Can't present 4.0.1 in Leopard!!

I had a class this morning at 6:00 am and quickly discovered that Keynote (v. 4.0.1) will open but won't present in my new leopard upgrade. I tested a bunch of apps right after the upgrade, but guess I just kind of assumed that the NEWEST version of iLife would have been built with Leopard as the primary focus. Whenever I attempted to go into presenter mode, the program crashed. As a result, I had to revert back to that "OTHER" presentation program which, ironically, worked flawlessly.
Does anyone know of a fix for this yet?

I get an error that "there may be a problem with SFWordProcessing plug-in". D
I have the same problem after installing and updating iWork 08. It's the transitions in my ~100 existing presentations. Aargh!
They better fix this quick.
I'm surprised that Apple would release Leopard with such a serious incompatibility with one of their one apps. Surely they encountered this problem pre-release?!

  • Can I present a keynote presentation using airplay and Apple TV? How do I set up airplay ?

Can I present a keynote presentation using airplay and Apple TV? How do I set up airplay ?

    Hi Andy,
You can do this reasonably easily.
First up you need to think about how you are going to drive the TV- Your iMac could do it, but a laptop would be easier if you can access one.
Second you need to look at the screen inputs. If it is a flat screen TV it is likely to have at least a VGA connection which you should have a connector to 'out of the box' and it will work much like connecting your mac to a projector would.
If not you'll probably need a connector for your mac that outputs composite (a single RCA connector) or S-Video to connect. You'll need to do this connection and find out the resolution the display supports before the big day (I live in a country with PAL which typically is 720x576). Make the Keynote presso the same resolution and you should be all good. A test drive is essential!
Here's a typical adapter from the Apple Store

Just as a thought- you could just burn a DVD with the images- it's pretty simple to set up (with transitions) a photo library in iDVD, though a little more tricky if you need the images to appear at certain times.

  • Can I dual boot Mavericks and Snow Leopard?

Hello. I own a 2011 i5 iMac. I recently started working with some softwares that will only work properly on Snow Leopard, but I have Mavericks installed. My question is: can I create a new partition in my HD and use BootCamp to install Snow Leopard?

If it is a Late 2011 model, then you cannot. The earlier models came with a special version of Snow Leopard on DVDs. You can install only that version of Snow Leopard. If you've lost those discs, then you are out of luck.
You do not use Boot Camp for this. Rather, you will use Disk Utility.
To resize the drive do the following:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
    3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.  (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
    4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss.  Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.

  • Can i have both Linux, Windows, and Leopard operating systems on my mac

Can i use Bootcamp to have a Leopard OS, a Linux OS, and a Windows OS partitioned on my single Macbook?

For Linux I much prefer having it under VMware Fusion because MacOS doesn't support ext3 and Linux doesn't support writing HFS, making it hard to share data between the two otherwise. The latest version of VMware Tools supports cut and paste between Linux and MacOS (last version of Parallels I used did not have ability to do cut and paste between Linux and MacOS and ran much slower with Linux) and Linux runs at pretty much full speed other than graphics (but I'm not running Linux for graphics, I'm running Linux for software development). Note that setting up your home directory (or a subdirectory thereof) as an NFS share, then mounting that within your Linux virtual machine, results in faster throughput than trying to do everything on the VMware virtual disk, all that lives on my VMware virtual disk is the actual operating system (I have my home directory mounted to a directory on my Mac where my source code lives). I usually use Aquamacs and p4v on the Mac side to actually edit and do source control on my source code, then pop down to the Linux window to compile it and do an initial smoke test to ensure that my fix actually fixed what I think it's supposed to fix, then pop back up to the Mac Finder to drag the result over to the open Finder window for the Engineering Test CIFS share on our corporate file server from whence the actual QA test systems in the lab can grab it and test it. It's a cool way to do Linux software development . Especially since I must develop for both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms for multiple distributions of Linux, and VMware lets me fire up a couple of them at a time (why I have 8GB of RAM? Now you know!) to do all this in a sort of overlapping manner.
For Windows... meh. I've used both the latest Parallels and the latest VMware with Windows 7, and both of them are sluggish even after you turn off all the various GUI effects under Performance and Accessibility and if you don't give at least 2GB of memory to the virtualized Windows 7 it gets really slow if you try to do anything sizable at all (such as run Microsoft Office to edit things that for some reason don't edit correctly in OpenOffice/NeoOffice). So Boot Camp it is, especially for playing games, which simply is not acceptable at all under virtualized Windows 7. Oddly enough, Windows XP runs acceptably fast under both Parallels and VMware, so I'm not sure what Windows 7 is doing that makes it work so poorly under virtualization. But that's Microsoft for ya, I guess...

