Can't print wirelessly via time capsule on a windows 7 computer

I have an epson rx580 printer that when attached to my time capsule, I can print wirelessly with no problem on my Imac however I can't get my Sony / windows 7 laptop to print properly via the time capsule... I have installed bonjour on the laptop and setup the printer with bonjour however the printer will print about a half a page and stop and get stuck until I turn it off.. I have downloaded all the latest windows drivers and the firmware to the time capsule is up to date. Does anybody have any experience with getting windows 7 to print properly on a time capsule?

Have you plugged the printer directly into the win7 laptop and tried to print, using the current drivers. Is that successful?
If the job is failing half way through, make sure the permissions are correct on everything and make sure you turn on guest access on the TC.
Other than that, sorry I don't really know what is going wrong. Sometimes the issue is two way communications is failing. Try plugging the laptop into the TC with ethernet.

  • HP Laserjet 1020 Print Wirelessly Via Time Capsule?

Is it possible to set up an HP Laserjet 1020 to print wirelessly via time capsule? I already know I have to use the 1022 driver, and my printer works perfectly when the usb is plugged into my Macbook air. I plugged it into the new time capsule I just bought and added it on my Macbook as a network printer, but it wont print. Any tips or suggestions would be extremely helpful! Thanks in advance!

  • Why can't I print wireless with Time Capsule anymore?

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1280 that I have been printing wireless with for many years by plugging it in to the USB port on the back of the Time Capsule. Not anymore.
I have a MacBook Pro running the latest OS as well as the latest model Time Capsule running the latest software from Apple. I have tried using Airport Utility 5.6 which sees the printer plugged in. But when I try to add the printer to the Print & Scan system preferences, it shows up but says:
Software for this printer is available from Apple. Would you like to download and install it?
When I click "Download and Install" it searches for the software but then tells me:
The software for this printer is currently unavailable. Please contact the printer’s manufacturer for the latest software.
When I plug the printer directly into my MBP, I can add the printer and print without any problems.  Per Epson, I have the latest software for my printer, so I'm not sure why Apple needs to search for the software and download it in order for me to print using the Time Capsule.
Like I said before, this all use to work flawlessly. I'm assuming all the updates have "broken" something.
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

    Well, I solved my problem.
I deleted the EPSON folder in Library/Printers as well as Library/Cache and installed the EPSON driver via Softwar Update.
    Everything is working fine now.

  • Can i access hard drive wirelessly via time capsule?

I have a macbook pro with a full hard drive, a time capsule and an external hard drive.
I want to be able to access my files wirelessly and backup regularly.
Is the best option to use my external hard drive as my new hard drive, with automatic backup to the time capsule?
If I leave the external hard drive connected by usb to the time capsule will this mean I can wirelessly access them?
And finally what is the best way to move my files from my macbook pro to the external hard drive?

As I understand it.. and one of the other eggs spurts here may correct me. There are issues doing this.
An external drive plugged into TC can be used to store your files, but will not be backed up. (Not by Time Machine at least) And extremely inefficiently if you create a directory on the TC drive because it will be copied back to the computer and then onto the TC again. The external drive would have to be plugged directly into the computer for it to include the files in the backup.
So you have some choices. Each with a caveat.
    1. Create a directory on the TC and store your files there. That is the best way for speed. Although a USB drive access is probably no worse by wireless. It will not get backed up though. At least not via TM, you can manually do the backup. And should do so if the TC becomes the only place the files are stored.
    2. Plug the external hdd into the computer directly.. that is messy and obviously not what you want but the files are then included in the backup. It is considerably faster though.
    3. Buy a larger hdd for the MBP.

  • Printing wirelessly through Time Capsule

Can I do that? My iMac is connected via ethernet to my time capsule. If I connect ANOTHER ethernet from time capsule to the printer:
    A) Will MacBook recognize it as a viable printer
    B) Will I be able to print?

