Can't print to hp p1006 laser printer

I just installed an hp p1006 laser printer on my airport extreme network. It installed fine. I sent one job to it and after that I wasn't able to print anything else. I tried re-installing it a number of times. It is recognized in the printer set up utility and in the print dialogue box. The selection box in the set-up utility seems to be greyed out. I set up the hp as a local printer and it prints fine. When I tried to re-install the existing canon mp530 the print set-up can't find it. Am I overlooking something simple?

see response in a related thread, worked well for me
I have solved my issue with airport and printer loss of recognition. Open Airport Utility and install Firmware 7.2.1 over the top of 7.3.2. Firmware versions are in a simple drop down list. Steps are: 1) Open the 5.3.2 version of Airport Utility 2) Select the Airport Extreme icon in the picture list on the left 3) Click Manual Set-Up button at the bottom 4) Menu "Base Station" -> "Upload Firmware"
5) Select Firmware 7.2.1 from the dropdown list.

  • SAP Printer setup for Color Laser printer

    Hi,
Currently i have just setup a printer in SAP successfully.
But as this printer is a color laser printer, the printouts are in colors.
Is there any settings which i can set it to monochrome?
    Thanks

    Chong,
    Could you check this?
Run SPAD transaction. Enter your Output device name(Printer name) and hit enter.
Under the 'Output Attributes' tab , see if the checkbox 'Color printer' is checked.
If checked, uncheck it and try printing.

  • I want to use my jetpack 890L as a wireless router to allow wireless printing with a canon laser printer. Is this possible, and does the jetpack support WPS?

I want to use my jetpack 890L as a wireless router to enable wireless printing with a canon laser printer. Is this possible, and does the jetpack support WPS?

I’ve used several wireless printers with a 4510 and 5510 Jetpack and they all print just fine. The MHS890L does not support WPS. The WPS Wikipedia article briefly addresses the reason why you should not use WPS.  If you’re having trouble setting up your printer the manufacturer has a toll free support line to help you. Your Jetpack has the Wi-Fi Password on the bottom, under the battery, and or in the LED display.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.2, I cannot print to my Samsung laser printer ML 2525w?  How can I get this set up to print?

After upgrading to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on my iMac, I cannot print to my Samsung B&W Laser printer ML 2525W either by USB or wireless.    Any help on how to setup or reconfigure would be apprecaited.
I either print blank pages or prints one time then goes off line, or spits out a bunch of blank paper, etc.  Have gone through all the standard fixes, reboot, reset , reload driver, etc.

From the link to the Thread you provided, I worked through the one message procedures that were listed.
For ease of reference, I have copied them and printed them below.  This was an old thread but the guidance still works with no firmware upgrade required.
I would stress that you MUST delete any and all files relating to USB connection of the printer to the MAC, including all print drivers (from both Apple and Samsung either from CD or web downloads) and all print queues, etc.  I was only able to get the printer to properly hand shake with my Mac by setting it up wirelessly after all old files were deleted with hard power off reboots on both the Mac and Printer.
I hope that someone from Apple will pass this note along to their programing department because there is some type of incompatibility in the new ML OS and the Samsung ML2525w print dirvers used for a cable (USB) type connection.  Apple needs to be talking to Samsung to get the USB issue resolved.  I am going to post this same message on the Samsung site to see if someone from there will contact Apple to work together on a final solution for USB connectivity.
Here is the steps I followed to get my ML2525w to work in the wireless mode.  Again, I cannot stress the need to clean out all the old files (drivers, print queues, etc. - everything) before setting up wirelessly.
As a note, I ran this printer with Lion for almost 2 years and it always worked fine (both wireless and USB).  From other comments on the thread, users were good with this printer using Lep. and Snow Lep also. - - no issues from either a USB connection or wireless until Mountain Lion.
Before the fix, I was experiencing many of the same issues as described on user chat threads, printer going offline after a print job.  1st page sometimes printing but all the rest of the pages were garbage.  No printing at all. Printer just running a bunch of blank pages out. etc.
I run an iMAC 27" desktop with the ML OS upgrade just installed from Lion.
"I've just installed one of these printers for my parents.
First of all, don't waste your time connecting the ML-2525W as a USB printer. The printer will go offline after each print job. It's hopeless, at least (I assume) until Samsung gets around to publicly releasing a firmware update.
Instead, you have to use the ML-2525W as a wireless printer. In that mode, it works fine.
    This is what I did:
    (1) First, if you have already attempted to install the Samsung driver software from the included CD-ROM, uninstall it. Get the uninstaller from the Samsung support site:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/ML-2525W
Download the "Printer Driver (ver. 4.0)" ZIP file. It unzips to a folder that contains the uninstaller. Likewise, download the "Smart Panel Driver" ZIP file and uninstall the Smart Panel software.
    (2) Disconnect the USB cable from the printer, if it is connected. Pull the power plug on the printer and power cycle it.
    (3) Restart your Mac.
    (4) Go to the "Printer Driver (ver. 4.0)" folder that you previously unzipped. Inside it is a folder named "WirelessSetting". Open the folder and run the "Wireless Setting.app".
    (5) The application will ask you to connect the USB cable to the printer. Do so, and the Mac should be able to communicate with the printer to perform the wireless setup.
    (6) The application will show you a list of wireless networks. One of them is the wireless interface in the printer (ad-hoc). You can ignore that unless you intend to use the printer without connecting to another wireless network. In my case, I selected the wireless network in my parents' home (infrastructure) and entered the security passphrase. The application then configured the wireless interface in the ML-2525W to connect to the home network.
    (7) The Wireless Setting application will then tell you to disconnect the USB cable.
    (8) After finishing the Wireless Setting application, go to Word, Textedit, Pages, or Safari, and select a file or page to print. In the print dialog window, you should see the ML-2525W as a "Nearby Printer" (i.e. via Bonjour). Select the ML-2525W, and your Mac will automatically connect to Apple's Software Update and download the latest Samsung driver. If for any reason the Software Update download does not succeed, you can manually download and install the Apple driver using the previously published link in this discussion.
    (9) After that, you should be able to print to the ML-2525W whenever you want, without the printer going offline.
    (10) If you have a USB printer queue still in your Print & Fax Preferences (from your previous unsuccessful attempt to connect via USB), you can delete it. You only need to keep the Bonjour queue.
Obviously YMMV, but in my case this procedure got the printer working reliably without the need for a firmware update."

