Can't read scanned document

While I was trying to print a scanned doc., It asked for a program to use like Paint, Word Pad etc....   I chose Word Pad and everything I scan come out as hypertext gibberish.  How do I change that!

Hi lill2u,
It is recommended that you scan the document using the MP Navigator and then edit and save the document using Notepad.  Once in Notepad you can copy and paste the document into your Word document.  To do this, please follow these steps:
 1.  Click Start, select All Programs, Canon Utilities, MP Navigator EX then click on MP Navigator EX to open that program.
 2.  Place your item to be scanned face down on the scanner.
 3.  Click the One Click button in the upper right hand corner.
 4.  In One Click mode, please click the OCR button.
 5.  When the OCR dialog box appears, make any necessary changes and then click the green SCAN button.
 6.  The document will be scanned.
Once scanning is complete, Notepad will open and you will be able to edit and save the text.

  • Can't read Appleworks documents

Great--I just got a new computer (minus Appleworks) How can I read .cwk documents? Are they just toast?
I just downloaded iMovie HD so I can use it in addition to iMovie 08. Can I download Appleworks to use it to open old stuff?
Is there any applications I can use? Most of my documents are word processing.

No, you can't download AppleWorks legally. You will need to purchase it. But, AppleWorks 6.2.4 & 6.2.9 run very well on all Macs running OS X, including Leopard.
Pages, part of iWork, can open AppleWorks 6 word processing documents. Also, AppleWorks 6 spreadsheets & presentations can be opened by Numbers & Keynote, the other applications in iWork '08.

  • How can I read a document created under "pages" on a Mac book air on an other computer

How can I read a document created under "pages" on a Mac book air on an other computer or even send this document in a mail to anyone ?

Only Pages, Preview, Pages for iCloud beta, and Pages v2 or later on IOS 7 can open native Pages v5.2.2 (.pages) documents. Sending a Pages v5.2.2 document to someone without Pages v5.2.2 is futile.
If you are using Gmail or Dropbox, you will need to right-click on that Pages document, and then choose compress from the contextual menu. You can then attach filename.pages.zip, because it appears as a single document, and not a folder.
Pages v5.2.2 has a Share button on the Toolbar. Providing your document is already in iCloud storage, you can Send a Link to iCloud via the following:
The Share toolbar icon also allows you to Send a Copy to Email, Messages, and AirDrop. This will present you with the document export sheet, the same one you get if you chose to File > Export To menu item, as the alternative.
If you are sharing document content with an MS Office user, then the document you want to send them is either a Word .docx, or .doc. If they want just a read-only view of your content, send a PDF, for improved cross-platform exchange.

  • IMac Desktop no longer able to read scanned documents.

I think because of Apple's keychain, I am no longer able to read a document that I have scanned to my computer from my HP Printer/Copier/Scanner.  HP is able to scan and I am able to save it to my files, however, when I try to open my document, I can only view lines and not my document or photo image.
Does anyone know how to remedy this problem?  Please, Please!  Thank you in advance.

The HP scans both the document or photo image to my computer.
I can view the image (both document or photo image) on my iMac computer in HP Scans.
When I try to save it to my computer file as PDF, Jpeg, etc, (I've tried all) it will be located in the correct Folder that I sent it to, however, when I open the saved file, the image is just lines.
There is an option to Add the Image to iPhoto Library.  It does send it to iPhoto, however, when you want to view the image, it's just lines, as it is when I try to open the file from the Folder I mentioned above.
i get an error prompt when i want to save the PDF file:  "An error has occurred saving the file because it could not be written to.  Check the properties  for the file  to make sure it is not read-only."  I do not know where i can fix this.

  • How can I read pdf documents from SD card

Is it (or will it be) possible to read pdf documents from SD card in Windows Phone 8?
    Thanks

Yes, it is possible. You can create even a folder on SD card and put in it the pdf's. It is working on my lumia 620 with Adobe reader 10.3 version.. You insert the SD in the phone, connect the phone to the computer and you will see the phone and the SD under it.
You drag your pdf's on the SD card. when you open the Adobe reader on the phone you go to the documents and here they are (with a small card icon near the document which shows you that the file is on the SD card.

  • Iphoto can't read scanned photos

New mac user. trying to create a slideshow and add a few songs. first I can't seem to see scanned images in iphoto. I copied the scanned images to the library but the photos do not show up. When I try to copy them I get an error message that the files can' be read /Users/qfamily1/Pictures/iPhoto Library/First date.jpg is the format.
Second, What is the easiest way to create a slideshow? I am trying to put one together with background music. I did figure out how to create one with the default settings but it seems to only want to let me pay one sone during the show and loop it. any suggestions?

