Can't record narrative to replace old narrative

I have one narrative track and two (stereo) music tracks. I deleted a voice over clip and want to rerecord it, but I get this error message every time "The specified capture destination file already exists". What am I doing wrong? Thanks Rich

Hi(Bonjour)!
Deleting the recorded voice over clip in timeline does not erase the media file related to capture itself.
Pay attention to the name you choose uppon recording in voice over tool. Try a different name.

  • How can I record narration with no video or beyond the end of my video in iMovie?

I have a question about recording narration in iMovie.
I wrote a script to read as the narration for a movie I'm making. My thought was I could record the narration first, then add video to match the spoken words.
I've done this before in Sony Vegas on my PC and it worked out well, better than trying to speak to what was going on in the video after I record the video.
Unfortunately, if I try to record narration in iMovie without any video being there yet, it won't record. It appears I need to put a video clip on the timeline first.
If I put a short clip in and try to record narration beyond the end of it, iMovie quits recording at the end of the video clip.
So I went to quicktime and recorded my narration there and have 10 audio files (since I just don't seem to be able to read this whole script without making mistakes).
I then tried to add all 10 to my movie and I think it made me add a video clip first, but after I did, iMovie overlayed all 10 audio files on top of each other.
If I try to drag them over one at a time, I still can't get them to go sequentially unless I add more video to my movie.
There must be a way to add audio files or create narration without having to create a video file longer than your audio first.  Isn't there?
I just can't seem to find a way to get the audio files layed out one after another without more video.  Very frustrating.
At this point, I really want to know how to add audio files beyond the end of my video since I have them all recorded.
But I'd also like to know how to record narration beyond the end of the video too for future projects.
    Thanks!
    Brad

You could insert a bunch of placeholders in the timeline before doing the voiceover.
You can find a range of placeholders (they are actually templates used in iMovie Trailers) in the Maps, Backgrounds & Animatics browser. This is the last browser at the end of the centre toolbar, after the Titles and Transitions browsers. Click on it and scroll down to see all the animatics (aka placholders or templates). Drag a number of these into your project timeline - as many as you think you need to cover your audio.
When you've finished the voiceover, drag photos directly onto the animatics and select Replace from the pop-up menu. Adjust the timing by using the Inspector (double-click a photo to open the Inspector, then change the duration).

  • Can Keynote 3 record narration for slides (like PowerPoint)?

Does anyone know if it's possible to record narration for selected slides in Keynote 3? Unfortunately, this much-desired feature was lacking in Keynote 2 (it could only play one audio file through the entire presentation). FYI, PowerPoint has this feature already, but it is then limited by an inability to export to Flash or QuickTime... Thanks!

Thanks, nanotechmama! On your lead, I looked up the User's Guide and found this additional clarification:
    "Adding Narration and Other Audio
You can add music—a file or playlist from your iTunes music library, or any other sound file—to a Keynote document. You can add sound as a soundtrack for the entire slideshow, or you can add sound to a single slide.
If you add a soundtrack, the music starts playing when the slideshow starts. You can specify whether to play the audio once or repeatedly (or you can turn it off ).
If you add a sound file to an individual slide, the sound plays when the slide appears and stops when you move to the next slide. You could, for example, record narration for each slide as an MP3 file; this technique is especially useful if you plan to export the slideshow as a self-playing QuickTime movie. (For more information, see “PowerPoint” on page 167.)
Note: To make sure that the audio plays on other computers, “Copy audio and movies into document” must be selected in the expanded Save dialog. This option is on by default."
So it looks like it might be possible to add a different narration file to each slide. I've therefore ordered a copy of Keynote 3, and I'll confirm in a week or so (once I receive it) whether this is indeed so.

