Can't Properly Update or Uninstall Flash on Android Atrix 2
I am locked in a vicious circle when trying to update Adobe Flash player on my Motorola Atrix 2. When I attempt to update it takes me to a settings page where it asks me if I want it on Local Storage or Peer Networking. Regardless of what I choose (I have tried choosing each and toggling every possible bullet within) there is no way to move forward after I have made my choice. There is a back button and a ? button. It appears as if at the end of the Local Storage button and Peer Networking choices are forward arrow buttons but they do not work. Then I tried uninstalling Adobe Flash and it won't even let me completely uninstall it. When I do it still appears as installed but just needing an update. This is incredibly frustrating. I feel like I own an I-Phone.

A few months back, against my better judgement and without doing the proper due diligence, I tried installing Adobe Digital Editions 3.0 onto the primary drive of my MacBook Pro (running MacOS 10.6.8).

While there IS readily available "Tech Specs" documentation for the current Adobe Digital Editions v4.0.1 installer for MacOS (which clearly states "Mac OS X v10.8 or later" is REQUIRED), there is absolutely NO indication or similar documentation for supported system software for PREVIOUS versions of Adobe Digital Editions.

PROBLEM #2a
Adobe Digital Editions v3.0 for MacOS comes as an installer (which REQUIRES admin authentication to provide root-level access to your computer).
PROBLEM #2b
Adobe "Digital Editions 3.0 Installer" is FULLY launchable under MacOS 10.6.8 (and the installed application will require MacOS 10.7 or later).
PROBLEM #2c
There is NO associated ("ReadMe" type) support document included on the "ADE_3.0_Installer.dmg" disc image and ZERO integrated documentation within in the installer.

There is NO Adobe "Digital Editions 3.0" UNinstaller either installed as part of the "Standard" installation package OR currently downloadable from Adobe.com.

Adobe's ONLY MacOS solution to "Uninstall previous versions [prior to the current v4.0] of Adobe Digital Editions for Mac OS" are the following instructions:
It's necessary to have administrator privileges to complete these steps.
1. From your user directory, locate /Applications
2. Drag the digitaleditions1x5 folder to the Trash, and empty the Trash.

Adobe's "What are my contact options?" page indicates BOTH "Chat (within 90 days of registration)" and "Forums" as available "Basic Support" options for Adobe "Digital Editions" software for "Download, install, setup" help, however, "Forums" is the ONLY available choice under "Contact options" for on Adobe's "Contact Customer Care" page (for "Download, install, setup" help with Digital Editions).

While I did NOT realize this prior to my attempting to install Adobe Digital Editions, apparently it would require me to "activate" my computer with an Adobe ID.
[NOTE: This information IS included in the readily accessible FAQ (and I am sure it's also found in the installer integrated software "License"), however, this is a MAJOR "feature" of this software and could be presented MUCH more prominently as an installer integrated "ReadMe" screen.]

As an experienced and life-long Mac user, I really SHOULD have known better and I did have second thoughts almost immediately, but by then it was TOO LATE!!!
So, now I have this TOTAL crap, super duper DRM software that required root-level permission to install (AND I couldn't even run this installed v3.0 copy under my preferred MacOS 10.6.8 if I wanted to...but, of course, I now have ABSOLUTELY NO desire to ever use this software again), and I just want to COMPLETELY remove all traces of it from my computer!
A pretty thorough Google search yielded several so-called "solutions" that were as bad or EVEN worse than the very limited "official" resources found directly from Adobe!
Any actual, real working solutions would be VERY greatly appreciated!

aadams77Hmm, it shouldn't be that much of a problem. I searched my entire drive for "digital editions", and this is the whole thing:

The application itself, three small files scattered in your user account, to unimportant installation receipt files, and another preference file in the root Library folder. Removing those should remove everything related to version 3, which is what I have installed.
Where I substituted "user" above (for the three entries of /Users/user/...), replace that with whatever the actual name of your user account is.
Edit: I double checked the installer using a small app that sorts out every file in an installer, and where each item would normally be installed. The main app is literally the only item in the installer. The receipts are created by the OS per the installer's data, and the other minor preference files are created when the app is first run. There is nothing else. -
Flash is just a plugin for useless moving media on the web, why is this product such a big deal. Latest version I'm installing on my users machines are not working anymore, btw how did you manage that?! And latest version on adobe.com is not downloadable as install package. Flash and Adobe Reader is stealing so much time for me at my work and I'm really soooooo sick of it. So, do anyone know a quick way to uninstall flash on all my machines? I will rather have a few dissapointed users then spending more time on getting the latest Flash player downloaded and distribute it. And same goes for Adobe Reader btw. This is probably the most frequent updated product in IT history. And who the hell want to start Adobe Reader from the desktop? Why is an icon put on the desktop??

Can't update or uninstall Macromedia Flash player!
Hi folks!
I've got a problem concerning the automatically installed Flash player. I am using a Qosmio G20.
While installing a new program (Lexware Financial Office) this program tried to update the Macromedia Flash player to the newest version. But the deinstallation of the old player was interrupted and the following message was displayed:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'install_flash_player_7.msi' in the box below.

