Hi... First thanks for replying.
Now, I'm new here in the Mac world.
This is my scenario... I'mon my first mac! I signed up for .mac today and never used .mac before. well, I sued it to post some pics while on my trial and that worked like a charm.
Today, I created a little site on iWeb and was trying to publish it. But Can't do it... I'm seeing the behavior described on my first post. Did I miss any steps?
thanks again,

Hi! I can't publish my site on iweb?!!

    Everything is filled in correctly.

  • I can't publish my site to a local folder.

I can't publish my site to a local folder. It says "Publish Error. An unknown error occurred". There is also no Domain.site2 in iWeb folder in Application Support. I was wondering if anybody may be able to help please? I can open the site from the local folder but working on changes will not work and some catagories don't show properly. I'm using Snow Leopard, iWeb 3.0.4. OS X 10.6.8

Are you looking in the correct library. You want the Home () /Library/Application Support folder.
Or you can download and run the shareware  Find Any File   to search for "domain.sites2".  FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't and will find the domain file.

  • How can I publish iWeb site in root directory in place of a prior site?

Hi there... I have created a family web site and published it to my .mac account. The problem is that I had previously published another site and that site remains in the 'root' directory of my account. Practically, this means that if anyone types in:
    web.mac.com/[username]
... they will get my old site instead of the site i wish them to see... Is there any way I can move my new site so that typing the more simplified 'root' address (above) will bring up the site I wish for them to view?

Do you have both sites in iWeb together? If so, then simply look in the Site Organizer, select the site that you want to come up by the short URL and drag it to the top of the organizer. iWeb will make whatever site is at the top of the Site Organizer the default site. You should probably do a "Publish ALL to .Mac" after doing this so that all the files are in the right place. So once you do this you can access the default site with the short URL http://web.mac.com/yourname and then you can access the second site by using its URL directly... http://web.mac.com/yourname/iWeb/sitetwoname You could also provide links from site one to site two and vice versa to "link" the two sites together.

  • IWeb error messages -- can't publish large site after upgrade.

I just upgraded to iLife 09 and all of my websites showed up red in the new iWeb - indicating that they needed to be published. I hadn't changed any of them since the upgrade but I figured it was part of the upgrade to republish all of them.
Whenever I try to publish the sites I get the following message:
An error occurred while publishing file “/private/var/folders/pM/pMWBd0yEF04cfDIeAZkuPE+TI/TemporaryItems/com.apple.iWeb7281_TEMP_288612390_15/sites/JW/Things_and_Such_files/shapeimage2.png”. Try publishing again later.
I've tried all the usual suggestions. I threw away the preferences files and cache files for iWeb. I logged out of MobileMe and logged back in. I tried to publish from an older version of my Domain file from Time Machine. If I tell it to publish the site to my desktop then it works just fine. The site that it has problems with creates a 179MB folder on my desktop when I publish to my desktop. The other two sites that I have in iWeb publish perfectly in MobileMe but are not bigger than 3 MB each.
I tried moving parts of the larger site out of it, publishing the significantly shrunken page and then adding the rest back in smaller pieces. It will publish the smaller selection with no problem. It won't let me add the pieces back in, however. IWeb freezes up when I try and I have to reload the previous Domain file from Time Machine.
So, my question is: Is there a limit to the size of site that can be published using iWeb? If so how do I get around this?

    Reboot fixed it.

  • IWeb '08: Can I publish to sites other than .Mac?

I'm new to using a Mac but I was wondering if iWeb can be used to publish to sites hosted by other servers like godaddy or something similar?

Yes. Publish the site to a folder and then upload the files as instructed by the host.

  • Can't publish my site; keep getting 'Disk Error'

    Hi!
After bringing my original site into '08, I can publish the site. Then if I change anything on my blog page or add entry, I get a variety of results. Sometimes it will publish and sometimes I get the message "Disk Error". I've tried starting from my '06 file, updating it and still eventually get this same message. I have run the Disk Utility, pitched the pref file, run Tech Tool Pro and defragged and optimized the hard drive. And then, tried starting from scratch again without being able to publish. I realize that my file is probably damaged, but I want to make sure there is nothing I can do before starting all over on the website since it is large with lots of pix, movies and blogs.
    thanks!

Thanks for the sympathy! I do have a question. The damaged file is my primary website. I had separated it from a second website after updating to iWeb 08. The second site publishes fine. I want to keep the URL for the second website exactly as it is because I have forwarding set up with a host other than dotMac. How should I go about setting up a new site?
    Thanks for all your help.

  • How can I publish separate sites to individual MobileMe accounts?

Running iWeb 08 which my husband and I have used to create our own websites. I have my own Mobile Me account and he has his own Mobile Me account. At the moment when either of us update our website we can only publish them both so on my Mobile Me account I have the links and info for his website and vice versa on his Mobile Me account.
Is there a way that I can we can publish only our own websites to our own Mobile Me accounts?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The easiest way I can see is to each of you have your own account on the Mac. That way each can publish to their own MMe account. Copy the domain.sites2 file to each account. Open the file and delete the site that is not for that particular MMe account. Do the same in each Mac account.

  • How can I publish two sites separately?

I want to publish a new site, but every time I do it, the old is the same folder than the new one.
My question is: how can I publish them separately?
    Regards.
    Guillermo

I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I need help!I can´t publish my site through FTP

    Hi there,
I have recently bought the domain for my site www.jonayvane.com at startlogic.com. I have the account information and password necessary but when I publish the site and i go to "see my site" the URL displayed is http://www.jonayvane.com/www.jonayvane.com_ and I get a 404 error page not found. I have tried not entering a site name for the site so that the second "www.jonayvane.com_" will not appear but I still cant get it to publish because Iweb makes me give it a sight name. I have tried reading similar problems on the forum but I don't quite understand the solutions given and most people have at least already managed to publish their site, which I haven't. At present I am only loading a basic "home" page so I at least don't have to wait for a couple of hours to try out a different option.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks a ton,
    Jonathan.

Do not compound problems by creating other problems.
First do it the default way. With a sitename iWeb creates by default.
Did you enter the info to connect to the server correctly :
    Servername (probably ftp.jonayvane.com)
    Username
    Password
According to your Host's tutorial I understand you can leave the Path/Directory field empty.
    Give it a try.

  • I can't publish my site.

Last night, I added a new photo page to my site. The upload seemed to be going fine until the very end when the little clock thing just stopped moving, and the page never published. I then tried creating a Web gallery from iPhoto, but couldn't do that either. Then this morning, I tried just one small change in iWeb and got an error saying the .Mac servers are busy and to try again later.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Do I really have to wait, and why?

iCloud does not support web hosting. You will have to find 3rd party hosting. This may be of some interest to you: Life After MobileMe.  The following discusses iWeb after MMe is discontinued:
It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

  • Can't publish my site from another country???

I've been trying to publish my site for 24 hours. I keep getting the same error message "Can’t access your iDisk. Try publishing again later." I am a UK user on holiday in Switzerland. Is it possible that the problem is related to the territory I am trying to send the information from?

    No.
If you're using your own computer and haven't changed your iDisk (MobileMe) account info you should be able to upload from anywhere.
