Can't read my AOL mail ? When I open a email it goes straight to Bing search..... Help

when i click on email. It opens as to read then clears and Bing Search comes up

They are the same use your email address as your userid so it will know for instance whether it is MSN or HOTMAIL. I think that change was made a few years ago, yes when I went to Verizon DSL and then Verizon FiOs (Fiber).

  • I just downloaded firefox4. When I open it up it goes to the google search page. What's going on?

I can't get to the fire fox start page. When I open fire fox it goes to google.

    PPC Macs can't run 10.7.5.
What are you running, and what do you mean by your home page?    Is it the web browser itself, or are you talking the first screen you seen when the machine boots?   Do you have a specific startup application?

  • I can't read my AOL mail . I used to be able to but now for about a week, I can't

I have AOL and I can't read my mail. I can see all the different emails that I have but when I click on one to read it, it won't come up. This has been happening for about a week. I even deleted firefox and reloaded it but I have the same problem.

When will there be a "fix" for this? Maybe I should change browsers.

I don't mind having firefox as a homepage. Currently, I have had problems with IE and my yahoo email. It cleared itself up. Like I said before, everytime I try to open a email message the only thing that comes up in the email box is Bing Search., and I can't read my mail. I can select forward and it will come up. Pease help!

Where did you get iDVD to put on your Mac?  The downloading themes are no longer available from Apple. If you copied it from a Mac that had all the themes look for the iDVD folder on that Mac which should be in the HD/Library/Applications Support folder or the Users/Home/Library/Applications Support folder.  Copy it to the HD/Library/Applications Support folder for Mt Lion.
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • When i open i-photo, it goes straight to browsing, and won't stop

i photo, when i open it goes to browsing (spinning circle) and it won't go any further than this,?

Okay this is really really important.
It's a list - think of it this way, it's the answer to a question: "What images are on my computer"
The thing about deleting things from there is that you don't know the importance of whatever it is you're trashing. So, really, don't do that. No, really.
Once the photos are in iPhoto you can delete them - but go to the location where you have them stored and delete them from there. That way you won't do any damage...

  • When I open any email, it goes into the trash.  Why?

Why does my email always go straight to my trash and not open in newbmail?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • How do I get Firefox to open a blank website when I open a new tab and not this "Bing" search engine page?

Whenever I open a blank tab I'm taken to some page where I can search the web with a search engine called Bing. This isn't a major problem but it causes a LOT of annoyance since the cursor is right in the search engine box and not in the address bar like before. Like I said, not a major problem, just annoying and I'd like it fixed if I can.

    Thank you,

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:

An embedded tiff file sent via aol mail will not open in firefox. If it is sent by gmail it will.
If it is sent by aol to IE 11 it will open. ??????

    <blockquote>
Firefox can't handle TIFF files internally.
You will have to open the file in an external application or install a plugin like AlternaTIFF.

  • AOL mail does not open PDFs on iPad mini

I have AOL mail set up on an iPad mini. I live in a retirement community and we get frequent notices from the staff by email.  Many of these notices come as PDF attachments.  When I open these emails, the icon for the attachment immediately goes into download mode, then after a few seconds it changes into a icon labelled "winmail.dat".  When I tap that icon, nothing opens and I am offered AirDrop or Mail ... as if I wanted to share it with someone.
I have reset the entire iPad, and resetup the AOL mail. Same problem.  I took the iPad into my local Apple store and they suspected hardware problems and gave me a new iPad.  I set it up from scratch (the backup would not work!), and resetup the AOL mail again.  But, same situation on the PDF attachements from my retirement community staff.
Note: PDF attachemnts from other people seem to work OK, which makes me suspect some combination of my iPad AOL email and the retirement community's email process.
Does anybody have an idea on what is going on here, or possible next steps?

    Jazcan,
Thx for the references.  It appears that the solution may be to UNCHECK "Send to this recipient in Microsoft rich text format" checkbox in OUTLOOK.  But, we are unable to find this checkbox.  Any guidance on where it might be in OUTLOOK?

  • When I open my email in the text box it doesn't show anything until i hit the forward button.  Can anyone help?

When I open my email in the text box it doesn't show anything until i hit the forward button.  Can anyone help?

See if any of the following help.
Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Terrance Devlin answered a question about iPhoto (4-2012) re:copying iPhoto Library to an ExHD, and losing all the albums. I can't locate the "Choose Library" when I open iPhoto with the opt button. Can anyone help?

I tried to move my images (over 25,000) to an External Hard drive to open up some memory, hoping to make my computer run faster. It took three hours to move the images and I see them all in the mac's menus. However when I try to open them with iPhoto now, none appeared. and when I tried to import them back to the main HD they come in to iPhoto just fine, but not with the albums nor any of the massive organization i'd created in the original. this represents years of images, and I can't imagine that I'd have to recopy them into folders/albums again.
Terrance Devlin answered a similar question back in April of last year. He said to make sure the ExHD is formatted to MAC OS Extended (Journaled) and to move the library to the ExHD and then open iPhoto with the option button and select "Choose Library" from the resulting menu.
Command "I" tells me that the new drive is formatted correctly. I can't locate the "Choose Library" when I open iPhoto with the opt button.
First, I wondered if the application needs to be on the same drive as the Library. I sure would like to know if I can find out how to restore all the folders I had them in. Terrance's advice helped the user that had asked the question.

Can anyone help? I'm using iPhoto 5. My MAC is an OS X version 10.4.11.
    thanks, brokenlom

    Here are Apple's instructions:
If you are using iPhoto ’06 or earlier, you will need to follow these steps to tell iPhoto where the Library is now located:
Hold down the Option key on the keyboard and open iPhoto. Keep the Option key held down until you are prompted to create or choose an iPhoto Library.
    Click Choose Library.
Locate and select the iPhoto Library in its new location.
    (from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1229 )
Below (in the link below) is what you should see when holding down the option key and opening iPhoto. Keep holding down the option key until this dialogue comes up. You want to select the Choose Library button.

To change the iCloud ID on your phone you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains.
*Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu bar.
Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images
*Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
*If an image in the list is grayed and "<i>Block Images from...</i>" has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain.
Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the <b>permissions.default.image</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page should be 1.
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.
