Can't Read Web Gallery Announcements

Is it at all possible to change the preferences for the announcements ("Tell a Friend" button) on the web gallery? When I use it to send out an announcement, you can hardly read it! The writing is so light that people cannot read their log in and password to get into the galleries. I have checked this on several computers. I am using the latest version of iPhoto: 7.0.2 and am up-to-date on everything.

Select the text underneath the graphic in the email and use the Font button to change thesize and color of the font. You can change the color with the color button. If you don't have those buttons in your tool bar go to the Vies->Customize Toolbar menu and put them in the toolbar.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Can you post Web-Gallery to a non .Mac server?

iPhoto 08 and web gallery look pretty neat.
Do you have to post the Web Galleries to .Mac or can you use a different server.
Would like to continue post our college sports photos to our campus (OS X) server using web-gallery.

Jack, I don't think you can post web galleries to a non .Mac server. There seems to be a lot of support behind the scenes that makes Web Gallery work as it does. Normal HTML doesn't work like that.
What you could do, which would bring some of the reflections-on-black look, is send the photos to iWeb and use the export HTML option (not sure what it's called) in the File menu to create a gallery that you could host on a non-.Mac server. It wouldn't look exactly the same but you'd get whatever is possible without the .Mac-supplied functionality.

  • Can't upload web gallery in LR2

I have tried changing all settings per a search of the forum, but I still can't upload a gallery. I receive a "an error occurred sending file: an unknown error occured" this comes after the images and when it starts building the gallery. tried flash and http galleries, same thing. I can save and upload with cute ftp just fine, but not LR.
anyone know a good tutorial on web galleries?

Hello - I don't have a solution, but I wanted to post some observations: Each time I click upload, a folder is created or some files are transferred to the host until all the folders have been created on the remote host. In other words, the FTP transfer continues until a MKD command is sent to the host. After that, LR throws an error and stops.
I even went to the extent of deleting all the files from a working gallery structure on the remote host, leaving the folders intact. One click on "Upload" copied all the files into the structure as desired with no error message.
My analysis is that the return code from the FTP host following a successful MKD command is being misinterpreted my LR as an error.
This stops the FTP transfer, but the folder is OK and in the right place on the host. The next upload command either creates another folder, or copies files to the host. Once the folder structure has been created on the host and the Upload contains only files, it goes OK.
A crummy work-around would be to keep an empty gallery folder structure at the client end, copy that via another FTP host, then have LR fill it up.

  • Can't get Web Gallery button

I can't get the Web Gallery button on my iPhone. I do have iLife '08, .Mac account and published successfully albums to Web Gallery on .Mac from iPhoto. I followed the instructions how to transfer the albums to iPhone. I factory restored my iPhone and I restarted my iPhone. I'm up to date with my software. I use .Mac email account as default. I followed the discussions on this issue, which only some of you have, in iPhone forum. I still can't get the button on my iPhone and open the Web Gallery there.

My Apple Mail account is .Mac. I can delete this account on iPhone and sync it back on iTunes without difficulties. The account works both on iPhone and my desktop. Web Gallery button doesn't show up no matter what I do. As a test I published new set of pistures to my Gallery. The album is on .Mac but I can't see it on iPhone because I don't have the button.
My approach to any issues is that I first blame myself and then Apple. I don't know what else I could do wrong to cause this problem. Still I believe it's a small hitch somewhere.
I appreciate your concern and help.

  • Can't Create Web Gallery

    Hi All,
My wife is running iPhoto '08 on her Powerbook 12inch, 1.5 ghz, 1.25 gig ram computer. It runs with outstanding power and functionality....
...except when we try to make a web gallery.
When she tries to make one, we get an error message that says:
"An error occured while publishing the album 'album name.' Request to the server failed.
I have a MacBook pro on the same network, with the same .mac ID and it all runs fine.
    HELP!

    Hi Mate,
I've got (well, had) exactly the same problem, it was really quite frustrating! I've just run software update, and apple have just released an iPhoto update to fix that bug Phew.
I was a bit dissapointed that brand-new software wasnt working!
    Anyway, there you are!

  • Can I change Web Gallery "Key Photos"?

In the album overview, I have not been able to figure out how the album chooses the "Key Photo" that represents the album.
I haven't experimented fully, but it seems that a Key Photo from an Event made into an album follows to the Web Album, but I have several albums and smart albums I also need galleries of.

Oops, there it is. "Make Key Photo" from the "Events" menu.

  • Can't access web gallery from iphoto

I've been a .mac member for a long time. I can log onto it - password is no problem.
When I tried to upload photos today, an annoying message window opened saying : Log in; become a new member; no thanks.
I press login and the screen pops up - you're already logged in. Then nothing - the photos don't upload and it drops me off back at iphoto. I went into .mac to see if the photos did upload - nothing. I got another message window saying check the system preferences for .mac and when I do, I'm logged in. What gives?

try quitting iPhoto and deleting your iPhoto preferences file ("your username" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iphoto.plist). When you relaunch iPhoto a fresh default preference file will be created - set any user preferences that you want changed and try again

  • Can I publish to Web-Gallery from several Macs?