    Thanks for the update.
There are several Adobe Premiere Elements Forum threads about situation such as the one that you have encountered. Typically they are the results of some heavy activity in the narration track.  Some have found success in maneuvers between the Expert and Quick workspaces in versions 11 and 12 or Timeline and Sceneline workspaces in versions earlier than 11. That is why I mentioned that type of factor in a prior post in your thread.
If that is not working, then we are forced into the new project where the problems in the current project are not presenting.
I will do a search for the threads that I am recalling about your type of issue. But, right now all roads seem to head to the new project. But I would ask "Can you salvage this project by creating your narration clips in Audacity or a new Premiere Elements project and import them into this project, putting the clips on one of the numbered audio tracks?"
If the problem should reappear in the new project, please let us know including the details of what was going on immediate before the problem surfaced.
    Thanks.

  • Recording Narration for Keynote?

According to the KN User Manual, each KN slide can be narrated with an audio file so that the audio plays for that one slide only and stops when that slide leaves the screen. But the user manual does not say how to record this narration. Is there a way to record narration, one slide at a time, using a UBS mic, directly into Keynote as I'm building the presentation?
Right now.... my procedure is to export the KN, no audio, presentation as a QT movie: DV NTSC Low Quality compression, at 8fps. (Any other frame rate and the QT movie is not the same length as the Keynote Presentation. I made a one minute test of this and only changed the frame rate settings. 8fps gave me a 1:00 QT movie, but 29.97fps gave me :58. Over time, this two second loss can really add up!)
I then imported that low video quality QT into Final Cut and used the voice over tool and a USB mic to record narration as each slide rolled by. I then exported just the audio track, since the video was just there as a low quality guide, and I then put that audio track in iTunes.
I then went back to the original high quality Keynote presentation and dropped the narration track into the first slide with the media option. For at least the one minute test, everything was in sync through ten different slides.
Is there an easier way for me to get narration into a Keynote presentation?
    Thanks, Steve

    Thanks Richard,
I did what you suggested, but instead of using QT pro, I used SoundStudio, which will also allow me to record through a USB mic. I then added an audio file to each individual slide. I did this for a ten slide test, but for my wife's 100 slide presentation I can see how that would take up a lot of time!
Still, your system of audio files (builds) added to each slide worked fine although I'm still testing out the refinements. It seems that once the audio is on the slide, the preference is towards the audio. By that I mean if you have a 12 second slide and you add 14 seconds of audio then the slide will stay on for at least 14 seconds before it makes a transition. Even though you may have set the slide to transition after 12 seconds. The audio won't get cut off. The other thing I see is that after the audio stops playing, there's too much of a delay before the transition kicks in.
I'll have to look into that.
The other route I took was making a Keynote presentation, exporting it as a low quality QT self playing movie, importing that movie into Final Cut Express, adding voiceover to the total running time of the presentation, and then exporting just the audio track as an aiff auido file. I then took that aiff audio file, went back to the high quality Keynote and dropped that track into the audio well to sync up with the first slide. All worked well with everything in sync, in Keynote. I then exported both audio and video as a QT movie and the audio fell out of sync. After 60 seconds the audio ended up 2 seconds longer than the video. Over time this could kill the project.
So..... if I have to do a lot of narration on slides I might buy QT Pro and drop the audio in as build objects for each slide. Hopefully I can work the other timing bugs out.
Any idea what went wrong with the sync when I exported a QT movie out of Keynote?
    Steve

  • Recording narration with keynote

I've got a big keynote presentation of about 90 slides with plenty of compositions and transitions, and all my narration is written down in comments. I've already given that presentation but now I would like to publish it so that people who couldn't attend can catch-up. The first thing I'd like to do is a video of my slides with my narration on top of it.
I thought it would be simple but I can't find a simple way to do it.
So how can I actually record both video and audio output when playing this keynote and produce a video out of it? Of course exporting in flash or quicktime doesn't work because I can't control when slides are changing.

I highly suggest that you try out Profcast. I have been using it to record narration with my presentations and I am pleased with the results.

  • Recording Narration

When I try to record narration, I get a message that says "Cannot record because one of the record-enabled tracks is locked in the timeline" Please help.

    Dave
Have you confirmed that the issue is confined to this one project? As a mini test run, can you open a new project and move along in it with the issue?
If you have not already, try deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file.
I am almost certain that with Premiere Elements 11 Mac the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file should be found
    Users/User Name/Libraries/Application Support/Adobe/Premiere Elements/11.0 Folder
Also is this an Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor from the Mac App Store or a Premiere Elements 11 Mac from Adobe. Lots of problems with the Mac App Store offering which is now discontinued.
    More later.
Thanks for looking at the suggestions.

  • Can I add narrative, voice over or dub in voice to a slideshow created in Aperture 3?

Can I add narrative, voice over, or dub in voice to an Aperture 3 slideshow?

The only way to do that in Aperture would be to create the voice over in some audio program and import it into the audio browser and ten apply it to the sideshow. You can record directly in Aperture.
So you would first make the visual part of the sideshow, then play it back in Aperture and you record your voice over. Then import the voice over and add it to the sideshow.
Should work but you might find it easier to do it in somthing like iMovie or Final Cut. Export the sideshow from Aperture, import it into iMovie and do the recording there.

  • Record narration in Powerpoint 2013 with returns to previous slides

    Hi,
I am trying to record narration on a Powerpoint slide show  (Powerpoint 2013). However I discovered that I can go only forward with slides. When I return to a previous slide the audio simply overwrites the narration of the first visit to the slide.
I s there any way to have Powerpoint store multiple audio segments and the timing on returning to previous slides ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Could you please tell me how do you record narration in PowerPoint 2013? Do you use record slide show from Slide Show?
If yes, it records narration on each slide not by time. This is why you return to a previous slide the audio simply overwrites the narration of the first visit to the slide.

  • Recording narration in Menubuilder

    Hi,
I want to use menubuilder to link some projects (I have had
difficulties with Captivate Player). I have 2 questions (and a
    couple sub questions).
    1. Can I put narration on the menubuilder? Do I need to
    import it from another application?
    2. Can I put a replay button on the slide? Is it more like
background audio than slide audio in Captivate?
This is the last thing I need to do before my current project
    is complete.
    Thanks!

    Hi LyonLover
Can I put narration on the menubuilder?
Well, since it does allow you to attach sound files, I
supposed you can. But why would you want a narrated menu?
Can I put a replay button on the slide?
MenuBuilder does not work like Captivate does. There is no
timeline. It is simply something that presents a handful of links
to Captivate files. So there is no start and finish as you see in
    Captivate.
    Hopefully this was helpful... Rick

  • Recorded Narration Playback level

    I am using Captivate 2
I record narration using a good microphone
while capturing Software Simulation of an Windows
    application.
I keep my voice level during recording constant.
To explain different features of the application,
I have to re-size Panels within the application.
After completing recording, I publish it in Flash.
I have noticed that during playback, narration volume drops
    drastically
when panels are re-sized within application. Once volume
    drops
it stay at that level to the end of the presentation.
Audio is recorded at 64 kbs, 22.050 khz, encoding speed 9.
Overall Captivate 2 has been a very unstable, very buggy
    software
    unlike other Adobe products.
Any suggestion to correct fluctuating audio output during
    playback??
Please don't tell me to upgrade to Captivate 3 -
I want first Captivate 2 to perform as advertised - at lease
do basic job of capturing well
    Thanks.

    Welcome to our community, PrintHelper
Yes, it would be very nice indeed if software never had any
    issues, but I digress.
You might wish to consider recording your audio separately
from the recording of the project. That's what we normally consider
best practice. When you think about it, Hollywood never records the
actors talking while filming the set. The voice is handled
separately. There is a reason for this. It's because you get better
    results.
In addition to suggesting you record the audio as a separate
action, I've seen others suggest that the best results are achieved
by recording using a separate application. One such application is
called Audacity. The good news is that it's open source and one may
obtain it at no charge. To visit the Audacity site,
    Cheers... Rick
