Can't print from PC using AExtreme connected printer...

Hi!
I have an AirportExtreme BS connected to my cable modem and I can connect to the internet using my PB G4 and my wife's Dell PC using Windows XP. She is using a Belkin Wireless Network Card. No problem there!
I also have a Lexmark C510 printer connected to the Airport Extreme via UBS. I can print without a problem from the PB G4 but on the Dell PC we can't even get it to recognize the Lexmark printer.
When contacted directly Lexmark said that they don't provide support for Airport Extreme, blah, blah...
Any words of advice?
Thanks!
Dennis

I suggest you follow the detailed instructions found at:

How can you monitor a directory using jndi connection to a ldap server? I
want the ldap server to monitor the content change in a file system
directory on another computer on the network. Can someone please help.
    Thanks
    Fred

    Hi,
Why do you want to use LDAP for Hard disk monitoring..???
U can do this by creating a MD5 checksum for all the files existing in some
    perticular
directory and every hour or any configurable period u can recalculate the
    checksum
to find out the change in the content.
I guess all u need is to get the code for "updatedb" utility of Linux and
    instrument it for ur needs..
    Hope it helps...

  • Can't boot from DVD using C key

I desperately need to use DiskWarrior on my startup disk. I have used it on my secondary internal hard disk with no problems. A couple of years ago my Apple keyboard went up on me and I needed a replacement immediately (I worked from home), so I ran out to OfficeDepot and bought a Microsoft keyboard that had software with it to make it run with a Mac. It has done fine for me. However, when trying to boot from DiskWarrior, I hold the C key down and it doesn't boot from the DVD, it just boots from my internal startup disk. I was able to install Mac OS X 10.4 with the DVD and this keyboard, however. DiskWarrior tech support dudes tell me it is the fault of the Microsoft keyboard. I'm not so sure (since I installed 10.4 with this keyboard). I don't want to buy an Apple keyboard "just in case." But perhaps this is a known issue by somebody "out there." Any help would be appreciated (before my startup disk explodes altogether). Thanks!

I have 3 Microsoft keyboards, going back to my G4 MDD. Usually plugged into an Apple Display, but on some occassions I've had to plug it directly into front USB port (or rear, front is accessible).
The one thing that I would do, is not just "zap PRAM" from cold boot, but boot into the Open Firmware screen and RESET-NVRAM, and see if that helps. Force the device ID list to be rebuilt, and does a more complete job than zapping can.
There have been a lot of major problems with Apple USB hub type support. I too was troubleshooting an issue and got the "run around."
The only time I've seen where someone could not boot from a DVD/CD was when the hard drive in the system directory was severely corrupt - OS X looks to find any and all bootable devices even when you boot from CD or another drive. And a damaged journaling file is even harder to fix usually.
Outside of the G4 PCI model (1999, early '00) a G4 can boot from Firewire, any problem I'd guess was a defective FW port; some FW cases themselves.
I never really use DW CD. Always always clone your system; create an Emergency boot drive to work from - and used only in emergency so you know it works and isn't just a backup. And, of course, a backup of your working system.
USB cables can flake out. Even new. The USB extension cable Apple includes being one such that has been known to be the culprit. So doubt and verify any cables and devices.
One G5 owner has a LaCie drive not even connected, but the FW cable was, hanging out the back, and would cause:
slow boot sometimes; kernel panic other times; pull the cable, life is back to normal again. FW cables and devices (not sure if LaCie has the market cornered or not) that "wipe out" FW ports, cause shorts, should be avoided (maybe banned).
I've used an MS keyboard for about 4 yrs on my G4, still running 10.4.11. Ever since my Apple split ergonomic keyboard died, and I've got 4 Apple Pro keyboards sitting around (I can palm a basketball but don't like typing on small keyboards). Currently use MS 3000 and 4000 keyboards.
There are lots of reports of Leopard where the system is not responding, but the mouse able to move, but no interaction - can't launch anything or even bring up the Force Quit dialogue. The system being totally non-responsive, and people force shutdown, with high potential of leaving the directory in disrepair.
Mac OS 10.2.5 was suppose to fix and solve USB hub problem. That updated lasted less than two weeks. USB issues have been around, as have Firewire problems. Even Windows Vista can loose track of and get confused by unplugging/replugging devices multiple times that it looses the device ID.

  • Call Web Applications from Xcelsius using LiveOffice connections

    Hi,
I have read the HTG: "How To... Call BEx Web Applications from SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards (Xcelsius) and vice versa" here on SDN. Problem is that it is using BW Connection as connection.
Is it be possible to call web applications using Live Office connections?
    Br,
    Sonni

    Hi Sonni,
If you are building dashboard using live office connection and you want to give a drill down to detailed webi or crystal report, you can use Open document interface. In the particular HTG you have mentioned, Open document approach is not possible because dashboard is based on SAP BW. Since you are using live office, i guess you have the source report published  in BOE and you can use open document approach here.
If this is not your requirement please mention your exact requirement.
    Hope it helps you.

