Can't print from mac book pro to Ricoh Aficio MP C4500

Hello, today i started working in a new office, that uses a Ricoh Aficio MP C4500 printer and everyone in the office uses windows computers. I have a Mac Book Pro 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, on it, I am running Mac OSX 10.6.6.
When I have tried to print several different file types such as .pdf, .doc, .txt, etc. the printer prints out usually 20 pages that are all coded or blank and nothing similar to what i printed out. I'm guessing this is due to the printer not understanding the language of the data i send to it.I know that i am successfully connecting to the right printer.
I've visited several webpages that discuss how to fix the issue but none of them have worked.
I have tried downloading the mac osx 10.5 drivers from the Ricoh website(they didnt have 10.6) that didn't work and when i printed i still got all blank/coded pages.
Next I went I tried typing the the printer IP address to my browser url... that didn't help.
Next I went to the apple website and downloaded all of their mac osx 10.6 ricoh aficio drivers and when i printed i got all blank/coded pages again.
next i went and downloaded the "ghost script" "footmatic" and "pxlmono" and when i printed i got all blank/coded pages again.
all of the other webpages gave no other advice. Also, when printing each time i tried all of the different protocols, that didnt make a difference.

It sounds like the printer does not have the optional PostScript module installed.

The drivers that are available from the Ricoh web site or are available from Apple only work when the PostScript module is installed.

After you downloaded and installed the Ghostscript, Foomatic-RIP, and pxlmono drivers, did you delete your existing Ricoh print queues and create new print queues? Did you choose the driver that had pxlcolor in the title?
If the pxlmono/pxlcolor drivers do not work properly for you, you will need to have the IT person tell you what printer languages the printer can use. Alternatively, you can print a configuration page from the printer keypad that will print a sheet telling you what languages it can use.

First delete the printer on the Mac.
Make sure you go to Canon's website and download latest driver for your Mac. Canon's software driver site detects your operating system automatically and takes you to the driver you need, just make sure everything matches up. You can see the OS version you are using by clicking on the apple icon and then (about this mac)
I also down loaded network tool package. Not sure if you need it, but I loaded it too.
Now on the Canon MX870, go to the wireless set up menu. (key pad on the printer itself). Follow the promts and you will get to where you can enter your network password and get your printer to connect to your router. Now the wireless Icon on the printer will be on steady.
Now back on the Mac, Click the Apple Icon, System Preferences, then click on printers and scanners.
You will see, Default- Scanner- IP- Windows, icons at the top of the page. Just be sure the default is highlighted.
My Scanner came up first, then a few seconds later the printer appeared.
Select the printer
Use the one with all the numbers after the printer name. (MX870xxxxxxxxxxx)
Canon U Network
Click on it and then click the add button bottom right
Make sure your are always in good wireless signal strength throughout the entire process.

The KX-MB722 is one of the few remaining printers in the class of devices called "Windows Printers" that has no on-board printing software -- it relies on a host computer to provide all of the software functionality and Panasonic only provides such software for certain versions of Microsoft Windows. In this case, it means a 32-bit version of Microsoft Windows (2000-XP, though it will probably reliably on Windows versions up to 7). I'm pretty sure that the device doesn't support remote printing without the software either (e.g., you can't setup a computer with Windows on it, share the printer, and then print to the shared printer without their software).

You can just download the free ClamXav and scan your entire drive - but as there are no known viruses for OS X (although there is malware - see Thomas Reed's excellent Mac Malware Guide) it's very unlikely that you have a virus.
The best source against malware is OS X itself and common sense. Don't click on links in suspicious emails and be careful of anything that wants to install something on your computer that is not from a reputable source.

• You could copy the data file to your laptop, work on it, and update the file on the iMac when you are back.
• You can use an application like Log Me In to access your home computer from your laptop.
• You can use DropBox. Install it on both computers, place your data file in a folder on the iMac, access it and work on it on your laptop and it will be automatically updated on your computer at home, even if it is not turned on, as soon as it is connected to the internet.

I use my MacBook Pro all the time when downloading something from the iTunes store without losing my connection. If you would probably depends on the general stability of your WiFi or LAN connection, but you should not.
Also, if a download should get interrupted you can always start it again by going to "Downloads" in iTunes.

I do not know the iWire adapter, but I use an inexpensive ($3) DVI to HDMI adapter from Monoprice, along with a regular HDMI cable:

Be aware that this will only transfer video. You Macbook Pro cannot combine audio through DVI to HDMI. You will need to listen to the audio through the Mac speakers, or attach speakers or a sound system to the Mac earphone jack, or determine if your TV has the ability to accept external sound from the Mac while showing video through HDMI (few can).

Even if you could open Disk Utility you can't reformat a disk while you are booted from it. You will have to use the install CD. OT ~ We keep becoming more and more aware of how easy it is to lose one's bearings when it comes to keeping up with info tech. My husband and I are both official members of the geezer set and have been out of the work force for some years. You really do pick up so much just by being in the environment where people are using things to get work done. A couple of old MP3 players, PPC G5, and a vintage Inspiron 3800 that someone didn't want any more is about it. No cell phone, no iPod, no iPad, no home wireless network, no streaming media. Fixed income. So we do with what we can as long as we can. If we could get by without that Intel processor, we'd probably make do with what we've got. On the other hand, we've really wanted a notebook for a very long time and have to admit that needing to upgrade to accomodate my husband's project is pretty much just the "reason" we need. I really mean it when I say that we are beyond appreciative that users take the time to share info and patiently educate those of us who fall into the "slow tech" category.
