Can't Re-Install/Delete iTunes To Go Back To v11.0.4

I have been having Apple "permission" repair issues with the newer OS10.8.5 update, and want to re-install my previous iTunes version (v11.0.4 or 11.0.5). When I try to remove the existing 11.1.4 version (that has the permission repair issues), I am not allowed to simply place the 11.1.4 app in the trash and delete, as I get the following pop-up window:
When I also try to lauch the iTunes 11.0.5 installer package, I then get this:
I have swapped out my "Users > Music > iTunes folder" with a previous back-up version iTunes folder from my external HD back-up of OS 10.8.4 and iTunes 11.04 in the same exact same iTunes folder.
However, I just can't get rid of the existing iTines 11.1.4 version in my "HD > Applications Folder"
Any tips on how to re-install a previous version of iTunes would be appreciated .... or atleast on how to delete my current iTunes 11.1.4 vesrion, so I can replace it with a previous version 11.0.4.
I can't believe this is what I have to do, becsause of a simple "one step" upgrade to OS 10.8. Apple lately, seems to be making things harder and harder for many of us to deal with in keeping OS 10.8 running, and wasting a lot of our time fixing these simple issues that should not be the problems they are.
Thank you

Well found this waiting .....
Is this the only or best way to remove/re-install iTunes?

Downloading and installing iTunes will not fix this problem. If the other troubleshooting steps do not work, go to the Control Panel and uninstall iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Services, Quicktime and any other Apple program that might be present. Reboot your computer, then download and install the latest version of iTunes.

i have download the lates iTunes version but when i want to install it,
    The error message is :
really appreciate the answers and help.
    thank you

You also can try this steps posted in another forum:
Are you running Kaspersky security software on that PC? (There's been a few reports in recent times of Kaspersky interfering with iTunes installs, with that message being produced.)
If there is Kaspersky on board, we should try some general-principles getting-past-security-software-interference troubleshooting.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit installer file) or iTunes64Setup.exe to your Hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.

  • Why can't Apple install an iTunes Visualizer option??

Why can't Apple install an iTunes Visualizer option to the screen saver, instead of the iPhoto slideshow??  I don't always want pictures moving over the screen, and especially when I'm listening to the music channels. Having such a large format for the iTunes Visualizer would be . . . you know, cool.

I totally agree and would love to see that option! I think the best way to tell Apple these things would be at http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html though.

  • Can I un-install iOS 8 and go back to iOS 7.1 on my 5s?

Can I un-install iOS 8 and go back to iOS 7.1 on my 5s?

YMMV:  You have been warned that some are successful,  others apparently are not.  I approached it very methodically and ended up with a successful downgrade.  I offer this only to those that are stuck, and for work reasons need their phone to work,  don't want to keep trouble shooting and re-installing IOS8.
I used an official Apple supplied copy of the 7.1.2 ipsw and would not do otherwise.
Below is best explanation I found.  Keep in mind you cannot restore from an IOS8.0 backup if you are successful going back to 7.1.2.  In other words,  any text messages / photo messages, data,  photo's and videos that you haven't put up onto the icloud need to be saved somewhere if you want access to them after downgrade.  I also hope you have a good backup of your old 7.1.2 IOS prior to your move to 8.0.
If you don't have an old 7.1.2 pre IOS8  backup stop now.
    Read  CAREFULLY.

  • Can't re-instal Tiger (OSX 10.4). backe

I was running OSX 10.4 on my Macbook Pro. I severely damaged my system by (I assume) attempting to restore from a faulty backup. Having tried to recover by less drastic means, I finally decided to erase the disk and restore OSX 10.4 from the install DVD. I tried to boot from the install DVD, but failed. I loaded the install DVD into the drawer and tried booting with the 'c' key pressed (it hung with the clock icon turning), and tried booting with the 'alt' key pressed, but the DVD was not offered as a boot option. I then booted from a 10.4 system on an external firewire attached drive (under which I am currently operating). The install DVD then showed up in Finder, and I clicked on the 'Instal Mac OS X' icon. This produced a message saying "OS X 10.4 cannot be installed on this machine. Please consult the documentation for a list of supported Macintosh computers".
I assume I must somehow have modified some bit of ROM. How do I recover?
    Nigel Martin

Thanks, your question made me realise my mistake. I have 3 machines running OS X 10.4, and thought I needed only to keep the one copy of OSX 10.4 install. But prompted by your question, I tried out the install disk on another machine, a happily working intel iMac, and got the same message. So I looked at the "Read Before You Install" file, and find that it is for PowerMacs only. Annoying.
I hope I can find the install disk that came with my MacBook Pro, but I see from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10194423&#10194423 that I can get a replacement (at a price).
    Thanks for the penetrating question.

