Can't re-install download helper

Video download helper was uninstalled while my computer was being worked on. I re-installed it but now I don't have the download helper icon that you put on the toolbar. It is not on my toolbar nor in the toolbars option folder.
How can I get the download icon to put on my toolbar so that it will work?
Thanks,
Diane

I think in some other threads it was discovered that some extensions interfere with other extensions adding their icons to the toolbar. If you have other extensions which are not essential and you could live without them for 24 hours, try disabling them here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any difference?

  • When I try to install download helper I am told to restart firefox. I do, and go back to the same "restart firefox" message.

I have tried to install "download helper" as a Firefox add-on. I hit the install button, but then get a box telling me to restart firefox. I do, but end up at the same page with the same "restart firefox" message everytime I try to install "download helper."

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to do a compatibility check or see if there is a compatibility update available.

  • Error Message When Installing Download Helper 4.8.2 Add-On

I've updated to Firefox 3.6.13. The Add-on tab shows that there are add-on updates to be installed. When I download these flash download updates (Download Helper and Flash Video Downloader) and then try to install them I get an error message saying they can't be installed due to an "error in parsing value" message, "declaration dropped." All other updates are fine.
Any idea what may be the problem?

  • I can't to get Download Helper to load and run, It says its there but nothing happens

Our OS is Windows Vista and we have ff v. 27 running. I try to add Download Helper and don't have any success. When I click add, It says its installed and I can get the little circle icon in the toolbar. When I open a video nothing happens. Am I not installing properly. BTW, I'm a total dummy on this computer.

I've used this extension on Youtube from time to time. An icon appears next to the title of the video, below the player, and I click that. I'm not sure how it works on other sites. (Sometimes the icon is missing, but I see a little downward pointing triangle. In that case, I reload the page.)
Does the add-on publisher offer support on its site, or just the manual and FAQ?

  • Can't kill iMovie download - help!

Very strange situation. I seem to have 2 distinct iMovie downloads in progress and they resist all attempts to kill them. Launchpad shows alternating progress below the iMovie icon for the 2 download processes (they are at different stages of the download). In Launchpad, I'm able to use the ALT button (windows-style keyboard) to display the "jiggling icons" with X for cancel, and then click the X for iMovie. I'm prompted to see if I want to delete app "iMovie", and agree, then nothing happens. Maybe because it's not yet actually installed. Nowhere can I find a way to interrupt and cancel these downloads. They've survived shutdowns, exiting the App store, etc., and still they remain in progress. They're actually making progress, so maybe worst case I wait until they're done and then remove iMovie. I opened a shell and looked for the offending process, but nothing obvious. I'm doing all this in an acct with admin authority. It boggles my mind that one can't interrupt a download! Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance....

I'd disconnect from the Internet until you figure it out.
No idea myself, but maybe you can find the files with...
    Find Any File...
    http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/
Hold Option or alt key when selecting Find to Find All.
Search for Date Modified: Last 5 minutes or whatever, then sort on size maybe?

  • I recently installed download helper but it took 2 attempts. I had to buy the conversion licence twice. How do I get 1 of the charges canceled?

Just bought a new computer. Had Download helper on it and wanted to add the conversion license. I had to go through the process 2 times for it to work and was charged 2 times. How do I get one of the charges canceled. I did go through PayPal.

You need to contact the developer and explain to him what happened.
There is usually no need to convert video files. There are lots of players that can play the files directly, so unless you really need to recode the file in another format then it shouldn't be necessary.

  • Since Mavericks installed Download Helper no longer works with YouTube

Download helper now downloads empty files with no content, in both .flv and .mp4 formats.

You can contact the Add-on manager for that.

  • Why can't I use download helper in FF v26?

using FF v25, download helper worked fine downloading videos from you-tube etc. After updating to v26, download helper no longer works at all. It still shows up on the add-on bar, but downloads empty files?

edmeister, thanks for replying. I don't know about v.27. I am afraid to try it as every new version seems to ruin more & more existing add-ons. Matter of fact, I have disabled update notifications, and am thinking about going back to v.25.

  • Why can't I install downloaded Acrobat XI Pro onto Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Downloaded Adobe XI Pro. Will not install on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit pc. Keep getting message that the program is 32 bit and not compatible. I can only assume that the exe file is trying to load Acrobat into the 64 bit "Program File" folder rather than the "Program Files (x86)" folder reserved for 32 bit applications. What can I do? Try another download? Download the trial and use the serial number that I got? Can I force the exe file to load into the (x86) folder? Appreciate your help.

    Pat,
A folder has been downloaded to my desktop. The folder contains 2 files. One file, "Adobe Professional XI Windows (Download) Keys.html" contains the key. The other file is "Acrobat Pro_11_Web_WWMUI.exe".  When double clicking this file, I get the error message "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of of Windows that you are running. Determine the version of Windows, 32 bit or 64 bit, and contact the software supplier for the correct 32 bit or 64 bit version." No installation.

  • Acrobat XI Pro - can't re-install/download after uninstalling due to login problem

I have had CS6 via Creative Cloud for a few months now and the last couple of days when I've opened Acrobat XI Pro it says it's installed on another machine and I need to log in. I log in and it says it's a mis-matched ID, even though it's not.
This is a work computer/licence and is only installed on this machine under my name. We thought it may be confused because we've got a few licences and there was a big confusion and muck up with Adobe when we first ordered and downloaded, and my boss is using his on his work and home computers. So I uninstalled Acrobat and thought I would be able to just go to the Application Manager and download/install again, but it's not available to download, I guess it thinks I've already got it. Can't do it via https://creative.adobe.com/apps either.
I have no problems like this with the other programs; Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
How can I get Acrobat again?
    Thanks

A restore won't get rid of the problem!!! **** crappy ****.
Is there anyway to send this question too Apple? Or do i have to spend the next hours on the phone with Apple Support?!

  • Why does Firefox regularly lose my add-ons and I have to reset and re-install (Download helper, Status-4-evar, Google Lite)

I lose the add-ons when Firefox automatically upgrades to the latest version but this is not the only time. It may work for 5-10 days without a problem then without warning or error, it just losess the add-ons, upgrade or no upgrade. This is most annoying as they will not re-download and re-install and all I can do is reset Firefox then re-customise the browser again to my look and feel, then have to download and re-install these add-ons again. It seems like I am doing this continually over and over again.

Thanks Cor-el but I am with azgirl7 that trying to follow the instructions is not easy. I have had some success by copying all my profiles from C:\Users\Brendan (my name) \AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles to a spare folder I have created. When Firefox updates or changes, I delete the profiles and copy them back from the spare folder. But this does not work every time. All in all, it is very time consuming and one that Mozilla should have an easier method to protect as well restore.

  • Retail Copy of Acrobat XI Standard can't be installed! Help!

I purchased a retail copy of Acrobat XI Standard, without realizing my all-in-one 20" tablet/desktop pc didn't have a disk drive. Now I need to be able to download a copy, but since i got it at the local computer store, and not online at Adobe.com, I dont have any history in my adobe account, under "my order history," that would alow me to click on the link to download. I did manage to get the copy registered to my account, but i need to get a downloadable copy, somehow. can anyone help me?

"owners of CS2 or earlier, should download the non-activation version of CS2 from that link"  the link though says, "You can use the serial numbers provided as a part of the download only if you legitimately purchased CS2, CS2 applications, Acrobat 7, or Audition 3."   It says CS2 but not CS, does that mean i couldn't use that link?
CS owners are happily downloading and using CS2 via that link.
Adobe has made no other option possible for owners of "activation required" versions earlier than CS2 so CS2 is your only option regardless of the wording at the link..
Does that in a sense mean no matter what CS copy you buy it will eventually be shut down and your access to it will be cut off even if you had bought it when it was still working?
No-one knows the future of deactivation of existing products. In the history of activation, Adobe has only ever shut down an activation server once (CS2) and made an alternative possible for owners of that version.
Activation is Adobe's inherently flawed attempt to curb casual piracy. It was always going to fail eventually. It only ever hurts legitimate owners of the software. The Cloud is Adobe's next gen anti-piracy measure.
I'm extremely repulsed by the idea of having to pay a monthly fee for CC and would rather pay a flat (but realistic) price for the CS, but will go to photoshop CC if there is no other choice because an online workshop classes program i'm looking to sign up for requires either photoshop CS or CC (but strongly discourages elements).
You can still purchase CS6 Creative Suite 6
If you're signing up for online classes, I would suspect they expect you to be running either CS6 or Cloud versions of the software.
Learning Photoshop online using 11 year old software sound like a recipe for confusion and frustration.

  • When I open a document from a website in the browser a copy is saved automatically by download helper even if I just want to view.

When I click to view a word, excel, PDF or other file on a website I am presented with a window that says
"you have chosen to open ........etc What should Firefox do with this file?
    Open with
    Save file....."
If I choose the option "Open with" the file opens and I can view the file but the file is automatically downloaded and saved. I then have to navigate to the folder on my hard drive by right clicking on the item in the downloads window, selecting open containing folder and then physically deleting the file. If I don't do this then the containing folder saves the unwanted downloaded file.
Do I have a setting wrong/how can I stop Firefox/download helper from automatically downloading files I only want to view?

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