We have several Macs in the (extended) family, all running iPhoto (iLife08 and Leopard). I have ONE .Mac account (family account; i.e. for 5 people).
Here are a few related questions:
    1. Can each person publish to this one Web Gallery account?
    2. Is each "publisher" the owner of this specific Album on the Gallery? Or is there a "master" owner?
    3. How do I then control the sequence of the published albums?
    4. I published a series of albums on the Web Gallery; then I had to switch iLibraries (because a single one became to big) with (commercially available) iPoto Libary Manager, now the once published series is no longer visible on the web.
    Thanks for any pointers/answers/suggestions.
    Cheers,
    Veit

    Velt:
1 -You can setup a web gallery so others can add photos to via a web browser and by email. Also they can subscribe to the gallery, i.e. download the photos to their library.
2 -You would be the controller of the gallery.
3 -You control the sequence of the published albums by arranging them in iPhoto in the order you want - in the left hand pane under Web Gallery. If you want just your extended family to have access then you can password/user name protect the galleries.
4 - the galleries should not be removed from online just because you opened a different library. Open the original library, go to the web gallery and bookmark it in your browser for access regardless of which library you're running. You can confirm that the galleries are still online by going to your iDisk/Web/Sites/-gallery folder and checking for the gallery folders there.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Cannot see adobe web gallery on active website

I can see adobe web gallery in the dreamweaver test site and it is also visible and working on adobe bridge(where the gallery was created), however, when i upload it to my url it does not work. It tells me "http://designswithoutboundaries.com/Illustration%20Web%20Gallery/Illustrationwebgalleryind ex.html.
"404 error Page not found. Page as been removed, name changed or temporarily unavaible. Please try the following: if you typed the page address in the address bar click the back button in your brouser to try another link use a searcdh engine like google to for information on the internet".  My path must be wrong but i don't know how to fix it. I have searched many pages on the web for help but I keep coming up empty. I, also, asked my hosting company, however, they told me they don't help with the design end and I should look for help from a design master. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You

    It tells me "http://designswithoutboundaries.com/Illustration%20Web%20Gallery/Illus trationwebgalleryindex.html.
    "404 error Page not found.
The link above is invalid. It needs a forward slash just before index.html.
    Valid: http://designswithoutboundaries.com/Illustration%20Web%20Gallery/Illus trationwebgallery/index.html.
    but does it go anywhere?
Break the link down into its component parts.
    The link points to
    Domain: designswithoutboundaries.com = CORRECT
    Folder: Illustration = CORRECT
Folder: Illustration Web Gallery (%20 is a space). Is that correct?
    Folder: Illustrationwebgallery Is that correct?
Page: index.html. Is that correct and does it exist on the server?

  • Web Gallery Widget Help

I am trying to place a web gallery widget onto my iWeb page. I have been successful at that and can see the web gallery preview after it is placed. However, when I save the page, then publish to dotMac, then view the page in Safari, the web widget box where the preview should be is completely black. The link to the dotMac web gallery works fine, just no preview. This used to work fine when I was using the "Highlighter" web template but not since I switched to the "Modern Frame" web template.

Try deleting the widget, reloading it into the iWeb page and then doing a "Publish all to .Mac".

  • Suggestion for Web Gallery Logic

I'm not sure if the Aperture Devs read this discussion board and take feedback through it, but I thought I'd try anyway. I think one thing that would really help me in my workflow would be if Aperture's Smart Web Gallery had a few more options. A couple in specific, I'd like "not" logic with the keyword - for example if I put the keyword "Private" on any photo I don't want published, I can create a web gallery to grab all photos without that keyword on it. The way I have to do it now is give a specific keyword to every single image in my library except the few I don't want to end up in there. Works, but isn't ideal.
The other thing I'd like there is a better Calendar option. The current method only allows me to select a specific date, instead of a range. I'd like to tell it to grab any photo that's less than a year old. That way everytime I generate the gallery I get all my new photos, and anything over a year old just drops off the end.
These little additions would really help me, and they seem like things that other people would be able to use as well.
    Thanks for listening!

    hello, vortec4800
quote: "or example if I put the keyword "Private" on any photo I don't want published, I can create a web gallery to grab all photos without that keyword on it. "
since version 1 Aperture has been able to do this. when you do a query in the library use Keywords and click on all the keywords you want except for "private" and select Match: "All" instead of Match: "Any."
photographs with the word private will not pull up.
quote: "The current method only allows me to select a specific date, instead of a range."
since version 1 Aperture has had the capability to do this. select Calendar and select the first date you want the query to begin and then Shift click on the last date.

  • Questions about web gallery in iWeb - advise please

I have succesfully republished my old iWeb with iWeb 08, but would like to have some advice before I experiment further. The iWeb Help says I can add a web gallery to iWeb using either "insert>web gallery", or a Web Widget. Can anyone explain the difference to me?
My one Web Gallery has the neat new "carousel" effect and the other properties of this new function. Will any new photo albums that I publish directly from iWeb also have these properties, or are they unique to "web gallery"? The photo albums that I have republished with the new iWeb have the "download" and "subscribe" functions, but not the "carousel" and other niceties of Web Gallery. Thank you.

There are two completely separate types of gallery, one being the .Mac web gallery and the other being the ones that you make in iWeb.
Where iWeb mentions the "insert" or "Web Widget" it just means there two ways of doing the same thing. If you use the 'Insert' menu or the 'Web Widget' button you are able to choose one of your web galleries and insert an animated thumbnail which cycles through previews of your photos in that particular album. A visitor to your page is able to click on it to visit the specific album.
So there you have it, you can either build photo albums in iWeb without some of the fancy Web Gallery features or you can use the .Mac Web Gallery. The iWeb albums will be tightly integrated with iWeb and your pages but you can still integrate the .Mac Web Gallery to a certain degree by using the 'Insert' or 'Web Widget' options.
I personally plan to use both iWeb Albums and .Mac Web Gallery as they both have their merits for different projects I'm working on.
