Can't pull up group to email to in iPhoto, what's wrong?

In Address book I already have groups set up. Previously, I could email some photos from iphoto and start to type in the group name and the send-to would populate from my address book. Now it does not.

It still works, if you set the "iPhoto Preferences > General" to "Email photos using: Mail" and not "iPhoto". The only drawback is, that you then cannot use the nice photo cards as templates. You will have to fall back on the "Photos" stationary in "Mail"

What Apple store told you they wanted $249.00 to tell what is wrong?
If this is a 13" Macbook Pro then that is the cost of the Extended Applecare warranty. As you are outside the 90 days of Free Phone Support then what Apple told you is that to get Phone Support you would either need to pay $45 per phone call or pay $249.00 for the Applecare extended warranty which comes with 3 years Free Phone Support from date of purchase.
Or you can take it to a Apple Genius Bar and have them look at it for Free.
Every Mac comes with 1 year warranty and includes only 90 days of phone support. You can buy the extended Applecare warranty anytime within the first year of ownership, IE until the 1 year warranty runs out.
I suggest you have your computer looked at by either an Apple Authorized Repair Center or Genius Bar and then before the 1 year warranty runs out buying the extended warranty

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

The plastic cover was removed before I left the store and I have moved the volume up and down during, before and after phone calls. Have tried it in protective case and out of it. Impossible to hear calls unless phone is on speaker. There seems to be lots of comments re this. Is it a significant flaw? Can I fix it?

Use BCC instead of TO. That is what that feature is for.

Where are you trying to log in? You should be able to change your ID at http://appleid.apple.com - can you log in there?
Before you change your ID you should log out of the iTunes Store and on any devices which are logged into iCloud. Then once you've changed it you can log back in with the new ID. (Your iCloud synced data will disappear from the device when you do this but will reappear when you sign back in - give it time).
If you are unable to sign into http://appleid.apple.com you will need to contact Support. Go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . Click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. How can i pull a frame in a video from iphoto and convert to a photo

I have many videos from my iPhone, imported into iPhoto, and i would like to create desktop images (jpg's) from some of them. Is there a way to do this using my native mac apps? (iWork, iLife, Quicktime 7 Pro, Aperture) I am running 10.8.3, all iLife and iWork, Aperture, all latest updates and versions. I am running on a 2009 iMac 3.06 Dual Core, 12 gigs Ram. I have a 3 TB back up, Time machine, as well as iCloud. The old way of pulling from quicktime pro does not seem to work in iPhoto exports as MOV, so I'm looking for any help please! Thank you in advance!

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

How can I find a group of lost photos from iPhoto?

When a recent Mac OS X update was installed on my computer which included the new Photo App, my iPhoto upgraded to this new app and was replaced by it on my desktop. In beginning to use the new Photo App, I discovered that it did not have the same editing functions as my iPhoto did. I decided then to go back to iPhoto, but when I opened up my iPhoto I realized in my album list that I had lost about a year’s worth of photos all the way back to the middle of 2013. I then decided to restore my computer to an earlier time using Time Machine so that hopefully my iPhoto would be restored with all of its photos. I went ahead and did this and had to do a rebuild of my iPhoto library to recover the lost photos. When I did this, I was not aware, that I had still lost some other photos out of albums from early September 2014. Before I was aware of this, I also erased my external hard drive and then did a backup because I kept getting messages in my computer that the computer could not do additional back up’s because there was not room on the external hard drive.
Earlier today, I tried to retrieve some photos out of albums from that. In early September 2014 and found that the album listed the photo number but there was no thumbnail and when I clicked on the photo it just brought up a silver triangle on black with an exclamation point in the middle indicating that that photo could not be found. I did a command option press and opened up iPhoto and I completed all of the various rebuilding and restoring options all the way up to and including restored iPhoto database. When I had completed all of this I found that I was still missing those photos, several hundred. I am wondering if these photos are still on my hard drive someplace. I could not restore them from the external hard drive because I had erased earlier backup versions, as I indicated. Is it possible for me to find and restore these photos? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.-MP

You created a mess and there is no solution - with the actions you have taken those photos are gone unless you have access to them from some other source - they existed in two place - in your iPhoto library and on your backup drive - you have traded the backup drive and restore an earlier iPhoto library so all you have is what you have

Can't find deploytool in jwsdp1.1!!! What's wrong with jwsdp1.1

I don't get it. It seems to me that jwsdp 1.1 is really f*cked up. Now, I don't want to offend anybody, but come'on. First of all, maybe the most important question I have right now is:
Where is the deploytool they use in the tutorials. Sorry, but I looked in <jwsdp_home>\bin. Can't find it. Maybe we should use the deploytool of j2ee 1.4 beta release. The only thing is, it doesn't work properly. At least not on my computer. This was my problem:
When I created a new Application (ear) and after that I created a new Bean as a new jar in an existing application, while pointing to the freshly made ear, it just didn't work. There was no deployment descriptor made, nor was there a jar file put inside of the ear.
So end of story, I can't use the deploytool. Does anybody know a solution. Because I am a last years student and have to finish this program in a couple of week. But if I can't deploy it, I have a big problem.
Or at least, does anybody know where I can find decent information about deploying web services???

I've seen the wsdeploy file in javaxrpc. But that wasn't the file I was really looking for. I was looking for deploytool.bat.
If you check the wsdp tutorial on page 79, under the title: "Deploying the application using deploytool" they mention this tool. And they state that one can find it at <jwsdp_home>/bin/deploytool
But like I said, it isn't inside the bin directory
I have a strange feeling that the tutorial is not referring to jwsdp1.1 but rather to jwsdp1.0
and that sun have taken some files like deploytool out of the jwsdp package and put them in the J2EE 1.4 package (like deploytool).
E.g. in the same tutorial in chapter 9 somewhere at the pages 399-400 they refer to a file "jwsdponj2ee" which is needed to integrate (i presume) jwsdp on j2ee 1.3.*. This is another file you can't find in the jwsdp 1.1 package. Is this confirming that Sun presumes everybody uses j2ee 1.4 right now?

I can't update my Apple apps in App Store. What is wrong?

I have had my MacBook Pro for over a year now and I have had this problem with App Store since then: I can't update my apps/programs from Apple - e.g iPhoto, Garageband and iMovie. And the most irritating thing is that I can update the apps I download myself. Does anyone know how to fix it? It would be nice :-) Thanks.

Do you get any error message when you try to update them? First, check if they are hidden. If they are hidden, unhide them > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4928

Please help me - I can't drag song to playlist to burn a CD - what's wrong?

I'm a new I-Tunes user and need a song burned onto a CD. I purchased the song but can't drag it onto a playlist in order to burn the CD. I can hear the song in the library but it won't drag over. Also the burn icon isn't highlighted. Can you help me figure out how to solve my problem?

Finally gave in and called Apple Support.
1) They had me restart while holding down the Option-Command-P-R keys (this resets the HW apparently. Didn't fix it.
2) Next they had me move my System Preferences folder to the trash. Still didn't fix it.
3) Lastly they had me move all my cache files to the trash and then empty the trash. Restarted and it seems to be fixed now.
I was told that sometimes after an upgrade if you don't "delete all your caches" that there can be problems. I'll have to see if the connection holds up since before the problem was intermittent, but at least now I have a case number and all seems well so far.
I encourage those who are experiencing issues to please call Apple Support - it appears that there is no one fix and it depends on so many different factors. If this issue re-appears I'll be back on the phone with them - plus I'll update this thread.
