Can't print on a printer connected to a pc

the printers in our office network are connected to pc's. i have followed felix's guide, but i still can't print. it says: unable to connect to SAMBA host....
ERROR: connection failed with error
don't know what to do. i have the correct drivers and my computer recognizes the printer.
What is wrong?
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I am having the same problem, my airport express worked fine for over a year as a wireless printer usb hook-up...but now it always says communication error after it starts to send data. I am using a epson 3800 with the newest driver (for leopard) and I have tested to see that the printer works by hooking it directly to the computer with a USB cable. I have also reset the airport express and reconfigured it. I have also switched out the airport express with another one in my house to test to see if it works. The airport express seems fine and will play iTunes remotely....but just will not print.

    Can't Print/Connect from Windows 7 64 bit to Shared PSC 1315 on Windows 7 32bit Machine...
I tried to install driver on connecting PC, i tried to install printer as Local printer with local port - \\WIN7-32bit\HP PSC 1310 Series\ - and  i got access denied, and before i reinstall Windows on 64Bit machine its worked correctly... anyone know how to solve this problem ?

When i connect it on 64 Bit machine printer requesting driver *.inf and not specific file...
i try to install 64bit driver on 32 bit machine in sharing options and they didn't support it...

More than likely, you are receiving the access denied error because there may not be a HomeGroup in place.
To handle networks securely with Windows 7, Microsoft took a different approach.  A HomeGroup essentially creates a trust among all the devices in that home group.  If a device is not in that homegroup, then that system will essentially be denied access.
Click on Install a printer on a home network to get basic steps to install a printer in a network environment.
Click on HomeGroup: recommended links to get more information about Home Groups, including setting one up.

  • Can any printer connect to the airport extreme or do i need a special printer?

can any printer connect to the airport extreme or do i need a special printer?

There are rare exceptions but any USB printer should be able to use its USB printer port. Only the print function of all-in-one a/k/a "multifunction" devices will work with the USB port though.
The Extreme will support any networked (wired or wireless) printer or multifunction device.

  • Can't Print/Connect from Windows 7 to Shared PSC 1315 on XP Machine

I have an HP PSC 1315 connected to a Windows XP (32 bit) machine.  This printer is shared.  I can access it from other XP machines on my home network.  I cannot access it from my Windows 7 (64 bit) machine.  I can see the printer is shared on the machine, but when I double click on it, I get the following error:
"Windows can't find a driver for hp spc 1310 series on the network.  To locate one manually, click OK.  Otherwise, click Cancel and consult your network administrator or the printer manufacturer's website."
So I tried downloading the Windows 7 (64 bit) driver from HP and installed it on my Windows 7 machine:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=al-75052-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&...
At the end of the install, it asks to connect the printer to the computer through USB.  Since I'm not physically connecting the printer to the Windows 7 machine, I check the box that says I can't connect to it right now and proceed to finish.
I then tried to connect to the printer and I get the same error.  I try locating a driver manually.  I point to c:\windows\inf\ with no success (I'm *assuming* the driver info would get installed there, though I don't know what the .inf name is).  Windows says it can't find a suitable driver.  Possibly I should be looking for it elsewhere?
I found some troubleshooting utility on HP's website, but it doesn't give "shared printer over a network" as one of the connection schemes to troubleshoot.
I'm kinda stumped on this one.  Hoping it's going to be something simple I missed.
    Thanks!

Here is a nice explanation of how to share a printer from an XP PC to a Windows 7 PC on a home network.  This should work since the Windows 7 (64-bit) PC can see the Windows XP 32-bit partition.  What you missed was the type of port to use for the networking connection.

  • MFP M127fn connected, test printing OK, can't print from applications

    Hello Everyone!
I have just set up my M127fn via USB on a Windows 8 system. The set up went fine. I have a small stack of test pages from the HP software, but it won't print anything from any applications like MSOffice. The HP diagnostic software (Print and Scan Doctor 4.6)  can communicate with the printer and everything checks out OK.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello!
I have replied twice to your last posting, but have heard no response. Unless a solution can be presented quickly, I fell I must return the product. LPug and play was introduced with Windows 95 and this HP product has not lived up to that 20 year old technological standard. My previous replies are copied below.
    Please respond soon.__________________________________________

    Hello again!
I haven't heard a response to my most recent reply. Is there anything you can suggest before I give up and return this HP product to the store? I would like a quick resolution to this. As an update to my previous email (copied below), printing is no longer working through Adobe Reader.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Does Firefox have some kind of firewall??? Recently I can't print or connect to my work computer remotely. Two things I was always to do in the past.

