Can't reinstall aperture. Installation fails on clean up

I tried to reinstall Aperture, but installation fails on clean up every time I try

Try this download link for the Trial installer, it installs Aperture 3.1; that worked for me with Mountain Lion 10.8.1

    What's going on?

Ok, I have now checked the log file according to the specifications in the troubleshoot section. The solution suggested in the error section of the log file was first to uninstall and then reinstall Photoshop. I then tried that. Bummer. BIG mistake. Now I don't have ANY version of Photoshop installed, because the Adobe Application Manager will not download and install Photoshop again because it stubbornly insist that my installation of Photoshop (which I do NOT have anymore as I uninstalled it) is up to date.
So... now I have two paid-for versions of Photoshop. One, which is part of a Creative Suite Master Collection and the one from my Creative Cloud membership. But none of them on my MacBookPro anymore. How should I proceed from here? Reinstall the old Creative Suite paid-for-and-owned-version and cancel the Creative Cloud subscription, or...?

  • Can't reinstall Aperture

For no obvious reason Aperture (version 2 - can't yet afford the upgrade) stopped working and whenever opened displays the spinning beachball. So I trashed it and reinstalled from disc along with downloaded updates, three times. No luck - I still get the spinning beachball when it's opened. Does anyone know how to do a completely clean reinstall? Trashing it seems not to have been enough as the reinstallations must still be corrupt.

When you said you trashed Aperture, did you also Empty the Trash?
Not sure how you are starting Aperture but have you tried by dragging your Aperture Library onto the Aperture application icon? That might help.
If "Yes" to the above and still no go, then you may have a problem with Disk Permissions on your boot drive (likely named Macintosh HD). You can run Disk Utility to Verify Disk Permissions and Verify Disk to see if all is well. Some of the so-called error messages are normal and can be ignored. If you need to actually Repair Disk or Repair Disk Permissions, that function may need to be run a few times to fix everything. If you are doing repairs on your internal hard disk, you must first boot from your Install DVD and when the install panel opens, go up to the menu bar and select Utilities -> Disk Utility.

  • Can I reinstal from installation CD in Single User / secure mode?

    Hi,
All of a sudden my MacBookPro can't boot. It gets stuck on blue screen just before login or freezes at the login window. I have tried Safe mode (shift during login), I have reset the pram and power.
I cannot boot from the installation dvd either: it gets stuck at the very same spot: blue screen just before login. I have tried D during login, C and Option and manually select the dvd drive. I also have tried to use an external dvd drive with the installation disk in it, with the exact same results as above.
The only thing that seems to be working is logging holding Command+S in single user mode. I have tried the fsck, mount -uw, mount -a. nothing seems to be helping.
    My questions are:
1- with my installation disk ready in the laptop, is there a way to reinstall it from single user mode, using some specific commands
2- Any other clues of what else I can try?
I should add that my Macboob was never faulty. I've had it since july 2006 and have always been 100% satisfied... but I was supposed to sell it next week (I ordered the newest model), so this is a rather bad timing ;-(
    Any help appreciated.

  • Uninstalled Oracle XE, now can't reinstall. Any suggestions?

I have been working for some time with Oracle Express,, installed on Windows Vista (yes, I know. You have to go with what you have available). Unfortunately it got into an odd state (tablespaces I couldn't remove) so I decided to uninstall and reinstall. I used the uninstaller, but it left a lot of files and other things on the system. I deleted these by hand, but now can't reinstall; the installer tells me I already have an instance on the system, and it can't proceed. I have:
    - cleaned all Oracle-related entries out of the registry, with the exception of items that appear to belong to Microsoft (start with microsoft or x86-microsoft)
    - removed all files that seem remotely oracle-related
    - cleaned all entries out of the start menu
    - cleaned all entries out of the environment variables
Has anyone come across this problem? Is there a solution? Or am I going to have to blow away the contents of my hard drive and start again. (In which case I would perhaps go to Windows 7 and run XE on a virtual machine, as recommended elsewhere.)
    Thanks for any help!

