Can't register my serial number with Apple

I just tried to lookup express support and had to enter my serial number. Website says SN is invalid. I then tried registering my Mac Book Pro (I just bought it about 2 weeks ago) and got the same error that SN is invaid.
Short of calling Apple 1-800 number I don't know what to do.

    The easiest way to find your serial number is this Open Itunes...click help... run diagnostics.....(tick or untick as necessary) so that you just have ticked the last two,  device connectivity and device sync.  run these tests. it will say no ipod/ipad found but will give results of test....scroll down to bottom of results... here you will find the serial number of your last attached devices.

    It seems it was never registered to your Apple ID.
    Do you have an iTunes backup of the iPad?
    Open iTunes.
    Open Preferences. (In Mac OS X, choose iTunes > Preferences. In Windows, choose Edit > Preferences.)
    Click the Devices tab.
    Position the mouse over a backup to display the serial number of the backed-up device. iPhone and cellular iPad models also display the IMEI/MEID and Cellular Data Number:

    Sadly, there isn't much else Apple can do for you in this situation. However, I can tell you that there are a few other methods that can be used to retrieve your iPod's serial number other than from off the unit itself. Check out this Apple support document for more information. Hope it helps.

    I don't believe you can get your serial number from Apple since they have know way of knowing that you are indeed you, but you can call Apple tech support at 1-800-275-2273 (if you have a cellphone or can make an 800 call from school) and ask.
    Otherwise, if you have access to a computer to which you synced the iPod, or someone you can call does, you can find the serial number in iTunes on that computer. See:

    My iPod Product (red) that I received for Christmas was recently stolen out of my car. I've done the police report and all that, but was wondering if there was any way to flag my serial number so that if someone were to try & register it or get service that it would be blocked? Yes, I'll replace it ASAP, but my kids bought it for me with their own money and it just really makes me sick that it was stolen and I'll probably never see it again.

    Apple have no procedure to track, trace or block your iPod from use. You've done as much as you can by informing your local police.

    The serial number is printed on the sensor. We do not provide an api that gives you the serial number of the device.
    As for the api you are using, that will only provide a unique identifier for the port the device is connected to. Plugging in another Kinect device to the same USB2 port will get you the same value. See other threads that discuss this.
    There is nothing at a Kinect SDK level that will allow you to identify the exact device. You may need to look at Win32/OS level api's to see what is exposed through the raw driver. A tool to query the device that will let you see what these api's can provide
