Can't preserve opacity or gradients when viewing file outside of illy

lOkay, so my image is basically a series of very intricate geometries, (made up of lines), superimposed over an image of the milky way.   Some of the lines have 85 opacity and some have radial gradients applied to them.   I'm wanting to email my file to someone who doesn't use illy, for them to view so I want the file to be able to be viewed in whatever program eg; acrobat. So I saved it as a pdf and opened it to make sure it looked the same but to my dismay the image didn't preserve any opacity or gradients.   I'm sure it's something really simple but I'm a total illy noob so I have no idea what to do. It's quite important that I send this file asap and as it looks when in illy with opacity and gradients.   Would be very grateful if an adobe guru out there could help me asap!
Sorry about the link, only way i could cut and paste details from last discussion >>http://forums.adobe.com/message/3736183#3736183
previous post details everything that was suggested to fix the problem. I also mention that I was using a cracked ver of illy which was not the case, turns out it was a trial ver. Der. Clealy I'm not all that tech savvy.
If anyone has any ideas outside what was suggested in the last post I'd be very appreciative, Quite confused, and might I say a little bit frustrated, as to the nature of my problem

Hey thanks for the reply. I dont have indesign, but I think there should be a solution within illustrator. I mean why have opacity and gradients if you cant use them outside the program eg; for printing or pdf's. There must be a solution for this. I dont know much about indesign but I doubt that would work as the problem occurs when the image is viewed anywhere but illy, which means that its not saving or converting the transparencies. Tried to open in PS as a jpeg but that doesnt work either, no go as a pdf through acrobat and no luck as a bmp either. Thanks for your suggestion though.

When you saved the file as a PDF which you choose in the first dialog box that comes up on saving you will get another dialog box in which you choose the version and settings for the PDF. Try something like the following
    then
    and then
    See if this works.

  • Items "date modified" column when viewing files as list in finder

I'm not really sure if I can change this viewing option, but i will give it a try:
when viewing files as list in finder, "yesterday" items "date modified" column shows up with the term "yesterday", while this does not happen for "today" items, where what shows up is just today's date and not the term "today".
I found this rather confusing, since it is not immediate: i.e. if I want to check for items modified today at a glance, i need to pick today's date from a ist with a number of different dates. As a matter of fact, it's a way easier when checking for yesterday's items.
    Suggestions anyone?
    Thanks!

toygal -- welcome to the Aperture user-to-user forum. iPhoto was designed with you in mind. Aperture is 100x more complicated (and no faster). I strongly recommend that you revert to iPhoto and use it. Compared to Aperture, it will bring you more pleasure and cause you much less frustration. Whoever told you that Aperture is faster not only was wrong, they failed to take into consideration the hours that you would have to practice to become comfortable with it.
Here are some threads which briefly touch on the difference between iPhoto and Aperture -- use the search to find many more.

That hardware button can actually be toggled to work either as a mute button, or a lock orientation button. This can be edited at the settings screen.

  • Erratic behavior when viewing files

    Hello,
I've had a multitude of problems lately, but in short I have a new hard drive and have topped out my memory at 3Gb. However, I still do not understand why when viewing images and documents from Macintosh HD -> Home Folder -> Search this is still happening: the file list will not stay still! The list keeps bouncing around like a ping pong ball, no matter what viewing mode I am in. It is really annoying because I am fighting to scroll down and when I find a file to drill down on, the list jumps and I lose my place. The "jumping" seems to be happening at regular intervals, perhaps every 5-7 seconds.
I have also noticed that all stock Adobe (Photoshop Elements) images are highlighted in green. I never noticed this before, and I don't know if this has anything to do with my problem or not. But I do know that when I bring up these "jumping" file lists, the first file the list seems to be fixed on is the first Adobe stock image on the list, even though it is never the first file in the list (no matter how the list is sorted).
Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I Googled this issue using many different combinations of keywords with no useful search results. I can't possibly be the only person on the planet who has experienced this problem.
    Thanks.

Problem solved, or at least alleviated, by turning OFF File Vault.

  • How can I preserve the modify date of the files I transfer from my local computer to the remote webserver?

How can I make sure the the modify date of files are not updated to the date the file was uploaded or downloaded.
There are multiple people working on my sites and I am the only one that uses Dreamweaver.  The problem this presents is when  one of my colleagues works on an image and I want to update my local computer it changes the date of the image to the date that I downloaded it and now when I compare what I have on my local computer to what is on the server they are different modify dates.

Dont think you can find out the date of purchase!
Where should know this without a payment bills or sales checks.
What you can do is to find out when the notebook was registered on the Toshiba page.

