Can't purchase movies, grey buttons

I've been running into issues of late purchasing movies on iTunes.  I would guestimate that at least 40% of the movies advertised have grey purchase buttons.  I first noticed this on discounted old releases like Team America and several others which were on sale.  Today I tried to buy the latest in the Underworld series but again, grey buttons.  Even the trailer won't run.  I purchased the latest Train Album without a hitch and many other movies currently listed play trailers and have active purchase buttons.  Anyone seen this beside me?  I serve iTunes from my mac mini server to several AppleTVs all generations and there are three iPhones here on the same network but not the same user id.  Everything else is opperating as expected.  I did successfully purchase the Underworld movie from an AppleTV, but in the past I have not been able to locate the same special offers or sale items on the AppleTV which were available in iTunes.

I have to admit I'm more then a little disapointed to have zero responses.  If I can't load movies I purchase into my iTunes library they can not be distributed to my AppleTVs first generation.  Also I can't watch them directly from iTunes on my mac and they can not be backed up.  The Cloud is not an acceptable alternative ESPESIALLY because it is inaccessable to the first gens and apparently to my iTunes library itself.  Not to mention the loss of revenue.  I buy a lot of movies, but I'm not buying anything else that will only run on my second gen ATVs from the cloud.  Quick check of the new release board yields the following results:
Contraban - gray
Parahia - gray
Ghost Protocol - active
marley - active
Shame - gray
Flaw - active
Hit so Hard - active
The Divide - gray
Laugh at my pain - gray
Fightville - active
Iron Lady - active
Albert Nobbs - gray
Hop - active
Darkest Hour - active
Boy - active
Comic-Con - gray
War Horse - active
We Bought a Zoo - active
Chipwrecked - active
Little Bit of Heaven - active
Dangerous Method - gray
By making this list I think I have diagnosed the problem.  UNRATED or R titles are all gray NOT RATED and PC-13 and below are available. This would be in alignment of my parental controls, but why is iTunes not prompting me for the password?  I will disable parental controls since the kids are all asleep and see if that resolves the issue.

  • I'm based in the UK. Can I purchase movies from iTunes on my Mac then watch them on Apple TV?

As I'm based in the UK I can't purchase movies on the Apple TV 3. If, however, I purchased a movie on my Mac or iOS device, would I then be able to watch it through the Apple TV?

If you buy movies on iOS devices make sure you transfer them to iTunes to allow you to backup - until we in UK get movies in the cloud this is pretty important.
To be honest I only purchase movies in itunes (or on the original AppleTV which allows it as well as music browsing/purchase and itunes LP/Extras playback!) as I'm useless about syncing iOS devices.

  • How do I change my apple i.d. to the same as my spouse's so that we can share purchased movies, music, etc without losing all of my information associated with my apple i.d.?

We have had separate apple i.d.'s for many years but would now like to share purchased movies.  Is it possible to change my apple i.d. to my spouse's?

I tunes on your computer can act as a styorage place for all of your stuff.  Each device is identified seperatley, but the mu7sic app and book libraries are shared.  I have not tried sharing purchased movies, but I will tonight, and will post back confirmation that movies work as well.  As you sync - the material from both ibraries is presented.. You choose what you want on your device, she chooses what she wants on her device.
The olny issues that arise  is when you try to download updates to apps that were purchased under her ID.  In those cases you either need to know her ID, or wait for a sync - where her device would update the itunes version, that you would simply resync back to your devices.
are you guys sharing a computer now, or are you syncing to two different computers?

  • Can't purchase movie since software upgrade

I just upgraded my apple TV to the newest software version. I also upgraded my itunes and my iphone. I ran the iphone controller app for my iphone. I know there was a lot that changed. Everything is running current software and I now can not purchase a movie. I get an error message telling me that my email address is incorrect in itunes. My email address is correct both in my AppleTV settings as well as itunes. There are some movie I can rent, but not all. Again, the error message tells me I have a bad email address. I have checked and it is correct on all my devices.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to do so I can buy movies again.

Do you mean USB hub? I usually use a 4 port (not sure of the speed) USB hub which has always worked fine when syncing. When I started having problems I switched to using the main USB port (higher speed and better connection?) which didn't make any difference at all.
Should have mentioned earlier I tried restoring so my last comment refers to another unsuccessful attempt at restoring.

  • Can't purchase movie in iTunes

I've tried to purchase the T2 movie in iTunes, but the button doesn't work. I noticed that the button is gray instead of bold, like the option to buy the movie isn't available. I can purchase other movies and music, but sometimes I see that certain movies won't allow me to buy them. What's going on here?

What device did you use? If it was an iOS device, look in the Videos app.
This is the iTunes for Windows forum, by the way. If you have iPhoto, you have a Mac, so this forum usually won't be the best place for you to ask questions.

  • Can't purchase movies. Help!!

So I went to buy the "Marley" documentary on Itunes and when I clicked buy and signed in Itunes took the money out of my account but did not download the movie, instead Itunes told me that payment info is required. I had no method selected for payment as i only use gift cards for Itunes and had more than enough in my account for the movie. This only happens with movies. I can download music no problem. So where is my movie, and the money I paid for it? And how can I prevent this from happening again?