    thehumann:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What system version are you running?
The quickest and easiest way to create a slideshow is to build it entirely within iDVD. IMO this gives you the best image quality when played on a TV set and allows you to add titles/subtitles to selected slides. The downside if your a fan of the Ken Burns effect is no KB effect.
In iPhoto put the photos in an album and in the order your want. Open iDVD, select your theme and click on the "+" button at the bottom to create a slideshow. Double click on the slideshow to get into the slideshow itself. There, go to the Media/Photos pane, select the album and drag it to the window on the left. That's it. You can select your transition, iTunes playlist containing your preselected songs.
When you have the iDVD project as you'd like it, use the File->Save as Disk Image menu option to create a disk image. Now you can open that disk image and play it with DVD Player to "proof" the project before committing to disk. When you're satisfied with the project burn it with Disk Utility using the slowest speed possible, 2X if possible. That will ensure the best burn and most compatibility with the many set top DVD players out there.
You might notice a slight pause at slide 99 and 198 (if you have that many) as the DVD standard only allows 99 chapters (each slide is a chapter) and iDVD starts the numbering over a 1 at those points. If you use quality DVDs and burn at the slowest speed that pause will not be that noticeable. But with poorer media and faster burn speeds some players will stall at #99.
Also I like to put a blank slide at the beginning and end of the slideshow for a better entry and finish.
    Good luck.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Have 2 registered e-mail addresses, can't read a document or get reader to recognize my id.

Why won't adobe reader let me log in and read my document using one of my registered e-mail addresses?

    Hi jhenrik,
You don't need to be logged in to view PDF files in Adobe Reader, so there may be another issue here. What happens when you try to open a document? Do you get an error message?
As for your username and password, you may want to reset your passwords to make sure that the right password is associated with each email address. (Are you able to log in to www.adobe.com with either email address?).
Please try resetting your passwords, and then get in touch with us again if that doesn't work.
    Best,

  • Can't email scanned documents

Just changed to windows 8 and I'm banging my head against the wall with a scanning issue.
I have an 8600 set up wirelessly. When I scan a document (just one page) evrything looks like it's working. The scanner scans, the dialouge box work fine. • Can't read word documents

When I open documents with Word 2010 they appear in some odd script of letters, numbers and symbols.

    Hi,
Does this issue happen on all Word documents or just some of them? If just some, where do you get these documents?
This issue may occur if Word haven't accurately detected the encoding standard of text in the file.
To fix the issue, we can specify the encoding standard to use to display (decode) the text:
    1. Click the File tab > Options > Advanced.
    2. Scroll to the General section, and then select the
Confirm file format conversion on open check box.
    3. Close and then reopen the file.
    4. In the Convert File dialog box, select
    Encoded Text.
    5. In the File Conversion dialog box, select
Other encoding, and then select the encoding standard that you want from the list. You may need to look up the encoding standards that are available in Word in the following article. See the "Look up encoding standards that
    are available in Word" section.

  • HP iPrint on iPhone/iPad - Can't email scanned document??? Am I missing something??

I bought a brand new C310A HP Photosmart Premium today to test something for work.  I had heard that you could scan from the printer directly to an iPhone and/or iPad.   This was nearly a dream come true as we are looking to outfit our outside sales team (@ 40 people) with iPads or iPhones to allow printing and scanning while out in the field.  Imagine my surprise when I get this thing setup and load HP iPrint on my phone and scan an image to a PDF and discover that I can't email the PDF document as an attachment.  Am I missing something completely obvious here?
Not being able to do this seems so outrageous that I didn't even think to ask if I could email it after scanning or even investigate if it was possible.  It's like buying a new car and asking if it has tires.  Why of course it would.  Why in the world would I want to scan a document to my phone or iPad if I wasn't going to want to send it somewhere using email at some point??
I see you can share your device and I guess access the documents from a PC or Mac directly but this hardly helps if that person has none.
    Anybody have an explanation?
HP, if you monitor this site, please fix this ASAP!!   This is a terrible omission.

wow - i thought I was the only one who thought this today after buying a 310 today too!   I like the tire analogy    for the record, no, you didn't miss anything
but seriously - i'm glad u got the workaround to work - i tried it earlier and the image didn't show up in my camera roll so i got really perplexed
I'm going to post to the app store - stand alone wireless printing really has me get on board with HP again after some mediocre experiences over the past few years!
+1 on emailing - it's perfect to replace the need to fax!

  • Adobe Reader - Scanned document upside down

I have scanned a letter (two pages) and the second page is showing as upside down, however the first page is the correct way up. I have tried rotating the document, but it only allows me to rotate both at the same time. Leaving me still with either the 2nd or 1st page the wrong way up. Any help would be great.
    Thanks.

You cannot rotate a document with Adobe Reader.
You can only rotate the view, that is something which affects all
pages in the currently open document. To actually rotate pages you'd
    need Acrobat.

  • Can't find scanned documents

I have a hp office jet pro 8600. I would say it's about 4 years old. It's the the scanner/printer/fax for my work, and we had a few documents scanned in a few days ago and need those retrieved. The problem is these files are no where to be found. They cannot be found by their file name in the search menu. They're not under scanned or my scans, or my documents. I've gone through several different forums trying different things but nothing seems to work!

When you go the the scan menu check all your settings to find the default directory that the files go to.
