Can't redeem Apple Store Gift Card online

I have an APPLE STORE GIFT CARD, NOT an iTunes or App Store gift card, but there is no category for the Apple Store, so I figured I would ask here.
According to the instructions on this website, I'm supposed to be able to redeem my card online by checking out my cart and selecting the "Gift Card" option, but when I checkout, there appears to be no such option. Does this mean I can't redeem my gift card online and have to use it at an actual store?

What country are you in? Is the gift card for that same country?

    Thanks ed2345, but I actually was trying to buy an ipad Air 2 along with the iTunes gift cards.  There doesn't seem to be an option to redeem gift cards on the payment screen...?

    If you do a separate transaction for the iPad, will it accept the card redemption?

    I can't see anything in the app that lets you redeem a card (though I haven't tried buying anything to see if it shows an option during the buying process), and the page for how to redeem them doesn't mention the app : http://store.apple.com/us/accessories/giftcards/redeem

    I'm serious! I bought an Apple Store Gift Card relier today and I first tried to redeem it on iTunes (that didn't work for obvious reasons). So then I tried to buy an iTunes gift card with it, but when I get to the checkout section there isn't an "Apple Store Gift Card" tab, even though the site itself states that there is. Can someone please tell me what to do!

    Apple Store gift cards can only be used in Apple stores and their online stores, they can't be used with the iTunes store - and they can't be used to buy iTunes gift cards from Apple.

    However, I've just learned that I should have bought an Apple Store gift card... How confusing.
    Will Apple likely be able to transfer the balance across? And if so, how do I do it?

    From what I see and from my experiment in the U.S, online Apple Store, I would say that yes you can. iTunes gift cards are sold in the Apple Online store and Apple Store gift cards are an accepted form of payment on the store, so that means to me that it is possible.

    An Apple Store gift card can only be used to buy at an Apple Store, not in iTunes Store. If the card comes with a key, you can try redeeming it in the iTunes Store in case it is an iTunes gift card.

    Apple stores, including online, won't let you buy iTunes gift cards with an Apple Store gift card - it can only be used to buy hardware/software from the store. Other stores might let you do so, or you could try selling the card

    According to Apple, "Note: Apple Gift Cards cannot be redeemed at the iTunes Music Store. Purchase an iTunes Music Card instead." So no. Sorry. Hope this helps though.

    You can't from Apple, they don't let you buy iTunes gift cards with an Apple Store gift card. You could see if a different store in your country might let you (though they possibly won't), or try selling the card to somebody e.g. family, friend, eBay etc

    Hey Carterc25, I have been dealing with the same issue this morning... I've talked to the senior adviser of Applecare and "Bruce" told me the only way to convert apple gift card to itunes is by physically going to an Apple Retail Store and buy an Itunes gift card. Many people don't understand the difference between "apple" and "itunes" in gift cards so it is only obvious more people will fall victim to scheme. My advice is DO NOT BUY APPLE GIFT CARD.