  • Noise & shapness when view files in Bridge

I am a CS6 user, good but not advanced.  I recently upgraded from a Nikon D3 to a D4.  When viewing D4 files in Bridge after downloading the images (files) appear to contain a lot of noise and to be unsharpe; they appear sharp on the LCD screen on the camera.  I have not experiences with my D3.  I believe I have set my preferences properly.  When the files are opened in CR or CS6 the noise seems to go away and sharpness is normal; the images print up tack sharp.  Any idea what's going on?  I'm through out some files that appeared bad, but may have been good.

In Bridge choose folder with bad images.  Click Tools/cache/purge cache for xxx folder.  If this solves problem purge cache for rest of system, either globably, or if you have cache exported to folders then the Tools/cache method.

  • Audio Scratches when viewing on outside monitor

I'm not certain why this happens. When I go to view the timeline outsourcing it to a TV monitor. I get a warpped sound along with scratching. It sounds great in the computer, but that doesn't help me. I can never get a clean transfer to burn on DVD.
    Any thoughts!
    Emac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    It's under the Sequence menu.
Too many audio tracks and changes can overwhelm a systen resulting in bits being left out.
Mixing Down makes a temp audio file that puts all the audio tracks into one. Your Mac now uses this file rather than accessing all the individual bits of audio from various places on your system.

  • Domain computers can't runt RD Web applications when connected from outside company – Windows server 2012 R2

    Hi Everyone,
I have a question related to RDweb service.
I have successfully installed RD web role on windows server 2012 R2.
All went ok. I also installed a valid third party certificate.
I can connect from outside to the server and run applications using any devices: Ipad’s, mobiles and laptops.
The problem is that: Any Computer/Laptop that is joined on the domain can connect to RDWEB from outside the company BUT CAN'T RUN ANY APPLICATIONS. The RD session is taking long time it failes.
Note that from inside the network is working.
    What it can be?
    Thank you in advance,
    Criss

    Hi,
The internet connection from where I’m doing the tests is quite good. I think the error with the latency is not relevant because probably the computerRD gateway it doesn’t allow it and that way it fails with this error. For a computer that never been joined
on the domain is working perfect no delay at all..
We are using RD Gateway … installed everything on the same machine Windows server 2012 R2.
When I click RemoteApp I see the remote the prompt of RD gateway, I click ok, then nothing happened for 2-3 min. after this time it brings the error with the delay.. OR “couldn’t connect on the remote computer because an error occurred on the remote
computer that you want to connect to.”
Again, the connection is failing ONLY when we try to connect from outside the company and it happened ONLY with the Computers that are joined on the Domain.
EX: An user (with Office Laptop - joined on domain) can connect to RD Gateway and lunch the RemoteApp’s from inside LAN but when is leaving Home can’t run the Remote App;s. In the meantime he can connect and run RemoteApp’s with his private computer.
What it can be different between the Office and his home private computer?
For Outside users we’ve have open only port 443 on firewall. Why need to open UPD 3391?
I’ve notice that if I take a laptop that is working and join it on the domain it will have the same issue. If will dis-join it will still have the same issue after all.
    Thank You

  • Color changes when viewed in outside program or on the web!

This is a long ongoing problem. Here goes:
After editing a raw photograph in CS3 and saving it... when I open it in another program such as Canons DPP, Zoombrowser or upload it to the web it looks desaturated and the sharpness I applied via USM is very dulled.
My camera is set to sRGB as is all the settings (that i know of at least) in CS3.
I feel like its not a calibration issue because if I edit the photo in Canons DPP and upload it to the net it all looks exactly the same. Also, i just did a quick drastic change to a photo in DPP and opened it in Bridge and it looked alright, no drastic change. So it seems like its an issue with info coming out of CS3.
I've tried monitor calibration with a Huey... but I have a feeling theres a strange coating on my screen that keeps making the calibration come out abnormally greenish no matter what light I calibrate in.
Any help would be HUGELY appreciated, as this problem has halted all my photography work since i changed from using just DPP to CS3. The raw files are just piling up!

That won't necessarily work if the classpath is set when the application server is started. I would check the batch file that starts your app server to see what the classpath is in there. From there you can determine if your class files are in the classpath or not.

  • "Out of Memory" Message When Viewing Files

What the origin of the "out of memory message"?  I can't view a 1.3 MB pdf and am wondering what the source of this message is.  Any ideas?  TIA.

Not to be rude or insult intelligence, but What format is the timeline in. Not the video files (It's great that you put them to PR422, but if your timeline's native format is something other than PR422, Final cut is going to try to render files in that format... )
And Again please define "Huge"... How big of a hard drive are you using, and how much RAM space do you have? I checked your profile for any further information, but found none. these are key things to helping figure out your problem.

  • How can I update Acrobat X Pro when uninstaller file is missing?

