPod
To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,
Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. All your wifi and bluetooth preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and repair BT devices
    Then you can try:
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

    Hi
Just alter the device from hda to hdb
    eg
    from
    disk = ['file:/OVS/running_pool/OVM_EL4U5_X86_HVM_10GB/system.img,hda,w',
    'file:/OVS/running_pool/OVM_EL4U5_X86_HVM_10GB/oracle10g_x86.img,hda,w',
    ',hdc:cdrom,r'......
    to
    disk = ['file:/OVS/running_pool/OVM_EL4U5_X86_HVM_10GB/system.img,hda,w',
    'file:/OVS/running_pool/OVM_EL4U5_X86_HVM_10GB/oracle10g_x86.img,hba,w',
    ',hdc:cdrom,r' .......
this way you mount you system image root volume as a device [hda]
and your oracle10g image as a device [hdb]

  • URGENT: iphone 4 hang, can't power down, can't receive calls, can't do anything

I've been using my iphone 4 for more since I got it when it came out 1.5 yrs ago with hardly any problems.
I updated to OS5 few weeks back and was totally Ok until today, I started my gmail, and the phone froze and the swirling symbol is going next to my full WiFi Access and ATT 2 bars signal strength.
It's been more than 30 mnts, and can't receive calls, can't power it down, and nothing I pressed or did seems to affect the device.
    What do I do?

Well, first, you can't revert back to OS 4.x, and second, a search of the forum will quickly show you that this could happen with 4.x, 3.x, 2.x and ever the original iPhone Classic.
And don't think of the iPhone as a phone; it's a very powerful pocket sized computer that can also make phone calls. And it can suffer all of the things that happen to any computer, like the Windows Blue Screen of Death and the Mac OS X kernel panic (which is what happened). It happens when memory gets full (RAM, not storage) or when one app steps on the memory of another. You can minimize the chance of it happening by turning the phone off occasionally, which shuts down all of the apps.

  • Can I connect two firewire devices?

Ideally, I need two firewire devices running at the same time: One camera to capture footage and one firewire external hard disk for the media files (about 160 GB).
    a) I've been told that I need a firewire external disc, because a USB hard disk would slow down the editing in Final Cut. Is this true?
    b) If so, can I connect two firewire devices to my MBP (74.53 GB internal hard disk), which has only one 400 Firewire port?

    1. Yes, FireWire is faster than USB. However, it would be better to edit on your main hard drive. Use the external drive just for storage and backup.
    2. You can chain up to 255 FireWire devices provided the total power requirements did not exceed the port's capabilities. A single FireWire drive and a camera shouldn't be a problem. However, you should know that some FireWire cameras may not play well with other FireWire devices. If you find apparent problems when both are connected to the port, then you may need to use each separately. In this case you may need to put the hard drive on a USB port while the camera is connected to the FireWire port unless the camera also supports transfers on USB 2.0.

  • Can't eject disk / can't open the eject device

I inserted a CD given to me by a client - into the superdrive on my powerbook G4 running OSx 10.4.7. The disk is not recognized at ALL. There is no error message, there is nothing. It's as if no disk is present. I cannot eject it. I followed all the steps listed here: http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/help/1/ as well as few more unorthodox ones like poking around (carefully!) with a paperclip to see if I could bump the disk out or something.
The last step on that link above is to type "eject cd" from the Open Firmware command line. I did this, and received the reply "can't open the eject device."
Everything seems to be running perfectly normally, but this CD will not get out.
Is there anyway to manually remove it without destroying the drive? I'm all out of ideas, and cannot find any reference to this problem anywhere.
    Thanks.
    powerbook g4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)

So I decided to try opening up the laptop to see if I could open the CD drive and take the thing out manually. So, first, I shut down the computer. Then, I read this article describing how to open the laptop, and was deterred!
    http://www.computerworld.com/softwaretopics/os/macos/story/0,10801,90256,00.html
That was more than I'm ready to take on, so I started up the laptop again, holding down the mousekey on startup just for the heck of it - after it had been totally shut down for about 5 minutes, and lo and behold, my CD was recognized, readable, and ejectable.
The troubleshooting info said to try the mousekey trick on RESTART. But in this case I had SHUT DOWN all the way for some minutes and the pressed the power button to restart. I guess that made a difference for some reason.
Anyway, maybe someone will find this info useful some day.

  • Update to iOS8.1 on iPhone 6, getting a flashing red screen alternating with Apple screen. Can't power off or do anything else.

While updating to iOS, it appeared that the download was progressing so I laid my phone down. Checked about a half hour later and I now have a continuously flashing red screen that alternates with the Apple screen. I can't power the device off nor use the home button. iTunes doesn't recognize the phone so can't sync or reload.

    Hello rwax,
The troulbeshooting steps detailed below can help get your iPhone to successfully power on.
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

  • Firewire port won't carri power to other devices

    Hi, I'm Juan.
I've reading lots of post about firewire troubles, but I can't seem to find my very strange firewire problem!!
    Here's the situation:
I once tryed a friend's firewire Alesis Audio Mixer that is powered through firewire and it worked perfectly. Then, (several monthes later) I tryed again, and it didn't work. I mean it didn't even turn on the light of the mixer (sign that, at least, there's electrical signal). Nothing.
Tried different 6pin-6pin cables (all that worked with he's computer and my macbook at least as data signal). Nothing. No electricity.
So I thought, the firewire OI of my macbook is dead.
But, then I connected my macbook to another macbook through firewire and it worked perfectly. I checked on System Profiler and the firewire is there, and it even recognises the device that it's connected.
So I thought, there's no problem with the firewire OI of my macbook .
But, then I tryed and old iPod Mini, using both USB and Firewire IOs. And here is the result of that:
USB: charges the ipod battery and sends data (works as it should be)
Firewire: sends data, but it won't charge the iPod battery.
So, basicly, what a I have here, is a white macbook with a 6 pin 400Mbs Firewire IO (data and power), that is behaving it self like a 4 pin 400Mbs Firewire (only data).
This Firewire IO is transmiting only data, but no electrical power to the devices.
    Question:
    1) Has anyone ever heard something like this before?
    2) Any "home" way to fix this?
    3) Should I send my macbook for Tech Support?
    Any comment will be appreciated.

Did the drive come with a two headed USB cable and if so did you connect both plugs.  Hard drives powered by a USB port are always a bad idea.  An external hard drive should have its own power supply.
When a USB port is overloaded it instantly turns off the power in an attempt to prevent damage to the USB port.

  • Can you charge while your device is off?

    Hi,
I have an iPod touch 4th Generation running iOS 5.1 and I was wondering if you can charge it when the device is off. Also, I know that if the device is off, and you plug it in, it will turn back on. So, when the device is plugged in, can you turn it off, then have it charge?

Yes, you can. After you plug it in and it turns back on, just turn it back off and "Slide to Power Off." It will continue charging.

  • My iPhone is stuck on the apple screen. How can I power it off?

How can I power off my phone,it is stuck on the apple screen?

    Hello GrayLady6,
Thank you for your question. It sounds like your phone is not responding and is stuck at the Apple logo. I would next reset the device with this process:
    Reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
From: Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If this does not resolve your issue, I would next attenot putting the device into recovery mode and then restoring it with iTunes:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
