Can't Print :( have called apple and HP, CUPS problem?

Thankyou very much to anybody who is reading this! In short, My printer will not print from my iMac (brother can print from his laptop). I have called apple and HP and neither one of them could solve the problem. With HP, we have found out that the printer is online and talking to the computer wirelessly. We have tried software up dates, reinstalations, and just about everything HP could think of. They diagnozed that it was a CUPS problem and they were not authorized to help me. I then called apple and they didnt know what to do. Does anyone know what the CUPS problem is? Further more how to fix it? I am very grateful for any ideas! Please help! Feel free to ask any further details you would need to help me!

NEVER use HP software on your iMac. Uninstall ALL of the HP software following HP's instructions for doing so! Next turn off the printer and then restart the iMac in Safe Mode, the Safe Mode restart will clear some caches, it's possible one has become corrupt. Next install the printer on the network following the Network wizard on the front panel of the printer. Once it's on the LAN restart the iMac normally and the printer should be seen. If it isn't then run Software update and see if you have the most up-to-date software Apple provides. Install any updates that are suggested following the on-screen instructions. If you still don't see the printer open System Preferences - Print & FAX and see if the printer is seen in the left hand column. If it is and you still cannot print select the printer in the left hand column and right click it, then select Reset Printing System....
If it still won't install post back with the results you got. Take your time and be methodical.
If you didn't get it the first time NEVER install HP software on your iMac.

In addition to rebooting the router and the iPad, I would reset the printer as well. Unplug the printer from power and do the same with the router. Leave the router unplugged for about 30 seconds. Plug the router in first and let it totally start up, plug the printer in again, and then reboot/reset the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't work, you can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. Your WiFi passwords, location services, device preferences all have to be re-entered. You will not lose any data or media whatsoever.

I have both Apple and Android devices. My Android devices will not stay connected to wireless . I have the Airport Express. The Android devices are a Galaxy S4 and Tab 3. These both worked perfectly on my ancient Linksys WRT 120 N wireless router.

I have called Apple support twice and no one can confrm or deny as to whether Android devices can connect with the Airport Express. I have had the it configured 3 times so far and my Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 are useless with the Airport Express.

Every Wireless router ever made is actually made of two components..
A router and a wireless AP. (AP = Access Point).
To use any wireless router as a AP you simply bypass or turn off the router..
In an Apple router this is called Bridge mode..
In many routers it is known as AP or WAP mode.
But often they do not have the option..
Set it up manually.. we call this WAN bypass as it will bypass the router.
So what you do is open your wireless router setup page in your browser.. go to the LAN setup page.
You need to do two things.
1. Turn off the dhcp server.
2. Set the LAN IP to match the main router..
For instance if your plug it into your apple router and it is at the default IP.. 10.0.1.1 then set the Linksys to 10.0.1.254
The Linksys is then updated.. Plug the ethernet cable from LAN port apple router to LAN port WRT120 (not WAN)
Now with a computer plugged into the apple router or into the Linksys .. by ethernet.. open the IP address you just set.. go to the wireless tab in the setup and give the wireless SSID a suitable name for your other (non-apple) products.. voila.. you have now turned a wireless router into an AP.

For a forgotten password: go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Whoever you spoke to was wrong or misunderstood the question. The iPad is most definitely carrier-specific when it comes to Verizon vs. AT&T. The Verizon model is specific to the CDMA network Verizon uses, and will work with only Verizon. The AT&T model is a GSM, technology used by many carriers around the world, so in that sense the "AT&T" model is not carrier-specific. A Verizon model will not work with AT&T and vice-versa, so you do need to have the iPad model for the carrier you wish to use.
I believe the Verizon model will say either "Verizon" or "CDMA" on the box, so if yours doesn't, you probably have the GSM/AT&T model, but I'm not certain. Perhaps someone else here can confirm.

Everything on my macbook 5.1 was erased and then the person who erased it could not find start up disc to reinstall. i called apple and gave them the serial number and they sent me leopard os 10.5 which is what originally came with the computer. not work

(they told me to do this) i can hear the disc turning but alls i get is blank screen then it shuts down, and restarts. nothing ever shows up on the screen. did i get a wrong disc? should there be something different than just the mac os x leopard 10.5 to get this computer to work again?? thanks for your help!

It means what it says. The "computer person" formatted it wrongly/ unsuitably. it needs to be formatted again.

It seems ePrint is no longer available and now forced to use HP Connect. I am not seeing the option to print in black and white. Printing email messages in color is a waste of ink. Any help would be appreciated.

I was using ePrint however that is auto-directing me to HPConnected and I no longer have the option to change the printing options to Black and White or Color. This is a recent change for me.

That's a really overly simplistic answer to your problem. Re-installing OS X doesn't always fix every problem. Yes, it might in your case, but it might not. Are you still under warranty? Either way, I'd take it into your local Apple Store and show them the problem and let them fix it. If the system has to be installed anew, so be it. But rule out other problems first.
Before you do anything, make sure that you have a back-up of your data, applications, etc. If you don't already have a back-up scheme, get an external hard drive and use Time Machine to back up your computer. Then take it into the Apple Store.
