Can't print to Ricoh 3228c since Mountain lion upgrade
I am new to Mac. I have an office network Ricoh 3228c printer that I am unable to print to since the Mountain Liion upgrade.
I don't know about your Preview problem and I am interested to see responses about it.
When you say no iPhoto in Finder. Do you mean iPhoto is not listed in the Applications folder? If you do a Finder search on iPhoto is it found. Mine is in "Bobs HD>Applications

Why is Safari so slow after Mountain Lion upgrade?
I have a home Optimum wifi network with Boost connecting to an Airport, with a second Airport extending, and an Airport Express extending. I have a MacBook Pro, last year's model, two iMacs, a year old each, and an older iMac. (If necessary I can get all the models etc, but I just want to express the problem). The two new iMacs and MBP are running Mountain Lion. The older Lion.
Since upgrading to ML my connection speed both over the wifi and directly connecting to the router has dropped from 30-50 down and 5 up to between 1-4 down and 4 up. I have had the cable folks here to test lines. We've swapped out the modem with a new one. I bought a new netgear N600. Everything led to the same result.
Here's the odd part. When restarting the modem and plugging it directly into the powerbook, initial tests show 30-50 up and 5 down. But once you reconnect to wifi, lose speed, the re-connect directly to the modem the slowness persists directly connected to the modem.
So I start suspecting Mountain Lion. BUT the older iMac cannot be upgraded to Mountain and is still running Lion and has the same issue. The equipment is in the same place it's always been. We've added no electronics that would be interfering with signals.
Everyone is stumped and looking suspicously at the computer and OS. Please help. I'm beginning to hear the bing bong bing bong of dial up in my head. -
ATV2 Home Sharing Drops Since Mountain Lion Upgrade
I've found some stuff close to my issue, but really nothing addressing my issue. I have 3 Apple TV 2's. When running my 27" Mac on Lion, everything streamed wonderfully. I have a BIG router capable of handling movie streaming, so the network should NOT be the problem. After installing Mountain Lion, all three of my Apple TV's have been getting dropped from Home Sharing during the middle of a media stream. It happens with regularity with music and movies. Even Netfilx streams drop because Home Sharing drops out. The only way to fix it thus far is to disconnect and re-connect Home Sharing at the 27" Mac, where the streams originate. I'm certain this problem is due to the Mountain Lion upgrade. Is there a fix or do I need to wait for Apple to push something out to us?
For anyone else having the "white screen" issue with youtube, and/or yahoo issue. I seemed to have repaired the issue. I turned the parental controls off for both of my kids accounts, restarted my Mac, and the problem vanished.
I also turned the parental controls back on after this, restarted the computer, and the problem came back.
*** This is 100% a Parental Control/Mountain Lion glitch. Hopefully Apple knows and is working on a solution. The sooner they fix it, the sooner I can turn the parental controls back onto my kids accounts. -
Since Mountain Lion upgrade Word and Acrobat crash on print
I installed Mountain Lion a couple of days ago. Now I'm not able to print from Adobe Acrobat or MS Word. I am using MS Office 2011 and Acrobat Pro 9.5.1. Both programmes crash when I try to print a doc. This never happened before. I can still print from all other programmes as far as I can see. I've tried re-setting the Mac Printer system but that didn't work.
The error messages I get are below - I've just copied the first part of the threads. Any advice greatly appreciated. Currently I'm a bit stuck!

Can't open powerpoint files in keynote since Mountain Lion upgrade
Not having much luck and not sure which forum to post in as this could be a Mountain Lion issue, an iWork issue, but is also an iWork and/or IOS6 issue!
Until last week I had Lion on iMac and IOS5 on iPad. I was able to log on to my work network server (school network, I am a teacher) and open powerpoint, word or excel files in keynote, pages or numbers on my iPad. I then upgraded to IOS6 and now none of the files will open up on my iPad. I get the open in screen when I choose a file to open, then nothing happens.
In the meantime, I upgraded my iMac from Lion to Mountain Lion. Since I was having problems accessing my work files and viewing them on my iPad, I decided to buy Keynote on my iMac in the hope that I could get on with some work on iMac rather than iPad. I logged on to my school server and tried to open a powerpoint file and for some reason it downloads it as a pptx.exe and if I try to open it I get an error message saying "You can't open the application xxx.pptx.exe because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OSX". It shouldn't be a .exe file it should just be a powerpoint file! When I open Keynote and look for available files on my iMac, the file I just downloaded is greyed out.