I followed all the steps, and it didn't help. Thanks, anyway.
After a (very inconvenient) period of working with a remote database, I now have time to get back to this issue.
I had been trying to install the Western European edition (smaller); I tried downloading the universal edition, and running this installer got me past the original error message. Unfortunately the installation still fails, but later, which is progress of a sort. The error is now:
"Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid. C:\Users\
    MYNAME~1\AppData\Local\Temp\ _is342C\1033.MST"
A colleague thinks that this is because some transform data was left in the registry by my failed uninstall, and needs to be cleaned out. I had the install output a verbose log, and he's looking at it.
    Ideas are still welcome.
One other thing: now when I try to run the Western European installer, it fails at the new, later place. I can only assume that the universal edition installer cleaned up whatever was causing the original error.

My IPhoto would no longer open, I uninstalled it, and tried to reinstall it with my software reinstall drive.  A message keeps coming up, installation failed. What do I now?

If you have a copy of it backed up, restore that. If not, back up your computer, upgrade it to Mavericks, and then get the current iPhoto version. If you don't have it backed up and don't want to upgrade, go to the Mac App Store main page, click on Support under Quick Links, contact Apple, and see what they say.

  • Can't reinstall CS3.  "All Components Fail to Install"

I had been running CS3 on Windows Vista 32. First received, out of the blue, the dreaded error that licensing had stopped working.  Was not able to rectify by the long list of ususual means.  Finally was instructed by adobe tech support to uninstall CS3 and reinstall.  Uninstall apparently successful (confirmed with Microsoft Fixit Tool that did find and fix some registry errors).  Can't reinstall CS3 either from DVD or from desktop.  Receive status report after install script finishes:  "All Components Failed to Install."  I have spent over 23 hours on this problem to no avail.  PLEASE HELP!

Thanks for the reply, but I did all that already.  After much research and seeing what's worked for others, below is a rundown of what I've already tried...  (much of my process below came from http://na-na-sa-ra.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-re-install-adobe-cs3-after.html which I too had found and had hoped would help.)
After attempting to uninstall CS3 from the control panel, I ran the Adobe CS3-5 cleaner, numerous times selecting various listed options during the script run.  After running each time, I ran the MS Fixit tool (http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall) that reportedly will "fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled".   After each run of the MS Fixit tool, I attempted to reinstall CS3 - the install script would run for a good long while, showing (slow) progression of a status bar, but in the end give a status report saying that all components failed to install.  Even though complete installation failed, Adobe CS3 would be on the list of programs in the control panel, so I would repeat an "uninstall" from the the control panel, and rerun the MS Fixit tool.  Sometimes the MS Fixit tool would find/correct problems, othertimes it would report that no problems were found.  I repeated this procedure for all the options given in the CS Cleaner Tool script without success.  Thinking it might be a problem with attempting to install from the DVD (which has never been a problem before), it was suggested to try installation from the desktop (copied all DVD files to a desktop folder).  Repeated the entire above process using the "desktop files" instead of the DVD.  No luck.  (...and phoning Adobe tech support was not productive - they sent me here to the forums.)
Really appreciate you trying to help.  Have any other suggestions?

  • Installation Failed The installer can't install some files in "/".

    The full message is
Installation Failed! The installer can't install some files in "/". Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
I first received this message when trying to upgrade Pro Tools from 8.0 to 8.0.1 a prerelease for snow leopard. I tried numerous things such as repairing permissions, as well as some pro tools specific things and to no avail. Still got the same error message.
So then I tried completely uninstalling and deleting all things pro tools from my computer. After a clean uninstall and removing all traces of pro tools I proceeded to try and re-install pro tools from my pro tools 8 disk. About a minute into the process I get the EXACT same error message.
I know this issue has been going on since even before snow leopard. I really need to get pro tools installed and running again or at least be able to get the program installed. I've isolated pro tools out of the mix because its been several different installers and even an installer from a dvd. I know this is a Snow Leopard or plain OS based problem. I have repaired permissions, created a brand new user, wiped clean and started over. I don't know anything else to do. PLEASE HELP???!!!