  • Can't import from DB using Admin tool

    Hello
I have a problem that I'd like to get some help on. I have installed OBIEE 11.1.1.7 on Linux as well as the OBIEE Client Tool on Windows. I have modified the user.cmd file so that now the file has the following content:
    @echo off
REM This file is a placeholder for setting environment variables
    REM set TNS_ADMIN=/home/oracle/app/MV_Home/Oracle_BI1/network/admin
In my Tnsname file, I have 3 entries:
    Entry 1 -- DB1
    Entry 2  -- DB2
    Entry 3  --DB3
The same Tnsname file has been stored in the linux machine as well..
My dashboard and reports are working fine.. I am also able to import table from DB1, DB2,DB3..
Now I have added one more entry to the tnsname file for DB4. So I modified the tnsname with the entries and updated them on both windows and linux..
On my linux, I am able to connect to DB4 with sqplus, on windows, I am able to connect as well via toad and sqldeveloper.
When I open my rpd in Online mode, I change the connection pool parameters with DB4 information, I am able to update rowcount.
However, I am not able to import table from DB4 using neither offline rpd nor online rpd.
I am not sure where to look in order to debug this issue.
    Any thoughts?

    Hello Srini
I double-checked my tns entry on my windows, it has the below:
    186 =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = xxx.xx.xxx.xxx)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = xman)
So I to the comment line i did 'tnsping xxx.xx.xxx.xxx', i got the following result:
TNS Ping Utility for 32-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.3.0 - Production on 20-Jun-2013 11:08:51
Copyright <c> 1997,2011, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    Used parameter files:
    c:\Oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\admin\sqlnet.ora
Used EZCONNECT adapter to resolve the alias
    Attempting to contact <DESCRIPTION=<CONNECT_DATA=<SERVICE_NAME=>><ADDRESS=<PROTOCOL=TCP><HOST=XXX.XX.XXX.XXX><PORT=1521>>>
    Ok <10 msec>
So that means I was able to ping xxx.xx.xxx.xxx.
What would be the next thing to look into?
    Much appreciated

  • EX5210 to MacBook Pro... I can't project my desktop using HDMI connection.

However,  I can show a PPT display. What if I want to do a live web demo from my desktop internet connection?

The default supported by Mac OS X is Extended desktop. It looks like this:
The displays are connected along an edge, and you are free to drag anything, including an Application window, so that part or all of it appears on either or BOTH displays.
PowerPoint may be taking extensive liberties with the standard interface to get its windows up.

  • How can I retrieve the col data size and Null information from table using labview connectivity toolset

    Hi, there,
I am wondering how to get the table information by labview database
connectivity toolset. The table list vi comes with the toolset can get
only col name, data type and data size. And I found the the data size
always gives back -1, even though it is a string type. Do somebody has
    some idea about it?
    Thanks.
    JJ

    JJ,
Go into the diagrams of the DBTools List Columns and DBTools Get Properties respectively. When you inspect this diagram, you will see the raw ActiveX properties and methods called to get the size information. The value of -1 means the requested recordset is already closed. This is the sort of thing that is controled by the driver (ODBC, OLE DB, Jet, etc) you are using. Notice that you can right click on the property and invoke nodes and get more information about these specific items directly from the ADO online help.

  • Can the BC API be used to connect/synch directly to a iPhone App (app local database)?

    Hi Guys,
I'm just starting a project in collaboration with an iPhone App developer, they're building an app where a user will input survey data which is saved to a database within the app, then when the phone has a connection, the data is uploaded to a database. I want to use BC and extend the CRM to store the data captured from the app against a customer/case record, which will subsequently be displayed and modified by admin staff through a web front end. If necessary I'll use a Web App for part of this functionality.
I know the BC Web Services API can connect to an external database, but before designing a solution that requires building an external database to store the iPhone app data just so that BC can connect to it, can you tell me whether it's possible for the BC Web Services API to connect directly with an iPhone App (with integrated database)?
Totally new territory for me, so any answer to my question, or other help, tips and advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards, Mark.

Many thanks for your helpful feedback TheBCMan, that's very clear. The more I've researched this, the more roadblocks appear and the more it appears BC is not going to work for this project, which is a shame as some of the other BC features are perfect for the project as a whole. However, before giving up, can I run the points below by you to validate or disprove any of my current understanding?
I understand I will need to stand up an external db/app to synch with the iPhone app to save the customer survey data, and I understand I will then be able to connect the external db/app to the BC API and pull the survey data into a extended CRM form.
However, once the data is in BC, I cannot work out a way where I could edit that CRM form data with it's assigned to a Case? That is, I understand it's possible to display/edit CRM form data assigned to a 'contact' of a customer record, but the problem here is I can only access the data to edit it when logged on as that customer. But this is data a staff member will access (customers will not be able to access it) and staff will not have access to the customers login credentials. So it's not feasible to assign the CRM data at the Contact level, agree/disagree?
If I set up one staff member as a customer (so one unique login) and save all the (potentially hundreds) of survey data CRM forms as individual 'Cases', but as I understand it, whereas this overcomes the customer logn issue, I won't be able to add a web form to a page to edit the survey data CRM form, because it's assigned to a Case, not a Contact in this scenario, agree/disagree?. (This is the approach I really hoped would work out)
And as you said, I can't use a Web App, which would overcome both of the issues above, because I can't access a Web App from the BC API.
So, in conclusion, these appear to be no way around these roadblocks, unless you can tell me otherwise?
    Thanks again for your help.
    Regards, Mark.

