Can't Put Files

We got new computers at work. I followed the instructions from Adobe to upload our Dreamweaver CS4 onto the new computers however now when I update in the program I can't PUT to the website. Please help

Thanks Curtis but I've not only refreshed the page (multiple times) but I've looked at the site in Interarchy. The files are NOT being uploaded. Since they're just html files whatever progress could be seen is too fast to see. All I know is that in the site window (or whatever it's called in DW - the list of files with the PUT arrow at the top) I highlight a file, click the PUT arrow, it fiddles a bit, then says "File activity complete" at the bottom of the site window.
After searching for a while I finally noticed the tiny little Log button at the bottom right of the site window and clicked it. This is what it says after supposedly uploading a file:
"Started: 10/27/11 9:38 PM
"index.html - Put operation successful
"File activity complete.
"Files updated: 1
"Finished: 10/27/11 9:38 PM"
However, when I check in Interarchy, the time stamp on the file is still 6:58 pm - the time at which I last manually dragged the file up.
As I said - DW *thinks* it's uploaded the file but it hasn't.

Suddenly can't put files to remote server

Hi there,
In Dreamweaver 5.5 (OS 10.7) I suddenly can't put files to the remote server. I've been using Dreamweaver for just over a year and this has never been a problem before. My site is: www.peawitpress.co.uk
The updated files go through the normal process of being "put" to the server (I don't get an error message or anything when synchronising), but when I check the live site the changes don't appear. I've tried refreshing the page and emptying the cache, but nothing seems to work. I've verified that I can connect to my web server and have verified the root directory and they are both fine.
The only thing that is unusual when synchronising is that (for the past day) the six files in the attached screenshot always want to synchronise (even though they haven't been updated). I deleted them from the site and added them again in case they somehow became corrupted, but they still randomly want to synchronise.
Any suggestions? It seems like there would be an easy solution for this, but I can't figure it out. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

This has happened to me a few times in CS6. I think it's a memory thing.
Close DW. Reboot your computer. Open DW.
If you still cannot FTP to server, go to Site > Advanced > Recreate Site Cache.

Can't put files into nested folders in dock

Whenever I try to put a file into a folder I have in my dock, it will only let me put it in the first level of the folder. Ideally, I would want the folder to pop open and show the next level of folders so I can navigate through levels of nested folders to put the file in the exact place I want deep within my folder hierarchy. I know I can hold down Control on a folder in the dock to show my nested folders, but how can I drag files into those nested folders? I thought this was supposed to be automatic in Tiger. Please help.

Yes- Easy!
When you have your Creative Media Explorer open and your portable device connected, you will see your Zen V Series Media Explorer in the SOURCE window in the upper LH corner. Click on the "+" in front of the Zen V Series icon and it will display the list of folders on the device.
Right click on the main folder for the category you want to put the sub folder in and you will get a drop down menu.
Select "New folder" and you will get the "New Folder" box asking you what name you want for your new folder. It's that easy.

Can't put files with FTP

I’m trying to transfer a site with Dreamweaver 8
(Windows) to CrystalTech. I can connect and transfer files okay
with WS_FTP. Hitting the “Test” button in
Dreamweaver’s site definition dialog returns a successful
test. But when uploading the site, the usual progress bar appears
and disappears rapidly, and no files are transferred. There is no
error message. The Dreamweaver FTP log is empty. This is the first
time I have tried to use Dreamweaver’s FTP to transfer a
site, although I have put files over the LAN before. Here is the
site definition remote info:
Access: FTP
FTP host: josephherl.org
Host directory: [blank]
Use passive FTP is checked [as instructed by
CrystalTech’s website]
Under “Server Compatibility,” “Use FTP
performance optimization” is checked, “Use alternative
FTP move method” is unchecked
Edit | Preferences | Site | Firewall port is set to 21
For what it’s worth, the testing server is set up on my
local machine and works fine. The machine is at my university.
I have tried:
using the IP address for the FTP host;
specifying a host directory [CrystalTech’s website
says to leave it blank];
unchecking “Use passive FTP”;
changing the settings under “Server
Compatibility”;
disabling Windows Firewall; and
double-checking that the local root folder is correct.

Can't put files on desktop

For some odd reason I can no longer put files on my desktop. If I take a screen shot, they appear in the desktop folder of the Finder, but they don’t appear on the desktop itself. Nor can I drop files on the desktop. When I try to right- or Control-click on the desktop, nothing happens.
Anyone know the cause of this?