  • Can't update or delete iTunes

I have a Toshiba Satelite laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit). I have been trying unsuccessfully to update iTunes, iCloud Control Panel and Quicktime. I even tried to delete these programs before installing the updates, but nothing. I keep receiving the following message no matter what I do:
"Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\20e765.rbf Verify that you have access to that directory."
I own the laptop and have administrative priveleges in Windows. I don't understand why I am receiving this error message. Can anyone help? This is FRUSTRATING!!!
    Thanks,

  • I can't update or delete iTunes on my Windows 8.1 laptop

Every time iTunes tries to install an update I get an error; "The feature you are trying to us is on a network resource that is unavailable. click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes64.msi' in the box below."
iTunes is installed on my computer, and it works, but I cannot get updates. I tried uninstalling, repairing, and reinstalling iTunes and got the same error message.
    Can someone help? Thanks!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
If you cannot remove a component move on to the next one, then delete the named folders. Once you have done that and rebooted you should be able to reinstall.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Can't Update or Delete Itunes 10.1.0.54

For some reason I can't update Itunes 10.1.0.54 to the latest version.  I get an error that says:
       Could not open key:
       HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.mpg\OpenWithProgIds
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel
I get the same error if I try to uninstall Itunes.  I have seen some similar posts here but none of them seem to help.  I'm gathering that there is a registry error but I'm not sure of what I'm supposed to look for.  I've used regedit to navigate to:
    My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.mpg\OpenWithProgIds
Now I'm not sure what I'm looking for.  It looks like I have full permission for the key.  There are 2 entries.  The first is named (Default) which is of type REG_SZ with Data of (value not set).  The second is named QuickTime.mpg of type REG_NONE and Data of (zero-length binary value).  If anyone has a clue what to do I would be very appreciative.  Thanks in advance.

    That is weird.
I think we'd better try to get the malware possibilities off the table with this one now. (Unusually old-fashioned sorts of errors associated with other weirdnesses get me a bit worried about that sort of thing.)
Try downloading and installing the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and then run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hour on my Lenovo.)
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Does the scan find any infections? If so, please paste the contents of the log file for the scan in a reply here so we can have a look.

  • How can I tell if my iTunes library is backed up onto the Cloud?

I'm concerned about my iTunes library accidentally being deleted (after an incident in which I deleted an entire genre, then retrieved it from my trash can) and I would like to make sure all my music is backed up safely so I can retrieve it if this happens again. I'm not really sure how the Cloud works, so if someone could explain it to me that would be great. (Or if you think there is a better way to keep my library secure)

Drag the entire iTunes library to an external drive. The cloud stores some iTunes Store purchases(which types depend on your country) as long as they remain available in the iTunes Store. If you've subscribed to iTunes Match, it'll store music from other sources as well.

  • How can I get my  complete iTunes library list back?

I just downloaded a song from the iTunes Music Store. I don't know what I did, but now my screen only shows two recordings of the same song.
    1. I want my library screen to show ALL of my songs, preferably in alphabetical order, if that is possible.
    2. I want the songs to play in the order in which they are on the screen, if that is possible. How can I do this?

The browser is very useful to find stuff.
You can click in genre, Artist or Album and start to
type what you're looking for. Or click on a song and
    start to type.
Also, the Search box in the upper right
I'm learning some little tricks, but the most important thing for me is to have All of the songs in one list. I now know how to do this when something happens to change this setting. Other than this, I admit that there are times that I want to see all of the songs asociated with one particular artist. I can now do that also. As to "genre" or "album," I have no interest. "Genre" seems to be a very subjective classification. I wish iTunes didn't have all of their unnecessary and subjective classifications. All I need are artists and songs, and I find them unnecesarily difficult to find in the iTunes Music Store, but that's another story.
As to the search feature, I knew about it, but it only works when you don't have your songs broken down into so many categories. One list, that's all I need. "Most popular," "top 25," etc. are unnecesary and unwanted complications.
