Can't receive calls or texts on galaxy s5

I recently switched to the Verizon Prepaid plan, and since Sunday I haven't been able to get any incoming calls (it rings twice and then goes to voice mail--I've checked to make sure call forwarding was off) or incoming text messages. I can send them, and they are received by everyone, I just can't get anything incoming. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I would go to my:
Pre-paid customer service - 888-294-6804 - choose 1 for English, then 4, 6, 4 to get to a live person who can look at your account and see what is going on.

    Hey K1978,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are having cellular connection issues with your iPhone 5. The following troubleshooting assistant may help to resolve this issue:
Apple - Support - iPhone - Calls Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/calls/#section_1
For more in-depth troubleshooting, see the following article:
iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3780
Follow the instructions below for assistance with troubleshooting cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, please test to see if the issue is resolved.
    1. Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    2. Restart your iPhone.
    3. Ensure that your software is up to date:
              - Check for a Carrier Settings Update. Tap Settings > General > About.
              - Check for an iOS Software Update. Tap Settings > General > Software Update. Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
    4. Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
    5. If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
    6. Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrier to report the issue.
    7. Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    8. Restore the iPhone as new.
    9. Contact your carrier to:
              - Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
              - Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
              - Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Can't Receive Calls On New Samsung Galaxy S4?

I'm unable to receive calls on my brand new Samsung Galaxy S4. I only activated the phone two days ago. When I call my number, it goes directly to voicemail.
Everything else works fine - I can make calls, send and receive text messages, synchronize my e-mail, etc. It's only impossible to receive calls on the phone. I've tried calling both from a cell phone and a landline. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Ashley,
I contacted a Verizon sales rep in Bethesda on Friday and he informed me that the problem is due to my telephone number not being ported correctly (I transferred my old number from my previous carrier). I have since resubmitted my porting request, so this should be resolved soon. Would you be able to give me an estimated time to completion of my request?
Another issue came up more recently - I am not receiving text messages from certain numbers only. Do you have any idea why this would be the case?
    Thanks!

Is it a problem with the carrier? Is it a problem with iphone? Strange if why it works for 2 or 3 days and then kaput! need to swich it off and on to get it to work again
    Any ideas?

  • Help!! And fast! I can't receive calls or texts from people

So I've been with Verizon about a week, and I've switched my number from my old account, too much of a hassle to tell everyone I know my new number. Anyways, I've been informed that every time someone calls me it goes straight to voice mail. And I'm not receiving texts from people who don't have verizon. I don't know what the issue is, but I want help FAST! This is not good for my work.
    -Marissa

If you ported your number from another carrier, it may take a few days for all features to be fully activated.  You can call customer service (800-922-0204), choose option 4 and then say "Agent" at the voice prompt, and make sure all the provisioning is done correctly.
I'm a bit confused when you say " I've switched my number from my old account, too much of a hassle to tell everyone I know my new number. "
Did you actually port your number, or do you have a new number?

  • Can't make or receive calls or texts. I have FULL signal.

I have 100% full signal, all bars are there. I CAN NOT MAKE OR RECEIVE  phone calls or text messages!! Started to happen on 6/17/2013. I have  the Samsung Galaxy. My wife and I and a friend  have the same phone and they are having the same problem as me. THEY  can not make calls or receive calls or text messages as well........they  have full signal too!!! Again, this has been happening since 6/17/2013.  IT IS ONLY HAPPENING IN MY HOMETOWN AREA!!! THE TOWN WHERE I LIVE!! WHEN I  LEAVE MY TOWN...half mile north or half mile south-IT WORKS FINE AGAIN... WHEN I COME HOME, NO CALLS, NO TEXTS, AND  THERE IS FULL SIGNAL. WHEN I TRY MAKING A CALL I WATCH THE SIGNAL, I  PRESS SEND, THE SIGNAL IS FULL SIGNAL, AND 15 SECONDS LATER IT DROPS  THE CALL (message says call ended). DOESN'T CONNECT THE CALL. THE TOWN IS WILLIAMSVILLE NY. THE  ZIP CODE IS 14221. ACADEMY STREET, MILL STREET, SCHOOL ST, EAGLE ST all in zip code 14221. These phones are our ALL IN ONE phones. We don't have home phones. We can't call anyone while at home . THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE  VERIZON TOWER THAT SERVICES THIS AREA. PLEASE HELP!
AGAIN...THIS  IS HAPPENING TO ME, MY WIFE, AND FRIENDS.  IT ONLY IS HAPPENING IN ZIP CODE 14221 WHERE WE ALL LIVE. I KNOW THAT THERE ARE OTHER VERIZON CUSTOMERS HAVING THIS ISSUE HERE (14221) AS WELL. IT'S  NOT OUR PHONES. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SERVICE.