Hmmmmm so I have an iMac, an iPad, two versions of the Keynote app (plus numbers and pages on the ipad) and can't open any of my files from my school network. That seems a lot of money in one pot Apple and something has changed from Lion to Mountain Lion, and from IOS5 to IOS6 which is preventing me from doing my work. IOS5 allowed me to open any ppt, xls, doc, pptx, xlsx, docx file from my school network so why since upgrading to IOS6 can I suddenly not open them??
Now having forked out for Keynote on my iMac, I have the same problem.
I am able to open attachments in emails and I am able to log on to the school VLE and access and open files. So it is just something to do with opening from the normal file system that I can't do.
I posted in the iPad and iWork forum and had no replies. However, Apple iWork team have contacted me after reading my post re the iPad issue of opening files from my network. I've provided info to them and am waiting for a response, but in the meantime I have now discovered there is also an issue on my iMac. Hopefully they will read this too or someone else will perhaps know what is going on.
It is a worry that I can't do any work using my Apple products seeing as I have bought them! I have had to go back to bringing my windows laptop home everyday which I hope is a short term solution. I have loved the fact that I could access everything on my school network from my iPad in the past and not have to drag a laptop around. I am also worried that this means pupils can't access the files too if they are using Macs, iphones, ipads etc and have upgraded to Mountain Lion or IOS6.
Hoping someone can help
Thanks in advanceThanks for the response but I think you've misunderstood the problem. I can not open any type of PowerPoint file off my server in keynote. This includes .ppt and .pptx files. (Also includes .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx in pages and numbers).
Even if what you said worked it would take forever to go through every file and save them all as ppt 2007. Plus of course, I don't know what files I will need when. There are hundreds of resources I need to access when I'm at home. I need the flexibility to view the files when i need to and on the go. Normally I can download them off my school network on to my iPad in keynote and edit them then I email them back to myself ready to use the next day or to save back to my network. Currently I can not download any Microsoft office file. So I am now forced to have to lug my laptop home everyday, rendering my iPad and iMac useless. I can't pre-empt what I'll need and save it as .ppt as that is completely inflexible and that won't open anyways as this is not an issue with the version of PowerPoint file. This is an issue with how all Microsoft files are downloading from my school network to my iPad and iMac. I want Apple to allow this to work like it used to before the upgrades in operating systems. I wish I hadn't upgraded as it worked perfectly. :( -
Can't open pics in Preview since Mountain Lion install
Hi - I use Preview to open my iPhoto pics and then save them at a smaller resolution for using on my web pages, blogs, emails etc. It's a bit cumbersome but it works. Now, since I upgraded to Mountain Lion on my MacBook (so it will sync documents with my iPad) blow me - I find I can't open files in Preview! I get a box headed 'icloud for Preview.' The text then says: 'You can move your existing documents to icloud by dragging them here from the finder or other apps.' There's then an option to cancel, and a greyed-out box saying Open, but of course I can't open anything! It means, really, that I have lost the ability to edit my pictures with Preview. Is this right? And is there anything I can do about it? Also, I notice my iPhoto icon has disappeared from my Finder so I can't open iPhoto from there. It's all happened since the Mountain Lion install. Can anyone help, please?
I don't know about your Preview problem and I am interested to see responses about it.
When you say no iPhoto in Finder. Do you mean iPhoto is not listed in the Applications folder? If you do a Finder search on iPhoto is it found. Mine is in "Bobs HD>Applications -
I can't stop Calendar from starting at start-up since Mountain Lion upgrade.
I upgraded to Mountain Lion a few days ago and since then my Calendar app starts up whenever I start my MBP.
I have checkec my system preferences for the account login applications, and it's not checked. I also check the Calendar app settings and it doesn't say to automatically start up anywhere.
Is this a new feature of this OS? how can I change this?
Thanks!Nope.
The problem is this: applications that are running (e.g. chrome, spotify) start up again after restarting the macbook even though I unchecked the box to 'reopen windows at startup'. Furthermore, the Calendar application starts automatically at startup even if this wasn't open when the macbook was shut down.
So, 1) running apps restart no matter the startup settings I use, and 2) the Calendar app (this one only) starts at startup even if it's not running at shutdown.
Other suggestions? -
Can't print from InDesign CS5 under Mountain Lion
After installing MacOS 10.8 InDesign crashes when I try to open the printer configuration in the printing menu. Acrobat crashes immediately when I want to open the print menu. Photoshop prints fine and PDF export in ID also works as well as printing without changing the former printing settings.
In an older discussion I found the hint to delete some language folders in the PPD ressources folder to solve the same problem in CS3 and 4 with Lion. I tried that to but it won't work.
Any ideas? Thanks in advanceas well as printing without changing the former printing settings.