  • Unable to print PDF reports on laser printer?

    Hi
Our requirement is to print the PDF reports directly on the laser printer after submitting through concurrent requests. We have configured the local printer attached to the user, installed printer as network printer on IBM AIX server and configured the printer configuration in ERP instance. Whenever, we print garbage is printing. Then came across this metalink document (How To Print XML Publisher PDF Reports From The Concurrent Manager [ID 338990.1]). According this document, i have downloaded PDF converter 'xpdf' through this link http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf.
As far as i know, extracting the xpdf.tar file itself will install this software. Modified and un-commented this line pasta_pdf.cfg file with 'preprocess=pdftops {infile} {outfile}' command. Still the printer is printing garbage.
How to verify that XPDF is installed properly or not?
    Regards

I think that means tool is either not installed or not in path:-
"The Xpdf language support packages include CMap files, text encodings, and various other configuration information necessary or useful for specific character sets. (They do not include any fonts.) Any or all of these can be installed by simply unpacking the tar file and adding a few lines to your xpdfrc configuration file (see the README file inside each package for details).
have you seen what needs to be changed in xpdfrc configuration file?
    Thanks,
    JD

  • I'd like to buy an all-one print, scan, fax wireless laser printer for my Mac.  Any suggestions?

Any suggestions for a laser all-one, wireless, print, scan, fax printer for my Mac Air?
    Suggestions gratefully accepted.

Yes printers (their drivers mostly) can become obsolete. Laser printers are so inexpensive I would lean that direction (often new ink cost more than a new printer). That being said when you combine functions you make sacrifices. A laser printer/fax would be, in my opinion, the way to go. If you need a scanner I would make it separate.
I have had good luck with HP - the school district I worked for also used (standardized) to HP. At times Epson has worked well with Mac's - and then there are other times. I think as long as you stay with a top tier brand (look at what Apple is bundling with their new sales) you'll be all right.
Of course you budget, the number of times you expect to scan, fax and print should drive the decision.
I have a ~$100 Brother Laser Printer networked through my Mac Pro (it prints wirelessly) and has done so for going on 10 years. I have an HP Photosmart 6800 about the same age. As you can tell I'm not a fan of AIO's.

    Thanks for your reply.
I should have mentioned I am using Windows XP.
No, there are no eps graphics in the document.
Photoshop CS5 prints with no problems. I did a work-around by making a PDF and printing from that.
As I mentioned there was no problem printing from the CS4 version.
This may be a similar problem to the TWAIN problem in CS4.
    Again Thanks,

  • Clear printout when printing in dot-matrix printer but not in laser printer

    Hi Experts,
When I am printing the output for change outbound delivery, output is clear in dot matrix printer like GI and and values are clearly getting printed, but when I use Laser printer no GI and details are fetched?
Kindly revert on this please, asap.
    Thanks

    Hi Amiya,
you need to check the paperformat which is used. I'm pretty sure that there is a wrong paperformat selected. The supported paperformats are published in the official documentation of the printer-model.

  • How i can install a samsumg ml-1430 laser printer?

In te new lion, i can't install my samsung laser ML-1430 printer, please help me.
    thanks

The only drivers available from Samsung are PPC.
Install the three packages from here:
    http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosxsamsung -gdi
That'll add unofficial support for your printer.  Then add it again from the list.

  • Can anyone recommend a good color laser printer for under $500?