theroamer Having issues with signal is definitely not how we want you to experience wireless service. We take this very seriously because just like you I use my cell phone for everything and recently eliminated my home phone. I would love to help you with this issue, so lets get started. I show you are in an area that has great coverage. I do show multiple customers have reported issues in your area and a few weeks ago, it shows the issue was resolved. You advised that you cant get calls inside your home. Have you always had signal issues inside the home? If you step outside your door, can you make a call, send text, or access data related functions at all? Have you tried to power cycle the devices or perform a master reset. Before you rest the device, lets try a SIM card removal. Power the device off first and follow these steps http://tiny.cc/2gn6yw . This will reconnect you with the towers. You should have your wife and friend perform the same steps. If you continue to have the issues, try performing the hard reset http://tiny.cc/9in6yw . Make sure all information is backed up first. The steps above should help with your issue. If your still having the problems with signal, send us a private message with your name and mobile number. We can try submitting another trouble ticket for the issues so that we continue to inform our technicians in hopes that your area issue is revisited. I truly apologize for the issues your having and that your trouble-tickets were closed without any resolution. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

the screen on my smart phone is broken, it still works, I can here my received text sound.  Can I receive calls on my tablet or pc?

IF you have installed/activated Verizon Message+ on your phone, then yes you can. If not, you are out of luck.
If they are iMessages on an iPhone, you could log into your iMessage account on an Apple computer to read the iMessages, but would be unable to view SMS/MMS.

  • Galaxy S4 will not make or receive calls or texts while connected to home wifi?

Recently, My Galaxy S4 will not make or receive calls or texts while connected to my home WIFI. The status bar WIFI icon is highlighted and the Connection Bar icon has 0 bars. When I check the WIFI connection in "settings" the status is connected and shows very strong strength. Any time I try to make a call or send a text I get a "no network error message" and basically I am dead in the water as far as cell phone use is concerned. My S4 is my primary phone for home and business use and is very inconvenient when I am missing calls, etc. I have done a phone reset and removed SIM Card as well as a rest. Please advise.

jlrwillis, I know this would concern me just the same and we definitely want to figure this out for you. How long has this been going on? Since you started experiencing the issue have there been any changes to the device? Software updates, application downloads, or damage to the device? If WiFi is off while at home do you see that you are connected to cellular service? Are you able to make a call that way?

  • Blackberry won't send/receive calls or texts but can still access internet.

    Hi,
I have a blackberry curve 9300, it's with Orange but has been unlocked and has an o2 sim in it.
A couple of weeks ago I lost the phone so I called o2 and they deactivated the sim then sent me a new one, which works perfectly fine. A few days ago someone called up my Dad saying that they had found my phone, but due to it having a lock on it they had to wipe the handset in order to get contact details. I got the phone back, put my sim in it and it won't do anything. It's recognising the sim fine but I can't send or receive calls and texts, yet I can still go on the internet. It used to work absolutely fine before I lost it, so I can't understand as to why it's suddenly not working. I went into o2 this morning but they wouldn't do anything as it's an Orange phone, and Orange wouldn't do anything as it was unlocked, so I'm stuck.
Any clue as to why this is happening?
When I try to send a text it has a red X by it and says - Retries Exceeded.
When I try to call it instantly says - Call Failed.
Your advice is VERY much appreciated! Pulling my hair out here - I miss my Blackberry and am currently stuck with my old LG.

Calls and SMS are carrier functions. Your first step should havw been calling your carrier.

  • I can't make or receive calls or text after I dialed *228, option 1

I can't make or receive calls or text after I dialed *228, option 1 as instructed by tech support. The message said "Programming successful". I am a pre-paid only customer ($50/ month unlimited) LG basic flip phone. When I try to call anyone now, I get a Verizon recorded message: "We're unable to complete your call. To speak to a customer service representative hang-up and dial *611"  And *228, option 2 not helping either.

        Hi squiddlydiddly!
I'm sorry you're having issues in making and receiving calls with your prepaid device. I would need to direct you to our Prepaid department for assistance.
In order to reach a Prepaid Department representative, please call 888-294-6804. When prompted, enter your prepaid phone number. Then press 4, 5, 4 and enter the pass code for your account.  If you do not know the pass code, enter in four zeros.  Then the system will then transfer you to a Prepaid representative.
    Thank you,

  • IPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1 stops receiving calls and text messages

    Hi all,
My iPhone 4 (iOS 5.0.1) suddenly stopped receiving calls and text messages. However, I'm still able to send them.
The workaround for fixing this issue is to make an hard reset to the iPhone.
This only occured with 5.0.1 version. It's very annoying because I'm not able to know if it's working or not (I can only suppose that it's not working when I'm a long period without receiving calls/messages)
Do you know how to solve this ?
    Thanks in advance!

First, who really cares what you do?  I certainly don't, and I doubt the vast majority of users on this forum don't either.  Ridiculous statements like that just make you look stupid.
Second, this is a user to user technical support forum.  I saw a lot of whine here, not a question.  What is your technical support question?
