Can't put notes on my ipod video?

I have an Ipod Video, I don't know if that's what it's actually called or not, I got it about four years ago.
Anyway, I've been trying for a while now to put .txt files on my ipod in the Notes category and can't seem to get it to work. I've been through all the manuals and instructions and FAQ's and tried everything, and every time I drag a txt file to my ipod icon it says "your text document was not copied to the ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod." is there some way I can fix this?

Hello hagena,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you made sure you have "enabled disk use" on your iPod? If not, this article explains how to do that. You need to do this first before you can copy notes to your iPod.
[Using your iPod as a storage drive|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1478?viewlocale=en_US]
Are you sure you are dragging the text file to the Notes folder of your iPod through Windows explorer? You will need to open up Computer and then navigate to your iPod's drive icon. Double click on it and then double click on the Notes folder within it. That is where you should be dragging these files.
Hope this helps.

I just PAID for Black eyed peas Time of my life and now iTunes says I can't put it on my iPod 5th gen ? What? Why? And how can I get it on my ipod? And if I can't put it on my ipod how do I get my money back? I registered my ipod on iTunes, why was a song I can't put on my ipod even offered to me? What a rip?

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
    - Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
    - Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.

  • How do i put notes into my ipod

i need to put notes in the ipod because i loose sometimes notes at home . how do i put notes in ipod

To put notes on to your iPod, make sure you set your iPod to manually managing your music and video. Afterwards, you can use Windows Explorer to access it, just find your iPod in the devices, double-click and there should be a folder called "Notes". The only files it allows are .txt. On your iPod, the notes folder can be accessed from Main Menu > Extras > Notes. Hope that helps.

  • I can't put songs in my ipod

i can't put songs in my ipod
    the song are already mp3

Are you getting any error messages? How is your iPod set to update? If you are trying to drag songs to it make sure it's in manual update mode and not set automatically update.
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

    1. In your word-processing application or program of choice, either type a new note for yourself (such as a shopping list, to-do list, or other notes), or copy text from a source (a recipe, email message, song lyrics, or the like) and paste it into your document.
    2. Save your document as a plain text (.txt) file.
    3. Connect your iPod to your computer.
    4. If you haven't already set your iPod for disk use (skip this step if you have), enable this feature by doing the following:
    1. Open iTunes, then open iTunes preferences (Mac users, choose Preferences from the iTunes menu; Windows users, on the Edit menu, click Preferences).
    2. Click the iPod tab, then click the Music tab in the iPod pane.
    3. Select the "Enable disk use" checkbox, then click OK.
    5. Open your iPod volume that appears on your desktop (Mac) or in My Computer (Windows) to display three folders: Calendars, Contacts, and Notes.
    6. Drag your text file to the Notes folder on your iPod to add it.

  • Old computer died, got a new computer, can i put whats on my ipod...

Old computer died, got a new computer, can i put whats on my ipod now into my library on my new computer?
I have looked at the "how to" for transfering a library to a new computer but that seems to be how to do it if your old computer is still working and you have the luxury of planning to move the library.
All I have from the music that was on my old computer is what is already synced into my ipod right now. Can/How do i get this into the iTunes I just downloaded???????

There's an answer to your question but first it's time for a bit of a lecture - if it makes a difference, I don't feel any better about this than you do. : - (
I hope you take this unfortunate state of affairs as an opportunity to learn a very important lesson: Back up your iTunes library as soon as you can after resolving this situation because right now you are only one glitch of your iPod away from losing your music entirely.
Many people come to the Discussions having lost their music in just such situations and, believe me, it's not a happy time for anyone.
Anyways, that's the lecture. You should find a resolution to your problem in this article at wired.com.
Good Luck! But once you have the music back on your computer, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!
    P.S.
If you want to get a bit of a "bigger picture" on back-ups, you might want to make yourself a cup of tea and have a look at this article on the PC World web site and this Microsoft support page .

  • I need help with putting notes on the ipod nano!!!!... HELP!!!...

I have no clue how to even go about putting notes on the ipod nano but i allways get lost!!! I just got it and i need some big time help !!!
    thanks so much

1 - Ok, to put notes onto your nano, you'll first need to enable it for disk mode. When it's plugged in, go into iTunes, and open up iPod preferences. Check the "Enable disk use" box.
2 - In your Windoze file browser (what you click on files in), locate your iPod, which should be located in My Computer. Open that up, and locate the notes folder. That is where you can put any notes, in the form of text files, that you want.
3 - Make the notes. iPods only recognize plain text and html files. So, when you open the text file up in a word processor, make sure to save it as a plain text file (.txt extension). Then, just drag it onto your iPod.
In disk mode, your iPod will need to be ejected before you unplug it from your computer. Right click on it (in your My Computer folder) and click "Eject"

  • Which hard drives can I put in my 120gb ipod classic? 30gb, 60gb, 80gb or only a 120gb?

which hard drives can I put in my 120gb ipod classic? 30gb, 60gb, 80gb or only a 120gb?

Physically, the small capacity hardisk (60,80) are thicker at 8mm,
while the 120gb is thinner at 5mm,
    there are some thin hardrive 30 GB (MK3006GAL), 60GB (MK6015GAL) and 80GB (MK8022GAA).
The firmware 2.0 should be able to handle upto 160GB.hardrive.
However the difficulty, is opening the iPod case, and getting the thin hardrive or else your iPod case wont close, better stick to 120GB.