If changing the print settings crashes ID I wonder if you need to delete and reinstall your printers? Testing CS3 I wasn't able to even open the Print dialog without crashing, so deleteing the foriegn language PPDs worked
By default Mountain Lion hides the user Library (you can't see user/Library/Printers). You can get to it via Go>Go to Folder and typing ~/Library -
Lexmark S605 printer wont work since Mountain Lion upgrade
Have Lexmark S605 which worked fine on Snow Leopard, upgraded to ML and suddently will not work.
States "comms probs"; "missing software"
Downloaded latest drivers from Lexmark & Apple sites today but no improvment, spoken to Lexmark & Apple cust services but no use (other than uninstall & reinstall). Impacting wireless & USB printing.
Bizarrely, managed to print from cloud AFTER taking latest 10 8 3 compatible driver (?) but cant print direct from iMac.
Help or suggestions before I bounce said kit off the walls!

My lexmark S605 printer won't work -
This may be the same issue as some other discussions but I have a few different circumstances. I upgraded to Mountain Lion a few weeks ago and all seemed to be ok. Then I got an upgrade notice for Itunes last week and installed the update. Since then My mac started freezing after coming out of sleep mode. The mouse was active but when i selected programs from the dock the icons would just bounce and nothing would open. The only way to revive it was to do a restart with the power button. Then the system would be fine until it went into sleep mode .After reading through several disussions it seems many people are having similar issues with very few fixes to the problem. I am not very savvy on mac O/S so I am in the dark as to where to begin to troubleshoot this problem. Since the freeze ups always occur after coming out of sleep mode I set my computer to never sleep which has worked to stop the freezing but I am not sure how good it is for my system to be running all the time. I would appreciate any input on this problem. My Imac is a 2008 intel with 3 gig ram
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
Ipad SONOS app not connecting since Mountain Lion upgrade
Hi,
Since upgrading to mountain lion, my sonos system only works from the SONOS application on the mac mini connected to the router to which a SONOS Bridge is hooked, via LAN. All my other SONOS apps (either ipad or macbook air) cannot connect to the SONOS bridge, even after resetting them.
I also had an issue with screensharing between the mac mini and the macbook air (both on Mountain Lion), since upgrading, which was resolved thanks to this forum... and was hoping resolving this would have resolved the SONOS issue as well... not the case.
So anyone with an idea what to do would be welcome! Happy to provide any other information that would be needed to help me out!
Sebastien
P.S. I assume the SONOS system is not the issue, all SONOS apps and firmware are updated to the latest versions, and as mentioned above, I can control the SONOS equipment via the mac mini app... but just that one. Were you running os x 10.6 before the upgrade?
Anyway photoshop cs2 won't work on mountain lion because cs2 is a PowerPC application
and mountain lion can only run intel applications natively like photoshop cs3-cc.
If you were using 10.6, then you were using rossetta, an application that allowed some powerpc programs to run on an intel mac and mountain lion doesn't have rossetta.
The current versions of photoshop available from adobe are photoshop cs6 and photoshop cc, but since cs2 is out
of the upgrade loop now, so you need to either buy the full version of photoshop cs6 or subscribe to photoshop cc. -
I tune page since mountain lion upgrade
Since upgrading to OSX 10.8.2 (mountain lion) i am having difficutly manually syncing my i phone in i tunes. The i tune page will not always show the option of opening my i phone at top rh corner of page (next to i tune store) even if i power down and restart the reopened page will not always show option?
This problem has occured since the latest i tune upgrade, i never had a problem before with previous software/i tune page
Can someone please advise a way to overcome this anoying problem.
Thank you and regardsI have a home Optimum wifi network with Boost connecting to an Airport, with a second Airport extending, and an Airport Express extending.
Problems with iMac since Mountain Lion upgrade
So , several problems that I have experienced since upgrading to Mountain Lion.
1. When I "log off" off my iMac from the top left "apple" symbol, I get the rainbow wheel of death.
2. When accessing YouTube home screen or yahoo in Safari, the page is a white screen. Nothing more, nothing less.
* I have been reading some people saying that this happens to them too, but only when using an account with parental controls.
3. Hard drive "grinds" incessantly.
* I have never even seen the rainbow wheel or heard my hard drive grind on my iMac untill this upgrade.
Anybody know of any solutions, or also having these issues? For anyone else having the "white screen" issue with youtube, and/or yahoo issue. I seemed to have repaired the issue. I turned the parental controls off for both of my kids accounts, restarted my Mac, and the problem vanished.
I also turned the parental controls back on after this, restarted the computer, and the problem came back.
*** This is 100% a Parental Control/Mountain Lion glitch. Hopefully Apple knows and is working on a solution. The sooner they fix it, the sooner I can turn the parental controls back onto my kids accounts.