Hi Dean@mac & welcome to the forums...
Any specifics why it wants to install to / instead of Applications, as an example?
    Seen these threads yet?
    http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?search=Go&q=pro+tools
One thing to help investigate the issue is to create a new user just for testing that is stock with no add-on's etc., then login there and try to install. If it works there you can bet there is something unique to your original account that is borking that install - otherwise the issue is most likely global to your system and you might be out of luck until/unless a reportedly qualified version becomes available, etc.
    Good luck in any case.

  • Reinstalling CS5.5 Master Collection, Installation Failed

    I'm running
    Mac OSX Mavericks (10.9.3)
    Macbook Pro late 2012
Hi! I just yesterday reinstalled my computer's OS and restored files via backup, only to realize none of my applications survived the transition. Most of them are back now, with the exception of CS5.5 Master Collection. I was able to download the product and locate my serial number on my account, and thought all was well.
Not quite. Installation fails about 10 seconds in, with message to restart and try again. Restarting doesn't help.

  • Can't reinstall OS X (10.5.2) after Windows XP install failed

My son tried to install Windows XP into a 50GB partition on a 13" black MacBook (2.4GHz, 250GB HD). The installation failed and now the MacBook wont boot. It gives a message "No bootable device insert....". The extended hardware test on the MacOS X Install disc 1 says that there are no hardware problems. When we boot up using the MacOS X Install disc 1 the screen on the "Select a Destination" page is blank. I have tried the suggestion I found in a Google search of going into Disk Utility and simply waiting for 30 minutes but it didn't work. Similarly the suggestion of going into Terminal and typing in some code didn't work either. First Aid in Disk Utility cant do anything because the boxes such as "Repair Disk" are greyed out. Disk Utility shows a 232.9GB Fujitsu HD with SMART status verified and an icon for disk0 that is NTFS. Overall, does this mean that the failed installation has wiped OS X from the hard drive (and reformatted it for Windows)? I don't understand why I cant use the MacOS X install disc to do a reinstall. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi
Your son selected the internal partition when he was presented with the choice of formatting NTFS the boot camp partition from the XP Installer Disk. Basically he's wiped the whole of the drive. Unless you had a backup everything has been deleted with not much chance of recovery.
Boot from the installer disk, and launch Disk Utility from the Utilities Menu. You should see the primary partition of the internal drive, select it and the select Partition from the tab selections on the right hand side. Select Custom, select One Partition and click apply. You will be warned that doing so will erase everything. Seeing as you've lost everything anyway you have nothing left to lose. The format type should be Macintosh OSX Extended. It does not matter if you choose Journaled or not. Click apply. Quit out of Disk Utility and the drive should now present itself as a valid destination drive to install Leopard. Proceed from there normally. Once you have everything back up and running. Go for XP Install again but this time watch what your son is doing and make sure he selects the correct partition for installation and formatting.

  • Aperture 3 installation failed

    Hi,
I keep on getting installation failed for my aperture 3 installation, no further information is supplied. Tried restarting computer and install again a few times but all attempts failed. Anyone has any idea of how to fix this or know where I can find a log file for the exact error?
    Cheers
    XJ

Ok, tried following the directions and this worked:
    Placed the Aperture3.0Trial.dmg file in the Applications folder;
    Clicked on the Aperture3.0Trial.dmg file.
-The Aperture Trial 3.0 "volume" is mounted.
    - A window "Aperture Trial 3.0" opens which contains the ApertureTrial.mpkg file.
    Click on the ApertureTrial.mpkg file.
    That's it!