    Hi themothertucker,
Short answer, yes the connection to the iMac will be slower than if you were directly wired but based on how far you are away from the unit that difference might not be very noticeable.
Just to clarify... you have your modem connected to your Time Capsule, you're then wired from the Time Capsule to the rear of the iMac? I take it you currently use the Time Capsule as a backup solution for your iMac? Curious, why not just connect the printer via USB to the rear of the iMac? Was there a particular reason you wanted to print over WiFi? If you're wired to the Time Capsule then you must not be too far away from it.
The other option (theoretically) is you can wire the printer (via USB) to the Time Capsule and then have the iMac connect over WiFi to it. You can still backup to the TC and then print to the connected printer. Plus, you could then move your iMac somewhere else if you don't like where it is and have it located now out of convenience for the router/modem.
You can setup the printer via Bonjour which is a built-in service on the Time Capsule and iMac.

  • Access files on Time Capsule from remote Windows computer

Is there a way to access files on my Time Capsule at home from a different computer? I often need to get files from my mac at school - which has only Windows computers - and since I have a MacBook that is shut when I’m not using it, the best way would probably be to access the Time Capsule, that is always on and available. I always have a flash drive, so if I need any files or apps I could just add them there, or to my user account at school. I can’t change any settings on the router it is connected to, but I can change any settings required on the Time Capsule. The Time Capsule is set to connect to our wireless network. I have tried to google this, but I couldn't find anything. Any ideas?

Isn't it just to turn on static ip in the Time Capsule preferences? As I said, I can change any preferences on the Time Capsule that I have to.
The static IP I am talking about is not private but public.. ie the address the ISP gives you.. unless you pay extra or your ISP has more brains than most.. any IP assigned to you is rotated on an hourly, or daily basis usually. This is to prevent you using using your network as a server on the internet. At least not without paying them more money.. and it helps when you do bad things.. and get banned from a site.. with a static IP that ban is forever.
    So Problem 1.
From the internet your address keeps moving around.. how are you going to find it.
    Problem 2.
Time capsule does not offer a windows protocol to the internet. Only AFP.. apple file protocol.. windows cannot talk AFP. The Time capsule does not offer any other protocol except AFP and SMB (windows networking).. and only AFP is offered to WAN. SMB is so unsafe if ISP opened the port the world would be flooded with hackers. Because so many windows computers have so little protection.
Solution.. use a Mac. This is apple world.. when you buy one.. you are forced to buy more. There is a reason TC does not offer dyndns client and ftp etc. That would mean you could access it without a Mac and buying iCloud account.. with a Mac and iCloud you can do it easily. Surrender.. they have you on a noose.. struggling just tightens the knots.
Solution.. use dropbox and keep the files you want on the internet.
Solution .. as already mentioned.. replace the TC as the main router.. use it as a file store and get vpn router with dyndns client.

  • Can't print wirelessly via Airport Extreme if VPN active

I've had this same print problem with an Airport Express. Never did get a solution. I have an HP printer connected to my Airport Extreme. No problems printing from my Macbook Pro or my work PC laptop until the Cisco VPN client on my work machine is active. Then the laptop cannot see the printer. Obviously, the VPN client is affecting the Airport Extreme setup. Does anyone know of a solution? Thanks in advance.

Most VPNs, offer two types of tunnelling modes: 1) Full tunnel, and 2) Split/Local Access Tunnel. With the former, all network traffic originating from the VPN client will travel through the VPN tunnel to the network that the network that is on the "other side" of the tunnel. Resources on the local network, like your printer are not "seen." In the latter, traffic can either travel to the remote network or to resources on the local networkt.
The key is to configure your Cisco VPN client to establish that later type of VPN connection, assuming that your company allows it. They may not as it poses a security issue.

  • How can I print via the AirPort Time Capsule on a Windows 7?

    Hey,
First of all, I am really inexperienced about all these things. I have a MacBook from 2009 with OSX Lion and a PC Windows 7 x64. I have got a time capsule (https://www.mikepalmer.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/apple-time-capsule.jpg) connected to my router
and then another router in my room (probably working as an acces point) to which I  wirelessly connect my Windows 7.
The thing is that I can see the printer (HP Laserjet P1005) from my Mac but I don't know how to add it to my windows. On a previous PC I added a printer to the time capsule's IP 192.168.1.2 and printed with a considerable delay that way.
As you can see I don't understand how networks work, how IP's work, or how ports work in this matter.
Any help will be much appreciated!!

    Hi PGMLEBL,
I am not familiar with Mac product, the best way is ask the HP printer support for the detail support, generally if we know the printer IP address we can add it through add
a network printer, you may can refer the following third party article to add the printer:

I’m glad to be of help to you!

