Can't receive unread email... can recieve read

I reciently upgraded from my iBook G4 to a MacBook and when I set up Mail an odd thing happened: all email in my POP3 yahoo and gmail accounts that were marked as read download just fine, but anything marked as unread does not. So, I can't get any new mail but have full access to old emails.
I've tried all I know to fix this including starting all over by deleting the Mail folder in the Library and the com.apple.mail.plist file in Preferences. I don't think its a server setting that I messed up as it is a problem with both gmail and yahoo and because it works fine on my old laptop.
Anyone with any ideas would be a HUGE help.

I have the same problem using Mail 2.1.1 on my G4 and on my MAcBook Pro: I can access the mail server (Exchange, and I checked with the opeator), but Mail behaves as if there were no new mails.
Mail 2.1 works perfect on my G5.
Anyone any idea?

Unread emails marked as read

I'm using OS10.7.5 and Mail 5.3. I have several email accounts and all of them but one behave properly. The account in question shows all of my emails as being read but that's not the case. I've had this problem before but I can't remember how I solved the problem. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.

Unread emails marked as read without being opened

On my Ipad 2, unread emails are marked as read without being opened. This happens when I open the email from my laptop after using the ipad. There are four email accounts on the ipad and they are all experiencing this. Any idea what is going on?

When I have Yahoo mail open the tab shows (6 unread) when there are zero unread emails when I do have a unread email it will read 7 for one, 8 for 2 and so on. How do I get zero to read zero on the tab. I can't figure it out and its driving me crazy.

I think this thing read right before I loaded Yahoo Tool Bar so I could use Yahoo Mail as my default. Since then It hasn't been correct. It did read (4 unread) for a while then for some reason it changed to 6.

If that Toolbar is faulty, reloading it probably isn't going to do anything, just disable it and see if that problem goes away.

How to receive emails i already read from gmail online

I cant receive the emails I already read from gmail online, maybe because they have been marked as read. Cant mac mail download emails including both read and unread? Thx!

You can either set Gmail to automatically forward any mail you get to you IP email account so everything gets downloaded when you do a 'get mail'. Or, you can set up POP or IMAP settings within gmail for your IP account, set up a new account in Mail's prefs and tell it to bring in Gmail's messages, so when you do a 'get mail' everything comes down.

Mark unread email as "read"

Hi there,
I am using the email functionality of my iphone quite extensively. But I cannot find a function to mark unread email as being read. Since I using mail on my phone and my laptop I dont want to go through 40 mails a day on my iphone in order for the mail to be taken off my unread mails list. Otherwise the unread mails number count on top of the mail icon in the main menu becomes quite useless.
Any advice?

Similar problem here. The number of unread email messages in the little red circle does not change after I read my emails. The only way I can get it to correctly reflect the number of unread messages is to force quit the email program. While in the email app, press the home button for about 10 seconds and let go. It will quit the email app and put you back at home. The unread message count will be accurate. I'm sure Apple will address this on their next update.

One of my POP mail accounts stop receiving new email

I have done everything that other postings say (remove the "AlreadyDownloaded) but I can only get emails as of Jan 9, 2006 and no further.
I can send emails, but Apple Mail won't retrieve newer emails from my server.
I checked and I can see/seend/receive emails from a webmail, even Entourage works fine.
What can I do?

Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. We are talking thousands of pages! I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried. However, I can not bring them to him on a Flashdrive when I meet with him without an extraordinary amount of presssure on my part. THis is not just some little email issue. How is being unable to verify your hotmail account, which is a Microsoft Service, relevant to these forums. If you can't verify your account information with Microsoft, that's something you need to take up with them.

Hm, I belive it has nothing to do with phone, most likely it's the email application that handles settings. You need to fire your email application and check the settings. Unfortunately at least in GMail app there is no way to change the theme, you might want to look for other email clients that offer customisable themes or simply more themes to select from. Appologies that I don't have any recommndations to make

Your iPad doesn't receive email from Outlook Express (or any other email client). It receives email from your email provider. To set up your email account on your iPad go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap Add Account and add your email provider's account settings with your username and password. iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and Hotmail email settings are automatically entered by tapping the appropriate button. Others must be manually entered by tapping Other. (Exchange accounts will also require you to enter your email provider's settings.)

If this just started, and before you could send and receive just fine, then it is a problem with Mac Mail.
It is IMHO one of the Worst Mail programs ever written.
You are not alone this ends up happening to a lot of Mac Mail users, for No good reason.
It is not you ISP, it is not your settings. It is Mac Mail just decides to stop allowing you to send mail.
If you want it to never happen again stop using Mac Mail and find another Mail program. Any Other Mail program.