I have Adobe Acrobat X Pro installed on my Mac OSX and I keep getting messages that I should update it. Then an error message comes up saying I need to uninstall Acrobat X Pro first because the file was modified since installation. I have no idea why the file should have been modified. I cannot uninstall Acrobat X Pro, because the Acrobat X Uninstall file is greyed out and it has a little arrow on the lower left corner indicating that the original file may be stored somewhere else, but I can't find it anywhere. I have tried to download the uninstall the file from the Adobe website but can't find it - only cleanup files for Adobe on Windows and for Adobe CC programs. Can anyone help me uninstall and re-install Acrobat X Pro (without having to purchase it again)?

Hello again and my apologies for taking so long. My Internet connection was off for a couple of weeks and I had to get a BT engineer to fix it. When I tried to reply from a friend’s house my email was returned to me as undeliverable. So, this is my next attempt. I found the Adobe Updater log in Console Utility and I have pasted it below. None of the downloads I have tried so far have worked.
Can you make any sense of the log?
    Best regards

  • Can't now dismiss underneath page when selecting file from content.

I mentioned this in another report on my missing copyright sign. The two seemed to occur coincidentally.
When I depress Alt at the time of selecting a topic from a page in order to have just that one topic onscreen, the page remains on screen underneath the topic selected. Does anyone know what's gone wrong here? T.I.A.

    Bumped.
I'm trying to get back to dismissing the underneath page when I choose one from that original.
Let's just say I select Apps. The page comes up. I then select an item within Apps with the Alt key depressed in order to have just that item I've selected to be on the screen. However, the underlying main Apps screen still remains there instead of being dismissed. I know I can get rid of it by clicking the red, top left, but I should be able to do what I mention, click on Alt and dismiss it as the selected item comes up.
Anyone . . . ? I know it can be done because I've been working that way for a long time!

  • How can a non dba user manipulate the dump file outside of oracle ?

I have a business request to allow a none DBA database user to dump his tables and he can move his dump file on the Unix box from a file system to another file system. This user has a none oracle unix account. When using traditional exp, this is not a problem. But in expdp, all dump files are owned by oracle. Does anybody know how to change the ownership without a DBA involved?
    Unix: Sun Solaris
    DB: 10g
    Storage: sand disk

following option 1, problem is now the command in the shell script like chmod 744 doesn't allow this none dba user to change the permission, since he doesn't own the file. you can test yourself:
    changepermit.ksh 755
chmod 744 dump.dmpSo have the script owned by oracle:dba change the owner!
    $ echo "" > bla
    $ ll bla

    $ chmod 640 bla

    $ chown smk bla

    -rw-r-----   1 smk    users            1 Nov 10 16:53 bla

/usr/bin/ksh: bla: cannot createNote you'll have to move it unless you let oracle write to it.

  • Difference when viewing PDF render with /workspace-server/ and /DocumentManager/

    Hi all,
There are 2 scenarios when viewing file in attachment:
    1) When user is processing the form, they view the attachment in attachment tab. The url's format is: https://mydomain/workspace-server/documents/-6195445997301787088-16.pdf
    2) My client's requirement is to view files in attachment tab even after the process is complete.
What i have done is to write a custom java component, retrieve attachment of the last task and return to user.
The url has format: https://mydomain/DocumentManager/docm1266831910962/53650adc3948bd502cf8c81d4885feec?type=Y XBwbGljYXRpb24vb2N0ZXQtc3RyZWFt
(I also found that the file is generated under GDS folder)
In both of the cases, navigateToURL() function is used to view the pdf in new window.
My trouble starts from here. In several client's machine, case 2 always ask them to save the form instead of viewing in the browser, while case 1 always can be viewable.
Below is the image of case 2 when i click in the link:
The strange thing is in local environment, both cases are working ...
Is there any idea why it happen?
My client is using windows xp, IE 6 and adobe reader 9. Some of them are using windows vista, IE 7 and adobe reader 9.
In local environment, we have tested successfully with
    1)
    Window XP
    IE6/IE7/FireFox/Google Chrome
    Adobe reader 9
    2)
    Window vista
    IE7
    Adobe reader 9

    You are confusing me
But first, the setContentTypeFromBasename() is an ES2 addition to the Document class.  Didn't realize this was a pre-ES2 case. Sorry about that.
Next, you say you are removing the ?type=ASDFASDFASDF from the url on the client. This must be there so the DocumentManager servlet can set the proper content-type in the http response.  I looked at the code and if it isn't there, no content type is set so it will be browser and os dependent on what it will do,although i would expect most to prompt.
And however your custom component and the short lived process work, that document output variable needs to have the proper content-type set in it (the Document has a setContentType() method in 8.2 but you will have to do the mapping from file extension to mime-type yourself in 8.2).  If it does and you don't remove the type parm from the url, then things will work.  But if that type parm isn't there or the content-type isn't set in the document output var, the browser will not know which application/plugin to launch and will prompt.
