Hello Edward:
A couple of additional things...
Trash the preference file (com.apple.mail.plist. Restart.
If you have not done so already, clear the browser cache.
I assume you have tried to send yourself an E-mail.

Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
              •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 993
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
              •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 587
              •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...

  • Can't receive e-mail on ipad 3

    Can't receive e-mail on new iPad...sending not a problem...using Comcast

Here is what I did to resolve the problem:
In Mail/preferences/accounts/account information/ and at the bottom of the box there is a toggle arrow up and down to edit the outgoing mail server, check the box "use only this server" and  hit this toggle button and select "edit SMTP Server List" at the very bottom of the email names.
Select Advanced tab.  Correct and/or add usernames and passwords as needed for each email account.  Be sure to select OK each time to get the passwords to hold!  Some changes don't seem to hold unless you click OK before you move on.
To test:       Window/activity (a little windows will pop up showing activity bars)   and then "get mail" button.  This should show any problems
    Another test:  window/connection doctor
This shouldl fix both pop and imap.  so far it worked on yahoo, mobile me, gmail, hotmail, and others.  Of course, you will need to know the incoming and outgoing mail server info, user name, and passwords.
Too bad we have to go though hoops to use an email program that used to work well.  Worse yet, many may not know for days that their email isn't working.
This is easy method of setting up your email accounts but may not allow enough detail to make the mail accounts function properly in Mail 5.0:
system preferences/internet and wireless/mail, contacts, calendars/ add account

  • I have one blackberry id and two blackberry's but can only receive e-mails on one device!

    Hi all,
I have a problem! I have one blackberry id and two blackberry. I have given my old blackberry to my wife.
I have just setup my new phone but whilst setting up my e-mails on my new phone we have noticed that the e-mails have been transferred to my new phone but have stopped working on my old phone.
The odd thing is my wife had a previous blackberry and we were able to both get the company e-mails on each phone.
The message that appears when e-mails have been transferred to the new phone is there is another device registered to this blackberry id and only one device can receive e-mail.
How can I unregistered my old phone from the blackberry id and re-register it under my wife's details and hopefully receive the e-mails on both phones?
Please help as its vital for the business.
    Cheers Nick

Hi woodbe and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
The BlackBerry ID is only designed to work on one device at a time. Your wife can sign up for a new BlackBerry ID by going to www.blackberry.com/blackberryid.  Also, to receive email on her device, she will have to have a BlackBerry data plan configured with your wireless network provider as well.
To change the BlackBerry ID on her device, you can back it up using the BlackBerry Desktop Software, then perform a security wipe from Options>Security.  Upon the reboot, sign in with the new BlackBerry ID, then you can restore the data using the BlackBerry Desktop Software again.
    Thanks.

  • Can't receive  my mail on Mail

Hello. I am using 10.3.9, and have been having a problem with Mail recently, that I would love to get some help with.
Last week my Mail program stopped receiving mail for me on my desktop. (It still received spam, just nothing addressed to me). I can send mail from the desktop but not receive it. I can recceive my mail from my laptop, which is usually at work, but when I place my laptop next to my desktop (using the same wireless and ISP) I can get my mail on the laptop, but not the desktop. My mail is also available to me on the server, from either computer. I have re-checked the settings for my accounts, that doesn't seem to help. At a friend's suggestion, I downloaded Eudora onto the desktop to see if I could receive my email through that program - and with that program I am able to receive my email, but for some reason can't send mail. (This might be a problem in my setting up Eudora, however, which I did kind of quick and dirty...in any case,....I don't want to switch to Eudora, I want to use Mail if I can).
I originally thought the solution was to re-install Mail, but in reading these discussions I am getting the idea that the problem probably is in some cache or preference file, but I don't have a clue what to do next. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Michael Abrahams

to close this out.....it appears that most of the problem was from comcast refusing to accept forwarded mail from my ISP, and then my ISP shut down the fowarders I'd set up. I've eliminated the comcast forwarder, and while I still can't use Mail from home (where I have comcast), I can see my mail using webmail or at gmail(where i sent one forwarder). Not a perfect solution, and I still think there is something I can do with Mail at home to make it work, but at least I can read and send mail now.
I'm marking this question as answered because, although it's not really solved, there doesn't seem to be a dialogue here, and I have a solution that works for me for the present.

  • E72 and Gmail problem (I can't receive new mail)

    Greetings,
I hava Gmail account set up in my Nokia E72. I can send mail and I can receive mail which is dated till 23.02.2010. Mail that came in my inbox after that date and new mail I can not receive on E72. What could be a problem?