Recently I can't connect to my work computer remotely and I can't print things even when I am using my desktop which is directly connected to the printer. If I go to Internet Explorer or AOL I have no problems but since I mainly use Firefox this has become a major problem.

I encounter similar problem. My TC detects my OKI printer which is connected to the TC via USB but I can't print unless I connect my printer to the TC via Ethernet. Would anyone know how to solve it. Thanks.

  • My iPhone and my iPad are connected by wi-fi, but I can't print on HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus. On the other hand, I can print over wi-fi from PC. What can I do?

Hallo, thank you for trying to help. Here is my problem:
In the past, the airprint was possible without problems from iPhone 4 and iPad 2. Since today it doesn't work anymore. My iPhone 4 and my iPad 2 is connected by wi-fi and I can serve in the internet. But I can't print on HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus. On the other hand, I can print over wi-fi from PC.
There are low ink-levels and therefore a message comes to indicate this by printing from PC. iPhone and iPad are accepting the print order without any messages after, but does't excecute the print.
    What can I do?

    Hey helmut,
You can also try the ePrint method listed here if you can't get AirPrint working:

The application HP home and biz app is free in the app catalogue!
    Hope this helps.
    I work for HP.

Unfortunately, connecting a non-AirPrint-enabled printer to an AirPort base station's USB port will not make it AirPrint-ready.
You will need to use another solution, like Printopia, to be able to print to this printer from an iOS device.

Well, you could install the drivers to the wireless printer in you other computers.

    check printer sharing.

    1) Connect the printer to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme
    2) Download and install Bonjour Print Services for Windows on the PC

Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no other computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area and is wanting a printer to use occasionally. He doesn't want to deal with a computer and I keep his iPad updated for him at my home.  Please shed some light on this for us PLEASE. Thanks

In that case, it should be possible. I haven't tried this directly, but I believe it should work.
You'll need to get an actual AirPrint compatible Printer.
Check here for a list of Printers you can choose from.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Once you have the compatible printer, using the Hotspot feature from the iPhone he'll have to create the Wifi bubble form the iPhone, and connect the Printer to that Wifi network.
Then connect the iPad to that same Wifi network provided by the iPhone. When all that is done, the printer should appear in any of the Apps that can Print under the Action Arrow button.
For instance in email, pressing the action arrow should show a Print option. In there the printer should appear.
Alternatively you can simply buy a wireless router and setup the network through there even if there is no internet attached.  Connect the wireless printer to the router network, and connect the iPad or iPhone to that same wifi network to print.

    No.
Printopia (running on your Mac) connects the iPad to your printer.

  • How can I print without connection to internet?

My internet connection is very poor. It's often down.
How can I print from mi mobile device to the printer that is wired connected?
With iprint photo nothing was needed.

Hmm this application on the android only requires that your Android device connects to your wifi maybe i can try to provide some clearer information and ill get some information from you as well.
    1. What type of printer do you have?
    2. What type of Android device do you have?
    3. The printer can either be wired or wirelessly connected to the network to use the ePrint home and biz application.
Here are the steps that should apply.
    1. Turn your wifi on you Android device on and make sure its connected to the same network as the printer.
    2. Download and run the Hp ePrint home and biz application.
    3. Complete the registration in the application, it will ask for your personal email address and you will then receive an email with a pin to complete the registration.
    4. Next Either choose Photo Albums or Documents in the Application. Then select a document or photo to print, The next screen should give you a print preview, Select the down arrow and that will take you to the printer options which will have the supported printers in that list to print.
Possible causes why your printer cannot be found include the following:
    The printer is not supported
You are not connected to the  network
You are connected to the wrong  network
    The printer is turned off
The printer is not shared over the  network

How can I print from my IPAD3 to a printer connected to Airport Express? I have a HP printer and I can print from all my Windows PC and iMAC in the house. How can I print from my IPaD?

    You cannot.
The USB port on the AirPort Express allow sharing a printer with Windows and Mac OS X, not with iOS:
"Wireless printing over USB requires a compatible printer and OS X v10.2.7 or later, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7":
    http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/#wireless-printing
"AirPrint-enabled printers  connected using Bluetooth or shared through a USB port of a Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule are not supported":
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
The HP ePrint app also does not provide such functionality:
Can I print from the HP ePrint mobile app using USB or Bluetooth?
No. You can only print directly to supported HP printers on a local wireless network.

You need to turn on Printer Sharing on both the PC and OS X. I can't help you on Vista but in OS X it's System Preferences - Sharing - check the Printer Sharing box.