  • 10.5.3: can't print via Time Capsule

This week, I bought Time Capsule for at home, replacing the AirPort Express we had. I also upgraded my iBook G4 to Leopard (and installed 10.5.3, via ComboUpdater) to by au par with my wife's MacBook (which came with Leopard, and was also upgraded to 10.5.3, via ComboUpdater).
Our printer is a HP LaserJet 1300, connected via USB to Time Capsule (was connected via USB to the AirPort Express).
On my iBook G4 and now with Leopard, I installed the printer (System Preferences) - and now I can't print. I've spent the last couple of hours Resetting printing systems, Resetting Time Capsules, browsing these forums - all to no avail. *Utter frustration!*
Can anybody *especially from Apple* shed a light on what the problem is?
We had two Apple notebooks with 10.4.11, a laser printer and AirPort Express - and it worked fine (printed with no hassles). Now we still have two Apple notebooks, both with 10.5.3, and our laser printer connected to Time Capsule - and we just can't print.
While delving into this mess now, I also connected my iBook straight to the printer (via USB), and could print. But I cannot imagine this to be the solution!!!
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi Jan
My TC had to be replaced by apple because it wouldn't show any printers or external hard drives connected via usb. I ended up spending hours on the phone to apple ts and in the end I took my printer and lacie hd to a friend who had a tc and he connected both up to his tc straight away. Apple finally had to replace my TC. The replacement works fine.

  • Can't connect my new iPhone 4 with internet via Time Capsule. IP4 recognized TC but will not connect with it. (Password etc. is ok)

Can't connect my new iPhone 4 with internet via Time Capsule. IP4 recognized TC but will not connect with it. (Password etc. is ok)

    Do the usual wireless things.
Change the wireless name to simple name with only alphanumerics and no spaces.
Set to manual and use channels 1, 6, 11 in turn.
For testing take off the security altogether.
The iphone only works on 2.4ghz so only that band is relevant.

  • Using Printer via Time Capsule for Windows

    Hi,
Could you please guide me how can I use printer connect to my time capsule from windows based PC. I can do it from my mac but unable to print it from Windows PC.
I have also downloaded Bonjour, it detects my HP printer 1018 but when it comes to driver it is not able to locate also tried so many different option for the driver but unfortuntely no luck so somebody please guide me to print (HP Laserjet 1018 printer) from windows connected via Time Capsule 2TB.

When you setup the printer choose a local printer.. then change the port to TCP/IP and type in the IP of the TC.
Complete the setup.. and choose the 1018 HP printer drivers.
That should be all there is to it.
Download the airport utility for windows and see if the printer is there.
Ensure you have the TC setup in WORKGROUP for file sharing.
Make sure the computer is in home.. not work or public.
Make sure you do not have homegroup activated.
If that doesn't work turn off the firewall and try again.

  • Wireless Printer connection to Time Capsule

I have a Canon Pixma MP620 wireless printer that I'm trying to connect wirelessly to my Time Capsule. Is there a way to do this using the touch button method? Most access points have a button that can be pressed to receive a signal from another wireless device so they can sync but I haven't seen anything like that on my Time capsule

So you plugedd the printer into the time capsule usb right?
You need to re-add the printer in the system preferences one more time because the location has moved.

HP f2280 printing only black&white via time capsule
    anyone have this problem before?

I have just purchased the latest Time Capsule and have exactly the same problem with my HP F2280 when printing from my iMac. Very odd. So started surfing the web and it appears we are not alone and there is no easy fix. Anyway it appears the scanner will not work via the TC either, never crossed my mind when I purchased it that I would have such problems. Two thumbs down for TC

  • Can you use the apple time capsule as just a wireless hard drive without using it as a router

Can i use the apple time capsule as just a wireless hard drive without using  a router

You can, but this type of configuration is not recommended or supported by Apple.
Two cautions if you want to try this:
    1)  The Time Capsule has to be configured to "Join" your existing wireless network in this type of setup...and to do that, you must know the exact type of wireless security that your network is using.
    2)  Backups are going to take twice as long. The wireless signal must travel from your computer to the wireless router and then from the wireless router back to the Time Capsule.  Two "hops"......even if the computer is located close to the Time Capsule.
If you want to try this, we can tell you how....but with no guarantees on your results....since this is not officially supported.