You could try re-sync-ing your Nokia Messaging account to see if that works. I forgot the exact term though but it's somewhere in the options...or settings... It will basically remove all the email data in your phone and re-sync to your connected mailboxes fresh.
You will not be able to download a separate Mail for Exchange application to install in your Nokia E72 because the MFE functionality is integrated (built-in) with the Nokia Email Client that is part of your phone OS.
In other words, your Nokia E72 came pre-loaded with the ability to use MFE. When you set up an email account, there should have been an option for you to select "MFE" which will work, if your email account provider has an Exchange server for you to connect to.
Sometimes, with generic email addresses which is by default a POP3 type connection for example, you may have to manually set up the MFE connection. So the way I do it is to trick the phone into thinking my email address is non-standard by typing [email protected]... This will prompt the phone to ask me for an email type.
The only way to "update" your MFE is if the latest software update for your phone has improvements to the email client software.
As for third party mail software, it will vary because phones don't have the same operating system. There's no universal compatibility with one software. Every mobile software developed must be tweaked to work with different models and brands.
It's not an easy thing to do and consumes time & money. So most developers will focus on the devices that are the most popular among consumers...  If Nokia E72 isn't listed as a compatible device, then you will not be able to use free mail software. You can email the software company that develops the mail software you are interested in to see if they have plans to include E72 as part of their compatible devices
"Try not. Do or do not, there is no try."

  • Why I can't receive e-mail anymore on my iPad

Hi can someone tell me why my iPad has stopped receiving e-mail?

    Things glitch.
Have you tried to go into the settings, delete the account(s) and then re-add the info? Sometimes resetting the mail accounts can clear up glitches.

  • HT4972 I performed the update and now I can NOT receive e-mail on my iphone...How can I correct this problem?

I performed the update on my iphone and now I can NOT receive email, it just keeps trying to retrive?  Any suggestions?

    Hi ElizabethAnnT,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
With the Mail app open on your iPhone, notice which email account is showing in the top left corner of your screen.  Tap on that mailbox and you should be taken back to the main MAILBOXES window.  See the picture below:
If you tap the Edit button in the top right corner of your screen you will see a list including "All Inboxes" and "Unread."  Make sure there is a blue circle with a checkmark to the left of all of these.
For more information on using Mail, click on the link below:

  • Can't receive new mail from hotmail

Okay, so I got my MacBook Air two days ago and everything has been running fine, except for the fact that in the Mail app I can't receive email from my hotmail account past a certain point. When it goes to receive new mail for the account it lists itself as receiving 2320 incoming messages. I know that this figure is too high, perhaps about double what it should be getting from the account. However, the main problem lies in the fact that the Mail app only ever receives 455 of those messages, which leaves me missing pretty much every email I've received this year. The Mail app works fine for receiving new emails from my university email account (which uses pod51000.outlook.com for its incoming mail server, as opposed to hotmail's pop3.live.com). I've looked through the online support pages and looked for people having a similar problem here, but neither of these have been of any real help. I have no idea what the problem could be, so any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
If any additional information would be helpful then I'd be more than happy to provide it.

had the same problem and solved it!
I've posted the solution here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2705264?start=15&tstart=0

  • I can't receive iCloud mail on the web or any of my devices

I have had an iCloud account since the early .mac days. Two days ago, all of the unread mail in my inbox disappeared from my iPhone 5S, iMac, MacBook Air, and even the iCloud website, and I have not received any mail on this account since.  None of the troubleshooting has worked. I do still have unread mail that I have placed in files other than my inbox, and can SEND from the account, but something is seriously wrong here. Where are my lost unread messages, and why am I not receiving mail? Any ideas?

    Hi ..
    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You may have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
If nothing above has helped, try here >  iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • I can't receive any mails from other apps at my gmail on ipad 2

I can sent and receive emails from my ipad 2, using gmail. However, when I try sharing documents, photo's etc. in other apps, I don't receive the mail.
    For instance:
I made a mindmap in the app Ithoughts. Then composed an email, included the map (tried different formats including pdf).
Send the email - that seems to work. But I never receive it on my gmail account. This also happens when I try to mail a photo from my photo library.
I also tried different mail addresses, but it won't work anyhow.
Sending and receiving mails directly to my mail account does work.
    Please help me!

Thanks so much! My grandaughters played games on the iPad over Xmas and one of their moms said shed restricted their access! Guess they forgot to enable again. Thank you again! Karla

  • Why can Netscape receive my mail, but mail appl. can't.

I know there have been many issues with mail lately, & I am having the same problems. Can send but can't receive. However, when I open my Netscape browser & click the mail icon, it retrieves my mail from the ISP. How is Netscape able to get it when mail can't??

Comcast is my host ISP, but am retreiving other mail
from a local ISP(small town phone co. rtcol.com).
Last week mail was not receiving from either ISP's,
however, since the week-end, I am receiving from
Comcast, but not the local ISP.
A number of people reported problems receiving mail from Yahoo, including me. It seems to be working fine today. I believe I read about a new virus that started going around late last week around the time people started complaining. It could be that your ISPs are still dealing with the problem and haven't fixed the problem yet.

  • Can't receive g-mail

Suddenly I cannot receive g-mail.  I have deleted the account, inserted a new one, everything is inputted correctly.  I can access via the web page, so I know I typed my data correctly.  I am using the iPhone 4S.  Any help?

Note that GMail does not support Push (unless you set it up as an Exchange account). So is the problem that you don't see the e-mail until you open the Mail app, or that you never receive your GMail even when you open the Mail app?
If the problem is that you don't get mail until you open the app, then see this thread to set up your GMail as an Exchange account:
