Can't read back saved raw PCM file

I used Audition 1.5 to do a 48kHz 32bit 2 channel recording and then I saved the file as raw PCM and now I can't read it back into Audition. When I enter the values it was recorded with I get an empty recording (but the right length of it). Anyone have an idea?

Yep, pretty much unless you know the exact size and can correctly fill out the required dialogs required to open a Photoshop "raw" file. The "raw" format is not, as you've found out related at ALL to Camera Raw. It's really a holder over format from the early years used back when there weren't some file formats available on some computer systems...and yes, you SHOULD have used TIFF.

  • I can't read Nikon D5200 Raw NEF files with CS6 under Windows 8.1?

I bought a new PC so I could use Photoshop CS6 more efficiently.  However, after I installed CS6, I can't read Nikon D5200 Raw NEF files under Windows 8.1.  I've tried updating CS6, but nothing seems to work.

First, I hadto load the most recent version of  the Adobe Application Manager.  Then I could see all of the CS6 Updates including the most recent Camera Raw update.
I had to run one update at a time for it to work correctly.
But now I'm cooking with gas.
    Thanks for your help.

After updating os to OSX 10.9.1 I can't open any new pdf files.  I get a message saying It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognise. I can still read older saved files but no new ones arriving by email.  Also can't attach a pdf to an email to send out.  Any help would be appreciated.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Can I directly back up my itunes files to an external hard drive? To save my internal hard drive.

Can I directly back up my itunes files to an external hard drive? To save my internal hard drive.

If your intent is to remove the songs from your computer's internal drive you don't want to manually move them because iTunes won't know where they are. The safe way to perform this move is to start iTunes, open iTunes Preferences, and select the advanced tab. Plug in the external drive if it isn't already.
Using the picture above as a guide, (1) click on the Change button and select your external hard drive. (I created a Music folder on my external drive because I keep more than just music on it). 2) Click to put checkmarks in the boxes marked (2) and (3) and then click on the Ok button. This sets the stage for copying the music to your external drive and will make sure all your new music is put there as well.
The last step is to select the File menu, choose Library, and then Consolidate Library. This actually moves the music. Depending on how large your music library is and the speed of your external drive this will take a few minutes to a few hours.

The same with email messages ,

    Anybody with a good suggestion?

Do not use MS Word for Mac, it does not support Arabic.  Instead use Mellel, TextEdit, Nisus Writer or OpenOffice.  Try the font Geeza Pro if others do not work.
What are you using to read email?
What are you using to read powerpoint?

  • Can I read and search a PDF file on my IPAD

Can I read and search a PDF file on my IPAD??

Several apps will allow you to work with PDFs. iBooks will handle them, but there have been a few issues reported about using it for that purpose. My guess is it depends on the size and complexity of the file. Adobe has a reader in teh app store (free). Goodreader is an option, and provides functionality for searches.

  • Can Lr5 read Nikon D610 raw picture?

Hi, I downloaded Lr5 and installedt, but it can' t read Nikon D610 raw picture, why? hope for help, thanks!

The D610 is a very new camera.  The next version of LR, 5.3, will support it; however, you can download the release-candidate from Adobe Labs, and use that while waiting for the final release:

  • I can't read back what I wrote (to a file)

I wrote a very large file (over several hundred hours) in textual form; each line is a long, output using toHexString() like this:
    2092cc0ca723ec80
    2092cc0ce463ec80
    2092cc0d14a3ec80

    2092cc0d15a3ed00
    2092cc0d16e3ec80
    ... etc ...
I then tried to read the numbers back into another Java program using Long.parseLong(str, 16), but I get a NumberFormatException when I get about 1million lines in. This is where the lines begin with an _8_ (in hex):

You're absolutely right. I think this is the reason that Java will never become widely used, ...
Did you actually just claim that Java's popularity implies that it cannot contain design flaws?Sure, why not. I mean we all know that Java is perfect. God forbid, I've never seen anything wrong with Java in the past 10 years.
Wow indeed! Why didn't they put it to the standard API. Businesses all around the world are parsing 64-bit hex values from files!!!
Did you actually just insinuate that Java's principle purpose is to support business applications? I guess that's why the standard library doesn't support things like graphics, sound, networking, etc.And yet you're only reading hex Strings from a file. All those sweet graphics and sound classes for nothing...
Do you spend a lot of your time insulting people who complain that the lack of unsigned longs makes it hard to parse network addresses? It's not like anyone ever does that on a computer, right?Do you spend a lot of your time rewriting things in C when a programming language fails you in the parsing department?

  • Back saving illustrator CC file to CS6 without losing layers?

How can I back save illustrator files created in CC (CS7 version???) to CS6 without losing layers?  when I open the files in CS6 it says "some info will be lost'   Ha!  all layers and separation is lost, so cannot separate parts... whole file seems grouped and cannot be separated???
When I go back to my (other) computer where I was foolish enought to upgrade to CC, I cannot figure a way to save back as I can with InDesign and saving as a idml file.  Help!

    Hi, M
Thanks for the reply... what do you mean by the 'second' dialog box... do you mean the Format box?
I am on a mac mini with Illustrator CS6 and do not want to load Illustrator CC to it (too many problems)
but have Illustrator CC on my laptop (now at home, not with me) where the files were created on it.  I saved the files to a flash to work on my mini while away... but encounter problems if I just open the CC files in CS6.
So... I am trying to explain to my husband (at home with the laptop) how to save the needed files 'back' for me so that they open fully and safely in CS6.... but doing it sort of 'blind' thus I need very specific, step by step instuctions and to explain to him exactly what each box or choice is named.
Sorry it is so hard, but he is not computer literate.  Adobe help said to do the following:
click on save as, then click on save, then you get window where at top is an option for a dropdown window and it has a 'default version 17' which then gives another dropdown with options to backward save as CS6 or CS5.
That 'save as' then 'save' seemed strange (to an illustrator and InDesign user) as did the 'default version 17' part.
In CS6 the save as Format box only offers ai, eps, ait, pdf, fxg, svgz, and svg.... nothing that sounds like the .idml of InDesign backsaving....  I as about to call home and try to walk him thru the above, blind... when got your email which sounded more hopeful.
Can you be more specific as to what  to look closely at?  Thanks so much!

  • How can I get back the default system files icons to my fles?

    Hello,
After installing an application like FontExplorer, all my fonts got it's icon.
I went to a font, selected and did get info, I tried to delete the icon but could not.
I know the default icons for OTF fonts and an italic O, half green, half black.
How can I get those Icons back,
    Or in general,
When files gets an application icons, how can I restore the default icons for files?
    Thank you
    Shlomit

Icons in the Get Info pane can be changed back to the original icon by clicking on the icon once, to highlight it, and then pressing Control X (for cut).
But in your case the font icon is probably more due to the association with the application selected to open it with, ie FontExplorer. So with the Get Info pane open for a selected font type you need to change which application you use to open it with. For example, if you select one of the OTF fonts and do a Get Info, in the Open With pane it will show FontExplorer. Change this to Font Book and it should change its default icon.

  • Using Lab view ver 6,How can I read a cell of excel file right after I write to it

How can I read a specif cell of an Excel file using Labview VI.

    Hi,
Attached is a LV6.1 VI which will read a cell.
It will be looking for a sub VI found in the example C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW\examples\comm\ExcelExamples.llb.
The returned value is a string value but there is no reason why it couldn't be a number. Just connect a numeric to the type connector of the Variant to Data function.
    Hope this helps.
