Can't receive gmail

Hi,
I know a lot of other people appear to have had similar problems.
I can't receive gmail. If just sits in the checking mode. I can send though it takes a long time. I haven't changed any settings. Started to happen about a month ago when I tried to send a attachment that was too large. It wouldn't send and now I can't receive the emails.
I can also not delete the gmail account. And as far as I can see all my settings are as suggested.
I did find a recovered messages file where it had the message with the large attachment that wouldn't send in it up to 73 times in it. I have managed to delete those. But still not improvement.
Can anyone help?

I have also taken that account offline, added the gmail again as a 2nd account, and it is still doing the same thing.
I ran the test that gmail suggests and it appears fine so they say it might be something with my ISP.

  • Can't receive gmail in mac mail

I recently changed passwords in my gmail account (hack attempt) but now I can't receive mail from that account in Mail. I have several email accounts and they all filter into Mail for ease of access. I've tried many things (e.g. resetting keychain, entering password in Mail account preferences, etc.) but nothing works. Any help is much appreciated!

I should also add that when I try to send a Gmail message to myself at my Gmail address using the Gmail smtp server, the message activity bar goes about 1/2 way across and then just stalls.. Then I have two spinning gizmos - one next to my Sent box and one next to my Gmail box. I just tried sending out of my mobile me acct and that doesn't seem to go out either now.
I should also mention that yesterday I accidentally drug in a whole Project out of iPhoto to send a picture to someone and didn't realize Mail was trying to send the whole project. I saw under Mail activity that this was going to take forever, so I tried to cancel it. That may be part of the problem. Bad things started happening after that. I do also in my Gmail acct under the Sent Folder, a solid circle to the right of it with just a tiny part of it showing white, like it was at the beginning of sending something big, but never finished. Is there a way to clear all this out, as I'm suspecting something went amiss there - just a guess.
    Thanks,
    Mark

Can't receive messages on Thunderbird with a Gmail account + Avast installed; other people have the same problem, can you please fix it?

    Finally... SOLUTION!!!!
Hey guys. After being a loyal iPhone user for almost 5yrs, I finally switched to (dark) Adnroid side and I love it! I was stressing out over this very issue for the longest time. My wife still has an iPhone 5 and I could never receive her text messages on my Galaxy Note 3. After struggling with using the aforementioned fixes, nothing worked. After a week, I was considering returning my awesome new galaxy and just getting the iPhone 5s.
Finally, my wife figured out a solution so simple we stared at each other dumbfounded. It's as simple as this:
    1. I went to my wife's iPhone and went to Contacts and selected my contact info
    2. I scrolled to my phone number. It was filed as "iPhone." Now change that to simply "mobile"
    3. Now send a text from iPhone to Galaxy. You should now be able to receive texts on the Galaxy from the iPhone without it trying to send it as an iMessage.
    Alternate (more frustrating way)
After the iPhone user (ios7) tries to send a text and it comes back as undelivereable, select the exclamation point next to the returned text, then click  "send as text message." this will force it to send the message as an SMS text as opposed to an iMessage. This will work, but you have to go through this song and dance everytime.
I hope this works for you guys- it did for me, and I'm happy I'm keeping my new phone!!

If you've activated 2-step verification, you need to generate an application-specific password in your Google account and enter it in place of your old password.

  • Out of nowhere I can only receive gmail on iPhone, cannot send?!?

Out of nowhere my iPhone stopped sending email from my work gmail account. My personal account works fine. The error message I get says the password is wrong - but I know it's not because I can log on via the web and send email from there.
I have tried deleting the account and reconfiguring with no success. It's just odd that it stopped working randomly one day. My coworkers who have the exact same email setup are not having any problems.
    Please help!!!

Try this with the account involved:

I can't seem to get any of my imap Gmail in my Mac Mail account - just started happening. Connection doctor is ok, but the little spinner just spins and spins next to my Gmail acct and nothing downloads. Have access through Time Warner Roadrunner. I can see in my online Gmail acct that a few new messages have come in, but nothing will download in MacMail. My me.com acct works ok, just seems to be Gmail. Any thoughts?

Google them to confirm the settings that you need for the outgoing server, then check the setting you entered on the pad.  Pay real close attention to the outgoing server name, and port.  You may need to change in on the pad.