Closing this window does end the whole installation process of this new program.
After that I opened the list of installed programs to uninstall Flash manually, but with the same result.
Then I searched the internet for this install_flash_player_7.msi. I found the file but I still can't remove or update the Flash Player.
As a last chance I backed up all my data and used the recovery DVD to reinstall the whole system. Without installing any additional application, I had a look at the list of installed programs and guess what? The Flash Player has already been installed, so it is part of the recovery DVD.
But why can't it be uninstalled? I really need to get rid of the old player to be able to install Lexware Financial Office...

but I think I explained it not exactly enough: I know that the old Flash installation is looking for a file that seems to be on antoher pc / server / disc or what ever, but the problem is, that I did not install the Flash Player that I would like to remove, respectively upadte to the newest version.
It is part of the Toshiba Recovery DVD. That means, after killing the HD and setting up the system completely new with the Toshiba Recovery DVD, this little tricky Flash Player is already installed.
It seems to be that there is a wrong link or setup on this DVD. But if that is the case, I can not be the only one with this problem, or?
And is there any way to remove this thing manually?

I get error message:the path c:\documents and settings\network service\loval settings\application\data\apple\apple software update\itunes.msi cannot be found. verify that you have acess to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package itunes.msi in a folder from which you can install the product itunes... how do i fix this??
I read the responses about downloading the windows installer cleanup utility, but that is no longer available on microsoft's website.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Whenever I try to update or uninstall, I get the following error:

Spoke with IT guy, he doesn't know what that means. I don't have any restrictions on my account, etc. Running Windows.

Can't update or uninstall, missing iTunes.msi file
I was trying to use homesharing, got iTunes messed up so that it wouldn't update. Now I can't update or uninstall...Get the message: "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unaccessable." Problem seems to be that the iTunes.msi file is not accessable?

Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I did the update today and now itunes can't see my ipod, uninstalled iTunes and all the recommended things, nothing has worked.
It worked just fine last weekend. I have windows 8.1 and a brand new pc, new iPod also, the new Nano. now after the update today, iTunes says iPod has been detected but could not be indentified properly. I can see it in windows. I am trying to print redplum coupons and I can't, help. I have updated java, adobe flash, and made sure my printer was set on default. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have contacted redplum and no one will help.
No Apple response??? Redplum/Valassis will not help either. I searched, using the cups error message and though it is Unbuntu, same error so maybe useful...only problem: details would not display unless I join Unbuntu forum. What a pain to do anything with my Mac or find any help. I honestly regret buying this buggy OS.

As the old saying goes: when in doubt, consult the manual. The problem appears to be that I added the printer using the KDE Add Printer Wizard. It was automatically given a "socket" URI instead of an "lpd" one. When I:
- altered the printer settings at http://localhost:631 (the CUPS admin page) as instructed in the manual for the printer, and
- copied the PPD file into a second place on the hard drive (as instructed on ubunutuforums, see the link above)
..everything started working.
It's still slower than windows, but I can live with that
Probably a simple fix. Change the socket I.P. to match the printer I.P. like this:
socket://192.168.1.86:9100. The thing I'm concerned with using socket:// is that AFAIK the printer I.P. must not change. In my case I'm able to assign a static I.P. address to the printer but it's something to consider.

Are you having a problem with your printer under the latest versions of Ubuntu (perhaps it worked under an older version)? Are you able to print short documents, but not longer, or more graphics-intensive, documents? (e.g. the unfortunate people at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=625493). Do they sit there as Processing for ages and then switch to Held? If you have the same problem I had the solution I tried may work for you too. Firstly, check your cups error log:
sudo gedit /var/log/cups/error_log
If you see anything like the following, the solution may be simple:
[Job 201] Unable to write print data: Broken pipe
PID 13359 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/socket) stopped with status 1!
System > Administration > Printing and right click on your printer, selecting Properties. Settings > Device URI
If you see something like socket://your_printer_ip_address:9100 just change socket to lpd and remove the :9100 off the end. Then click on apply.
Apparently lpd is a more modern protocol which works with most printers whereas socket is more raw (and potentially faster but riskier in a network situation). Somewhere along the line, the default Ubuntu/Gnome setup for networked printers shifted from lpd to socket. Some primitive printers will have benefited whereas a larger number of more modern printers will have suffered.
Please correct me if I am wrong (which is highly possible) but the underlying problem could be that socket may make the printer wait a long time for a large file to be processed ready for printing. Some printers, such as the Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C525A, may drop the socket if things take too long to start coming through.
Changing timeout settings might work but lpd is better than socket so it is the preferred solution in any case.
If this works for you, please leave a comment to let others know (ideally with a description of the printer and Ubuntu version). Printer may be relevant if it doesn’t support the direct stream protocol properly. NB I may take a while to let your comment through because of the volume of spam. Sorry about that.

Can't update or install Flash plugin on my iMac
Was asked in Safari 7.1 to update my flash plugin. OK, no big deal, I do it all the time. Only this time it gives me an error every time. I tried several ties including complete clean installs.
Solutions? I need the plugin for a website I need to access. I realize I can just use Chrome instead but I like to use Safari for this website so I can let it play in the background while I use Chrome for my main browsing.

OS 10.9.5If a complete uninstall/reinstall isn't working, then try booting into safe mode and doing the uninstall/reinstall.

To boot into Safe mode, just restart your mac, and hold Shift until it starts loading. You'll know it's working because you'll get a loading bar, and it will take a *really* long time to boot up. Once you're in, try the steps again. Once you've installed successfully (or you run into a failure again), reboot again to get back into normal mode.
My thought is that something that runs in the background has an embedded WebKit instance that's keeping Flash busy. If rebooting in Safe Mode does the job, then we'd be interested in looking at anything you might be running that you think could be a candidate. -
I uninstalled Flash Builder 4.7 using the uninstall app. I'd like to re-install the app, but Creative Cloud says it's up-to-date, even though it does not exist anymore on my computer. How can I re-dowload it?