Okay, just found the problem. It was a Tinkertool setting. Not sure how it got set like that, but that was the culprit.

How can I put files inside an empty .zip file with Mac OS X?

Hi all,
I'm learning to produce epub files (i.e., ebooks). I'm told by tutorials that I need to zip several files together, but I must start from a specific file and put that file first into the .zip archive… then the others.
I can't find ways to put files one after another inside a .zip archive using Mac. Anyone can help?

I found the answer by browsing around. There is a nice AppleScript called ePub Zip (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55681) that just works.
I read around that it can be done via Terminal with two commands:
+zip -X0 "full path to new epub file" mimetype+
and
+zip -rDX9 "full path to new epub file" * -x "*.DS_Store" -x mimetype+
I didn't check it though.

How can I put files into the trash without login every time?

Every time I want to put items in the trash, after dragging things to the basket, I have to sign in. Why? Can I set the defaul to allow me to do so without login?

The procedure below will reset the permissions of a user's home folder in OS X 10.7.4 or later, including 10.8 or later. If you're running an earlier version of 10.7, update to the latest version first. This procedure should not be used under OS X versions older than 10.7.4.
Back up all data before you begin.
Step 1
Click the Finder icon in the Dock. A Finder window will open.
Step 2
Press the following key combinations, in the order given:
Command-3
Shift-command-H
Command-I (the letter "I" as in "Info.")
The Info window of your home folder will open.
Step 3
Click the lock icon in the lower right corner and authenticate with the name and login password of an administrator on the system. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Step 4
In the Sharing & Permissions section of the window, verify that you have "Read & Write" privileges. If not, use the "+" and "-" buttons in the lower left corner to make the necessary changes.
Step 5
By default, the groups "staff" and "everyone" have "Read Only" privileges. With those settings, the files at the top level of your home folder will be readable by other local users. You can change the privileges to "No Access" if you wish, but then your Public and Drop Box folders will be inaccessible to others. Most likely, you don't need to change these settings.
Step 6
If there are entries in the Sharing & Permissions list for users or groups other than "me," "staff," and "everyone," delete them.
Step 7
Click the gear icon at the bottom of the Info window and select Apply to enclosed items... from the drop-down menu. Confirm. The operation may take several minutes to complete. When it does, close the Info window.

I can't put files on my external drive.

I use Pogoplug to make my external hard drive available on the internet. Everything worked fine until today. I tried to put a file on the drive and got the following error message:" Items can’t be copied to “Pogoplug” because you don’t have permission to read them." I checked the permissions and they are "Custom" (don't know how that happened). Did research on the web and Apple forum, tried changing with BatchMod and Terminal to no avail. Look for a Backups.backupdb on the hard drive level of your computer and delete it.

You cannot do this through the database. The database server knows nothing about your client PC and cares even less. What you want to do can be done via a straight OS command like FTP. If you want to automate this you'll have to do it through the client.
There are many ways to do it, it depends on your client environment. For insatnce, I'm currently on a project that uses Java to turn client PC files into bitstreams and then inserts them as CLOBs into a database table. Doing something similar in Forms should be a piece of cake with the D2KWUTIL library. Alternatively you could use HOST to initiate a FTP session.

GOTO Finder top of menu bar on desktop....then PREFERENCE......then GENERAL tab.....then check "hard disks".....it will show your EXTERNAL HD on the desktop,....click to open......

I Can`t put files on my server

I have trouble whit send file on my server. Fetch and Capitan FTP stop transfer files after few sec. When I put one big file there is no problem. My router is Linksys WAG54G v.1.

The FLV is 9 MB but I don't think that is too big.

Backed Up to External HD, Now can't put files back to C drive

Before my daughter's computer went in for service, I backed up her Itunes to an external HD. Tonight I moved the "Itunes Music Folder" from the ExHD to C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Administrator\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music, which is where the "preferences" tab says her music is. However, the music in this folder isn't what is on her library when I pull up the library on Itunes.
I tried to consolidate her library, thinking it would "all come together", but it didn't do anything. There has GOT to be an easier way to get this in the library than to copy each folder individually into the library, isn't there? Any assistance is appreciated!

Sounds like the music is back on the C drive, but iTunes does not know about it. Use the command File > Add Folder to Library, and point it to the iTunes Music folder.
(For future reference, next time copy the whole iTunes folder. It includes the iTunes Music folder and also the library files that would tell iTunes where the music is.)