  • Can not deploy a report using JDBC connection on CR2008 Server

    Hi Group,
I have a report created with JDBC connection. When I tried to add it to CR2008 server, it gives an error - "An unexpected error has occurred ". Basically I want to add a report to a public folder via CMC. I am using adminstrator account.
Then I thought I need to add JDBC driver into CR2008 server. so I put oracle jdbc jar into CR2008 server classpath and add JDBC connection info into CRConfig.xml. but I still got the same error.
    I also tried:
    - Change the report to use native Oracle driver rather than JDBC. The deployment succeeded (but this is not what I want)
    - Add a data source connection via Business View Manager, but no luck.
I know how to use/change jdbc connection with programtic way, but I just want to know if I want to use built-in components in CR2008 server without any coding the reports can be deployed and managed.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dennis

    Hello Will,
Crystal Reports supports connections to JDBC/JNDI out of the box, and have done so for a while, whether stand-alone or published to Enterprise.
To specify where the server would search for the JDBC driver jar files, you'd change the classpath tag found in the CRConfig.xml file found on the machine where the Crystal Reports Page or Job Server is running.
For early Crystal Enterprise 10 and before, it used Java Native Interface (JNI) to start the Java process to retrieve the data from the JDBC connection.
For later Crystal Enterprise 10 and later, it starts off a "Java Server" process, and communicates to the Crystal Reports process via CORBA TCP/IP connection.
Commonissues that may arise:  (1) CRConfig.xml not configured properly, (2) unable to start or communicate to the "Java Server" because of permissions or firewall.
Note that this is a separate connectivity map from using ADO or ADO.NET.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Can MoCA Cable Adapters Be Used To Connect Ethernet to Apple TV?

I don't want to run a new 50'-60' ethernet line throughout the house (through the basement), to connect an ethernet line from my 2013 iMac Modem to the Apple TV …. and was wondering if anyone has experience using the newer MoCA cable line adapters for their ethernet extensions?
Below is the MoCA adapter I am considering using:
    ActionTec MoCA Cable/Ethernet Adapter(s)

After talking with others, I'm dropping the whole ActionTec MoCA interest ….
… and going for a simple Ethernet switch device, and running inexpensive Cat6 RJ45 cable from the iMac/Modem location to the Apple TV, across the house. Too much trouble, time consuming, and potential headaches wiring in and justifying the cost of the ActionTec's MoCA adapters. No doubt would have hours of trouble getting the MoCA adapters up and running. Besides, also read some bad reviews on Amazon about ActionTec Tech Support, and ActionTec MoCA adapter reliability over time.
The KeeBox SGE05 5-Port 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet Switch (below/at Amazon), should do the trick …. along with picking up about 40'-50' of inexpensive Cat6 RJ45 cable.  I'll just be running it along the same internet cable line TimeWarner put in to my iMac & Internet Modem.
                                               KeeBox SGE05 5-Port 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet Switch
                                            http://www.keebox.com/products/productdetail.asp?prod=100_SGE05&cat=80
    http://www.amazon.com/KEEBOX-SGE05-1000Mbps-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B004FM58MO/ref=s r_1_14?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1428282923&sr=1-…
Standard Cat6 RJ45 Ethernet Cable (All Colors)
        http://www.amazon.com/Cat6-Networking-Ethernet-Patch-Cable/dp/B00BEX6218/ref=sr_ 1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1428283894…
                                                                            Found Everywhere (All Colors)
So for around $25 bucks total, versus $125.00 (+/-) for (2) MoCA Adapters ….. and a 15-30 minutes installing the CAT6 cable along the same TimeWarner Internet cable line from my iMac…. I'd be done!
Sometime "keeping it simple" (KISS) is still the best method.

  • Can an airport express be used to connect to things other than apple products?

I have not yet bought this product, but I was wondering if it will only connect to apple products or other products for example my PS3?

Yes, if you have an AirPort Express 802.11n.  If you are not sure, look on the side of the device for the Model Number. You want to see # A1264.
This also assumes that the AirPort Express is located at a point where it can receive a strong signal from the Time Capsule.

  • Unable to retrieve inbound EDI X12 transactions from VAN using FTPS connect

When out B2B process is polling we do not seeing any attempts to connect to the ftp site. We have no problems putting EDI outbound transactions to the VAN with the same connection, but never see an attempt to get transactions. We enabled the transport trace logging, but are not seeing any connection information in this log file nor in the b2b.log file. Why would we be able to put files to the VAN but not pick up files with the same connection information?

It is possible to have the outbound FTP/S working while the inbound FTP/S is not. The reason is due to different configuration of delivery channels. In the outbound case, B2B uses the remote trading partner delivery channel information to login and to drop the file whereas B2B uses the host delivery channel information to login and to poll whether there are any files in the FTP/S server.
Please verify again that your host delivery channel and tip.properties settings are correct.
    Thanks,