What happens when you try to buy them, does the 'buy' button not work, do you get any error messages ... ?
If you are getting a message to contact iTunes Support then you can do so via this link and ask them for help (we are fellow users on these forums, we won't know why the message is appearing) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
    If it's a different problem ... ?

  • HT3819 Home Share issue: I have a Mac and Apple TV. Both are log into the same Wifi network and the same iTunes account (I can view purchased movies on AppleTV). Home Sharing shows 'ON' for both devices. BUT...AppleTV shows no computers. Itunes sidebar-no

Has anyone else found solution to Apple devices not 'seeing' each other on Home Share?  I have a Macbook Air (new Nov'12) and Apple TV (new Dec'12). Software updated on both. Both are logged into the same Wifi network and the same iTunes account (I can view movies purchased from iTunes on my AppleTV). Home Sharing shows 'ON' for both devices. BUT...AppleTV shows no computers... and ... Itunes sidebar does not have a 'Shared' area at all.  Help please as without this functionality, my Apple TV only provides portal to purchased (i.e. Netflix,...) content which I can get from Wii or Xbox.
I have already tried the following without success:
    1. Homeshare DID work the first day after I setup Apple TV... but the next day it has not worked since then.
    2. Powered off 30 sec then re-started (Apple TV & Macbook & iTunes login)
    3. Checked Firewall settings per Home Sharing troubleshooting guide (correct settings)
    4. Turning on Photostream in iPhoto and selecting iPhoto within iTunes and then checking to see if Photostream shows anything on AppleTV (it shows 'on' for my iTunes account but 'Zero' pictures found ... despite the >3,000 pictures showing avail in iTunes).
I also have 'Remote" app on my iPhone 4, with Home Sharing turned on (same Wifi network)... it has a very similar message as the Apple TV and same result that despite all devices having HomeShare 'on' they cannot see each other:  "Remote will automatically find the iTunes libraries and Apple TVs that have Home Sharing turned on using the account xxxx (it lists my correct itunes account name)."

I solved this by reset of the Wifi (unplug cable and power to both modem and wifi ... wait 60 sec ... plug in modem cable and power ... plug in wifi power and LAN to modem ... restart AppleTV and Mac ... Turn Home Share 'OFF' in iTunes then back "ON" ... it took ~60 sec for the AppleTV to pick up my Mac in computers.

  • How can I purchase movies available only on iTunes Mexico?

I am in the USA but would like to purchase an iTunes movie that is only available on iTunes Mexico. How can I get an iTunes Mexico account?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
Again, you must have a valid credit card drawn on a Mexican bank with a local address in Mexico to be able to purchase items from the Mexican iTunes Store.

  • Why can't I purchase movies or tv-shows in Norway?

I was wondering why I can't purchase movies or TV-shows from iTunes. I'm from Norway, so my account is registered i Norway. Apple don't sell Apple TV i Norway either. WHY?!

Because Apple doesn't have permission to sell enough movies and TV shows in Norway to open sections for them in its iTunes Store.

  • I can't see any button to purchase movies, music on Itunes Store on my PC (Windows XP SP3). Latest version of Itunes is installed.

I can't see any button to purchase movies, music on Itunes Store

Do you mean that you don't get purchase buttons against items or that those categories don't show on the store homepage ? If the latter then not all content types are available in all countries - a full list of what is available where is shown on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599

  • Can't see purchased movies from itunes on iPad

I can't see the movies I purchased on my iPad. I sync them from itunes. They are on the ipad based on the hard drive space used. But when I tap the ipod icon, I can't see movies or video on the bottom of screen or on the left hand side that would point to the movies.
    Any help?

+If you did download them to your iPad, restart your iPad or try a hard reset.+
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad until the red slider appears, then slide to the right to power off the iPad. Turn the iPad on again by pressing the sleep button until the Apple logo appears. Once the iPad has fully rebooted, find your app, and tap the icon to relaunch.
Try a hard reset by pressing and holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad while holding down on the home button at the bottom, until the Apple logo appears and the iPad restarts. Launch the Videos again and see If the movies are showing.
+If they were downloaded to your computer in iTunes, then do as Philly suggests, sync your iPad to your computer.+
Connect your iPad to the computer, launch iTunes, select your device on the left side in iTunes, click on movies at the top of iTunes, click sync movies, click on the movies that you want to put on the iPad, click apply in the lower right corner in iTunes, then click sync. That will put the movies on your iPad. Open the Videos app and you are good to go.

  • I can't purchase a movie in iTunes Store

For the last couple of days, I've been trying to purchase a movie (or two) from iTunes Store but it seems to lockup every time. I use a Mac mini 2012 computer as a media base and have purchased dozens of movies from the Store over the years onto this unit.
Simply, every time I select a movie's "Buy..." button, I get the spinning beach ball after a couple of seconds and it ends up spinning indefinitely (or at least 2 hours as far as I've allowed it). I tried 2 different movies. I tried logging out/in to iTunes account. I tried restarting Mac mini.
    Nothing has worked so far?
Not sure why this is happening as it's never happened in the past w/ this very set up.

While you can redownload most past purchases without charge, you can't redownload movies without paying again.  See Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