  • Can't connect to smb webdevice on leopard ... tiger is working

    Hi,
I have a problem with my MacBook running Leopard (Update from Tiger). I try to connect to a network storage. I type the uri: smb://192.168.2.1/Musik
Leopard asks me for a username and password... after this dialouge '192.168.2.1' appears in the finder at the 'shared'-sidebar. If I click on it, it shows me the 'Musik' share. If I click on that one it throws an error (-42) and that's it. The entrys stay where they are but I can't access them.
On my iMac (running Tiger) it works without any problems. Whats happening here?
Is this a samba problem? Are there any solutions? Does anybody have similar problems?
Maybe this is problem can be fixed by doing a clean Leopard install instead of running an update? And if so: If I do a clean install by restoring my drives by my latest timemachine backups, doesn't this throw back all the tiger stuff as well?
    Thanks for help,
    Michael

-36 is a bit generic, but usually means the Windows® machine is denying because of bad Password. Have you tried deleting that particular reference/share in Keychain Access and redoing it?

Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud. How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Or can I? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion?

I need to check a few other things...
Click on 'Mail' in the upper left corner next to the Apple ()
    Click Preferences
    Click the 'Accounts' tab
Make sure your iCloud account is highlighted in the column on the left.
In the account information section what does it say next to:
    Incoming Mail Server?
    Outgoing Mail Server?
Also, did you use MobileMe before the iCloud?

When trying to burn a playlist to a blank CD, iTunes 10.3.1 won't recognize the blank CD I've inserted (Verbatim CD-R). I've burned using these CDs before, this is a recent problem. Not the burner, as I can burn using Toast. iMac with Snow Leopard 10.6.8

What kind of CD are you burning (Audio or MP3)?
If you're burning an MP3 CD, the songs must already
    be in mp3 format.
If not, iTunes will tell you that you have no songs
    in the playlist.
    M
I was making an audio cd. But I have since found out what the problem was. The files in my PLAYLIST I converted to aiff, since they were SDll files (I thought they were similar to AIFF, and they PLAY on Itunes...just won't burn.) When I selected the songs in the playlist and converted them...I thought all those files were converted, They were not. The converted files went into my LIBRARY, even tho I selected the ones in the playlist...and once I exchanged the SDll versions of the songs in my playlist. THEN they burned fine...but still...it's confusing..you say convert..it says it's been converted..and what they don't say is it's not been converted inside the playlist...where I had selected the songs...It just ADDED aiff versions..but only in the library...Anyway, that's what happened. But it's strange that it PLAYS SDll but won't burn them....and you'd think, logically..the ones you selected would change...but they don't. Playlists are mainly pointers to the actual files I guess...a sort of Alias..
At least it works now. But it's sad that the latest itunes does more, but also does LESS...as I used to be able to burn SDll files. Now I'll have to convert all my files to AIFF, and mp3's as I assume my ipod video won't play anything but mp3's?

  • How can i get xcode for osx snow leopard?

how can i get xcode for osx snow leopard?

I'm an experienced software developer (C, C++, Lisp, Linux, Unix, etc) but have never done any Mac development, and wanted to try some stuff on my iMac at home, but I have Snow Leopard and most of the turtorials I looked at said the first thing I had to do was download XCode and the first thing that happened when I tried to do that was it said I had to upgrade to Lion.
My iMac is running SnowLeopard.   I don't have any big reason to stay at SnowLeopard, but from stuff I've seen in the forums I can't see any big reason to upgrade to Lion.   I might eventually want to do development for IOS on an iphone or iPad, but for now I just want to do a simple tutorial app for my iMac.
I found the downloads search page, and it looks like there's two versions of Xcode  3.2.7 which has a release date of Sep 2011, and 3.2 with a release date of Jan 2012.
Which one should I download?   And if I download one of these will it be a problem if I do upgrade to Lion in a few months?