  • Can't receive mail from external domains (hotmail, gmail, etc)

    Default Frontend NAME.NL
TlS, Basic verification, Basic after TLS, Intergrated, Exchange verification. groups: Exchange-server,

  • E72 and Gmail problem (I can't receive new mail)

    Greetings,
I hava Gmail account set up in my Nokia E72. I can send mail and I can receive mail which is dated till 23.02.2010. Mail that came in my inbox after that date and new mail I can not receive on E72. What could be a problem?

You could try re-sync-ing your Nokia Messaging account to see if that works. I forgot the exact term though but it's somewhere in the options...or settings... It will basically remove all the email data in your phone and re-sync to your connected mailboxes fresh.
You will not be able to download a separate Mail for Exchange application to install in your Nokia E72 because the MFE functionality is integrated (built-in) with the Nokia Email Client that is part of your phone OS.
In other words, your Nokia E72 came pre-loaded with the ability to use MFE. When you set up an email account, there should have been an option for you to select "MFE" which will work, if your email account provider has an Exchange server for you to connect to.
Sometimes, with generic email addresses which is by default a POP3 type connection for example, you may have to manually set up the MFE connection. So the way I do it is to trick the phone into thinking my email address is non-standard by typing [email protected]... This will prompt the phone to ask me for an email type.
The only way to "update" your MFE is if the latest software update for your phone has improvements to the email client software.
As for third party mail software, it will vary because phones don't have the same operating system. There's no universal compatibility with one software. Every mobile software developed must be tweaked to work with different models and brands.
It's not an easy thing to do and consumes time & money. So most developers will focus on the devices that are the most popular among consumers...  If Nokia E72 isn't listed as a compatible device, then you will not be able to use free mail software. You can email the software company that develops the mail software you are interested in to see if they have plans to include E72 as part of their compatible devices
"Try not. Do or do not, there is no try."

  • Mail can't receive email from Gmail server even it knew

I have an account in Gmail and I set up a POP account in Mail, and it works! But that's was last week time, now I can't receive any new mail but I still know I have. Why? Mail always alerts me that "You've new mail". When I check the "Get Info" of Inbox, it showed me that I have about 20 emails that are not download yet. I keep on clicking "get new mail" & wait, but no mail is show up! Things I tried:
    - restart my Mac.
    - reset up my account by checking "receive all mail" in Gmail settings.
    - del my recent account & create again.
    - send an email to myself.
    But it doesn't work.

Sometimes Mail chokes on a message it cannot download and that prevents it from downloading the rest as well. Solving this problem will probably require removing one or more messages from the server.
You may want to try to download those messages with another mail client such as Thunderbird first, to avoid losing them — and use Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to import them back into Mail afterwards if you wish.

  • Gmail & Mail 3.0: Sudden new problems--can't receive or delete messages

For the last two days I've had very odd problems with Mail. They seemed to start out of the blue; the only thing new I've done in this time frame is get an iPhone, which I set up with imap/gmail (I installed Leopard long before these problems started). For a couple of days I was unable to send messages. Then suddenly last night I was able to send but now I can't receive or delete messages. Does anyone know what may be the problem and what to do? Thanks so much.

    I'll add my sad story...
Since upgrading, one email account will not receive mail - says the server reject my password, although I can retrieve my mail from the web. It is a POP account, although I tried setting up another with the same settings but as an IMAP account, with no luck. Outgoing mail is fine and other accounts, such as .mac and gmail seem to work. Tried recreating the account as a new user (so no old preferences messing things up) and from a new mail program (Thunderbird), but still rejects my password. I will try from an 10.4 machine today to see if I can get my mail.

The settings or the password have probably changed on your mac.

  • How do you send a video via Gmail? Since upgrading to ios7 on my Ipad, ican't send .can only receive on the Mail. Can do both on Gmail but when I go on attatch it only accesses my pics not my videos

Since upgrade to ios7, I have not been able to send messages via Mail. I can only receive.I can do both on Gmail but when I try to attatch, it only accesses photos not videos, any idea how I can attatch a video?

Here's a troubleshooting article from Apple:  iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
It doesn't seem to cover your specific issue, but have you tried using a different network (either a different wi-fi network, or switching from wi-fi to cellular or vice-versa if you have a wi-fi+cellular iPad)?
For GMail, iCloud and Yahoo, copies of messages are stored on their respective servers, so you could try deleting the account on your iPad, then re-adding each account one at a time to see if that resolves the issue.
