Can't Print in iPhoto 6.0.5

I installed iLife '06 then ran Software Update to get to iPhoto 6.0.5. Now I can't print anything in iPhoto. It displays the message "No pages from the document were selected to be printed." I HAVE selected a photo, set up the page size, etc. but nothing will print, no matter what size. Can anyone help?
iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Further to my last post, and with a red face, I tried several cropped photos with iPhoto 6.0.6.
I went to "Print" dialog, and it said "The selected print size will not fit on current paper size" when "Standard Print" is selected. If I go ahead, Duh, and try to print the "no selection" msg appears.
When I switch to "Full Page", then the photo appears and it will print. Amazing!
Perhaps I never tried to print cropped photos before.
I had tried to look up "Full Page", etc. in the "Help" file. However, there was no info on the options involved.
I suppose it explains all this somewhere in things I never read and "simply" plow through until everything seems to work again
Sorry for confusion.

I can't print from iPhoto on my new Epson XP820 printer.  I can print from other applications, like Word or Mail.  Any suggestions?

Did you check software update or App Store to see if the printer is among
those Epson models who may have an update download available now?
Of course, some of these printers, even though wi-fi, may require the wire
to set them up for first-use, to be identified. Both my Epsons appear twice,
for wi-fi and again with USB. So I named each appearance, different. So it
is possible to tell in more than one way, which setup that was selected. A few
features do not correctly work in instances where drivers differ.
The latest Epson update helped my newer computer connect to oldest Epson.
Even though a 1.3GB huge Epson drivers file did not help, & OS X didn't see it.
Hopefully the they included an adequate quick-setup guide, though that may
have been for Mavericks, etc. Yet your iPhoto issue may be something else.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Can't Print From iPhoto 8 to Color LaserJet

I recently purchased an iMac with iPhoto 8 installed. This is the cleanest, easiest-to-use version of iPhoto yet!
Except for a huge problem: I cannot print from iPhoto to my HP Color LaserJet 4650. I can print to that printer from all other applications, including photos in Photoshop and Preview. But when I try to print from iPhoto, I get a message on my printer saying "insufficient memory," which is not true. There is enough printer memory (160 mb) to handle almost any print job I can throw at it. Also, others can print photos from their older versions of iPhoto to the same printer without issues.
I have called HP, who say there are no known issues with their printers and iPhoto 8. I have also trashed the iPhoto preferences with no luck. Even my outside tech guy is stumped. For the time being, I can work around by exporting photos to the desktop and printing in Photoshop or Preview, but I would like to print directly from iPhoto. Any advice?

    Scott:
Thanks for the direction. Tom Rice's link took me to a site where I downloaded some scripts and a driver. After selecting the driver for my HPCLJ4650 everything worked just fine. I don't know why Apple and/or HP are not aware of the problem, but when I read the discussion link you sent me, it sounds like there are a lot of users out there having the same problems with their HP printers and iPhoto '08.
    Anyway, I appreciate the help!

  • Can't print from Iphoto 7.1.2

When I select a photo and try to print (from file/print) I get an error message:
"No available themes. There are no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed this feature will be unavailable".
When I try to print from the icon on the iphoto toolbar it just blinks when I click on it and I don't even get the error message.
    I have tried the following:
    Deleted and trashed my user/library/preferences/iphotoplist.
Trashed my Canon Pixma ip4000 printer application software and reinstalled the latest Canon OS X software and driver.
Downloaded Iphoto 7.1.2 from Apple and reinstalled - ( I did not not trash the old iphoto application because I was worried about losing my library)
Downloaded ilife support 8.2 from Apple and installed.
I reran my permissions on Apple Disk Utility
I recently downloaded and installed iphoto Library manager because I thought it looked pretty neat. I looked all thru it and it doesn't seem to have any features that deal with printing.
I recently upgraded from a G4 Mirrordoor to a G5. I transferred all the files from the old computer to the new via my router and file sharing in the target mode. Everything else seems to work fine. My printer works fine on all other applications
I am just about out of gas.
    Can you suggest something?
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Old Toad:
I still am having problems printing. I spoke way too soon.
When I was using iphoto 06 I had no problems. After upgrading to iphoto 08, I found I can't print in the contact mode. I can print single pic's but the minute I try to do more then that it totally screws up.
I did everything you suggested (two times!). Trashed everything I could find with Iphoto on it. Very carefully reloaded 08 from my 08 disc and upgraded to 7.1.2. I am now able to print. Yea!
Is there some way I can send you an Email with some screen shot attachments?
I can go thru a long explanation of my problem but if I could attach some screen shots to an Email I think you could maybe tell me whats wrong.
I tried to dump the whole iphoto 08 program and go back to 06 but it wouldn't let me because my 06 library is now all screwed up with 08. What a mistake "upgrading" to 08).
I hate to bother you with this mess but I am just dead in the water.
Anyway, if you can bear with me... heres my sad story.
    1. I load iphoto 08 and select 12 JPG photos to print. ( I have a need to print 8, 10 or 12 photos on a single page).
    2. I click on print and the print screen drops down. I only have five themes to select from (Standard, Contact Sheet, Simple Border, Simple Mat and Double Mat). I select Contact Sheet. The rest of the setup screen shows details about my Canon ip4000 printer, photo paper and US letter.
    3. I click on Customize and select Settings to remove some unneeded titles from my pic's. I then select 3 columns to give me all 12 photos on a single page. On the same screen I then click on Print Settings and a box pops up so I can select select paper size. I use Credit Card 2.13 x 3.39 borderless. This what I used before under iphoto 06 and it worked fine. I click OK and at this point everything looks fine on the screen. I am ready to print.
    4. In the tool bar, I click print. A print bar drops down and I click on Preview just to take a look. At that point the whole screen locks up and I get a double box - one overlaying the other. The lower box says " Processing page 1". The second box is blank with the word OK in Apple pulsating blue.
    5. If I click the OK (still in Preview mode) I get some garbage stating " Preview of Untitled .pdf (page 1)" and I am frozen dead.
    6. If you go back to step 4 and I just skip the Preview step and just click on print I get the double box routine again and If I click on the OK then thats what iphoto prints --- a white box with the word OK in blue.
    7. I tried this exact same approach on my other G4 with Tiger, iphoto 08 and a HP Deskjet 3650 printer. With exception of a few different words because of the Canon vs. HP printer software I got the same result.
As I said, I could show you all of this with some screen shots but I guess by now you have got the idea. I had none of these problems with iphoto 06! A real waste of $75.
I am so **** frustrated as I have spent many hours trying to figure this thing out. I have deleted and reloaded many times. I have read and reread the so called Help menus.
My gut feeling is that iphoto does not get along with Preview. At first I thought it was Canon software ( which I reloaded from their website) but the same thing happened with HP software. Or maybe iphoto 08 is just a piece of crap like so many Apple users are posting.
Am I the only nut with this problem with 08?.
I really appreciate your wading thru all of this and I sure would like some advice. Especially how to get back to iphoto 06 and just forget about 08.
At this point, I don't think iphoto 08 is ever going to work.
    Thanks again,
    Phil

  • Can't print from iPhoto. I have the :"There were no themes located"

I've read other threads. I have the Themes folders in both the HD and User folders. I tried moving from the User folder to the HD folder and rebooting. I cannot however, reinstall from the disk onto my iMac , because I installed the application from one of the two MacBooks I bought last year.
Could there be a problem with the Themes folders? I see similar files - one ending in -V.IPBookTheme and the other ending .IPBookTheme. Just trying to think of something. Any tips would be appreciated.
I don't imagine I could reinstall iPhoto 7 at this point could I? Would my photos transfer backwards okay from iPhoto 8 to 7?
I actually dislike Events so much that it might be worth it. But for now I would settle for printing from iPhoto. Thanks for any help.

because I installed the application from one of the two MacBooks I bought last year.
That is in violation of the Apple licensing agreement.
"*2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions*. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single computer at a time. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time. "
You'll have to buy a copy of iLife for you computer and do a fresh install.
An iPhoto 08 (also known as iPhoto 7) library is not compatible with iPhoto 6. You will have to start over with iPhoto 6 by creating a new V6 library and importing just the Originals folder from the V7 library.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • I can't print from iPhoto. Error message says no themes. This is a recent problem.

A recent error message says I can't print because I have no themes available. What is a theme and why do I need it. I just want to print. I now have to go to Preview to print my photos.

The iPhoto themes are located in the HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder. Verify that the iPhoto folder contains these items:
If you do have these items in the iPhoto folder repair disk permissions with Disk Utility and try iPhoto again.
If that fails then reapply the iPhoto 9.3 updater and try once again.  You are running 9.3, right?

  • Can't print outta iphoto

For some reason when a I select a couple of pictures or a picure to print in iPhoto the pinwheel shows up for two seconds, disapears and nothing else happens. Another window does not show up for me to select attributes, layout, picture quality etc....help! Iv'e printed before I don't know what happened. I have a Cannon S900 printer. I can print from all other applications.

    suneeone2:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Can you print from other applications OK? Try the following;
1 - repair disk permissions with Disk Utility.,
2 -download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. Disk Utility only works on applications and system files, not on user files..
3 - remove and reinstall the Canon printer driver. I'd also check Canon's site to see if there's a newer version out for your printer.
    Now try to print again.
    Do you Twango?

  • Can't print in iPhoto. Message says no available themes

Trying to print i iphoto when no themes available comes up.No idea what to do...

You'll have to resintall iPhoto.  If you Mac came with Lion or later preinstalled go to the App Store, sign in with the Apple ID and password used to purchase or register the iMac, go to Purchases and redownload and install iPhoto.
If your Mac came with Snow Leopard or earlier preinstalled use the disks that came with your Mac or an iLife3 to reinstall iPhoto and then update thru Software Updater.

  • I can't print from iPhoto 8.1 - no themes.

I've looked for the iPhoto folder under Library/Application Support, but it doesn't even exist.  So I can't even look for the themes that are supposed to be there.  This is the same situation under HD and under my user.  I tried to repair permissions, but that didn't work.  I tried deleting iPhoto and re-installing it, but that didn't work.  Did I get a bad version of iLife 2009?  Because it's been this way since I upgraded to that version (with also the upgrade to snow Leopard) just over a year ago.  I just haven't ever made an attempt to deal with it until now.  I ususally print my pics at Costco, but I just want to print one pic and can't without having to insert it into a Word document and print it that way.  I'm not a fan of that method when the program used to work previously.

You'll have to reinstall iPhoto to get the themes back. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally.

  • Can't Print in iPhoto '08!

I have read another topic on this and can't understand a bit. I am looking for someone who has fixed this problem to help WALK me thru it. I am SO terrified of losing pictures that I'm at a loss right now. I am running Mac OS X (10.5.1) and using an Epson RX595 photo printer. I can print anything and everything else just NOT anything in iPhoto. Can anyone please help me? Thanks so much!!!!

When you press print the first window is pretty basic.
When you select print on that the next window should have an advanced option.
Click that and see if any of the options in the 3rd dropdown box allow you to specify the 'paper tray'.
    AC "
In this new windaow, click "advanced", go to "paper type/quality" and choose " best" and a photo paper. Then you will be able to choose a paper source (photo tray).
Once you have these settings, under presets do "save as", and you can choose the preset instead of going to advanced.
If you have the latest software and drivers downloaded from HP, this will work.

  • Can I print an iPhoto 6 calendar at the larger 13 x 10.4 size?

I just finished making a calendar in iPhoto 6, thinking it would be 13 x 10.4 but now find that it will be 10 x 8. Since the proportions are the same, can I have the calendar printed at the larger size? Or if not, will the calendar become larger if I upgrade to iPhoto 9?

    ImagineThat:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There is a 3rd party application, pdf-RecoverPro, that will let you lock the file to printing, changing, etc. You set two passwords, one to let the user view it and one to unlock the restricted features. Just provide the first password and send the file. You can try the demo version. It just saves one page in demo mode.

  • I can't print with iPhoto correctly because the reglages can't be changed

My printer is Epson Stylus phot RX620. I am desapointed because the relages of the printer can't be changed. I can't type the paper and the results of the print is not correct. I called Apple but they have no answer. I called Epson and they said all the drivers are correct. If I print something with safari or with mail, I have not problem, I can decide which paper I decide to use to print. Thank you if you have a solution.

    What is "relages"?
This is one of the print setting windows Larry is referring to:
It was the first window after iPhoto's print window. It's for an Epson R280 so shouldn't be too different from that for your printer.

  • Unable to print in iPhoto 06

Hi. I have an iMac 10.4.1 and use an Epson DX4000 printer. Although printing in other applications isn't a problem I can't print from iPhoto. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Has this every worked?
I assume that the print preview show the photo?
while it probably is not the cause, try renewing the iPhoto preference file - A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

How can I print multiple copies of same photo onto one page on iPhoto 9.5.1? I was able to do it on the old iPhoto, but can't seem to be able to do it on the new iPhoto. Grrr...

Photos does the same thing.... Only workaround I can come up with is to create a template in Pages and copy & paste.

    iPhoto printing--
Can you print more than one photo on a single page in iPhoto, as you can in Picasa? Terrible waste of paper and time to do it one at a time!  I 've been away from Macs for several years ( I know, shame on me) but I thought I remembered more printing flexibility.  Help, anyone?

Yes - select the photos and print - select the print size and paper size (be sure they will fit with some small borders) and click customize - in settings select multiple photos per page (the preview will reflect this selection) and print
