Can't print using a Canon MF4370dn/ OS 10.6.8

Am running a quad core with 10.6.8, with the printer USB hardwired, and have done the following:
Repaced the USB cable;
Deleted and re-installed UFR2 v 2.2, including the .plist;
run repair disk permissions;
deleted and re installed the printer
The printer has worked in the past, though I have had to delete/install it a couple of times. Now all I get is beachballing and then error messages.
Arrg.

I don't believe there is a specific order, although a repair disk permissions is usually only needed after applications or drivers have been installed. So in a sense that is some order.
The reset of the printing system can be done at any time and if this doesn't get the printing to function again then it would suggest that the issue is not with the core printing system but with the driver and application it is working with.
You mention using the v2.2 driver. I would be inclined to remove that driver and install the v2.30 driver, which was released to support 10.7 but also supports 10.6. Here is a link to the UK English version of the latest UFR2 driver. If you are in a US English region, in that you use Letter size instead of A4, then get the same version driver from Canon USA.
Before installing this driver you need to remove the existing UFR2 files.
HD > Library > Printers > Canon > UFR2
HD > Library > Launch Agents > jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist
HD > Library > Printers > PPDs > Contents > Resources > CNTD***Z*2*.ppd.gz
(Where *** indicates a character string that represents the printer model and *2* indicates a character string that represents the corresponding language).

  • Can't print to a Canon MF 4690 wirelessly through Airport Extreme

I cannot seem to figure out why this isn't working. I just replaced a Brother printer (7 years old) that worked great wirelessly through my Airport Extreme with a Canon imageCLASS MF 4690. I found, downloaded and installed the drivers for it (10.6), but when I set up the printer, I can only print using a generic PCL driver. When I choose the Canon UFR driver, I get an error every time, when printing wirelessly or when directly connected via USB. I can see the Canon in the Airport Utility, but it won't print.
    What can I do?

Welcome to the discussions, Joe P.!
    +What can I do?+
You might try Apple's Printer Troubleshooting Guide to see it that provides some help.
Keep in mind that not all printers are compatible with the USB port on the AirPorts, so that may possibly be the case here if the troubleshooting steps don't provide a solution. Apple does not furnish a list of compatible printers, so unfortunately it's a process of experimentation to see your device will work with the AirPort Extreme.

  • I can't print to my Canon MP830

I can't print to my Canon MP830 all-in-one printer unless I use weprint which causes me to leave my PC logged in at all times in order to see the printer. The cannon is the printer I use at home and if I open my laptop and log into our server at work (I have had to add my home printer to the list of printers on the work server in order to see it). Why won't my Ipad 2 see my Canon. I know that it works well with most HP printers however, there is absolutely no reason for me to purchase another printer when mine is perfectly fine and well-suited for our home office. What can I do to remedy this issue?
    Thanks,
    Bart

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

Can't print to my Canon Pro-100. Get error message:There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be availableuntil you have selected a printerm and reopened any documants.

Your printer driver is having problems.
Resetting Photoshop's preferences sometimes clears it up (by removing previous print settings that the driver is supposed to read, but sometimes fails at).
Otherwise you'll have to work with Canon to figure out why the driver is misbehaving.

  • Can't print to my Canon LBP5050

Hi, I can't print to my Canon LBP5050. I already installed Canon CAPT Driver ver. 3.40 (UK), uninstalled it again, deleted the printer, restarted, re installed driver and re added the printer but still no joy.  Please advise?

Only a thought. Have you tried downloading the software from the Canon website?

  • Can you print using both USB and Wireless on HP M175nw?

I am having a problem with my new LaserJet 100 colorMFP M175nw. When I initially set it up with Setup wizard, I selected the "USB" option, since that was how my old printer was hooked up to the computer. That worked fine and the printer works perfectly with my desktop. Now I can't figure out how to also set up the printer to be used wirelessly. I specifically bought this printer because I wanted to be able to Airprint from an ipad. I've tried several of the fixes listed on this website, but I'm not able to get a list of wireless networks to appear on the printer's menu. I am using a Linksys wireless G router, which is hardwired to my desktop, but which I use to wirelessly access the internet with my laptop and ipad.
What is the best way to be able to use the printer with my both my desktop (non-wireless), laptop, and ipad (both wireless)? Can I leave the printer hardwired to my desktop with a USB AND connect the other devices wirelessly? If so, what is the best way for me to connect the printer to my router - wirelessly or wired? What steps do I need to take to do that and get the printer connected?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
Before Christmas 2011, I ran few tests and I've posted elsewhere on this forum. My printer is a different model but I believe same technology. My tests indicated we can connect printer using BOTH wireless and USB. Printer will show busy/not available during direct print (ie USB) but it knows job(s) is/are on the queue and print after that.
One thing I could not test successfully: scan and print at the same time.
    Regards.

  • Can I print on a Canon MP480 using only a black ink cartridge?

Hi BKJen, Both ink cartridges are required to be installed in the printer in order to print, even if one of the ink cartridges are low or out of ink. If you are receiving a low/out of ink warning and need to continue printing, you can disable the ink level detection function of the printer by pressing and holding down the Stop/Reset or Resume/Cancel button on the printer for at least 5 seconds, then releasing it.  Once the low/out of ink cartridge is replaced with a Canon genuine ink cartridge, the ink level detection function of the printer will be re-enabled. You can also set the printer to print using only the black ink cartridge from within the printer driver on your computer. If you would like instruction for doing this, please reply with what operating system is on your computer (version of Windows or Mac OS X), and we'll be happy to assist you.

