Can't Print PDF Consistently from Preview Application

I am running OS 10.3.9 and Preview 2.1.0. I have downloaded a PDF file that has 16 pages. I have tried to print the document to my LaserWriter 16/600PS and HP 2510 PhotoSmart All-in-One printers. I can't get pages to print consistently. If I select "all", I may get only the first page. If I select a specific page, I don't get that page...maybe page 1 or nothing. The printer hangs in the "processing" mode. I also try to print from the "Print Preview" view in Print dialog window (not from the main Preview window), but can't get consistent results. Is this possibly because the PDF was an Adobe Acrobat file and Preview doesn't handle the pagination correctly when it was opened? I don't want to have to use Acrobat Reader if I don't have to.

when one get a mac and open a pdf file the build in program called preview opens it
most of us stick with preview because acrobat reader is a rather dangerous program to install

if you type preview in spotlight(the icon which looks like a spyglass) or in the launch's seach you can get to the preview app

I can't print pdf files from my macbook air

Hi, I am unable to print pdf files from the internet using my macbook air - I have the latest Adobe Reader, but still no help.....thoughts??

Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Printing PDF brochure from Preview and only graphics print, no text

Spent 30 minutes on the phone with Lexmark. They said with Windows, you would select "Print as Image" under the advanced printing dialogue. I don't see anything like this in MacOS. If I save the PDF as a PNG, then open the PNG in Preview, it prints fine.

I also had this "no text"-problem with a Lexmark C530dn when printing some PDFs from Preview on 10.5.2. The problematic PDFs all were datasheets and papers I downloaded from sources like SAP. I installed the newest version (2.0) of the C530 printer driver, but it did not help.
Using "Generic Postscript Printer" works, but I loose duplex printing, for example. But printing the documents from Adobe Reader 8.1.2 works, too, and I can use the Lexmark driver and have duplex printing etc.

Can't print pdf's in Preview

My son is having trouble printing an email attachment in Preview, the pages print blank. He has an 2008 15" Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. I am trying to help him over the phone. Attachment pops up as PDF in Preview, he hits file, print and the print drop down shows the page but when he hits print, blank pages print.

I've been having a similar problem with Safari pdf files despite downloading the latest Adobe Reader XI.
I would constantly get messages - There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired. And I would get a blank page when I tried to print the pdf if I tried printing from the Safari web page using File - Print from the top toolbar on my laptop.
If you're printing pdfs from Safari use the action icons on the grey lozenge that's positooned just below centre of the webpage.
Without downloading the pdf, print the pdf file direct from the Safari page using the Print icon on the above grey lozenge.
Saving the pdf by using the Save icon from this same grey lozenge on the Safari page you can open and print this pdf version from your desktop.
I've tested it with a couple of different pdf files and these methods work using the grey lozenge icons. But the same pdfs files don't work using File - Save As on the Menu Bar at the top of the screen.

Can't print PDF's from outlook web access

When I open a pdf from outlook web access the pdf opens in a new tab just fine. When I try to print from that tab it doesn't print. The printing dialog box doesn't come up, nothing happens. I can save the pdf and print it fine. I'm using internet explorer 9 and adobe 9. The operating system is windows 7, I've also tried this on the windows server 2008r2. I've tried it using adobe reader free version and get the same problem.

Can't print PDF directly from safari!!

When a PDF opens in safari with Adobe Acrobat 7.0. I can't print it off. It will only print a page with the URL of the PDF file on it. I have to physically save the file, then open it in Adobe or Preview to print it.
Just updated to leopard.
Also, the little printing window that usually pops up on the dock when you print something and then quits itself after printing doesn't quit itself anymore. I have to actually select it and quit it myself. It's very annoying.

Can you print pdf files from an iPhone

I'm trying to print a pdf attachment from an email directly from my iPhone. Is this possible? Do I need any special cables.

Any attachments you get via email on your iPhone will need to be 1. Forwarded to your email on your PC/Mac and or 2. Accessed from your PC/Mac
If you use an IMAP account then your email program should be able to access the same emails without any issues.
If your using a POP account. You can try and launch your email app and hope it downloads email your iPhone got. If it does not you need to forward that email to yourself again or maybe an alternative email address you can access on the PC/Mac
Once you have access to that email. Simply open it up in any program that can access the attachment. And use the programs print feature.

I've annotated a bunch of PDFs in preview, but I would like to print them out without any annotations. Is this possible?

Print the originals, sans markup. Or, if you didn't save them with a different name, remove the annotations from a copy, and then print.

Can't print PDF's from new printer Brother HL-L2340DW

Installed new wireless Brother printer today. Can print word, excel, as well as webpages just fine, but cannot get any PDF's to print. I open these docs in Adobe Reader. Doesn't matter whether I have them downloaded from the web, or saved on my pc. Doesn't say it's spooling or printing at all. Doesn't give an error message either. Brother tech support was no help - said problem is with Adobe. Please help?

Client can't print PDFs exported from InDesign CS5.5

They say that the 'flattening' fluctuates up and down then hangs. Exporting Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4) Can someone please advise?

Try exportiing to Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3) that should flatten before sending.
Seems like it's trying to flatten on output and is hanging. If you do PDF 1.3 then it will already be flattened and might stop the error.

I can't print PDF files from the latest Firefox; asks which program created the files. None of the options listed will print the files, such as IRS forms. Running Mac OS 10.6.8.

I run Mac OS 10.6.8.
When I try to print a PDT file, such as an IRS form, Firefox opens a small dialog box asking what program was used to create the file I wish to print.No matter which of the selections I choose, the file will not print.
I have the latest Adobe Reader installed.
Note that these files always open normally in Safari.