We have a small business that needs one. We’ve been using an Okidata C5300 for the last 6 years and it’s worked really well, but starting to have some issues with it, more so after Snow Leopard. I’m thinking it may be time to switch to a more modern design and driver. We need something that prints reasonably quickly, but doesn’t have to be a speed demon. Would like the cost of toner to be relatively reasonable, it’s amazing how that stuff adds up.
    Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

Based on your needs I think the OJ Pro series would work well.
It prints at about 35 PPM so 150 -200 pages a day wouldn't be much work for it at all.
The model I specified can connect via USB, Wi-Fi or Ethernet so you can easily connect to your network. It also does all of the functions over the LAN meaning print, scan, copy and fax and will do two kinds of jobs simultaneously. For example if user A is printing, user B can be scanning (or faxing or copying) at the same time.
Do the arithmatic on it. Here is a web page HP supplies that helps you calculate the cost per page based on your needs. The URL for that is: http://h10060.www1.hp.com/pageyield/en-019/yieldSearch.html?cCode=us
It also does auto duplexing printing, scanning & copying.
It was designed specifically for people with needs similar to yours. There is a myth that Lasers are cheaper than Inkjet based on very old information.
BTW I don't work for HP or sell HP products I'm just a satisfied end user. I'd recommend reading the reviews, looks like customers really like it.

  • Inspiron 1505 can't connect to HP 1320 laser printer through Airport Expres

    I need help!
I've gone through all the articles that I can find, and I still can't get my new Dell 1505 Laptop to print on my HP 1320 which is connected to my airport express. Both my Macs are fine with it. And the PC can connect to the internet via the airport.
I followed the instructions just posted on how to connect to Windows XP (which is the operating system of the PC I just bought) but even though I follow all the instructions, when it gets to printing a test page it won't work! The "wizard" spits me into the troubleshooting forum which of course helps me not.
What can I try next? Please help!

    Welcome to the discussions.
Have a look at iFelix's link, it should solve your problems.

  • Printing to a Xerox laser printer via OS9 and airport: why no work?

My powerbook runs OSX 10.3.9. I have a Belkin wireless router and use Airport to print to the Xerox without any problems. The Xerox has its own IP address, as required by the Belkin router.
When I boot up Classic, however, Classic can't find the Xerox; it never shows up in the Chooser (Laserwriter 8) unless I a) connect an Ethernet cable from the Powerbook to the Belkin router, and b) reboot Classic. If I do that, the Xerox appears in the chooser and I can print to it from within OS9.
What does it take to configure OS9 to recognize the fact that my Mac's underlying OSX is connected via Airport to my router and printer, so I don't have to constantly switch back and forth from cable to airport whenever I run OS9? The OS9 Apple System Profiler says Open Transport, Appletalk and TCP/IP are installed. Under Network overview it says Ethernet PCI Slot: link-n/a; speed-n/a; duplex-n/a; It also says default Appletalk zone is Not Available and active network port(s) is Ethernet PCI Slot [1]...Not sure what all this signifies. Any ideas?

The Xerox N2125 printer is discontinued by Xerox and no longer supported. My general experience with this printer was that it was a constant source of problems, networkingwise. I always wished I had purchased a HP printer instead. I would never buy another Xerox printer for my Mac.

  • Samsung laser printer can't print via Airport

I can no longer get my Samsung laser printer (ML-1210) to print via my Airport Extreme Base Station network. All I get is the Printer Center telling me that it can't find the printer. Prior to OS X 10.4.4 and Airport Firmware update 5.7 no problems, after OS X 10.4.4 and Airport Firmware update 5.7 some types of documents (.pdf) would print sometime and some types (.rtd) wouldn't print at all. After OS X 10.4.5 nothing prints.
So far a direct USB connection seems to print OK, as far as regular text files (Rich, and Plain) are concerned.

I tried so many things I'm dizzy. Nothing done to the computer, not even clean installing OS 10.4 on an external HD and booting from that worked. What seems to have finally worked (????) was reverting the AEBS Firmware version down to version 5.5.1.
Since I print so infrequently I'm not going to say it's all OK until I do some more testing/printing.
In the mean time if anyone can give me an specific idea why this conflict may be happening and what else I can do to fix it without running my AEBS with older Firmware I would be grateful.
The latest driver for Samaung ML-1210 is a couple of years old and I think it is a proprietary code (not something standard like PostScript).
I'm not sure if it's only the AEBS Firmware or a combination of conflicts between the "OS Version-Printer Driver-AEBS Firmware".
    Thanks.

  • Cheap SL compatible mono laser printer

Being tired of the HP1022 saga I am looking for a cheap monochrome laser printer that works with snow leopard. Does anyone have any suggestions ? USB will do for home use but a network option for desktop use at work would also be handy.
    Thanks - Michael

I have two HP LaserJet P1006 Printers which can be found on sale at various times for $99. They have a very small foot print for a monochrome laser printer, an important consideration for me since one sits on a small shelf and the other on a small antique desk.
They run fine with Snow Leopard and both have been problem free.