Hello @downeyke , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you are looking into black ink options.  I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking an HP Support document below that will show you how to find which version of the Mac operating system you are using.  With this information we can provide you with accurate information.

  • I have an iPAD mini (4?), everything else in the house is windows. I want to print (using a Canon MF3010), aand also sned Facetime views to the TV, which is pre HDMI.  How can I do these two things?

I have an iPad mini 4; how do I print to a Canon MF 3010?
How do I send  ANYTHING TO A PRE HDMI TV?
    thanks

For Printing, after checking this page:
    AirPrint basics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
It appears your printer is not Airprint compatible. In fact it appears as though your printer is not Wireless even.  So you will be limited to sharing applications installed on your Windows computer.
Try this guide and see if it works for you.
    http://tweaks.com/windows/46495/enable-ios-airprint-support-on-windows/
Basically you'll need to find an application that can share the printer out to your wireless network using the AirPrint protocol which is what iPads use to communicate with printers.
For the second part of the question:
The short answer is you won't be able to do it directly. To view facetime on your Tv you need to mirror your iPad's screen. either through the Av Digital adapter, which connects through HDMI to the TV, or through an Apple TV which only has HDMI output.
So your only option is to get an HDMI to composite converter to plug either between the Apple Tv and the TV, or between the Digital AV adpater and the TV.
    Something like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Universal-Composite-Converter-Standard/dp/B0080KN18 K
    Apple TV
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipod/family/apple_tv
    Lightning Digital Av Adapter
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter
Oh, and an iPad 4 and an iPad Mini are 2 different products. One is the normal Sized iPad while the other one is the smaller sized version.

  • Can I print to a canon ir c3220 from an iPad? If so, how?

I'm a newbie to the iPad and a bit of a Luddite when it comes to tech... I have a canon ir c3220 at home and want to print to it. The printer does not have wireless, it connects to a wireless router/modem via cable. all other computers print ok.

iOS devices can only print directly to AirPrint printers. All AirPrint printers are wireless but not all wireless printers are capable of using AirPrint.
To print directly from an iPad / iPhone you will need an AirPrint - enabled printer or another device to act as a print server. That can be a Mac running handyPrint (donation - supported). The Mac must be "on" but may be asleep for them to work. Equivalent PC options may exist but you're on your own finding them.
You can also buy this standalone print server:
    http://www.lantronix.com/it-management/xprintserver/xprintserver.html
These options enable you to use any printer available to your network, even older ones that may predate AirPrint by decades.
Otherwise you will need to buy an AirPrint printer or multifunction device.

Is it possible that the Graphics update created an incompatibility with the Canon printer driver?
I don't believe so. I performed the Graphics update August 18th and I'm still printing to my MF4380dn.
If the printer icon for the MF4370dn queue looks like an inkjet printer then it sounds like the incorrect printer model was selected during the queue creation. When you create a queue for a Canon UFRII device, the Print Using menu will not auto-complete. Instead you have to manually locate the UFRII driver using the "Select printer software" menu and searching for the respective Canon model.
If you were to select the current print queue and then open the Options & Supplies option, under the Driver tab will be the current printer driver being used. For your model it should show "Canon MF4360-4390 UFRII LT (US)". If it shows a different model, then delete this queue and add the queue again, ensuring you select the correct printer driver. If it is showing the correct driver but still displays an incorrect printer icon then please reply.

  • Can't print tabloid on Canon iR C2620 printer...

    Here are my specs:
I have a 24" iMac (purchased about a month ago) running the latest version of Leopard and the Adobe CS3 Suite.
I am printing to a Cannon iR C2620 ImageRunner networked printer.
I can no longer print tabloid sheets on this printer from the CS3 Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
I can, however, print tabloids to a Phaser 7300 color printer from CS3.
Makes no sense. I could print everywhere fine when I was on 10.4, so I assume this is a Leopard issue, but I wanted to post here to see if this had been encountered by anyone else. It's a huge inconvenience and I have no idea how else to troubleshoot.
The Canon drivers all stop at OSX 10.4, and Leopard has a new way of handling printers (supposed to be easier...) so again, I'm stuck.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Ok, I do have the imagePASS. I downloaded drivers for it (I think) but now I don't see them in the list of available drivers to choose from. Do I need to set it up as an Apple Talk printer?
You don't have to use AppleTalk. In a mixed environment I would recommend you use IP. The imagePASS support LPR and Port 9100, which the Windows machines will use as a default. To create the printer, select IP Printer and change the menu to HP JetDirect. Then enter the ip address of the copier, the queue will be disabled, and then for Print Using, change this to "Select a driver..." and in the search menu type 'Canon iR'. You could see the iR C3220/2620-C2 v1.x. Select this and click Add.
When I create the Apple Talk queue it selects Generic PostScript Printer for me.
Sometimes this can occur even when the driver is installed. But it could also indicate that the driver you installed doesn't match the printer/RIP you are connecting to. You can either print a config from the imagePASS to check what you actually have or opens its web page by typing its ip address into your browser.
